In a busy area among a lot of other businesses along this busy and chaotic street. Parking is best in the garage. In the garage you must pay attention to where you exit to assure you are on the same street as this restaurant. We entered at a dimmly lit area of the restaurant in which you had to go upstairs. Once on the upper level there was the hostess; had a very dry welcoming to him as a greeter. I didnt do the chatting with him. We sat at the bar to be greeted with a mellow and seemingly dry attitude bartender, whom eventually became chatty and friendly. It was happy hour time. So we had the option to order from the Happy Hour or regular menu. Our drink orders were taken (happy hour menu) and appetizers. We decided on a mule and margarita pair with wings (bang bang grilled) and duck spring rolls. The drinks came out okay. And the appetizers were too. At some point a burger was ordered and came out without being the temperature of med well. A bartender over heard that it was not of request and quickly took such back. Im a few minutes it was remade to order and was again ok. At some point I flagged down a bartender and We order a repeat of drinks after not being attended to or checked on numerous time will waiting more then 30 minutes for our burger. Bartenders did not check to see if we wanted more drinks. Due to the hiccups, the bartender voluntarily comp our drinks. Service could be better and if in the area on another day someone may have a better experience.

Unfortunately, this was a disappointing experience. I ordered the $40 steak medium, but it arrived well done and tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for quite a while before being served. For that price, I expected much better quality and attention to detail. To be fair, the appetizers and drinks were very good, which is why I'm giving two stars instead of one. However, the service was extremely slow, and the long wait ended up making us late for our movie. Overall, while there were a couple of positives, the overcooked steak and excessive wait time left us frustrated and unlikely to return.

City Perch is definitely a cool spot in a bustling area of town. On a Tuesday afternoon, we saddled up at the bar for happy hour. After perusing the fairly limited happy hour menu, we decided on a Chicken Wings and the Duck Spring Rolls, along with a couple of house cocktails. Service started out strong then hit a wall when I decided to order the Perch Burger. I asked for medium- well and after an agonizing 30 minutes, it arrived medium-rare. The bartender noticed my disappointment, took it away, and put in another order. Sadly, it took at least another 20 minutes to arrive. Although it was better prepared, the whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth (no pun intended). The bartender was apologetic and offered a couple complimentary cocktails to compensate. Either way, not a great experience, but certainly not the worst.

Feedback Regarding Thanksgiving Dining Experience Hello, I am writing to share my disappointment with the treatment my party received during our Thanksgiving visit to your restaurant. We arrived to enjoy the holiday and were fully prepared to continue dining and even order from the regular menu if that option had been offered. Instead, the waitress brought us the bill without being asked, and one of the managers made a loud announcement in front of guests stating that we had "stayed well past our time" and asked us to leave. This was extremely embarrassing and made us feel singled out and unwelcome. Had we been respectfully advised that the reservation time was ending and offered the chance to continue our visit by ordering from the main menu, we absolutely would have. Instead, the way the situation was handled felt rushed, rude, and dismissive -- especially on a holiday. We hope you will take this feedback seriously so no other guests experience a similar situation. We chose your restaurant to celebrate Thanksgiving because we expected hospitality, not embarrassment. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Erika Wynn

12.16.24 Located in Pike and Rose, my boss took my colleagues and I out for our holiday lunch. I had reserved the wine room several months back. Our reservation was for noon on a Monday. I was surprised to see how unbusy it was for lunchtime. We ordered some apps, including the lobster arrancini, truffle fries, and brussels sprouts. Each of them were very tasty however, I would have wanted them to be hotter. They were just room temperature. For my entrée, I got the chicken spring roll bowl. I was expecting actual rolls, but it was just the bowl with chicken thigh, noodle, carrots, cabbage and candied pecans. I was so full from the apps that I mostly just ate the chicken and half of the veggies. I left behind a lot of the noodles. Overall, the food was pretty good, however, considering they weren't very busy I was surprised that the service was slower than I would've expected. The restaurant is located in the same building upstairs with the IPIC theater. A garage is right there as well. Parking can be validated at the host stand.

To be honest, the food was pretty mediocre. It's slightly overpriced for the quality, and nothing I tried really stood out. However, the location is nice, and the open area on the second floor has a cozy, relaxed vibe that I appreciated.

CALAMARI, DECADENT STUFFED FRENCH TOAST

4 stars for the ambiance, service, and drinks. Unfortunately 2 stars for the food. Which results in 3 stars. Friends and I visited for Sunday brunch with our 3 kids, and the place was spacious, pretty slow / not crowded, and VERY family friendly and accommodating. Dining with LOs is not easy and they were so so nice and welcoming, especially for how pretty the place is. We specifically picked City Perch because we knew the place is big, and usually pretty quiet... which means we'll be less of a bother to other patrons. GREAT CHOICE. Our server was nice, quick, and attentive. I ordered an Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc for just 12$, which is an incredible price especially for a pretty place like this. A big disappointment, unfortunately, was the food. We ordered calamari, short rib hash, and french toast. To be fair, the french toast was yummy. Calamari and Short rib hash, however, were BLAND. I had two calamari, 3 bites of hash (even with ketchup). I genuinely wonder if the chef forgot to add salt for both dishes today. I usually hate salty food (typically eat salad with almost no dressing, eat relatively healthy, so it's definitely not related to my taste-buds being used to salty food or anything like that). We overall had a good time because again, the vibe, service & drinks were great. Plus, we had ketchup - so that helped; in hindsight, I should have just asked for salt. Chefs are human, they make mistakes, so perhaps it was an off-day. I would be willing to give City Perch another try. If you are looking for a calm, quiet, beautiful spot in Pike & Rose to enjoy a drink or two (most other restaurants are PACKED and LOUD), I would recommend City Perch. If you are looking for a spot with BOMB food, this place might not be for you.

Sitting outside on the patio on a nice day is wonderful. Good people watching and a nice atmosphere. We ordered some cocktails which were well made and a salad which was delicious. Would absolutely visit here again

French Onion soup was delicious

The food were surprisingly good. The service was very good as we sat at the bar. The place is cozy and good for quiet hangout with friends or just couples.

Such an amazing dinner experience. We celebrated my sister's birthday today so decided to do City Perch. Miriam was our server and she was impeccable! We sat in the small private dining room, which allowed for us to have a more intimate vibe. I had the French Onion soup and the Perch burger. Honestly I was craving a burger and it was exactly what I wanted. I also had a glass of sparkling Rosé and we brought our own cake for the celebration. Overall, it was such a nice experience and I look forward to going back.

Sorry for the horrible cropping job. ;)

I have to say that I really loved the vibe/atmosphere of City Perch. It's like a combination of a bar (as its name would suggest) a restaurant, and a lounge (with the small sofas distributed around the place). We stopped by for a follow up to happy hour that was held in the area, and we were pleased with our food, adult beverages, and service. For our dining pleasure, we went with a flatbread pizza, mussels, and duck poutine. *The latter is something that I've never had. Well . . . I've never had poutine with duck, but it works.* As one might tell, we enjoyed everything . . . especially the duck poutine. For the area, I thought the prices of our entrees, which were huge portions, and cocktails were pretty standard. Actually, because of the amount of food in a serving, the prices might have been better than other spots nearby. While the food and beverages were great, I was really impressed by the racial and ethnic diversity of the restaurant's clientele . All in all, City Perch Kitchen + Bar has been added to my Bethesda go-to list.

Happy hour (July 2023)

Do they still include the mules with bottomless brunch? Menu seems different from last time I was there

They don't do the brunch box anymore (one entree, various unlimited drinks). They only serve mimosas, bellinis, and bloody Mary's. $8 each and $4 for refills.

I had the Gnocchi Alla Genovese ($24.25). They were ricotta dumplings tossed in a pesto cream and toasted pignolis. I never saw gnocchi so small. They were very tiny and cooked nicely. The pesto cream was generous and appetizing while the toasted pignolis added a much-needed crunch factor. I also tried the drunken veal parmigiana and carbonara special which were both specials I believe. The veal was topped with vodka sauce with a side of pasta. This was solid. The vodka sauce was flavorful but could have been a little spicier. The veal was tender but there needed to be more seasoning present. The pasta was tasty too. The carbonara had shrimp that were cooked ideally and was just a well put together dish. Again, the pasta was cooked to my liking. Will I go back? I would.

The group was given a choice of appetizers: meatballs, basil and tomato caprese salad, dinner salad, or garlic bread. Each of the appetizers were better than the next. The girls shared the meatballs, garlic bread, and caprese salad. Thank you to our server for bringing out gluten free bread for one of our guests with a gluten allergy. Our main dishes was the shrimp scampi, which was full of flavor and so tasty. There were several of us who ordered the shrimp scampi and you could hear a chorus of oohs and aah's. We loved every bite. I am pleased to share that Caruso's has gluten free pasta for guests with gluten allergies. And, the gluten free pasta was scrumptious. The birthday girl had chicken parmigiana and a side of spaghetti. She really enjoyed her meal. Another, guest had the penne pasta and she loved hers too. There portions were very generous. We also had a guest order the Caesar salad with shrimp. It came out with dressing, when the dressing was supposed to be on the side, but our waiter was quick to remedy that. The ambiance is lovely and reminds me of my grandmother's home in Little Italy. It is old world Italian with comfortable seating. I know it was a busy night, but the one fly in our ointment was our server. There was too much of a lag between courses, and main dishes came out of the kitchen at different times. Also, our gluten free guest had to sit and watch while others ate cake because her ice cream sundae was no where to be found. It finally made it to the table, but I felt badly for this young lady. I know our server was swamped with guests. Hopefully, next time a large party is on the schedule, they can lighten the load for that server. All of the girls had a good time including the birthday girl. So, I am reminded of the saying, it all works out in the end. Thank you, Caruso's.

Right from the beginning, everyone was very friendly. Our waiter took our drink order, and the service was great the whole time. They gave my sister the birthday card they use so all the servers knew she was celebrating. It made her feel really special. I love that you can ask for the cuts of meat you want, and they come out almost right away. It felt like we were kings and queens because the gauchos kept bringing us the meats we requested, and all the other meats kept coming too. We never had to wait long for anything. Our drinks were always refilled, and the staff kept checking on us to make sure we had everything we needed. The Market Table had a nice variety, but let's be honest, we came for the meat! Everything was hot, fresh, and cooked well. It just kept coming until we were completely full. At the end of the meal, my sister got to pick the birthday dessert she wanted, and the staff came over and sang Happy Birthday. She also got to use the $25 birthday reward that was emailed to her, which was a nice bonus. We usually go to the Virginia location, but now that there's one in North Bethesda, we'll probably come here more often since it's much closer. We had a wonderful time celebrating together, and my sister had a great birthday. Every staff member we interacted with was kind, helpful, and genuinely pleasant to be around. If you're looking for a place to celebrate a birthday or another special occasion, I would definitely recommend this location. We had a lot of fun, left completely stuffed, and are already looking forward to coming back.

We ordered two appetizers to try them: Mulligatawny soup ($8.99) - a very nice portion came in a bowl accompanied with two cups/spoons. We each had at least two small cups of soup from the one portion. Excellent soup. Samosa Chaat - ($10.99) - another very nice sized portion for sharing. And also excellent. A bit spicy and very flavorful. Entrees: Lamb Shank - beautifully prepared. Accompanied by rice. We both were surprised it didn't come with some vegetables on the sauce (like a few carrots), but the lamb itself is very flavorful. Yellow Daal - it's good. I likely wouldn't get it again as it was fine, but not great. Nothing wrong with it, but everything else was so flavorful and distinctive that this just seemed "fine". Chilly Garlic Naan - should have gotten an order of regular naan or garlic naan. This was so spicy that it was unpleasant to eat. My partner and I both like spicy food, but the spiciness interfered with our enjoyment of our entrees. Again, it's not the fault of the item - it's more of a warning that the spiciness is overpowering. I assume other people like this, but I prefer something that complements as opposed to overpowers (to me). Service was excellent throughout the meal. Full from the appetizers, we took most of the entrees home. Probably will discard the naan, unfortunately. Again, maybe you'll like it. I'm really glad we came here and will be back again.
