After seeing some of my Yelp friend's photos, I had to give Compadres Cantina a try. The photo that really sold it was the margarita flight sampler, which is so cool. I was surprised I had never heard of this place. Upon arrival, we noticed Compadres Cantina was tucked in the corner of a busy strip mall, but we found parking quickly. When we walked inside, we were greeted by the friendly staff. The decor was interesting with graffiti-style art on one wall and what appeared to be a performance area on the opposite wall. After reviewing the menu, I discovered this place was a Mexican Asian Mediterranean fusion restaurant, and they also served interesting sounding sushi. For drinks, my wife ordered a Watermelon Margarita (the flight was too much margarita for a weekday), and I had a Modelo. The margarita was excellent. For dinner, my wife had the Taco Flight (not too much for a weekday), and I had the Surf and Turf Burrito. The Taco Flight had a crispy shrimp taco, a pork belly taco, and a surf and turf taco. Each taco was amazing. My Surf and Turf Burrito was delicious. The carne asada was lean, and the bacon wrapped shrimp was plentiful and off the charts. It also came with tasty fries. Even the food presentation was great; served on wood planks. Regarding the service, it was very good. My cousin ordered a shrimp dish that was very tasty despite her request that it did not have any spice to it. it was delicious, but I'm sure it would have tasted better. my grilled squid was tasty over potatoes & a sauce and a side salad. I also ordered the marinated pork belly taco. Both were delicious! And their salsa-yumm loved the heat. My sister ordered the bone marrow tacos - she liked them but said there wasn't enough marrow. then she ordered a shrimp & pulpo(octopus] ceviche. The shrimp was marinated well, but unfortunately, the pulpo was chewy. I had their house Michelada, which was good. my sister had a virgin margarita? I'm surprised. She usually has a Cadillac margarita. I love the decor & I enjoyed the music even though my sibling complained that the music was too loud. I let my sister know that this is how it is in the IE. And she selected the restaurant. I will return to try other dishes from the menu & especially their drinks!! For me the service was very good (thank you for being patient), food was good too-grilled pulpo was good, the pork belly, shrimp with a sauce & my sister's bone marrow tacos were excellent. Food was mediocre, seriously sooooo basic. Drinks are bad, I'm allergic to tamarindo and they wouldn't let me get 2 of 1 flavor on the flight, like what. They wouldn't take request or play any románticas or banda just like reggaeton. KIM was my server, she never came back after asking her for stuff and to top it all off I'd never receive the stuff I did ask for. She didn't ID my sister so I guess that was the only good thing here, but the service sucked so we only got the flight and 1 set of shots. We came to celebrate one of my friend birthday party back in October. We were seated outside and they take reservations at the time when we visited. She saw their instagram picture and wanted to try their margarita flight (definitely picture worthy) We went on a Friday night after work and they were pretty packed. The tables were somewhat spread out. Its located inside busy shopping mall with lot of stores but finding parking wasn't too hard. This place kind of gave me Tempo like vibe and I loved their food presentation as well. Although they kind of lacked on draft beer for beer lovers like me but they sure have good selection of margaritas and other mixed drinks. Me being the potato lover I had to get their carne asada fries. My friends ordered taquitos, carnitas burrito and tacos. We also got ceviche and guacamole to share amongst us. The food was very delicious and this place is definitely a hidden gem. Manger that was helping us was great. She over heard us saying happy birthday to my friend and she brought out churros towards the end of our meal. Definitely a spot I will return. The only thing i can say against it is not getting food menus as soon as we sat down but instead got drink (alcoholic) menus. I have nothing against that but I was with my 13 year old brother. So i thought that was odd. We ordered the costillas plate, the nachos and the surf and turf burrito. The nachos were no better than a taco bell or something equivalent. The costillas tasted really old and for being short ribs, they were really tough to chew through. The surf and turf burrito was nothing special at all. All of these were at least $20 per item. The palomas were delicious, perfect taste, not too sweet. We were so full but we also had the churros, great way to end our dinner. We came around 7pm, and we had reservations so we were seated fairly quickly which was great and convenient.
