Love this place. Food is pretty good; the pizza is better than what I get from the delivery giants, but what really sell the place for me are the prices and the atmosphere. That isn't to say I can compare it to a high end gourmet restaurant because it just isn't that kind of place. There is just something about the small space, low lights, friendly service, and hole-in-the-wall'ness about Compari's that keeps me coming back week after week. My now husband and I found Compari's using Yelp, actually, when I lived in the neighborhood, and now we are definitely fans of the place! It's not just small - it's TINY! We asked about having our rehearsal dinner there and they could not seat 75 people. THAT'S how teeny it is! Don't let that deter you, though -- it gives it the coziest feeling and really makes a great date. The decor is like others have been saying: cheesy and adorable Italian. Ever seen the movie Return to Me??? It reminds me of the restaurant that girl's family owns where the old Italian guys sit and play cards all day. It's darling. The food is actually quite good. No -- it's not NY style pizza, but they don't claim to be so I don't know why everyone has such a fit about that. The flavor is excellent. We usually get some kind of meat (meatball, sausage, pepperoni, whatever), garlic, and cheese, and it's great! We've also tried their ravioli and lasagna which we didn't like as much as the pizza, but it still did not disappoint. A glass of wine is only $4-6 and it's a FULL glass. In other words, very well priced... just like everything else on their menu! Great lunch specials! The place is super small on the inside and the service a little slow (since I was on my lunch break), but the server was friendly. Tiny little out-of-the-way place, traditional red checkered tablecloths, very friendly service, romantic ambiance, all Italian music playing, candles, and the most delicious fresh food. The marinara sauce was perfect. The meatballs, perfect. My fiance loved his linguine with red clam sauce. The prices, VERY reasonable. It's a perfect place for a date. I just loved everything about it. Well, actually the white wine could have been a little more chilled but I did order a 1/2 carafe of their house chablis so I'm not complaining. I've been coming to Compari's since I was a little kid. My grandparents would always take us here for a nice Italian lunch. Still love this place and it seems it hasn't changed! Compari's is delicious Italian food with old school pricing. Everything is so delicious and affordable! Their lasagna is to die for! I also love how tiny and cozy it is. After living in LA for over 15 years, this place is the closest I have EVER gotten to a typical, old-school "Mom and Pop" East Coast Italian Restaurant. I felt like I was back home on the block. this place has really fair prices, great food and convenient location to the Baldwin hills area. the house Chianti is good - you can get 4 of those small glasses out of a half carafe and its only $7. i haven't tried their pizza yet but i love their eggplant Parmesan. the eggplant was fried perfectly crispy. The lemon chicken is super fresh. So is the devil chicken. I love that the decor is untouched since the 70s. The fake brick and grapevines on the ceiling with blinking lights is so retro. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York...I know Italian, In fact I married into the Italians so...dont make me call the boys eh fuggetaboutit. Met the wife here for lunch, she passes by on her way to work daily. I said eh ok. This is not a fancy place but, it had a quaint feel to it, small and cheesy Italian but not in a bad way. We were seated right away, ordered right away and got our food fast. There was only one other couple in the place. and while we sat there a few pickup orders went in and out. I hope they do better at dinner time. We went light Green salad, a little on the small side. Zucchini fries, good enough portion and good flavor and crisp. 3 slices of cheese pizza ( nowadays you have to call it cheese pizza which is annoying ) The pizza was not terrible but I would not go back there again for it. I would go back and try something else for a second chance because I like the atmosphere and the staff was very nice and its a quite little hole in the wall. But not for the pizza. Anyone that's rating this 5 star pizza is either a friend of the family or really doesn't know good pizza. BTW I am a big fan of all styles of pizza not just NY style. So don't get all buggy about me being from NY, its not about that, it is about the pizza, period. Ratings are tough because I would give this place 3 stars for likability but 2 stars for the pizza. We really like the pizza from Compari's but the delivery service is sloooooowwwww! The last delivery took 1.5 hrs and this delivery has taken over an hour and it's still not here. This place is right around the corner from our home and my husband had gone once when I was out of town and enjoyed it. I went with him this latest time and we had a nice dinner outside on their quaint little patio. Service was very friendly and attentive. Tonight my boyfriend and I were trying to decide where to eat. We did not want something where we really had to get ready and we just wanted some decent food after a long day. He suggested Compari's. I had never been and he said he had only been about 10 years ago while growing up, so since italian is my favorite kind of food, i was down to try something new. We were seated right away, it was a little later in the evening and not that crowded. We decided to order the 1/2 carafe of the chianti(only $6!!) and a small meatball pizza to start. I ordered the ravioli special, and was able to do half lobster and half spinach/cheese raviolis in the pink sauce because i am indecisive, and the bf ordered the salmon linguini special also in pink sauce (both $12) . every thing was really delicious, especially the pastas! next time i want to try the spaghetti and meatballs because the meatballs on the pizza were so good! We will defiantly be coming back here again when we just feel like no hassle good food. read more

Found this cute spot on a co-workers recommendation. Headed to this place for a lunch break. Be warned that seating at this place is limited and the parking lot is even smaller. Chances are you will end up parking on Centinela or a side street. Because our group got there so early seating was not a problem and neither was the service. Our order was taken promptly and fresh bread brought to the table right away.This place has lunch specials that range from about $8-12 which includes fresh bread and a soup/salad. I ordered the lobster ravioli with the pink sauce. My concern with this place was eventhough there was only one more single patron in the restaurant it still took quite awhile to get our food. When my plate finally did arrive I was disappointed because it was lukewarm which I don't get since I saw when the cook passed my plate to our waiter. Maybe my plate was just sitting in the kitchen... I dont know. I should have sent it back but didn't want to make a big deal about it. This is not NY style pizza. if you come here looking for wafer thin crust and buffalo mozza you will disappointed. keep an open mind though. this is inglewood, home to SO MANY fast food joints, and very little family owned restaurants . the pizza is fresh, served quickly, and well priced. I ordered a glass of beer, (its ample. see photo.) and a 10 inch pizza with light sauce topped with garlic, and black olive. it was great. the place is small and quant, 9 tables. the service is fast, and no nonsense. Compari' has grown on me. I really want to love it because it is cute and close to home but its just alright. When I first went there everything was like $6 so even though it wasn't that great you really couldn't complain because a plate of pasta with shrimp cost less than a value meal at Burger King. Then they upped the prices to about $9 and I couldn't justify it...okay that's not a lot of money but if you leave a restaurant feeling like you should have eaten at Del Taco you are mad that you spent $9 for a dish. That said, since I live close and something about their food has improved...and they have cheap house wine...I'll still eat there. My husband thinks it's fabulous so to appease him I get roped into Compari's about once a month. It is really cute inside, small and designed to look like you are outside with awnings and white string lights...it's cute. Good pizza and pretty good pasta if you find one you like. My husband loves the spicy cajun pasta. They do have good salads as well. A party of two can have dinner, an appetizer and a wine for under $40. Not bad. read more

I live in Ladera Heights so this place is right in the neighborhood. The owner is friendly and remembers regulars and knows who you are just by your voice over the phone. And with that, I'd like to say that I usually order delivery from Compari's but I've also dined there and the ambiance is pretty nice for being located in a rather random area. The food is great and if you're a fan of pizza they have a wide variety of toppings to chose from. They have many different pastas and often have specials written on a board outside of the restaurant and I've never been dissatisfied. The salads aren't too adventurous but if you can settle for a garden salad, their italian vinaigrette is very, very good. It's not that sort that you can tell was just out of a bottle. I had Compari's food for a birthday party once as well and with just a simple talk with the owner everything was all set and my friends loved it. Food is mediocre at best. Garlic bread has spices all over it which I thought was odd. I couldn't eat it because it was covered in dried oregano. Weird. I ordered the chicken Parmesan. It was not good- Olive Garden is more authentic- but more expensive. If I want mediocre Italian I would go to Olive Garden because at least you get quality breadsticks and salad with your meal. Well, is it wrong to say they unknowingly bought themselves another star? I went here last Thursday night in a party of 5. This was the first time I ever spent so much time in this restaurant. There were a few tables a head of us, and a couple take out orders. Their deliveries really slowed down the service. I had the special of seafood ravioli, it was very good and everyone was please with their food. I would have dropped it down to 3 stars for such a long wait, but they decided to give us 2 free desserts to make up for the wait. It is good to see them so busy, but I'm selfish and want my food when I want it, not later. My husband and I discovered this restaurant by accident when we were taking our clothes to the dry cleaners. It is in a random strip mall and the parking is sparce, but they do deliver. Because our kitchen was under construction, we ordered from Compari's at least twice a week. I worried that a day would come when we would be sick of the food, but everything we got was wonderful. The bottom line is that the pizza is a little better than a delivery pizza. I had the house special which was fresh and tasty. The dough definitely tastes better than delivery.
