This place was super tasty! My sister and I were in town visiting and were digging some Italian food and this was a great choice. She got the Lobster ravioli, which was very tasty and super filling. I got the chicken parmesan, which was also very good and filling. We ordered the fried zucchini and it was amazing. Super crunchy on the outside and soft and flavorful on the inside. I've eaten here a couple times. To be honest I have only had the pizza. The pizza is the BOMB. The crust isn't super thick nor is it thin. Good cheese to sauce ratio. Toppings are fresh. This place is a small restaurant that packs a mean punch in their signature dishes. The pizza is okay but their fettuccini Alfredo and chicken parmesana are amazing! The servers are always nice and talkative and so is the owner that always greets and even thanks you for coming, he even remembers me when I go every so often. The place is always clean and the candle light adds an extra little something to your meal while listening to Italian music. This is not a 5 star place but rather a small intimate place. A tiny little place with a nondescript exterior, but the inside is very nicely decorated. Definitely a "mom and pop" kind of place, but those sometimes have great food, and Compari's is such an example. We got some fairly standard Italian dishes - spaghetti, pizza, ravioli, and chicken Parmesan. All were quite good. If I get a chance to go back I would like to try some of the less common offerings. What surpasses the place where you're greeted like family, they'll go out of their way to get your favorite wine, put a dessert you like on the menu, and ask about the trip you just took or whether your cousin will be joining you tonight? The food is consistent and tasty, the chefs wave to you through the glass, you can make the most bizarre substitutions and dietary demands, and the people who work there make you laugh while being aesthetically pleasing to the eye. I ordered a medium pineapple pizza. The pizza was definitely better than chain restaurant pizza. But when I bit into the pizza the taste reminded me of that disgusting butter and garlic sauce that Papa John's has. The crust was more like a pretzel than pizza crust. Weird but not terrible. My husband and I have been eating there for 45 years, since we were 16. Although, different owner today, Compari's has kept that small, intimate atmosphere. The food is delicious, the pizza is great and the service has always been attentive and prompt. Few of their items are simply awesome. I love their eggplant parmesan and lasagne. They are full of flavor and much better than the bland ones you get at high-priced, fancy Italian restaurants. Another thing I like about this place is their menu has a lot of variety. I always try different things when I go there. First time ordering from here, went on a Saturday night for some take out. Feels like they rushed my clams and linguini in white wine sauce. The top of the pasta was very dry, barely any clams and there was almost no juice at the bottom. Very flavorless unfortunately tasted like plain pasta with some lemon and a few clams. Yes, it started off as a convenient location to grub but after all these years I have to give it the credit it deserves. Absolutely the best service you can find, extremely well priced, and high quality Italian food. My favorite dish? Easily the Cajun Pasta. Why? The generous portion with chicken, sausage, and shrimp. I should mention it's delicious as well. The problem? Do I finish it all in 1 serving or 2? 2 nights ago I finished it all at once. The next morning I had no appetite for breakfast. So there you go. I ordered 2 pizzas here. The Vegetable pizza and the Pizza Marguerite are excellent. They use REAL mozarrella. Not like commercial cheese, so it tastes drastically diiferent. There are a variety of items on the menu id like to try :P. This small little bistro off in the cut is a diamond in the rough. i will be sure to try their pastas and other pizzas real soon. They took their own time finding me a table on a slow Sat evening. After that, it took them a while to come take my order. They were busy by the register chatting and laughing. I ordered the primavera with house wine. The primevara was saved 10 minutes later with cold, chewy, tasteless garlic bread. The vegetables in the pasta were raw to half cooked. They forgot the wine. I moved down the street from this restaurant 6 years ago, and am a regular with my family. We liked the food, and the one waiter, Albert. I noticed him acting somewhat rude to me at times about 6 months ago. Unsure why this was, I increased his tips to 20%. A month ago, I even tipped 40%, because we really enjoyed going there, and I wanted to continue . So for my daughters high school graduation ceremony, we went there with extended family. He put me down with a negative comment in front of my entire family. Then when leaving, we got our to go containers in brown paper bags, and left. I set two on my passenger seat and drove two blocks home. Parked, and turned to see the brown paper bags were now completely soaked with oil. I quickly rushed them to kitchen where I realized, to my dismay, there was an inch of olive oil in the bottom of both of my brown bags, yet almost no olive oil in the food containers. I carried them very carefully to my car, so this made absolutely no sense. I mentioned this to my daughter and she had the same issue with her to go bag. So now both of us have huge stains on the passenger seats of our cars, and are wondering how this could have happened and kind got that violated feeling one gets when you have been a victim of a malicious act. I requested his name, which I had forgotten at the beginning of the meal. Was this enough for him to purposely loose a neighborhood customer that frequents this location and tips very well. I have the feeling this was vindictive. It makes no logical sense how an inch of olive oil was at the bottom of the bag, yet there was no olive oil in the food containers. So be careful how you treat Albert, remember his name, and maybe just don't take home food in brown paper bags from this location. I am more then a little perturbed. I just bought a new car, and now have a permanent stain the size of a dollar bill. Albert, you should be very ashamed of yourself. There is no excuse for your behavior. read more

5 Stars for the variety of lunch specials. Favorites include Eggplant Parmesan, House Special Pizza and the Antipasto Salad. I've been coming to Compari's since the 70s. I still miss the Cannelloni and Lasagna Verde (spinach and mushrooms) that went away when ownership changed several years ago but everything else is as good as ever. I'm a New Jersey girl who's been in LA for almost 10 years. Anyone from Jersey knows that pizza and italian food is our thing and good pizza is hard to find in LA. After driving by Compari for years without noticing the place, I stumbled upon their Yelp reviews about 6 mos ago and decided to give it a try. Let me tell you...this is now my "go to" place for pizza. The crust is done right because they use the real ovens - not conveyor belts like Domino's or Pizza Hut. The sauce is yummy. The prices are comparable. The people friendly. I recently ordered the chicken parm and it was really good! I definitely recommend Compari! read more
