This quaint mom and pop style restaurant is easy to miss since it's along a busy stretch of Centinela. My friend knew about it and the food exceeded my expectations. Service is efficient and cordial. We thought it was odd that we weren't served bread but it came with our entrees. It was nothing extraordinary but I sure ate a lot of it! We shared our dishes and both servings were fairly large. After much deliberation, I decided on Linguine Alla Checca (fresh tomato, basil, garlic and olive oil) and added shrimp. It was a simple mixture of deliciousness. The under cooked shrimp was tender, chewier and more flavorful. My friend's Cajun Pasta was packed with protein - shrimp, chicken and spicy sausage. The first few bites were spicy but I preferred my Alla Checca. It would have been nice to choose two different pastas as the Cajun also came with linguine. Still we actually ate all of the pastas! Prices are very reasonable. Pasta dishes range from $9 to about $15 for specials. I would love to try their lobster ravioli next time. They also make subs (even Philly Cheese Steaks), pizza, and salads. The only Italian item I didn't see were calzones. We heard Italian ballads throughout our meal. This was charming and relaxing. Unreliable!!! I called 3 days in advance to schedule 3 pizzas for pickup for a surprise birthday party. When I arrived 15 minutes early, both cooks were standing outside, the hostess had no idea of the order, and the pizzas were not made!!! This made me late for everything!! Unprofessional!! Irresponsible!!! Unreliable!!! Now I am late to pick up the birthday cake and balloons/presents and will not arrive at the surprise birthday on-time with the cake and pizza. This is why I called in advance to schedule a pick up that was not prepared or even made known to the attending staff on duty. read more

First Impression:: We live close by and decided that we didn't want to cook last minute, so why not try out a local place. We didn't want to get snazzy and dressed up and this place seemed pretty casual. Walking in, the place is pretty small. They have alcove parking and only a few spots. I think there is plenty of street parking though. We walked in and it was a pretty standard Italian place. One large room, bathroom on the back wall, and a window to see the kitchen. Although small, it can be pretty intimate for 2. We were a little late for dinner but the place was not crowded at all. Food:: This place looks like it has good pizza, but I wanted to get something worth leaving the house for. Not something I could have ordered for delivery. I went with lasagna. $10. "Seasoned lean ground beef, ricotta cheese, topped with tomato-herb sauce and melted mozzarella cheese". I was a little nervous because the meat looked a little more gray than brown, but I think it is due to the lean ground beef and the seasonings they used? If not, don't tell me. I don't want to know. It was fine. Nothing special but good enough to satisfy that craving. My fiance got the Di Mare. $10.50. "Sauteed Shrimp, Broccoli, Fresh Tomato, Served In A Garlic Cream Sauce". This was a recommendation from one of the waiter. It was pretty soupy. The cream was like milk in a pasta cereal. The noodles and broccoli were good once they were removed from the cream. The shrimp were a little underwhelming and small. It didn't taste bad at all, but you could feel how heavy and not healthy it was because of the amount of sauce. Drinks:: Cheap $5 beers or $10 pitchers. I had a Peroni and she had a Blue Moon. We were really thinking about the pitcher because of the cheap price. We just wanted to get back. Not a huge selection, but the wine list looked more in-depth. Service / Ambiance:: The service was great, and everyone was super nice. They were training a new female server the night we went. Not only was she knowledgeable, but the mentor was being very patience and great with her. The ambiance is a bit kitschy. There put ivory on all of the walls and ceiling. They also had blinking lights in the ivory that was a bit distracting. Nothing that would draw me back, but it didn't completely turn me off. I don't live in the area and wanted pizza. I think it is pretty difficult to mess up pizza but this place figured out how to do this. The cheese and pepperoni were good. The dough is soaked with garlic butter that is so overwhelming it ruins it all. After eating a couple slices, I just ate the toppings. The gentleman working was very nice. I had a $13 bread sandwich last night. You read that right, bread sandwich with a single super thin layer of salami. It was ridiculous! I had four tiny pieces of pepperoni and one thin layer of salami that's all in terms of meat. I told them that I just want salami and pepperoni, none of the other kinds of meat. You would think common sense would be to add EXTRA of meat that I do like, but nope, they didn't and they still charged me $13. That was a freaking ripoff!!! read more

Very much a small hole in the wall type place, the atmosphere is not typically something I rush to, but with specials like this, why not stop if you're nearby? I ordered the Chicken Parm lunch special, which came with Chicken Parm, over pasta with a marinara sauce, a salad, garlic bread and your choice of beverage (wine and beer included). Are you kidding? I wish I could have had a beer but was driving. However, nonetheless, great deal. The salad might have had a little too many toppings for my liking, but I picked out what I didn't need. The dressing, however, was really good. Chicken Parm was enjoyable, nothing super special, but definitely satisfactory. Meanwhile, the Garlic Bread was a true hit. Passed by this place many times over the years and decided to stop by today. Parking is tight but we got a spot. I had the eggplant parmesan and wife had Mama Mia pasta with bread and salad. The bread was just ok. The eggplant parmesan was actually pretty good. Red sauce had flavor and the crust on the eggplant was very nice. The Mama Mia has salmon, shrimp and clams over pasta with white wine sauce and wife said she really enjoyed it. While the decor hasn't ever changed the neither has the food (in the best way possible). Nice cozy place. Ravioli sampler (spinach, pumpkin, lobster) with pink sauce was excellent. Pasta cooked perfectly, fillings were flavorful and distinct, and portions were good. Spaghetti & meatballs good also. Pasta again cooked perfectly, 3'' meatball very tender, and sauce had great flavorful chunks of tomato. I had a very enjoyable lunch at Compari's, an old school Italian Eatery, that has been serving a great Italian dishes since 1960. I ordered their Linguini de Mare, Shrimp, broccoli, dice tomatoes, served over Linguini in a delicate cream sauce,. Pasta was cooked to perfection, lots on shrimp and broccoli in the dish oh so good. The Cream sauce was delicate but loaded with flavor that made this dish memorable. The service was excellent, and since this is an old school Italian joint, the room was filled with all Italian music, I thought I was back in Campofelice Di Rocella, Sicily having lunch. read more
