I had 2 bad experiences with Computer Overhauls. The first time was back in 2009 when I brought my PC in for a memory upgrade and a video card install. When I received the computer, I could not access any applications on my computer. Everything was frozen. I called in and they attempted remote support, but that did not work. When I bought it back in, the technician was hostile and pretty much blamed me for the problem. It was fixed, but I still had minor issues. The next issue was with my iPod touch. The top button stopped functioning properly. I took it into Computer Overhauls to have it fixed. One, it took a week to get my device back and secondly, the button still was not fixed so I had to bring it back. Once I received it back for a second time, the button worked. My headphone only worked in one ear, so naturally, I thought it was a shortage. After buying two new headphone sets, I realized that the issue was the headphone jack. I emailed Computer Overhauls and notified them that after the technician repaired my button, my headphone jack was damaged. I was told that it was a separate issue and that I would have to pay. I then informed the tech that this was not an issue of 'wear and tear' as this issue did not exist before I gave my device to their facility for repair. After going back and forth, they decided to fix the issue at no cost. I received my device back, button worked, music played in both ears. Five minutes later I'm walking to the train station and my iPod went haywire. The music started playing like a skipped CD; when I pressed the button it would activate the voice control. I had to plug the headphones in and out a few times to get the music to play normally. I told them about the new problem and was told that it was not apart of the initial issue so they would not fix it. Soon thereafter, my screen started to randomly shut off or just freeze-I cannot play any music access any applications. Nothing. I filed a complaint with the BBB and requested my money back. My money was refunded to me for the cost of the initial repair. To date my iPod is barely functional. I had documents on my that I cannot and could not access. I place another complaint on BBB just to have on record. Now that I can barely use my iPod, I had to breakdown and buy another one yesterday because I use my device for multiple purposes. I once again was randomly locked out of the device while I was in the process of emailing a document. Now that I had to buy another device, it is very likely that I will take this company to Small Claims Court to recoup my expense for the new device. Do not waste your time with this company. I bought my Dell notebook about two years ago(the summer before I began attending college). I absolutely love my laptop and it's a necessity in my everyday life to have it with me at all times whether it might be to surf the net, go on AIM to chat, or to simply waste my life away on youtube. One morning I turned on my computer and got BSOD(Blue Screen of Death) and it said hard drive error. I panicked the moment I saw my screen boot up as the color blue because blue in the computer world means a very bad thing. I knew there was something wrong with my hard drive but I didn't know exactly what was wrong with it. That's when I found out about Computer Overhauls. My friend previously had a problem with her Macbook which also included a hard drive error/failure. I immediately asked her where is a good place to get my computer repaired and she referred me to Computer Overhauls and I am so glad that she did! He seemed like a very amiable person and indeed he sure was. He took my laptop and examined the computer and told me I had to get a new hard drive because the hard drive that was in my computer failed. Computer Overhauls installed a brand new 250 gb hard drive and my computer was good to go! They even installed the Windows operating system again for me for very cheap. I've had the same laptop for about three years and it's always work well for me but I noticed over the past six months or so that it had really begun to crawl and take FOREVER to load up. I figured there was probably something I could have done to fix the problem and a quick google search turned up a bunch of local tech shops. I picked these guys cause their site looked the most legit and they actually sounded like they knew what they were talking about on the phone. I visited their office a few days later where the tech told me the computer was just full of spyware & extra stuff that was all slowing down the computer. The only thing on my computer I really wanted was my photos & music so he recommend a full overhaul which sounded good to me. The basically backed up all my stuff, restored my entire computer so it was brand new again and then put all my stuff back. I picked it up two days later and it was FLYING. I don't think it was this fast when I first bought it. Its definitely way cheaper than buying another computer and the service was very professional. Just after the expiration of 3 years warranty, the computer screen became black with a message of HDD Hard Error. At first, I didn't know what happened. I called Microsoft. The operator told me that I had 3 choices; first go to a repair shop, second go to Internet and research what the message means, third pay $59 to talk to a technician in Microsoft. I selected the third one. The technician asked me to turn on again. I told him what the message was and I tried that twice before I called. But anyway I turned on. My computer boosted up. It seemed my computer ran again. In one second, I spent $59 without no instructions. As soon as Internet was available, I researched a HDD Hard Error. Apparently it was a hard disk problem. Microsoft said that they would help until the problem was solved. I sent a message to Microsoft, of course no reply. I am idiot. That why I went to Computer Overhauls. Actually they did a really good job. Not only did they handle my desperate emotion, but also they fixed my computer in 2 days with perfect service. I truly appreciate their effort. Thank you so much. I've got a nice Dell laptop that a little over a year old - I spent a good amount of money on it when I bought it was hope to keep it for at least a few more year. However, I was carrying it in my bag with a water bottle which apparently was completely closed. Needless to say, when I got home my laptop was soaked and even though I tried to dry it off for a few days the computer was dead. I call them up and explained the situation. They told me most likely the "motherboard" was damaged, they offered to try and fix the one thats in the computer first, if that didn't work they could also replace the entire piece. They did require me to pay a deposit up front but if they can't fix the computer they give you a full refund. The don't charge anything to look at it so I felt pretty comfortable that I wasn't paying for nothing. Anyway a few days later they call to say they were able to repair the computer. I picked it up and its been working smoothly. Overall I was very satisfied with the service. The price was reasonable and they came off very professional. read more

I bought my laptop about March of 2009. Recently, my college's computer network locked me out of the internet. Now I am not very knowledgable about the whole idea of what to do when you lose internet service so I thought it was just a faulty internet connection until I did not have internet access for 2 days. Since my father works with computers and he knows quite a bit about the computer repair industry, he told me to bring my computer to Computer Overhauls and get it checked out. When I brought my computer over, the manager ran a free diagnostic check and told me that it was a virus. He offered to wipe the computer clean which would get rid of the virus. Two days later, I came back to pick up my "Baby Dell" and it was good as new. It ran perfectly and I was greatly satisfied with the service. The price was very reasonable and I was set! So last week I few back into NYC from vacation and when I got home and unpacked my bag I found my Macbook laptop with a shattered screen!! I booked an appointment at the Apple store and the genius bar took a look at it for me. The verdict was that my warranty would not cover the repair - the cost from Apple $895 - OUCH - Luckily the genius bar staff suggested that if I didn't want to pay that much then I could go and check out these guys. Long story short I got to their office and them immediately quoted me $429 to install a new screen. DONE! They guy was very friendly and told me it usually takes 3-5 days for this repair to be completed. The next day I got a call that the computer was repaired and ready for pickup. OMG I never realized how much I love my computer!! I was cringing at the thought I screwed it up, as I sat there trying to get it to work i just crawwwwleeed so slowly. After an emotional break down I brought it into Computer Overhauls. Easy to get to (right by penn station) not on the street though, up on the 7th fl. Nice office, super friendly staff. I've only used this companies website since I live quite far from the physical store, but my experience with this company has been amazing. My wife bought me a brand new laptop for my birthday two months ago and I was so excited because I've been on a desktop forever! I was looking for a (bargain) Lenovo M93 computer for my wife and many of the ones on eBay were too expensive for what I was getting. I did manage to run across this seller though that listed an even better deal: A Lenovo M700 for $144.95 which is many generations newer than the M93. It came with Windows 10 - 20H2 preloaded on a 1 TB Harddrive and 8 GB of RAM. It has a Quad-Core i5 2.7 processor. The system was in like-new condition and had a very gracious letter explaining how appreciative he was of the business as last year had really been a tough year. I had been looking at purchasing a gently used Microsoft Surface from eBay. It's always a bit of a gamble buying a tablet off of eBay, but boy was I surprised. I purchase an Asus g50v for parts etc on Sunday Jan 26 off eBay. Lightning fast shipping, I received the item on Tuesday the 28th. Seeing as is no mail Sunday this shipped out on Monday and I had it next day with no additional charges for shipping. It was a buy it now or best offer at $125 or so and they accent my offer around 60% of there list price. I made out extremely well off this unit as the graphics card in it alone I sold for $15 more than I paid for unit. Then toss in $50 for LCD and $100 for motherboard I did great. My ipod kept shutting off on me and I was not happy. Although my ipod was a first edition ipod nano, so roughly, 4 or 5 years old, I expected it to work. I took my ipod the Apple Store 14th street and another customer on line told me about Computer Overhauls. They are currently running a "fix your ipod for free" special. When I got there, they looked at my ipod and told me that I needed a new battery. I was more than willing to spend the money for a new battery than have to go out and buy another ipod.
