This was our first trip the The Conch Cafe and we had a ball. Our server was Adrienne and she was great. We ordered the Sea Sampler which has assorted fried samples and a shrimp salad and a bowl of She Crab soup. Both items were great. In the middle of our Appetizers we ordered sandwiches and asked them to be delivery in a bit. Well the soup and appetizers were all we needed so we asked for our sandwiches to be packed for us. I was so excited to try this place as it was next door to the house I was staying but it wasn't anything special. Drinks were great - but food was subpar. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing, but the fish tacos were so bland. I wish they had some type of creama or sauce for them. Just tasted like I made them at home. Grouper fingers were great. If I could give this place less than 1 star, I would. We had fish tacos. They were probably the worst fish tacos I have had in my life. The fish was obviously frozen and rubbery. No taste. To make matters worse, they wanted to charge us 15% gratuity for a takeout order. There are so many better options in the area. Stay away from this place. read more

2 years running, this has been our vacation night one spot due to its convenient proximity to our condo. It's honestly nothing special, and is more a spot to refuel after a long drive and unloading the car. Pina coladas are great, and seating is fairly quick for MB area restaurants. It's been hard to find places to eat around Myrtle Beach that we feel safe in and I was so grateful to find this perfect little cafe where we found servers wearing their masks and social distancing being enforced. I attempted to place a take-out order and waited an excessively long time while the server continued to make drink after drink after drink for other customers, ignoring me throughout the process. Then, out-of-the-blue, he abruptly added a substantial carry-out surcharge to my order, not to mention an additional fee for a credit card purchase (both of which are not listed anywhere). Upon wasting over a half hour of my time while repeatedly and demeaningly calling me "honey", I cancelled my order, waited further for the manager to refund my cash from the register drawer, and left, never to return to this shady, disreputable business again. read more

We went to Conch based on location (You can walk the beach to get there or drive) The food was descent. The Fish Tacos were ok, seemed like they just substituted ground beef for fish. The conch platter was good. Margarita wasn't anything to write home about...lacked tequila! Haha Overall, the server was good, scenery was great, food was good but not GREAT. Great location but staff did not even know when the restaurant closed. When we got there another couple coming out saying they were closing soon and they could not leave a reservation. It was only 7:;5 and the website said they close at 9 so I went in. The hostess told me they closed in 15 minutes and would not take my reservation. When I told her the website said they closed at 9 she asked somebody else working there who told here they closed at 9. So she finally took our name. While we were waiting several folks left and told us they had a bad experience. I would not recommend this restaurant. This is the restaurant equivalent of the little girl that finds the pretty seashells while strolling along the shore of the beach. Wonderful place located on the shores of Surfside Beach. We enjoyed the great atmosphere, tasty food, and awesome waitress! All at very very reasonable prices. One of the best and satisfying experiences in a long time. Food was okay. Beautiful views! Got a couple of apps and the mahi mahi tacos because we wanted something local and assumed it was local. Im unsure if it was local, but it was bland. I told the server that we wanted to hold onto a menu to maybe order something else. She checked on us once and even then I said that I thought I wanted something else and to please check back in a few. Had not been to the Ocean front Conch Cafe for several years . So a group of my friends were going for lunch and I joined them . I got a club sandwich and fries , but sorry to say it was just blah , the bread was barely toasted and it was like a sandwich I would pack in a lunch box for the kids. The fries were ok, A lot of the people at the table took to go boxes instead of finishing their food . So although it was nice to sit on their outside deck with the great Ocean view I will put this on my one and done list of restaurants with just average food. We ate here for a new spot on the beach. My wife wanted to try this place for several years. We had a short wait after placing our name in with the hostess. The location is prime and the view is beautiful. We definitely had to sit outside on the patio. The waitress was excellent and worked hard to meet our needs. The atmosphere was loud and it appeared the staff was overwhelmed at times trying to keep up with the service. We ordered the conch fritters, crab cake sandwich, and the shrimp poyboy. The fritters seemed bland and okay at best. The crab cake was a good a portion size with flavor. The poyboy was disappointing because normally a shrimp poyboy is served on a toasted hoagie with a pile of fried shrimp. Our experience wasn't bad. New owners continue the tradition of fresh seafood and steak with new items added to the menu, but still keeping favorites such as conch fritters and she crab soup. Staff remain, some with over a decade of experience, serving local catch and long tested recipes. With 38 years of experience, the cafe remains a local favorite right on the ocean with an expansive patio and indoor seating with a view. The inside dining with hard wood chairs and tables fills up quickly during lunch and soon grows very noisy. Our appetizer was the Grouper Fingers with thin strips of grouper lightly breaded and fried served with cajun tartar sauce. A good portion that gets its flavor from the zesty tarter sauce. Our main entree was the Grilled Mahi sandwich with a nice filet of grilled Mahi topped with lettuce and tomato served on a brioche bun. The Mahi is fresh, lightly seasoned and flaky but loses its flavor with the toppings and the bun. Spicy tarter sauce did come on the side but I tend to savor the flavor of the entree before being buried in condiments. A side of fries were crispy and hot. Service was friendly and efficient. Oh Conch Cafe.......we used to love you. We decided to give the cafe another chance after it moved and came under new ownership (or something like that). We came around 8 on a Sat night, this week being Easter week/spring break we could expect it being busy. What we didn't expect was to about to be seated, walking towards our table when in comes a group taking our table. Three other large groups decided it was too cold outside and left the hostesses (who didn't seem to know what they were doing) confused and scurrying to accommodate them while other customers coming in we're forced to wait. There were several two seater tables open and after 20 minutes of waiting the hostess finally got the bright idea to put the tables together so they could seat us. There were three of us, the hostess then said the waiter would be a while to serve us. All around the waiter was awesome and very nice, this is why I give this place three stars. The food was "meh". My mom had the seafood chowder and she loved it, my brother and I had the she crab soup, good but found shells in it multiple times which isn't good in a creamy bisque. I ordered the conch fritters which were all breading no conch. My mom ordered the honey soy glazed salmon which had no glaze and looked dry. The medium rare steak my brother ordered had to be sent back because it was very overdone. My grilled shrimp and crabcake meal--the shrimp were good, well flavored but the crabcake........one bite and I could tell they used canned meat. Couldn't eat it it tasted ammonia-ish. Again the only reason I'm giving this place three stars is because the waiter was a rockstar and once he served us, he served us quickly, magically refilled our drinks without us having to ask, was quick to correct the steak situation and was very very courteous and friendly even though it was obvious this little restaurant was not prepared for a busy Saturday night. The downfall of coming here is there aren't really any vegetarian options offered here. This was a great choice while on vacation at the beach! The service was outstanding and it is right on the water so that you may enjoy listening to the waves as your eat. We started off with an order of calamari, which was perfect! For dinner I had the seafood combo or 2 and chose fried shrimp and oysters. Heard so many good things about this place. Went twice in the past month and really, the only good thing about it is the service. Today the she crab soup was so watered down and the "special recipe" conch fritters didn't appear to have any conch. Those two items along with my cup of coffee was $24.....for lunch!
