I loooooove this place. Their vegan/ vegetarian options are flavorful. My client and I ordered from the website for delivery. I got the BYO black been and rice base w/ a side of street corn. I wasn't too crazy about the street corn. They put their own twist on it, I'm more of a classic gal lol (that's the -1 star) My client loved it tho. My bowl was packed & I had extra left over. Our chosen spot for our December (and holiday themed!) Book Club. The book: Holidays on Ice by David Sedaris. This was my first time there since this location opened in November. I was expecting it to be louder given that the last time I went to a Condado it was loud and crowded. We were able to be seated right away, however (though probably not that surprising given it was a Monday) and the noise level stayed favorable the entire time we were there. Service was prompt and pleasant. We got there in time for happy hour which takes place from 4-6 pm. I ordered the Cranberry Sauced and Tropicali margaritas as my drinks. I enjoyed both but thought the cranberry one could have been a bit more on the tart side. Everyone in our party ordered tacos. I built my own while others ordered from the menu. I got their ground beef for my base but definitely would try a few others in the future. We also greatly enjoyed the elote queso we ordered for an appetizer. This was also another place where the wait staff was really great about splitting our bill and dividing the appetizer four(!) ways. Condado is one of the better chains in town and every trip is a reminder of what a treat it is. I am so happy we have one now in the East end, it will easily compliment the open square and I can't wait for the outdoor seating/art/music situation to happen in the summer time. The decor and ambiance is casual and lively, this is their largest location yet (at least it seems so!) Alex, the bartender, was super polite and attentive and despite it only being a takeout order today (no wanting to cook the day before thanksgiving) he got our order together quickly and it was delicious. Had a cocktail - it was bitter and not tasty. We had the guacamole. There was a whole un-mashed avocado in there, and most of the rest of it was basically just avocado and jalapeno. We had three types of veggie tacos. They were loaded with jalapenos which over powered the flaovor of everything else. I don't recall the mayo sauce, the tofu, the beans, the veggies, or anything being fresh, or well balanced, or good. Condado's tacos are salty and spicy - the kind of food built to make you order more food at the bar to wet your parched throat. But as I mentioned, even the mixed drinks aren't very good. The atmosphere is so fun! Started off with their roja salsa, it has a nice little hot kick and the queso. The queso was delicious! The pitcher of the house margaritas was so worth it. You got about 7 drinks out of it! I got a beef bowl for my entree. I highly recommend adding their pickled onions and cabbage they were so flavorful and crunchy. Overall this place is great! I have no intentions of going back. This was my second time after more than 4 years later, when they opened at Lawrenceville. We got house margaritas - it was probably the worst margarita I've ever had in my life. It wasnt cold to begin with. The food/ the flour tortillas are store bought, they were cold. They probably use canned beans and my kids taco has probably 5? Beans. The rice is not authentic Mexican rice, no flavor. You can probably make it in a rice cooker? I got brisket, it was super dry. We've tried Condado twice now, once in Shadyside and once in Lawrenceville, and their tacos are pretty bad. I'm from Chicago where there are great taquerias on every other corner. A great taco is simple and about a few quality ingredients with a ton of flavor, and Condado is not that. It's about "polishing a turd" with as many sauces and funky ways to jazz up a taco as possible to cut costs. If you like that sort of thing, I'd recommend you try Mad Mex as a decent TexMex (good but inauthentic) place. But Condado is over-salted, over-sauced, and introduces a lot of complexity to a simple thing to hide the fact that they can't execute the simple well. To succeed, they really need to go back to the drawing board and adopt an entirely different philosophy on what a great taco should be. Two thumbs down! read more

I prefer the downtown location to this one. Server was very attentive and helpful. But either kitchen made wrong tacos or server picked up wrong order. Didn't realize after I had tried 2 tacos. They fixed it very quickly, which we appreciated. But overall it was a little bit too much of a machine line production for me- quality of food was good, not great. read more
