Do we think Condado Tacos realizes that in a lot of their locations, they are located around tons of other things that are more desirable than them? I feel like of the locations I've been to and people I've talked to about their experience at Condado as well, everyone has just happened upon it. No one ever intentionally goes out thinking they're going to eat at Condado but rather because everywhere else people would rather eat is too busy, so people choose Condado as a much later choice. At this Troy location, for example, there is Kura Sushi right next door to Condado. That place ALWAYS has a line, and my friends and I literally came here to eat while we waited for our number to be called at Kura haha. Don't get me wrong though, the food here is actually pretty good! I feel like their chips could be better, but all the tacos I've had here and other apps I've tried have definitely been solid. It's mystifying to me though that every time I walk into a Condado, even during peak lunch or dinner hour, and on weekends, it's never busy. So if you're ever jonesing for some tacos and don't want to wait, a safe bet would be Condado! I heard their margaritas are delicious as well, and I love their queso too. The only salsa worth having, especially if you do the trio dip of salsas & queso, is the pineapple salsa - that one SLAPPED. Came here on a Saturday evening after church and Redcoat had an hour wait. This place was full and I had a 5 minute wait. I've been wanting to come here since they opened, but haven't really had the opportunity to come. I e been to the one in Royal Oak and thought it was great as well. My kids have never been, so I thought maybe this will make be a cool dad. Just maybe but probably not. Service was great in a time when many don't want to work and would rather live off working peoples taxes, they seemed to be abundantly staffed. We started with the sky walker nachos, good but nothing to write home about. I think it's because the cheese wasn't like melter on but seemed runny possibly from the chicken juice. Also the nachos were on a tray lined with paper, and it was easy to consume soggy paper. I think they should lose the paper on the nachos. I had 2 tacos, $4 each and seems like a bargain. They are very filling and meaty. The choices are incredible here with the variety of meats and toppings. You can also easily make your own concoction, but I'd be afraid of messing it up like I was at Mongolian BBQ. The Korean bbq pork was very good. Ice tea was kept full. Went there on a Friday night and it was pretty busy. We decided to sit outside and enjoy nice warm weather. For drinks we had Corona Premier and Red Sangria. Corona tasted like water with tiny bit of flavor, sangria on the other hand was so strong I couldn't finish it. For starter we got chips and guac and side of salsa Roja. It was very good, chips were freshly made and guac was delicious too. For main, hubby got Cali Green Taco which he enjoyed very much and El Traditional which was just ok. I had BYO tacos, one with bbq pulled Jackfruit and one with vegan chorizo. I really liked that you could choose a lot of different toppings and sauces and everything is clearly marked as vegan. I got the "Three Buds" to share with my friend for $13 and they gave a heaping amount of chips and three dips to try. We got the Queso Blanco, Pico de Gallo Guacamole and the Elote Blanco. All three were good but our personal favorites were the guacamole for sure! Seasoned well and delicious! The two queso were a bit runny when we first got it but they thickened up real fast. I'm hoping the food and service might be a little bit better at this location, maybe slightly better than the one in downtown Royal Oak. The interior is like a controlled graffiti artists work. Crystal is our waitress today. The hope is that the parking situation and popularity won't be as frenzied as the one in downtown the RO. I'm keeping my expectations low, as I wasn't too impressed with the one in downtown RO. We ordered the three buds: guacamole, dirty queso and pineapple salsa. We also ordered a Lucy's fire and 4 up in smoke. Their packed bowl should be called a small or mini, won't get that again. The queso is unbelievably runny, too much water in there, that shouldn't be in there. The queso is lack luster. The guacamole is mushy and looks like the stuff in the plastic tube, that Yucatán brand that my step-dad loves and swears it's tops, not so for me. I am told it's fresh, but it doesn't have that creamy and smooth texture of fresh avocados. The pineapple salsa is just so-so, it is on a bed of the guacamole that isn't my favorite. The Lucy's fire and the 4 up in smoke. My Lucy's fire and my 1 up in smoke looked and tasted the same, but the cilantro lime aioli gives the Lucy's fire taco a bit of distinction. The Lucy's fire is better than the Up in smoke. Both of these tacos have a hard shell inside and a soft flour on the outside. I was under the impression that the Lucy's fire would only have the hard corn shell only, not the two. Their habanero mango and their dirty sauce are both good, makes the tacos even better. Cashing out took a bit of time, although we weren't ready the first time she came back to take the card. She took an order and then came back with a card reader to cash us out at our table. Service was great and greeter set us up quickly for a table before the others I was with came in. Wheelchair service was great. And the waitress was great. Much much better than the Ann Arbor location I went to about a year ago. Not as good as the midtown location but still better that the AA one. My boyfriend and I wanted to try out this Condado location - I've been to the Royal Oak one three times now (twice for dining in, pre-COVID, and once for curbside pickup in May). We ordered takeout tonight via phone, although you can also do online ordering; I normally would order online, but I was paying for some of it with a gift card and the rest via credit card. The new location is HUGE, and I can't wait to dine in there once we have a COVID vaccine. The (hostess?) informed us that one of our tacos was still being cooked, but we were able to pay for the order meanwhile. I thought it was a little odd that our order (for two people) took up two huge Condado bags ... when I got home I found out why. They accidentally basically DOUBLED our order ... pretty crazy but I'm not mad about it! This is what we ordered, and what we got: -Two make-your-own tacos. ---- I got a corn taco with tequila lime steak, tomatoes, cilantro/onion, pickled red onions, cilantro/lime aioli, and pineapple salsa, as well as a flour taco with basically the same toppings, except with chicken, Mexican chimichurri (instead of the aioli) and salsa roja (instead of the pineapple salsa). (side note: their pineapple salsa is DELICIOUS but not on any of the "pre-made" taco combinations.) -Side of chips and "pico de guaco" (LOL), aka guac topped with pico de gallo. -A Bud Box with 1 Braised and Confused taco, 1 "The Heater" taco, and chips/guac combo. We also received: -An ADDITIONAL Bud Box, with the same tacos and chips that my boyfriend had originally ordered. -An extra order of chips and guac (huge bag of chips, + side of guac). We ended up having two "Pico de Guaco" type guac's and two "regular" guacs, along with like 12 pounds of tortilla chips ... like I said, not mad about it! Overall the food was as delicious as I remembered it to be, and now I have maybe like a pound of tortilla chips (not joking) plus more guac for the week too. Awesome first time experience at Condado! Happy to be a part of the Condado family. We had a couple tacos a piece, a couple margaritas and chips & queso. Loved it all! The atmosphere was great, quick service and friendly staff. We both had chicken and steak custom tacos. The meat was really hot and the lettuce, cheese and tomatoes were really cold. Very interesting concept and create a very good tasting experience. The margaritas aren't too strong and aren't too dull. Queso is a bit liquidy but full of flavor! It's very "detroit-like", where you feel like you're at a dive bar down in Detroit. Refried beans are a bit spicy, beware! I'm not very tough so they were too hot for me! I've ordered take out here a few times now and my experience has always been good. I'm in love with the plain Jane tacos so that what I always get. There isn't anything plain Jane about the tacos though, they are so good! I tried the taco box and was surprise by the deliciousness of their guacamole. It's a creamy texture and very good. I decided to get a Korean BBQ and Lucy's Fire Taco, and really enjoyed both! The Korean BBQ taco is a bit on the spicier side, but the sauces, toppings, and pork taste exactly like what you would get at a Korean BBQ. Lucy's Fire was a very unique chicken taco, and consists of a hard shell inside of a soft shell taco which I really liked. The staff were friendly, and the service was fairly quick despite the weekend crowd. I would highly recommend trying this place out :) read more

My buddy comes here a lot for lunch and loves this place. So I decided to meet up and give this place another chance. Interesting place. The tacos are not traditional and have lots of stuff on them. With that being said , the tacos were not my favorite. I had a version of the brisket and steak tacos and both had so much stuff on it I couldn't taste the meat. I'll probably never go back, but since I live almost 2,000 miles away it's no big deal. The office I work at has ordered from here twice in the recent past, and both times the food was outstanding. A co-worker has ordered here another 2-3 times on her own, and she said the food was amazing every time as well. So, why not 5 Stars then? Every time we order ahead of time online we get the curbside delivery and leave a tip for it. EVERY TIME we've gone there they have not once come out to bring the food when we say we're there. I've waited twice myself (once 5 minutes and once nearly 10 minutes). No one came out. When I walked inside to get my food they weren't even that busy. They are either understaffed OR the person who does curbside during the lunch period seriously F'ing sucks. Going forward we will still order from there, but there will be no tip for whoever is doing carryouts/curbside because of whoever has been F'ing it up in the past, which sucks if it's not the same person and someone else is not getting tipped bc of the poor work ethics of another. Either way, I DO suggest going here based on the food quality and readiness, but suggest trying to eat indoors or simply picking up the carryout yourself, bc if you try for curbside you are very likely to get uber annoyed at waiting and then still having to go inside as my co-worker and I both have had to do on every visit. read more

The food was very tasty but I basically paid over $100 for seven tacos! It is very much like an overpriced Taco Bell. We did not have a bad experience, but the sticker shock has settled in for me. The service was okay. The wait staff was pleasant enough but not quite as a attentive or present compared to what I am used to since there were only a few other occupied tables during our visit. This was our first time at this restaurant (the server even asked if we had been here before, so he was well aware) so we did not know what to expect. The decor was interesting, it was a bit dark in there for a lunch time. I started with a pineapple express marg and a white sangria. They were both flavorful, but not incredible. A lot better than one of my more recent encounters, but definitely not the best this summer. The marg was fairly small with too much ice and not enough drink. While I profess I am a light weight when it comes to cocktails, and normally require more mixer, this one was not very strong at all, so it must have been very weak. Just a taste of tequila. The kids ordered agua fresca. It stated to choose a flavor, it did not taste for an up-charge. They both got mango. We asked if it was sweet and were told yes. It was not very sweet. We got more agave but the server refused to put in more mango and insisted the puree was too expensive and would have to charge us more. I have literally never heard of that before! Especially since I spent over a hundo here! Literally everything is a la carte, so they take advantage of charging for every extra you order. Plus, since it was my first time, I accidentally ordered wrong. That was on me, but my bill would have still been around $80 if I tweaked it a bit. I ordered the chips with the three dips. I meant to get the small dips, but since the server who knew it was our first time did not ask if we wanted the small or large portion, we ended up with four huge portions. We also got two trays with a small portion of chips each. We got the traditional guacamole. It was fair. The kids did not seem to like it, which is strange since they love guac, but this one did not appeal to them. I ordered the traditional queso blanco which was tasty but soupy. The best was the smoked cheddar queso. That was wonderful, full of flavor and savory beef. We also got the roja salsa which was watery and not memorable. I asked for silverware. I was told they only had sporks. This to me is strange to not have utensils for guests that request it, for as much as they charge, a small, flimsy plastic spork does not help when you want something in the dip for people to share and not just all dip their fingers in, especially during COVID! I had the Korean BBQ pork taco. The gochujang sauce was perfect. I am not an expert, but it tasted exactly how I remember it from other dishes, so sweet and spicy and savory and delicious. That was something I could eat all of the time. I also tried the blue dream substituting brisket for beef. It was very good. But after I finished the tacos I was not very full. I did end up with a lot of leftover dip, which was fine, they even threw in another bag of chips to go, which was generous. I am not sure if the chips were bottomless, but extra chips are appreciated since they only gave us two small portions for four people and four big dips. It was reported from the family that most members do not feel like they ever need to go back. You do get more value from either Taco Bell or a more traditional Mexican restaurant that has bigger portions for less money and complimentary chips and salsa and more generous drinks. I personally would come back if a friend invited me to hang out here but I do not think I would go out of my way to eat here especially since this location is surrounded by no less than four other restaurants that I am obsessed with and eat at often. Fantastic first visit! Was greeted by our server, Emory, who was friendly and knowledgeable; really enjoyed the Pineapple Express Margarita (a house favorite) that he recommended--subtle and smooth drink--while I waited for my friend. Since we'd never been before he walked us through the menu, letting us know what's spicy; making recommendations; answering questions as we browsed. We took his suggestion and got the Three Buds, and went with his recommendations of Elote Queso, Traditional Guac, and Corn Salsa and really enjoyed all three. I had three tacos: Blue Dream (ground beef), The Heater (steak), and the Korean BBQ (special of the day). The Blue Dream was excellent! I love how some of their tacos are in a hard shell, wrapped in a soft shell! The Heater taco was just good; I really liked the slaw, but didn't really taste the Chimichurri, and didn't get much steak. The Korean BBQ was too sweet for my taste--obviously none of these things ruined my experience, and I still give them 5 stars, I would just try something else next time. Let me just say that every time I go to Condado tacos it's a vibe. It's usually never a long wait I always get the Jackfruit Nachos and add some veggies on it. Always super good and filling, I order a drink(or 2).. who's counting.. they delicious! This last time I went It wasn't a wait to be seated plus they are featuring a "KEVIN" taco and my husband name is Kevin so he got a free shirt! So it did take a while for our drinks to come out, we had to mention that we still didn't get them to our waitress for them to get brought out and the food took a while too. But again I've been a few times now and that's usually never my experience so I will definitely be back. PS : please get some more veggie options soon! I was so excited to come here as I normally frequent the midtown location! Good is absolutely amazing. I ordered Nachos and my friend had street corn and nachos. Why were the nachos ice cold? I asked for warm nacho chips and the response was "let me see if the oven is still on"? That's odd,,, so is everyone getting cold nachos? The queso on the nachos were non existent and they were just dryyyyyy! I was so sad and disappointed as I opted to go here over PFC's. I didn't take any of it home. I got carry out from here. I got a Dutch dragon taco, Korean bbq taco, guacamole, and mango margarita. The place is about a 30minute drive from my house but I was out that way and I've been wanting to check it out based on the reviews. I picked up the tacos at the scheduled time. I ate the Korean bbq when I got in the car because I wanted to try it still hot. Unfortunately, it was ice cold. Not like it just sat out a bit, but like the ingredients came straight out of the fridge and went right into the taco with no care and no heat. It was pretty off-putting. I heated up the Dutch dragon at home, it was mediocre. The guacamole was an odd texture and old taste. It was smooth like it was puréed for a baby and darkish green like it was not fresh. I dissected the chorizo taco because it felt and tasted suspiciously like a ground beef taco... it basically is the same consistency with a hint of a chorizo spice flavor. I didn't finish a single taco and I'm a guy who POUNDS TACOS. Bottom line: Drive 2 miles East and one mile North and get Oaxaca because those are the best tacos in Troy. Family outing Condado was a success! Super nice staff who were on top of everything and super patient with my active and messy two year old. Menu was not traditional but food was flavorful and options were plenty. I loved my queso and Pomegranate Margarita the most! First time at the Troy location- it's quite bigger than the Royal Oak one and doesn't have the same "romantic dim lit" feeling and I appreciate that. There are large windows on both sides and plenty of light inside. Drinks- we shared a gran classico and one with mango, chipotle sour and a Pineapple Express. They were all really good but the non flavored gran Classico and pineapple were definitely the best. Appetizers- for the 6 of us we shared the full sized Three Buds; we got the pico de Guac, elote queso and the regular queso. They were simply phenomenal, each of them brought a little something to the party. The elote queso in particular is a must in my opinion. I've had the pineapple salsa at the RO location and that is also very very good. Main course- I like trying different tacos every time, but I always get the Bubba Kush. It's the only pulled pork one and this amazing jackfruit slaw/salsa that it's topped with is so good. Sweet heat and Lucy's Fire were my other two. Both are really good in their own right, with Lucy brining a different type of hard shell to the mix. None of them are very spicy, it's as if they found the perfect amount of heat to each taco where you get a little with every bite but it's never overpowering. So don't be afraid to go with the tacos that have habanero sauce in it. I get that these tacos are not considered authentic, but I don't eat tacos to be reminded of Mexico since I've never been there. These tacos are phenomenal. They are gourmet, two will fill you up but three is necessary if you're into self loathing. Love this place and I'm glad there's a location just a hair closer now! read more

My husband and I tried this place out for the first time today. We were originally planning on eating next door, but the smell coming out of Condado really attracted us, even through our masks. The server that took our order was extremely helpful and gave us a bunch of recommendations. I ended up building my own bowl and it included rice, black beans, tequila-lime steak, fajita peppers, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, corn, and I added a side of queso and a side of chipotle honey salsa. My husband ordered the skywalker nachos-- the portion of this was huge and the house made chips were amazing. We loved both dishes and was extremely happy we chose to eat here. Tried the Troy location out after visiting the Detroit location in 2019. The service here was WAY better, but the food was just as good. The tacos, nachos and bowls are INCREDIBLE and worth every penny. The ingredients were very fresh, and all of the flavors were vibrant. The space was well used; very roomy and I didn't feel cramped. The inside of the building was actually way bigger than I thought it'd be. Again, the service here was great! We were seated quickly and our server was prompt, courteous and accurate. Not sure when this location opened, but I was running an evening errand near buy and my daughter had heard good things about it, so we gave it a try. Whenever trying a new place like this, I like to order their "specialties" because I assume it is what they do best. I tried the Blue Dream, Up In Smoke and El Santo. they were all very good, but the Blue Santo was definitely my favorite. We also had the chips and quest which were quite good. This location offers curbside pickup which worked very well. They brought the food out to my car on a cold and rainy night before I even had a chance to text them. Today for lunch my wife and I decided to try Condado Tacos. We ordered two bud boxes. $10 a box for two tacos and chips. Great deal if you ask me! Being from Colorado the closest comparison I can think of is Torchy's Tacos but better! My usual complaint about tacos is they are small so you need to eat more of them. We both agreed that two tacos and chips were incredibly filling. The value is great along with the flavor! This all would normally produce a 5/5 in my book. However, we decided to give Condado a 4/5 stars because of how our order was put together. Side note, the parking situation is not great. This being our first time I thought everything would be labeled because my wife(pregnant) and I ordered four different tacos and two different sides. I gave the box that had my wife's order written on it to her. When she opened it there was guacamole, which she hates. No big deal, the sides must have just been switched. My wife bit into her first taco which was way to spicy (she is a spice wimp)this must have been mine I thought. After some investigation with the menu and our order we finally divided everything up. May not seem like a big deal but I hate when I order something and it is all mixed up when I am unfamiliar with the menu. Solution:Perhaps label everything opposed to just the box.
