I have been to this restaurant many times. We go there because it's a good menu, you don't feel like your meal is mass produced. It being May 5th it was obviously really busy. We waited a good hour and a half for a table which we understood. The menu was limited but I ordered my usual dish, arroz con camarones. We literally got our food 5 minutes later. Everything was prefixed. The Shrimp was so salty it was terrible, the rice was different, etc. For a meal that costs $19 dollars this was awful. The $14 dollar margarita's were mostly ice and the mix. The staff kept walking by and looking if we were done for a quick table turn over. We couldn't even enjoy ourselves without being rushed. Our first visit to this newly reopened I think restaurant and we agreed we would be back for another visit. While we are a tough foodie couple to please,we will be back for another try. A few reasons why we only give 3 stars: 1- service took way too long after seated to get even water, salsa or a waiter to attend the table. 2- the salsa tastings were very small and barely Enough to enjoy as a couple. 3- i had the veggie tacos and they were greasy, tasty but oily from the cooking oil. 4- drinks took a quite a while to come. Had chips for quite a while without water or our drink order. Which knowing me, Tortilla Chips with out liquid could be hazardous to the Throat. While noticing a table near us, with the Jimica salad ash burrito we both thought another visit would be worth another try. The dishes were very flavorful and the margaritas were fabulous. read more

One of the best Mexican food I have eaten in a long time. My family took us there and I am so happy they did. The garlic butter shrimp dish was full of flavor. Another couple at a different table came with us and they got their food, while we were still waiting to place an order. Surprising that there is this good of Mexican food in Rhode Island! It's really good and fresh. Fresh made tortillas & fresh made salsa are fantastic. Although I am really surprised I didn't see any fajitas on the menu. But I did see them being served. What gives? Anyways, they also have great margaritas, the best I've had in a long time. I was so impressed when I got here! The hostess was so nice when I walked in because I had a stroller with me and she's like I get it I have kids. She sat us and then our waitress was equally friendly! The manager was amazing as well. They also start you off with free tortilla chips and 4 of their dipping sauce's. One was made with beans, the other tomatillo', and then there were two traditional spicy red sauces one was really spicy and the other was mild. My 3 year old enjoyed them all! My 3 year old ordered the kids meal tacos and he ate them all. I ordered the California burrito and my sons father decided to get the carne asada. He said his was good but the steak was a bit tough. I loved my burrito & it was gigantic! It was so good I almost finished the entire thing! I really enjoyed this little spot and the Mexican food was great. The manager was so friendly letting my sons father know that as a changing table - but in the women's restroom. The restrooms were pretty well maintained so that's always a plus. I felt right at home here all of the staff was incredibly friendly- everyone we encounteted here from the hostess to the waitress to management. It's always great to find a restaurant you enjoy with great staff and its rare these days to find one that hits all your check marks for a great meal. We were extremely impressed with EVERYTHING. Second time ordering take out. Ordering was a breeze online and the food was ready exactas promised. The fish tacos were full of flavor and only lightly bartered. After getting out of work early, my boyfriend and I decided to visit Condesa Restaurant for a late lunch (around 3pm). We were pleased to see that the bar was almost completely empty, however after sitting and waiting for approximately 10 minutes before we saw any employee, we were frustrated and about to leave. Just as we reached for our coats the bartender came out (clearly not knowing how long we were waiting). We didn't let this affect the rest of our lunch, and ordered drinks. I had the watermelon margarita which was very refreshing. For lunch, we split the chicken tacos and the quesadilla al pastor. The quesadilla was extremely flavorful and a great portion. The tacos were tasty as well but the taco shells were a little dry for my taste. We finished the meal with a piece of tres leches to go. It was good, but I am not sure if I would get it again. I will return to Condesa when I am in the mood for Mexican with the hope that service will be more prompt. read more

I can't speak to the dining experience here but I've gotten takeout twice. There's a serious shortage of good Mexican in this area so I was hoping this place would be good but to me, it's average at best and the portions are super small. Are the portions different for takeout versus actually eating in the restaurant? The first time my wife and I ordered, they forgot an entree so we had to go back. I'll just speak about my meal, I got the Carne Asada. It's a very thin piece of steak served over rice with two slices of avacado. I hope you aren't hungry because you can finish this meal in 60-90 seconds. For $17, I expected something a bit more filling and this was more like a lunch portion. We decide to give it a second shot. I ordered the same thing hoping the first time was a fluke but no, it was the exact same portion. For $17 this is a complete rip off, it's like a kids meal. Luckily this time I ordered the California burrito too just in case they gave me the same small portion. The burrito was served with nothing else, just a burrito, no sides, no nothing. Just a burrito in a tin takeout container. For $14 bucks, you'd expect at least some rice or something. Basically for me to get full here, I had to buy two entrees for a combined $31 bucks, my wife's $15 salad w/ Chicken, plus a tip for the takeout person... it was around $50 bucks. I'm about 180 pounds so I'm not some competitive eater but these portions are TINY! Total rip off and aside from that, average food at best. I might be able to look past the size of the meals if the food was really good but it isn't. I'd honestly rather have Chipotle or Taco Bell over this place and I eat fast food maybe once a year. Chilangos or Rancho in Providence blow this place out of the water, not even close. This place shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as those restaurants. I'm all set with this place. I LOVE that they have a scratch kitchen, so many Mexican restaurants don't. Due to that, I was able to get soft tacos with wheat flour tortillas! I'm allergic to corn and many places won't do that switch for me! Plus, our waitress got me some wheat flour tortillas to go with the salsas because I couldn't eat the chips. I wanted to hug her. Highly recommend!! I've been here twice and both times were lovely. Great, attentive service from host/manager/servers, and delicious food and drinks. Also great atmosphere, and clean. Now that it's summer, the patio is open outside, which was perfect for a date night. There was no wait for a table (Tues 8pm), although it was still fairly busy. The drink I got, "Mamasita" was one of the best cocktails I've had in awhile, with silver tequila, pineapple and strawberries, and a chili-lime rim (something more but it's not listed online so I'm not sure. Sooo good though!) I got the same entree both times- the Chiles en Nogada. (See pic) I love that it is different, super flavorful, and also not a huge overwhelming portion, as can sometimes be the case with Mexican food. The guacamole is made to order, they have an abundance of gluten free options, and all of the dishes taste fresh and delicious. The staff are superstars, the setting is intimate, and the manager is friendly, approachable, and treats you like family. Recently relocated from NYC and missed small, quiet, comfortable places where you were treated like a regular but we've found a new home at Condesa. Pricey but for good reason.
