They also had an option for a tamale with chili which kinda blew my mind - I had never seen that before, so of course I had to try that. It was decent enough - I found that the chili over powered the taste of the tamale but the chili was good so no complaints. The location was sparse. It's a big enough space but most of the seating was old school-type seats with an attached desk. Didn't make a ton of sense. There were only a couple tables available. I wouldn't avoid going there again but it would have to be a time when I'm really craving a coney.

It is SO good compared to other coney places that are franchised. The chili is sauce style, however, it tastes meaty and doesn't have nutmeg or other weird spices like on of their competitors use. The staff is ALWAYS smiling and friendly, and even though I haven't gotten to go lately, they remember me every time I do go. The 3 coney special is what I enjoy, and I pay a little extra for kraut. Inside, it's decorated with "fat chef" decor and it has several tables. Nothing "flashy" or "fancy"...just down to earth people and a comfortable and casual atmosphere. They are classic little hotdogs topped with mustard, chili and cheese. You can add onions too if you like. Two chili cheese coneys was an ideal portion for me. Three would have been too many for myself. If I lived in town and felt like I wanted a small savory snack I could see myself stopping by for one coney and a small soda. Maybe a bag of chips too. Indoor seating is available. You order your meal at the counter, cafeteria style, pay and then can find a table to sit and enjoy your coneys or three way chili. Three way chili is spaghetti noodles with chili and cheese on top. Onions can also be added. Two sizes are available. It's served with saltine crackers. food though the combo meals advertised in chalk outside the…read morerestaurant were interesting to me, it was the black & blue burger combo, also a b&b for you hostelers out there, that interested me most. and while the onion rings i'd got on the side were excellent and very conducive for sharing, the burger in no way paled by association, as every aspect was on point, starting with the melty cheese that was distinct from the crumbles you might have tried previously on a salad, meanwhile maintaining the textural indication of portional bounty similarly present in the mounding of blue cheese atop dishes without cooking it. further, the complementary mushroom, and additionally flavorful peppers & onions from the grill stayed together with the burger and cheese within a fairly normal size bun, a credit to the complete integrity of the ingredients in maintaining layers of flavor in tandem with the often diverging culinary measure of structural unity. and lastly, i'll share what i'd learned from asking momma if the mushroom is commonly the reason for the "black" portion of the black & blue burger, to which she responded with her belief that it comes more from the blackening seasoning on the burger patty, with mushroom being not irregular, but also not staple for the black & blue burger. so, thanks to the generous restaurant menu writers for the bonus mushroom; the flavor was not foremost to me, but i'd assert the flavor of the pepp & onion would not have shined nearly as well without it. service excellent. the front counter worker was very knowledgeable of the menu, as clear in the listing of toppings to ask if all that comes with the burger as it appears in the menu was good with me. then, after mom received her drink before we left the counter, another worker delivered the food with impressionable speed, though not in a rush, as evident in asking if i'd want ketchup with the meal. ambiance contemporary vintage is a term that comes to mind for me, influenced in at least detectable part by the kind of store north of the restaurant, though the soda and other beverage memorabilia around the interior and to a lesser extent the exterior, definitely contribute too. i'm also quite fond of the craft wood booths and ample seating afforded by the spatially economical walkup order counter.
