Streetcar New Orleans must be the breakfast/brunch capital of the world - and Streetcar is right there among the best of them. Nothing fancy, but excellent service and outstanding food. I was in New Orleans for the 2026 Jazz and Heritage Festival, so my mornings were my own. I travel alone and don't always look for reservations when planning on a meal in this city. Streetcar Café is a perfect choice for what I was looking for: ample breakfast choices, a full bar, and excellent service by Andres. I ordered two poached eggs ($3.50), a single pancake ($4.50), and hash brown potatoes ($4). Totally reasonable pricing, and excellent meals, topped with the Always Summer (Malibu rum, Triple sec, OJ, Pineapple juice, Grenadine, $13). [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place filled up pretty quickly after I arrived at around 10 a.m.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Andres did an outstanding job of keeping track of my order, and served up the menu items piping hot. Couldn't finish it all, but it was a best-choice for brunch this morning.

We went here and it happened to be happy hour. Great because we're able to try a cup of Gumbo and Jambalaya which were still on our list to try while we were in town. We enjoyed both but I liked the Jambalaya more. Great flavors. We also tried their version of the Mufaletta / which they were nice enough to cut into 3 since they knew we were sharing. It was on a hamburger bun instead. It was great and prices were reasonable. But even more so while Happy Hour! Highly recommend. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cute decor![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

My coworkers and I stopped by midweek for breakfast (a little after 8am). We were greeted and seated almost immediately after entering. Our server was very quick to bring our drinks, and our food didn't take very long either. I opted for a black iced coffee (which was fine), and the French toast. I found the portion to be the perfect size -- not so much that I felt overly full but not so little that I was left hungry. While some parts were a little more eggy/soggy than I expected, for the most part the toast kept its structural integrity and was nice and fluffy. Flavor wise it wasn't overly sweet. If I were to nitpick, I'd probably like to see a little more fruit with the toast bc it was a little plain, but otherwise it was solid. After we left, I realized that I had left my bag behind, but luckily it was still there when I returned a few minutes later.

We ordered a cup of the Jambalaya and gumbo and it also happened to be happy hour when we came so they were $5 each. Great deal! And the flavors were very good. We didn't even know when we decided to go there that they had a happy hour. Just luck. We also split their version of the Mufaletta with fries. It was a nice late afternoon snack after a day of exploring!

    Jambalaya bowl

The atmosphere walking in is nice. I can't say the same about the service. For a first impression I would not be returning. I tried the Jambalaya was not to my liking. With the service I already experienced I did not want to even take the food back to exchange for something different. So a waste of money and experience will not return

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a popular place- it's small, clean, bright- cool decor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server was great. The food was really good- which is why it's so busy- full bar and great food.

We started with chocolate filled Beignets YUM then had 3 egg omelettes. Mine was seafood with several good sized shrimp, my husband had the veggie omelet. We loved the streetcar mural on the wall. Our waitress was super helpful and friendly.

One thing Jamie W and I noticed is that there is not a dearth of places to grab breakfast around Canal Street. Only a block away from our hotel, this spot has the right name since the green St. Charles Avenue streetcar line passes right in front of it. You halfway expect Blanche DuBois to enter looking lost and forlorn as she depends on the kindness of strangers. The staff is friendly here so no doubt Blanche would get the help she so desperately needed. We were just looking for something substantial and satisfying before heading to the airport. Jamie went for his homeward standby, the $15 Biscuits & Gravy where a couple of buttermilk biscuits were covered completely by thick country gravy with bits of sausage (Photo 9). It was the classic version which Jamie pronounced as 'pretty good'. We agreed the plate could've been warmer. I ordered the $16 Veggie Omelet, a three-egger with lots of ingredients. Sautéed mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, peppers, spinach, and melted cheddar. Check, check, and check. It came with a side of particularly creamy grits (or breakfast potatoes if you prefer), and I got my own buttermilk biscuit (instead of toast) (Photo 10). I think I got the better deal because I got more variety of textures and flavors with my order, in particular, those yummy grits. The $3.50 mug of Hot Coffee was much needed to wash it all down (Photo 3). FOOD - 4 stars...hearty takes on classic breakfasts...if you're really hungry, better [[HIGHLIGHT]]AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...spacious enough for a traditional cafe[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] SERVICE - 4 stars...quite attentive TOTAL - 4 stars...I have always depended on the kindness of strangers RELATED - Exploring New Orleans? [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very cute spot to grab a bite to eat and it really is right in front of a Streetcar stop.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Great shrimp po boy!

Red beans and rice. So tasty!

Stopped in because I was looking for somewhere near my hotel where I could try red beans and rice while visiting New Orleans. They make theirs with a tasty beef sausage and it was delicious. Creamy, smoky and savory. Absolutely delicious. Service was prompt and polite and [[HIGHLIGHT]]it's a decent sized space.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They also serve alcohol. Hopefully I make it back once more before leaving town. One of the best things I've eaten so far.

    Crab Benedict

The crab Benedict was great! I liked the hollandaise sauce and the biscuit versus it being on an English muffin. The potatoes were lightly seasoned. The food came out incredibly fast and the bartender was very nice.

    Shrimp Po boy

I craved a good Po Boy and Streetcar Cafe didn't disappoint. I ordered it dressed. The shrimp was perfectly fried and there was a lot of it on a big roll. Some places give put it on smaller rolls, hence smaller portions, but this was pretty bug. We had beignets for dessert with chocolate sauce for dipping. It was just as good as Cafe du Monde, the standard.

Service was great our server was so sweet and friendly the two eggs with toast was OK. I had the crabcake Benedict. It was not good at all. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was pretty packed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Everybody's very friendly[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], but as far as the food is concerned, enjoy the drinks

OMG!!!! This place was sooo freaking good!!! The seasoning and sauce was perfect for what we asked…read morefor. I came with a friend who had never had a seafood boil. I've never had crawfish and seeing it was crawfish season we were destined to be here. We built out our own seafood boil, which included, 1lb shrimp head off, 2 soft shell crab clusters, 1lb crawfish, corn, potato, and sausage. Let's just say we left with a pretty big leftovers box We ordered the hot house flavor and do not regret it one bit! Our server was so kind to show us how to peel and eat the crawfish and honestly it was so fun!! I will definitely be back next time in New Orleans!! One quick note I will say that I learned from a local that I wish I knew before this feast (And you should double check with staff if this info is correct). Most seafood boil places in the area when they have headless shrimp it is farmed and brought in from outside retailers where if you get head-on it's from local ships in the area/fresh caught. Apparently they've been struggling and if you want to support New Orleans local fisherman then go for the head-on shrimp. Again double check with staff if their head-on shrimp is local cuz I learned this information after visiting.

Ordered fried alligator bites and popcorn shrimp as appetizers...these alone were probably 4 stars…read morebut it went down hill after that. Took 30 min into the meal to receive the gumbo we ordered. Server would disappear for 20/30 min increments. As our meal we ordered snow crab slam - the shell was seasoned but meat was bland. Also tried the jumbo shrimp plate with fried rice, rice was very dry! Overall disappointing for 1st time in New Orleans. Ps. Restrooms were filthy!!!!
