Very knowledgeable, friendly, and funny. She made perfect suggestions, checked in with us, and remembered my friends birthday! If you come here, I highly recommend asking for her. My friends and I decided to go here for dinner prior to an Indians game. This was my first time at Conners and I wasn't impressed enough that I will likely go back. The biggest issue was the service. I understand every place is very understaffed and things may take longer, that was not the issue. Our server had many challenges. She forgot to put in our appetizer order, then put in one of our appetizers wrong, brought me an entirely different drink, never brought the right appetizer, had about 4 items on our bill that we never ordered plus charged us for the appetizer that we never received. The food was okay but not good enough to warrant a trip back. We were patient with our server since she seemed to be inexperienced. We came here for Brunch on a Saturday. The host staff is very nice, the decor of the restaurant makes the place look upscale and they allow dogs on the outdoor patio (called #yappyhour), in front of the restaurant, which is why we decided to sit down for a meal. HOWEVER, the service was sloooow and the food was only diner-quality, and therefore would be considered overpriced comparatively. The 2-3 host came back and forth to the front podium several times, but did not acknowledge the several people standing in line. It took 10+ minutes to even be greeted by the host, at which time we requested an outside patio table since we had our dog with us; and even though there were 2 available tables, we did not get seated for about 20 minutes. Another 10 minutes passed before we saw our waitress, and our water glass was dirty, which they replaced. After ordering, our food took 40+ minutes to be brought out. The waitress did not bring us utensils, and when it was brought to their attention, it took a while before receiving silverwares and napkins. We ordered the 'Double cheeseburger' and the 'Fried Chicken and Waffles'. The 'Double cheeseburger' is suppose to have a "brisket blend", but tasted like a greasy diner-grade burger with thin patties. The quality of the burger is similar to what I would buy from a 'Steak & Shake' restaurant, but overpriced in comparison. The 'Fried Chicken and Waffles' was dry. The waffle was dry and tasted overcooked/burnt. The fried chicken was not moist. When the entree was initially brought out, the single-serving syrup container was filled one-eighth of the way; so when a new one was requested, it did not arrive for about 20 minutes when we were already half-way through eating our food. Aside from the times when we ordered, and the food was brought out to us; the waitress only checked on us a couple of times in the 2 hours we were there, and our water was refilled once in that time period. The service was so slow that we saw other customers, who only ordered a drink/cocktail get up and leave because they waited 30+ minutes for their drink to arrive. If I have nowhere quick to go, I may visit this restaurant to try their cocktails, which seems appealing, but we did not try this visit. But I would not come here for food, rather if you want diner-quality and diner-style food, then just go down the street to the 'Steak & Shake'. read more

An early brunch before spending the day downtown, this was the most perfect spot! Seating was quick and service was fast. I ordered the lemon blueberry pancakes, a friend ordered the pecan french toast, and another the thick cut bacon eggs benedict. Our food came out quick. The blueberry pancakes were fluffy and delicious, the lemon portion was served as a sweet sauce on the side, it was a fantastic pairing. The side of bacon was perfect and crispy. The french toast was like a bake, she said it was warm and buttery and absolutely amazing. The portion was massive. The atmosphere is modern and upbeat, it has a nice warm feeling, with high ceilings and large windows. This is a great spot in downtown, prices are very reasonable with really great food! read more

The waitress was great and she had a ton of great honest feedback on the food and drinks. I always appreciate a waitress that can make good recommendations. IF I had to pick a complaint, it would be the mahi mahi was a little extra breaded for my liking, but the flavor of the fish was so great it made up for it! Loved the drinks too! Pomegranate-bourbon something (sorry, can't remember) was OUTSTANDING. For sure a slow sipper that went great with the fish! Also, if you get an appetizer and like crab, get the hush puppies. SO good! For sure will be back! Being a local, I honestly didn't even know this place was here (but it being in a hotel, it probably is more focused towards advertising those guests which is 100% understandable). Had a delicious steak and frites. Cooked perfectly. Fries were very good. We split a turkey Cobb salad and the dressing was outstanding. My wife had the fried chicken which came with a sweet pepper sauce on the side. Mashed potato with mushroom gravy was her side. Ice tea sweetened with real sugar mixed in back was one of best glasses of tea lately. Our server Carrie was so friendly, checked on us often, brought refills without asking for them. Stopped in for a quick lunch during a conference. No delays in our care, but the GM came to the table and made sure that we were taken care of and wanted to help our waiter. He used to eat this butter cake dessert at California Pizza Kitchen but it's closed now, so unless we're out of town, he doesn't have it. Well I found out Connors has one too! So we went specifically for that, we did have dinner: I had the double cheeseburger and he had the Quinoa veg chili, both super tasty. We also got to try their hush puppy crab cakes ( they have a check in coupon, your welcome). The vibe is perfect, dim, intimate, perfect for date night, or the bar seating for a fun casual night! So first off if this review was just about the service that we got I would've given this a five star. We arrived early for my friends birthday brunch and our server was super accommodating, got us drinks and even agreed to bring out some donuts for the birthday girl with candles and didn't charge us for that dessert. We had good service throughout and felt very well taken care of. Unfortunately where this restaurant fell short for me was the food and drinks. All our cocktails were extremely strong and rather pricey considering we couldn't really finish them. My French toast was delicious. But I definitely felt that it was a little overdone and lost some flavor because of how much pecan was on top of it. my partners fried chicken was undercooked and his waffle was a little bit from being fully cooked as well. My friend even felt that her pancakes were not cooked all the way through. Considering how expensive all the entrées are I expected a little bit more in terms of quality. However in terms of quantity you are definitely not going to go hungry for how much you're spending here. One bonus was that they do validate parking in the Marriott garage which is helpful specially since mall parking tends to be a little bit busier on weekends. read more

We came by here because we thought they had drink specials but that doesn't apply on the weekends. We still had a beverage and decided to have dinner. I had the ahi tuna salad and my husband had the Cobb salad. Both salads were very good, super fresh tasting and not drowning in dressing. The atmosphere in the restaurant is nice, music is a bit loud and they had the windows open and it was a but chilly out. I would probably come back during the week for happy hour and partake in the drink specials. I have heard they do have a great brunch. read more

The crab hush puppies are to die for and I love the citrus dip that comes with it. They were fried perfectly and you can see the lump crab. This place needs to be on everyone's list for happy hour. They have great deals. I tried some of the menu items at a Yelp event and really enjoyed everything. I've been to happy hour twice. Both times were on a Wednesday so the $5 drink special was the prickly pear margarita. It's delicious! They have a different $5 drink special Monday-Friday. They also offer half off appetizers. The crab hush puppies are insanely good! I also really like their brussel sprouts and deviled eggs. The nachos were just okay. They have plenty of high top tables in the bar and also offer outdoor seating. Service has always been spot on. The first time I went they ran out of the drink that was on special so they offered me another drink at the same price. Happy hour is from 3-6 PM every Monday-Friday. Highly recommend!! read more

Was at Indy 500 today and came here after the race because a lot of people recommended it and it was close to our hotel. The place looks really classy, wasn't really that busy when we arrive and they sat us down right away. The menu was simple with a good variety. It did take a while to get some water on the table, but our server was very nice and accommodating. We ordered the nachos and the crab hush puppies plus fish tacos and ribs. The nachos were very delicious, hush puppies were on the plain side. The fish tacos came with creamed corn, it has overall very good flavor. And the ribs were well cooked. However, nothing stood out compared to Chicago standards. I would of given this place a four stars compared to what else is around here, but overall, it's not on the same level with restaurants in the same price range else where. This restaurant is attached to/inside of the Marriott across the street from the conference center. It is convenient when you're in a pinch for lunch or dinner while at a conference. I stopped here a few times during my stay. I had the pulled pork nachos and they were amazing!!! There are two sizes to choose from (1/2 or full). There is a lotttt of cheese and toppings which most places lack with their nacho dishes. Let me say that the half size is plenty for two people to split. I would highly recommend them as an appetizer or quick snack. One of the days I stopped for lunch and had the Supernatural salad. On the menu it appeared to be so delicious. It came to the table and I struggled through the whole salad. The flavors and ingredients do not mesh. I would not recommend ordering this salad. Overall, the restaurant is beautiful and the staff is great! I would definitely recommend checking it out if you stay at the Marriott or are at a conference across the street. read more

Honestly I wasn't very impressed. It's a nice enough atmosphere/layout and the drink selection was pretty good (if over-priced) but the food left a lot to be desired. I tried the southern fried chicken. It was bone in which was fine but it was incredibly greasy and the honey sauce to pour over (literally just honey I think) didn't exactly add much. I've had better at KFC for 1/3 of the price. The desserts weren't excellent either. I ate with a fairly large group and I didn't really hear anyone rave. I wanted the waitress to catch on at the fact that I didn't eat meat, but she asked if I wanted a side of eggs. I was in town for a conference and wanted to grab a quick brunch before heading to my first meeting. I ordered the Thick Cut Bacon with Egg Benedict. As expected the food was delicious. The hollandaise sauce was OK, maybe could have used a little more lemon, possibly? But the poached egg was nicely cooked and fluffy. The bacon was cooked perfectly, with a pretty good thickness, seem like pork belly more than bacon. The English Muffin was a little touch for my liking but I enjoyed it with my bacon and eggs. The grilled asparagus which accompany the egg benedict was cooked perfectly, not too soft but not too hard. It was nicely grilled with perfect grilled marks on the asparagus and grilled cherry tomatoes. Overall, I enjoy my experience at the restaurant and I would recommend to any guest staying at the Marriott. read more

Visited this little place associated with the Marriott in downtown Indianapolis as part of a reopening promotion. We ordered the lump crab hushpuppies. They were good, but several were under cooked in the middle. My granddaughter ordered the Smoked Pork Cubano sandwich it came with fries. It was rather plain. My daughter ordered the Prime Rib French dip and also thought it was very plain with too much bread to meat ratio. My other grand daughter ordered the southern fried chicken. She loved the chicken, however, found the gravy on the mashed potatoes overly seasoned and congealed ( inedible). The first bite of coleslaw was good but the second was too spicy and not in a good way. I ordered the Wagyu Bistro Steak Frites. This was a really terrific steak and I would come back just for this. Wasn't happy that it was served with fries though and asked for chips. The chips were pretty great. Their Signature Old Fashion was delicious. Our server, Dennis, was outstanding. This was comped as part of the reopening, however, a bill was provided. It was very pricy for 4 people. Stick with the steak, chips and cocktails and you'll be pleased. read more

I'm not too familiar with hushpuppies but these were essentially deep fried cornmeal batter with bits of crab served with tartar sauce. Pretty good, but nothing to write home about. For entrees, we coincidentally both had salads. I had the kale salad with dressing on the side which was solid. My friend had the turkey cobb salad which already had turkey cubes. Both were light and a solid meal. Because we couldn't be too GOOD for our meal, we shared a side of fries for $4. Overall, clean and solid place for dinner if in the area. read more

Daughter and I ate at Conner's, not realizing that it is a Marriott facility, 011520 evening. Foolishly expensive and typical Indiana quality food (mediocre). The folks who rate this place more than two stars must be employees. I had the highly recommended (by the male bartender at the JW Marriott) fried chicken dinner. The thick, tough, tasteless armor-like breading made the chicken nearly impossible to eat. First step, crack open the breading, discard it, and then eat the chicken. If you have ever had "real" fried chicken, you will recognize the Conner's version as an imposter. Further, the chicken leg oozed bloody juice. The manager comped our (small and ridiculously expensive) guacamole appetizer in restitution. I assume he returned the leg to the limping live chicken. On the plate with the imitation fried chicken was a flat plop of what looked like reconstituted mashed potatoes with a small crater containing about a tablespoon of brown gravy-like goop. No taste to either the potatoes or the gravy. Daughter had the oddly breaded and expensive Mahi. Absent the breading, the Mahi was OK. The upside was our server, Katie, who was cheerful and accommodating. Keep in mind that hotel related bars and restaurants cater to people on expense accounts or to people who don't know where else to eat and, thus, are trapped. Drinks consist of 1.25 ounces of the liquor portion, according to the bartender at the J.W.M. My drink was $12 (for 1.25 ounces of Jack Daniels = $12 x 20 pours per fifth = $240 per fifth versus the retail price of $33 per fifth). Again, unless you are on an expense account and do not much care about the quality of the food, beware eating/drinking at a hotel facility. Summary - Relying on reviews posted by Indiana people is dangerous. Many Hoosiers think that gustatory heaven means eating chicken and noodles ... no recipe required. Parking at the Marriott garage is minimum $25 for the first 3 hours or less. To be consistent with the food/drinks, the parking spaces are tiny. read more

This place is trendy and fun! I liked going when the patio windows were all open early this summer and hanging out with coworkers. I haven't tried the food but all of the drinks I've had were really good. We sat at the table for about 15 minutes before anyone helped us and we had to go get a manager to find a waiter. But once that was resolved, the service was good. Seemed to just be a one-off mistake. It's a little bit pricey, but that's not surprising considering its in a bougie hotel. My party and I went decided to come in to try the Late-After Hours menu, and indulge in a few cocktails. To our dismay, we basically walked into a failed situation. As we were seated by the hostess, we noticed the wait staff was very busy (and that's understandable), and as a result my party was not greeted in a timely manner (probably 20 minutes tops). Once a server came to our table, we were all completely ready to order; giving our menu selections and cocktail selections with also a request for water. Thinking that our orders were placed, my party conversated for at least 30 minutes once we realized 3 things, 1. Our server has not brought our cocktails nor water, 2. Customers sitting nearby were experiencing the same service as us, and 3. Questioning what's up with our food and what's the hold up. With a turn of events, our server, regretfully comes to the table after 45 minutes now of waiting and says, their fryer "allegedly" broken and food would be ready in another 45 minutes, and stated she had not placed our cocktail orders OR even thought of giving us water! No food, no libations, not even water. Its already 2am at this point...just scratch our orders, we left. The ambience was inviting for a moment, but definitely left with disappointing 1st visit.
