Fisherman's Pie and Curry Fries
Jessica L.

This is one of my favorite comfort food spots in Ann Arbor. Connor O Neil's has wonderful bar food and their fisherman's pie is to die for. It's a great place to watch football games too! Having everyone cheer while they root for their team is fun. The waiters are quick to ask how you are doing, and you can also stand at the bar during game nights. The lighting is dim, but it really gives off Irish pub vibes. Love coming here for a night out. Keep an eye out for their curry fries!

Dirty Menu

Food This was a so-so experience. I ordered an appetizer and a dessert. The food was delicious. The Button Mushrooms, I ordered, were supper tasty; the cream sauce was the best part of it all. It came with lots of bread, which I felt was unnecessary, especially if it's meant to be served as an appetizer. Also, I felt the bread could've been fresher. The Strawberry dessert I ordered was a hearty healthy treat: minus the sugar of course. I didn't order any alcohol, though it's a pub/restaurant. I just wasn't in the mood. So, I can't contribute to the quality of the drinks. Service The service was okay. When I arrived, the female hostess (I'm assuming her position) shuffled through menus to find the cleanest menu which was still dirty in my opinion. However, the fact that she attempted felt nice. My waitress seemed sweet. She didn't mind replacing my glass when I noticed sanitary issues. I did feel a little put off though when I asked for sparkling water and she corrected me, calling it "soda water". Sparkling water is the traditional name of carbonated water. I understand that some call it "soda" or "seltzer" water but that's not what I'm used to. Nonetheless, it doesn't matter really; if a guest orders something and you understand, why make a deal of it? I felt that was a bit condescending. Atmosphere The setup is self-seating. The outdoor seating, which seems to be preferred by most of the restaurant's guests, could use some work. The ground is not leveled properly, which causes many of the tables to rock or be slanted. The interior was very dark but felt very Irish (of course it would). The old wood bar and seating sets the vibe. However, I do feel that the tables of the booths could be updated.

Pub Wings (Hot)

Conor's has really grown on me over the years! Good beers, and the food is better than what you imagine typical pub fare to be like. Their Irish style poutine is so good and hearty, with a solid shepherds pie mix along with the fries, cheese, and gravy. Pub wings are good too (would note that hot is not particularly hot). Michigan salad was alright - I did appreciate this was a little different than what I usually see for a Michigan salad, but maybe a little heavy handed on the creamy dressing and goat cheese. Didn't order this time, but I also like getting Fish & Chips here, especially as they have malt vinegar for the chips. A very solid option for a casual dining spot. Does sometimes get quite busy, but I think in later hours. Several years ago I went on St Patrick's Day night, and it was absolutely packed. So depending on if you like that or not, go early or later!

Mushy Fish & Chips and the one piece looked like someone took a few bites of it before we got...gross

This place has really gone down hill with food quality. The portions are noticeably smaller and the fish and chips are a frozen mushy mess. Staff are usually friendly and a good atmosphere, but the food has fallen off, very disappointing.

Potato & Leek Soup

My wife and I stopped in for lunch on a Sunday. It was not busy. I had a Black & Tan (not well poured, ) and the potato leek soup. I love the soda bread that comes with the soup. They do the soup their own way, which I appreciate. And, for a bowl of soup for $5 (in 2023) it is one of my gems in Ann Arbor. Yummy. My kids love the Big House Burger when we come. Traditional Irish Pub which has been around enough to be getting an authentic pub feel. The tables are getting beat up, but feel solid. There are various tables for different size parties, and lots of standing room with ledges to set down a beer. It is a bit dark on the inside (as it should be), but they have added patio seating to enjoy the sun with the black and tan. Conor O'Neils is one of our Go-To s in Ann Arbor. We can generally get a table. Food is always good. Service is always good. And, they usually know how to pour a black & tan.

Lamb Stew

This is a nice cozy Pub. Good food. Good service. I had the lamb stew and my wife had the chicken Pot pie. They had a decent beer list.

Wasn't allowed in with my kids. Called ahead a few days before and was told it would be ok. Drove a long distance to watch US soccer game.

Great vibes + Excellent Service + Good Grub = Casey's…read more And that's a math fact! Also- good proximity to the train station, Yost Ice Arena, and other cool stuff.

Been a customer of Casey's literally for over thirty years. It's been our go to pub in Ann Arbor…read moreand we never have to think twice about having a good meal. Stopped in for lunch today, we ordered the tuna on sourdough and a turkey Reuben and a local IPA. Sandwiches were fine but the fries were absolutely horrible. Cold, chewy and uneatable. They tasted like they were made the two day ms before and left under a heat lamp overnight. A nightmare for our tastebuds. The waiter never returned to check on us so we decided to just forget them and finish the sandwiches. It was after 1 pm the bar was mostly empty so it wasn't a busy place. Eventually the waiter came with the check and we told him about the fries and he shrugged his shoulders and said it was maybe the cooking oil. No, they were ice cold. He offered to send out a new order of fries but we were done with our meal and had enough. Asked the waiter to at least take them back to the kitchen to let them know but he didn't do it. Asked we walked to our car, two kitchen staff were relaxing by the back door, taking a smoke break. Post Covid Ann Arbor restaurant service has declined but Casey's really have/had the best fries in town. Hope the get back on track.
