I had high expectations for this restaurant. The lakefront views and live music are the main attraction but the food and service was poor. I ordered the seafood platter and while the shrimp was fresh, it was 100% unseasoned. It took over 40 minutes to get our food and we all ordered seafood platters. It came with a side of seasoning, but that did not change the very bland taste. The drinks were super watered down and barely tasted any alcohol. A lot of the front house workers appeared to be bored or uninterested in the environment. The hostess wore sunglasses inside the building and bathroom was a mess. There was food and toilet paper on the floor. The trashcan was overflowing, and the paper towels were out. When we first found this place about 6 months ago we quickly became frequent customers. The beer was cold, view was great..live music on weekends. It was great. Huge selection on the menu. One week I'd have the stuffed baked potato, the next the double cut pork chop. The burger with onion rings and brisket was my fav. Last week i wanted a good burger. We had an excellent time at Conroe Lake House! It was our first time here and my husband and I were very impressed with the quality of the food, ambiance, and service! It was happy hour so the frozen margaritas were 5$ which was a great plus. There is an area with a playground for kids to run and play and even an enclosed dog park. We stopped by Conroe Lake House on Wednesday night for their Steak & Bingo event, and once again, it did not disappoint! They were also running an incredible lobster special for just $9.99, which we obviously had to try and it was absolutely delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly, the lobster was tender, and we even ended the night with their peanut butter pie. The atmosphere was fun, relaxing, and perfect for mid-week plans. We've always enjoyed dining at Conroe Lakehouse because they have great salads and grilled chicken wraps. During our most recent visit, we were disappointed to learn that the restaurant no longer allows any substitutions for the French fries that come with the wrap--even something as simple as substituting their green beans. We've ordered that healthier substitution in the past, so it was surprising to hear the policy had changed. The manager was very kind and even shared that she disagreed with the new policy, but she wasn't allowed to make the substitution. This is an unfortunate policy because many customers are trying to make healthier choices, and even most fast-food restaurants allow a healthier side substitution. It also makes me wonder how situations involving food allergies or dietary restrictions are handled if no substitutions are permitted. We hope ownership will reconsider this policy. Offering a simple side substitution is a small accommodation that would go a long way toward keeping loyal customers happy. read more

We've visited several times and for some reason the wait time for food is always long. It is overall a good meal, but it always takes a while to get your food, so don't be in any hurry. Came here in a Thursday night in December to celebrate a birthday! It was quiet that night but I'm sure the weekends, there's always a crowd. Very large portions for such a good price. I couldn't decide on what to eat so I ordered the Lake House Sampler. Loved the fried mozzarella but could've done without the fried pickle spears. The worst old fashioned I've ever had. It was bright red from all the bitters, no cherries, regular ice, no simple syrup and a big fat soda straw. (It's a signature menu item) Eating a stick of deodorant would have been more pleasant. Had to wait for the bartender to finish his snack so we could cash out and leave. . First off I want to address on the Karen's that have made some negative reviews towards this restaurant. This place is going to be busy as well as service might not be fast at times. It's part of coming to a restaurant that's along any body of water especially when it over looking a place like lake Conroe. The service was amazing especially with how packed this place was. Outdoor seating was nice and clean and the restaurant had fans set up to help give some relief to the customers that were eating outside. I hope that whomever is reading this review can realize and understand that you can't expect every restaurant to be flawless. People are always known to make mistakes. It's how we learn. So please take every negative review you read with grain of salt because the majority of the time the person writing the negative review doesn't have the common sense or understanding that things can't be absolutely pitch perfect. I called and tried to make a reservation and was told reservations had to be made in person at the restaurant. Since I'm coming out of town that isn't an option. It was so loud in the restaurant that it made it hard to relax. We had to wait a long time for our table because they don't do reservations on the weekends. They didn't have enough menus, cups or silverware for everyone in our 9 person group to get one. We had to share menus, only two of us got real cups and two of us had to use plastic forks. One person ordered crayfish and they got their food right away the rest of us waited an hour for our food...including the person who ordered a salad. One of the people we were with found a bug under their fish. They told the waitress and she just kind of said ew and took the plate. No offer to replace the food and no one came over to apologize. My family and I went in to try out Conroe Lake House for an early lunch one afternoon. There was very few people in the restaurant when we walked in and were seated. We ordered around of beers and Bloody Mary's as we checked out the menu. We made our selections, Hang Over Burger, Southwest Burger, Fish Tacos and Brisket Grilled Cheese sandwich. What struck us all right off was that the waitress who was very nice had to keep going back to check on the availability of most of the items we ordered, both drinks and food. Now this place just opened and they really should not have been out of much at 11 am but the person in charge didn't seem to think this was abnormal. When we did receive our food, it was all very good in terms of taste and presentation and we really enjoyed our meals although the service was a bit spotty at times. The other thing that we noticed was that our table and several others near by were really dirty. Dirty as if they had not cleaned up properly from the night before. A couple of weeks later, my wife and I returned to have a burger and few beers and give them another try. Again the food was really good, but our waitress and the service as very poor. She spent more time hanging around the bar and did not seem very interested in taking care of her customers even though they were not that busy. We really enjoyed the food and the view of the lake, but being out of so many items and the poor service will probably keep us from coming back in the future. read more

The rest of the drinks had about half of them wrong but not worth arguing. The fried mozzarella came out fairly quickly. They were the best part. Each one was a good size. I had ordered the blackened shrimp on the Barbie. My food being "warm" was a stretch. The sweet potato fries had more of a warm to them. Overall I'd stick with apps.
