Had my birthday dinner there with some friends and the food is just amazing. We all shared tapas and seafood paella. The Ceviche Lima was the star of the tapas but the Calamari Frito was quite good. The seafood paella is one of the specialties and it didn't disappoint. The clams could have been bigger but how can I complain when I live in the desert Southwest? If you're looking for tasty drinks, a nice ambience (with apparently gorgeous patio views that we need to come back and enjoy!), and pretty solid tapas, Contigo Latin Kitchen is the place for you. We've been here twice and have left happy and satisfied. Though tapas are traditionally small plates, the servings here are big! We over-ordered for 2 people the first time around (about 7 tapas plates), but the food was overall delicious, and we learned our lesson for next time. Our favorites are: - Las favoritas: chorizo stuffed dates wrapped in bacon, my husband's favorite tapa because of the mix of salty and sweet - Calamari frito: lightly breaded, the creaminess of the garlic aioli sauce goes so well with the crunch and saltiness and comes in a large portion - Patatas bravas: nice fried crispiness on the outside but soft and moist on the inside, aioli sauce is delicious with this too (probably my favorite of their sauces) - Favorite drink: piquito picante - a gin based drink that is so refreshing with cilantro, cucumber, and jalapeño They also have a rotating empanada which is one serving that is split in half. For other dishes, we've had the bombas contigo (a little on the heavier side and average), the tostada contramar (we loved it the first time but tasted overly marinated that it overpowered the salmon flavor on repeat), and toreados (seared but slightly missing that more blistered charred taste that I was craving). Overall, it was a very positive experience with good friendly service, a cute ambience, and great beet salad. In fact, the beet salad could be the best I've ever had. A cool "meaty" beet with cucumber and onion seemed to quench the dry heat of Tucson. Paella, however, was a disappointment. The flavor was ok but the shellfish didn't taste fresh. I suppose once you're spoiled with fresh seafood on the island, it would be hard to find similar freshness in the southwest. I'll comeback and try other menu items. read more

When we first moved to Tucson five years ago, we went here. Wasn't all that impressed with the food. The good news is, we've recently given it another chance (twice). Food was better for me, not so much for my wife. Here's the real issue I had, though. Both times, we had reservations. If you have a party of two and don't go super early, you will be sat in the bar area. Nothing to look at but either a patio or the bar. The two tops are mostly there in the bar area. The entire lower dining room was four and six tops. There is an inner room between the patio and the bar, there were a couple of four tops there where one or two couples got lucky enough to sit. If you are a couple or a party of two and going there, make your reservation very early if you want the patio or a view. Otherwise, you will be sitting, looking at a packed bar and nothing else. Because of this and this alone, we may not be back. If I could encourage the management to look at perhaps smaller chairs, there might be a way to at least make it where the orientation of those 3 two tops were different. Reserve in advance if staying on the property it's well worth it. We arrived at our reservation time and were seated immediately. After looking over the menu we decided we were going to try three courses. Appetizers, salad and entree. We started with the calamari and the bombas. The calamari was crispy and came with two dips. The bombas were like potato crochets filled with cheese in the middle. The sauce it came one had a spicy kick to it which was awesome. The soup was probably the best tortilla soup I ever had. Great flavor, bit of a spicy kick with chunks of chickens. The portion size was pretty big. The fish tacos, rice and beans were good too. We were so stuffy by the time the soup and tacos came out we couldn't finish it all. This is the second time staying at the Westin property but our first time eating here. The restaurant itself if beautiful. We sat outside and I was thankful for the warmers. I asked for decaf coffee and the waitress said she didn't know if they had it right now ( I was a server many years and her coworkers use that excuse when they were so lazy to brew a fresh pot). The calamari lacked flavor. We ordered the pescado Veracruz and the mariscos paella. The fish was ok not anything that I would make a trip back for but the paella was horrible. The rice was so crunchy and the seafood had no flavor. We didn't finish the calamari and left most of paella. If you want good calamari go to Tito and pep, cheaper and way better quality. As many others have noted, the patio and view is amazing! Very prime for the view out over the mountains to enjoy the sunset. Very well appointed with umbrellas for the sun during the day and heaters to stay warm in the cool desert evenings. Great selection of cocktails and tapas to enjoy for a happy hour or into dinner. Menu has a little bit for everyone - from tacos to ribeye steak to gazpacho. Vegetarians will have enough to have choice as will carnivores and kids. It's a "latin kitchen" so has a mix of tacos and margaritas as well as paella and sangria. The bread and chimicurri hits the spot to start. read more

I've been to Contigo a few times and was underwhelmed my last visit. The incredible view of the sunset from the patio and the tasty cocktails are what keep me coming back. The service, however, was really disappointing and the food is only okay. This is of my favorite spots for a nice sunset, drink, and a meal in Tucson. I will probably look into alternatives for the future. The food is very mediocre and overpriced, as expected from a hotel restaurant. There was one vegan entree and the sides were described by the waitress as vegan, but turns out they weren't. For example, the plantains are drenched in honey. Not taking any stars off for that because it's not really a vegan/veg restaurant. The service really needs work. Our waitress was pleasant but absent. She seemed to be servicing the entire patio. In fact, my friends waited 15 minutes after food was brought out before we could find anyone to bring out spoons for their soup. The person who delivered our food dropped them in a rush at our table and let us move the plates around to whomever ordered which dish. We didn't even have a chance to ask for spoons for the soups. Second round of drinks and bread were also really slow to hit the table. The cocktails are fantastic and fairly priced. The mojito and the Latin smash were strong and flavorful. My friend really liked the pisco. Highly recommend those. Parking is plentiful which is always nice. Overall, I will be back for drinks and a view, but not for the food. I've been here twice with my SO. We love the paella here! Below are our thoughts and dishes that we tried: Paella Valenciana for two: $58 Bomba rice, shrimp, mussels, clams, chicken, and chorizo. LOVE this dish. Everything in it works well together except the very dry chicken. Parillada Platter for two: $59 Platter of picanha, lamb chops, ribeye with Argentinian chorizo, roast marrow, salsa verde, and seasonal vegetables. Meats were a bit bland and not cooked medium rare as we requested. The best parts were the bone marrow and chorizo. Bacon-wrapped Dates were filled with chorizo. Fell a bit flat for me. There was no contrasting texture or flavor in the dish. It was overall sweet and I won't be trying this again. The interior of the restaurant is dim with a decent amount of seating. The chairs are not very comfortable. Service is decent here. read more

I came here with a group of friends to celebrate a birthday and the food was amazing. I usually take pictures and forgot this time unfortunately, but let's start with the Tapas, we tried a variety and they were all delicious. I especially liked the ceviche, the spicy olives, and the calamari. They are all a decent size and great to share. For dinner I had the Mahi Mahi which was delicious as well. Some of the guests got the paella which is large enough to split with 2-3 people. The wine list is also large with a variety to choose from. Will plan to go back for sure! We had a great great time first time at Contigo. Our food was very good. High priced, but then it is on the grounds of a Marriott. Maricimo was our waiter and very friendly but a little distant. Only real rub, after dinner I order a glass of Grand Marnier in a brandy glass. What I go was, maybe Triple sec? definetly not Grand Marnier...I said nothing...should have but thought if they need to cheat customers more than being honest...I would let it slide. read more

Just GO HERE!!! Everything is a flavor bomb. I did not even take pictures- but the bombas, los favorites, and beet salad were to die for. Everything that came out of this kitchen was amazing. Hubby had rib eye and the steak was delicious and well carmelized and seasoned; and his fries were ACTUAL FRIES. If you know you know. They burst with flavor potato flavor and were crisp outside and rich and delicate inside. We sat out on the patio which was as warm as my grandmother's house in winter, thanks to the multiple types of heaters. Never did we feel chilly, at one point hubby joked that his eyebrows were singed, so he moved to another seat at our very roomy four top table. He's a sweaty dude normally but for regular folk this patio is just great in winter. Service here is truly attentive without being intrusive and I can't say enough about the food. I had the Cochina pibil, which came with homemade corn tortillas that I would slap my mama to get to. Incredible culinary trip for the evening. My wife said fish tacos were good as well. The only issue was reservation availability. I went here the other day with my coworkers and it was amazing! Everything we ordered was delicious! We also sat on the patio where the view of the city and sunset was AMAZING! So quick tip, sit on the patio! We got a ton of appetizers: bombas contigo (deep fried potato and bacon croquettes), patatas bravas (potatoes with aioli sauce), ceviche Lima (ahi tuna with chips). The ceviche was definitely the best thing, our table ate it fast! I also loved the potatoes and aioli sauce, so freaking good! For my entree: the fish tacos~ These fish tacos were soooo good! The slaw was perfect with the fish. By the time we got our entrees I had already indulged in the appetizers, but the tacos were so good that I forced myself to eat them. My cocktail: the banera (gin and tonic). I hardly drink, but when I do, I never drink more than a quarter of my glass since I cannot stomach alcohol. This drink though was so good! Because I am who I am, I did have to water it down, but I would definitely get this one again! It was also our waiters favorite on the drink menu. And for dessert: the spicy chocolate mousse! I have a dessert stomach so I ate all of it and loved every bite! The spiciness was not overwhelming and gave the sweetness of the chocolate a perfect balance. Please try this place out! Had another wonderful evening at Contigo. After browsing the menu I couldn't land on one item. Had a taste for some Meat but also some seafood. The manager came. Up as he usually does and asked how our grilled octopus app was. It was fantastic I told him. I decided to ask him if the chef could make a plate for 2 that consisted of seafood and meat? He kindly agreed and said he'll surprise us and bit did he. Lobster tails, lamb chops, sautéed jumbo prawns and calamari. Spot on and we were very grateful. Half Of it was left over the quantity was so big. We will be back again soon. The manager is the biggest asset to this place in my opinion. read more

I'm not gonna lie - we were SO disappointed. This restaurant is within a gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous resort that we loved immensely. However... Service at Contigo was sketchy and weird. We were seated on the patio at 5:00pm. Lovely, looking out at the sunset. We had a waiter first come by at 5:15pm (15 minutes later.) Our drinks were delivered at 5:30pm (15 minutes later.) We ordered our food - two appetizers and a steak at 5:30pm. The table next to us was seated at 5:30pm. At 5:40, they ordered and at 5:45pm their drinks and appetizers arrived. Still waiting, and we ordered the EXACT same thing - calamari. At 6pm, their dinner arrived. Still waiting... and we ordered the EXACT same thing - chimichurri steak. At 6:15, our appetizer arrived, one of them. The blistered shishitos finally came and I couldn't eat them for the heat they scorched in my mouth. At 7pm, yes 7pm (90 minutes later) our waiter came by and told us that our steak was on its way. Seriously?!?! And it was underdone, rubbery, and basically inedible. The fries were cold and soggy. Where oh where was this plate waiting for us?? Oh... he offered us a piece of cake for the wait. I will stay at this resort again, great stay for sure. I'm a big fan of tapas (small plates). They give you a chance to try several different tasty dishes. Contigo had several tapas to choose from; both cold and hot. We weren't super hungry, so we only ordered 3: the Ceviche Lima, the Patatas Bravas, and the Las Favoritas. Both the Ceviche and Favoritas were excellent. I wasn't a fan of the potatoes, only ordered those because my girls wanted them. Finally we had the Flan for dessert. They also only had one beer on tap and out of an ingredient for a dish, so it was slightly concerning that they might be struggling? Came here back on the Sunday before Valentine's Day for a dinner date to celebrate with my girlfriend. The food and sunset from Contigo did not disappoint. You'd be fine just ordering the tapas as they are large and filling but there was so much on the menu I wanted to try. We restrained ourselves to just three and each one was phenomenal and took some leftovers home with us. The paella is super popular, pricy, but worth it. We shared it and still had enough for another couple meals from what we took home with us. Don't skip dessert if the cheesecake is available. Food was good but the noise inside is horrendous. You need ear plugs, it's impossible to carry on a conversation. A table of at least 15 people were seated by the window and they were all so loud and rude that they dominated the main dining room. Even when I politely asked them to tone down the volume, I was told to move to another table and they got louder! I will only eat here when the weather is comfortable to eat outside on the patio.
