    Croquettes

First off, this is at the Westin Paloma, so dress up, if you want to feel comfortable. When we arrived (reservations suggested), I realized we had eaten here four years ago! Very nice patio, two tiers of it and a great view. We went with the tapas menu and really over ordered but the usual rule of thumb with tapas is 2-3 dishes per person. Here I would suggest staying to the minimum. Cocktails--we both had a Pisco Sour, which was fantastic & pretty. $12 & I'm sure somewhere else back home we'd pay $16. Delicious. They bring you warm bread & oil with herbs for a starter. They brought us 3 dishes right away, the plantains, bacon wrapped dates & shared the HUGE empanada, which was already cut in half. I could have been perfectly happy stopping right here. I wish we'd been warned at how big some of the dishes were, much larger than most tapas plates. The plantains were wonderful, so caramelized, then dribbled with something sweet. The dates and empanada were very very good. Our next three dishes were the tuna ceviche, which we could barely touch--took it home. The 'thin sliced beef', was good, but it's more like slices off a steak. Well flavored but so much fat. I think we cut away a third of the dish that was fat. The croquettes with meat--unlike other croquettes I've had which are usually crispy outside but sort of delicate inside These were thick & heavy, with a chunky filling. Not our preference for a croquette. There were three large ones, we took one home. A table nearby had the patatas bravas & it was huge--could easily serve four people. So: dress nicely to feel comfortable. Get a cocktail, sit outside & order lightly! If it's not enough, you can always add a dish.

Amazing, good, cocktails, & service. Great wine list, too. We sat out on the patio, and the whole setting was beautiful. We enjoyed being able to sample a variety of small plates, but just a heads-up that the "small plates" here are quite a bit larger than most tapas places (that I've been to, at least). So we had way more food than we needed, but it was mostly all terrific. The only thing that I'd recommend skipping were the cauliflower croquettes. I love cauliflower, but they were just mushy & bland. The seafood stew was by far my favorite dish, and my daughter & husband both loved the agua chile beef dish. Definitely would come back if I'm ever in Tucson again!

Wow... how has Contigo Latin Kitchen been hiding from me all this time?! Tucked inside the resort grounds, this restaurant is an instant escape -- sweeping views, lush surroundings, and a whole atmosphere that just exudes effortless luxury without ever feeling pretentious. Total Tucson magic. I came for an event and ended up falling in love with the place. The staff was warm and welcoming, the service was seamless, and the vibes? Immaculate. But the real star was the vegan paella -- and listen, I don't think I've ever seen a vegan paella on a menu before. They absolutely nailed it. Flavorful, hearty, beautifully done, and easily one of my favorite plant-based dishes I've had in Tucson. Between the views, the ambiance, the food, and the staff, Contigo just shot straight into my "new favorite places" list. A stunning location, an unforgettable dining experience, and honestly... sad it took me this long to make my way here. Already planning my return.

Had a great time here celebrating my dad's birthday! The food was great and the portions for their tapas were the perfect size! We ordered pretty much every tapas to try amongst the 5 of us. And then ordered the meat platter for 2 and the seafood paella (also meant for 2) to share. Everything was cooked perfectly. Ended the night with churros (my favorite), Spanish crème brûlée and a tres leches. No complaints! And with the weather getting nice, we were able to enjoy their outside seating and views. Would definitely recommend checking them out.

Patatas bravas with two sauces. (A few pieces missing, because it's hard to wait!)

Service was great: very attentive. It was one of those early fall days where outside might have worked, but we had an early dinner, so ate inside, which is pleasant when sitting in the back section. I'll bet it was perfect on their beautiful patio later. Food was great...my only complaint may sound very strange: the portions are too large. We love tapas because you get small plates, so can try lots of different things, and Contigo is the only tapas restaurant that I know of in Tucson these days. Anyway, they start you with delicious bread with chimichurri to dip it in--hard to resist (and you shouldn't). We ordered patatas bravas (a tapas 'must-have') . They're quite tasty, but a massive portion of very large pieces that weren't crispy. We also had the empanada of the day, which was a tasty vegetable one with avocado sauce on the side. Nicely done. Next, the Gambas al Ajillo (super-tasty) and elote (tender white corn: again, delicious). Would love to have tried more, but as it was we packed-up lots of leftovers to take home. Would love tapas-sized options, but thoroughly enjoyed dinner (and will keep enjoying it at home this week!).

After all these years, it was our first time at Contigo, and we've definitely been missing out on this amazing spot! The food was absolutely fantastic. We tried the paella with short ribs and seafood, along with calamari and corn--everything was so flavorful. The calamari was definitely a standout, probably my second favorite in town. The service was impeccable. Every staff member was on top of their game and made sure we had a great experience. We were seated on the patio with a breathtaking view of the sunset, which made the meal even more memorable. We'll absolutely be coming back!

    Bombas Contigo (Hot)

I've dined at Contigo many times over the years, even before it moved to its current spot at La Paloma. We celebrated a birthday there a couple weeks ago and I've landed on this rating for the combination of inconsistent service and meals over the last few meals. Over server was very charming and sweet, but disappeared after taking our order and we didn't see her again until almost the end of the meal. Our group of four adults and a toddler orders the elote and the bombas (fried potato balls stuffed with cheese/bacon and a creamy sauce) to start. The elote was beyond charred it was very dry and basically burned. The bombas were good, but rich. For dinner we ordered a paella, the red snapper, tacos contigo, and chicken tenders for our daughter. My red snapper was so dry I unfortunately didn't really eat much of it. My husband shared the paella with this dad, there there mixed opinions on it. The tacos Contigo were very oily. These tacos were my favorite back in Contigo's early days. The chicken tenders were par with fast food. The french fries were the saddest of all. They were so fried that they were rock hard. At one point we asked for the wine list again and within five minutes of having it a manager came to our table and asked if were done with the menu, and was very eager to take it, hinting that that maybe they ran out? My answer to that is print more! They use paper menus, which by their appearance they reuse. Our menus had food and drink stains when they sat us. The place got super busy and unfortunately that impacted our server and ultimately our experience. I am happy to see them so busy, but they have some room to improve, like perhaps adding more servers or making sure bussers are more proactive about checking in on tables if the server is too busy. The views are really beautiful and the space is very charming, but not our go-to as a regular dinner spot.

    Pulpo Feria (Hot)
    Marcia D.

Located at the Westin, we had a lovely dinner. We were craving good tapas, and they delivered! We ordered almost the whole list of appetizers to share. My favorite were the "Las Favoritas" dates stuffed with Spanish Chorizo, wrapped in smoked pork. As well as the "Pulpo Feria" which was buttery and delicious. Our server, Emily, I believe her name was. She was great! She was there when we needed her, very attentive giving us recommendations that were a hit with us. Nice music, and the outdoor seating areas have great views.

This place is simply amazing. Definitely a classy place to take a date. The service is top notch. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed. The food is outstanding. The prices are a little high, but it's worth every penny. I can see myself returning here for special occasions. The appetizer I had was the Pulpi Feria. An octopus based dish. The flavors were outstanding. For my main course I enjoyed the Moqueca De Peixe. A stew made with vegetables, muscles, shrimp and fish. Cooked in coconut milk. It was very good. The only thing I couldn't find at this place was an unhappy customer!

    Curt F.

The view from the patio was amazing and worth the visit alone. The food was your typical resort style "not amazing or not bad" The service was excellent. Staff was on it! If you go make sure it's a clear night and request to set outside.

    Pork shank

I went here last night with family for my mom's birthday and really enjoy trying all of the items. We were a party of eight and had reservations. We were set in a private room at a long table, which had a lot of natural light and even a TV. We didn't need the TV, but still cold that it was there. We ordered four appetizers: the calamari ($14), the Ahi ceviche ($19), the plantains ($10), and the empanada of the day ($12), which was a steak with mozzarella. My favorite was the empanada, but all were great. The plantains had a crisp to them, which I thought was pretty satisfying. The restaurant also gives free bread with an oil base dip. That was also really good. My aunt ordered a beet salad ($14) as well and though I would have never ordered that myself, it was actually really good and fresh. I would order it Now if I were to visit Contigo again. When it came to our orders, I ordered the pork shank($32). Despite this being very picturesque, this is the thing I like the least of all of the things we ate. I felt the sauce was similar to a maybe tomato barbecue like sauce (I think, I couldn't put my finger on the taste), and for such a great cut of meat and such a presentation, in addition to how tender it was, they really could've hit it home with a better seasoning/sauce mixture. It brought the dish down a lot. Also the pickled veggies with it tasted off. I love me some pickled vegetables! Buuut these, they had a high watery but vinegar-like taste that was missed the mark in pickled flavor for me. I feel this side should be totally swapped out because it's not doing the restaurant Any justice. My husband got the fish tacos($17), which were okay. The coleslaw in them makes them pretty wet. Two people at the table got the Tacos Contigo($16), which had short rib. Those were delicious! I'm actually not sure how the snapper ($32) and grouper ($28) fish dishes were. They had some good dessert options, however, we did not try any except for the tres leches cake due to a birthday. I do wish they would ask which Desert you want for birthdays since many are the same price, and that would not have been the preferred one, but I get it since it's probably given as "birthday cake" & honestly they don't even have to give anything, so appreciate a dessert was given at all! I really like the menu here, and would love to try more of those bomb looking tapas, as well as a couple other things on the menu. I'll definitely be back! Oh I almost forgot. When walking back to the car, I noticed signs all over the parking lot that I hadn't noticed before, for paid parking. I thought this was strange for such a huge lot, and having never seen this outside of downtown.. not even at the other resorts here in Tucson. Anyway I didn't get a ticket, but be forewarned the parking is not supposed to be free I guess?

    Ceviche Lima* (Cold)

We had dinner here on Friday night and tried a variety of appetizers, but unfortunately, I didn't enjoy any of them. The gambas al ajillo (shrimp) were plain with a slight spiciness but lacked flavor. The agua chile de res (steak) was so salty it was inedible. The chicken empanadas were just okay--the chicken was dry and overcooked, and the accompanying sauce was also overly salty. The ceviche Lima (ahi) was the best of the appetizers, but even that was pretty plain. The patatas bravas were very dry, overcooked, and bland, essentially tasting like plain potatoes. The ranch served with them, however, was delicious. For entrées, the pescado a la Veracruzana (grouper) was a standout and very good. As for drinks, the Sedona and Poquito Picante were excellent. The Pisco Sour was far too bitter for my taste, but the Caipirinha was good. While I'd return for the cocktails, especially the Caipirinha and Poquito Picante, I'm not sure I'd come back for the food.

We've eaten a lot of food and had a lot of cocktails over the years and honestly this is one of the greatest meals we had. Though it's small the atmosphere was fun and yet still felt private. However that didn't stop us from pushing our table together with the couple next to us even though we didn't know them....we couldn't ignore each other's oooing and ahhhing about the food and so we decided to join tables and order every single dessert to share! So not only do we have a great meal , but we made new friends! The service was fantastic. We wanted to go back for a special occasion but unfortunately they had to unexpectedly close for the evening. However they let us know about the issue and we're looking forward to going back another time.
