    Papas Rellena

Exploring Tucson has been a lovely adventure for all the time I have lived here and this location at Kolb and Sunrise is no exception. Easy parking, located in a strip mall. Ambiance/Cleanliness-Its a very clean, small restaurant with a quaint vibe and cool placemats/coasters from Peru. 4 stars Service-Excellent. Monica was doing it all there herself for Sonoran Restaurant Week..Greeter Server, Bartender. Personable, attentive and quite on point. I don't think there is any better. 5 stars Food. The roasted corn served with drinks was tasty and surprising. The Restaurant Week menu had a Causa Rellena which is Imported yellow potato cakes, stuffed with choice of chicken or shrimp salad...Chilled, we chose shrimp and it was light and flavorful. We also ordered a Papa Rellena, potato stuffed with minced beef and Peruvian spices which came with salsa Criolla....this was delicious as well. Entree...my friend chose the Beef Saltado...overcooked, underseasoned beef strips so chewy as to be unpleasant served over a bed of pasta with onions and peppers in a soup of beef broth and soy sauce. A straight up fail. I had the Ají De Gallina shredded, overcooked chicken breast, in Aji Amarillo and roasted walnuts, served over sliced boiled potatoes. Served with a beautiful pyramid of jasmine rice. The sauce was dense and coated the mouth in a profusion of black pepper essence. I ate all of it...wouldnt eat it again. The point of Restaurant Week is to showcase the restaurant. In this case is highlighted strengths and weaknesses...too many food fobbles.. Not sure i would go back. 3 stars

Atmosphere was cool and festive. Monica the bar tender/waitress was fantastic. Such a joy to be around and extremely hospitable. She was AMAZING. Papas rellanas was ordered to supplement the Sonoran restaurant week menu which me and a friend ordered. It was GREAT!!!! Perfectly seasoned soft inside and crispy outside potatoe ball/cake with the most deliciously seasoned filling of meat and beans. Just wow. The starter for the Sonoran restaurant week menu was causa rellena shrimp or chicken. We chose shrimp! It was great. It was cold which I wasn't expecting but it had a great fresh flavor and was so so yummy. Everything else was terrible. Aji de gallina The chicken was underseasoned, rice overcooked, mushy and had no salt. What a disappointment. All you could taste was black pepper and maybe one other flavor but I'm not sure bc the color had me wishing I was tasting something else. It looked good but just was not up to par for the first two apps we had. The second dish from the Sonoran restaurant week menu was tallarin saltado beef. This was even less seasoned. The meat was SEVERELY OVER COOKED AND CHEWY!!! I could not believe my taste buds. It was literally hard spaghetti noodles with a soy based sauce that was didn't stick to the noodles at all. I was shocked. Apps were great. But main dishes were a fail so likely would not be back!

I love stopping by here for some unique blends of flavors on the east side of Tucson. This was my third time here (8/9) and the servers are always friendly and fast. This is a small spot especially during the summer when it's not ideal to sit on their patio. I believe they take reservations but for two people on a saturday we got a table right away. My husband and I shared two appetizers the tiraditos clasicos and Papa a la Huancaina. We also shared a main: Seco de Carne. We weren't super hunger and tend to not eat large meals anyways so this was a good amount for us. The food came out quickly and was delicious.

Had a great girls night at Inca's! They are a small Peruvian restaurant with both indoor and patio seating. The waitress was so kind and gave us some great suggestions. We had SHRIMP CAUSA RELLENA, TALLARIN SALTADO BEEF, and AJI DE GALLINA as part of Sonoran Restaurant Week. We'll be back for sure. Everything was so tasty! The shrimp causa rellena was my favorite.

We had a great meal there yesterday. Service was excellent and friendly and the food was great. It's a small place but you still feel comfortable and the decor suits the food. I had the Lomo Saltado and it was excellent. Honestly, I could have just had the rice with the sauce and would have been happy. My wife had the Aj de Gallina and like mine it was excellent. The drinks and deserts were also superb. I would recommend this place and even though it's a 45 minute drive, I'll be back!

Inca's provides comfortable seating indoors and out with vibrant table decorations and an offering of crisped corn kernels while we perused the menu. Service was attentive and available but not overwhelming. We ordered a yucca fries alongside the causa rellena with vegetables. Fries came with an assortment of tasty sauces. Causa rellena made a great meal with a mix of green beans and carrots between layers of flavorful polenta. The sauce was delicious and pulled it all together. Highly recommend the Chicha morada, a tasty beverage- like Jamaica- but even better with cinnamon and lime!

I really enjoyed the food at the restaurant however I felt that sometimes it would be overpriced. The service was fantastic and the wine was OK. Not the best wine I've ever had. I believe it's a good place to call me if you want a relaxing low-key atmosphere.

Great food , ambiance and friendly staff. Went there for a (private event) networking event during breakfast (usually not open for breakfast), it was great. Normally they Do not open for breakfast however for our group, they did. Looking forward to coming back and trying out their delicious food. Tell Fatima, the owner, Veronica sent you

Delightful Peruvian restaurant with live music on Friday night. Service starts with two bowls of canchats, tasty corn kernel like snacks. Lighter and fluffier than a corn nut but a similar taste. All things Pisco are available. If you haven't tried before than have a pisco sour, very good. Many great dishes to try. I had the Carapulra, which was excellent! Husband had the cilantro rice, which is tasty. Service was super friendly and happy to answer any questions. Clearly a favorite for many locals.

Our server, Manny, was exceptional. Probably the best server I've had in Tucson. Again, Manny was exceptional not just good. The restaurant is showing signs of tiredness and although this is part of their charm, some updating might want to be in the near future- especially in the restrooms. I've been to Piazza Gavi several times in the past and in all honesty, the food is really missing the mark. Given the prices they charge, there is definitely a need for improvement. I ordered the smoked salmon carpaccio (which was okay) and the seafood cioppino. Portions were both generous. The cioppino really missed the mark. It was as if I was eating a crawfish boil. That's what the broth tasted like. Overly salty and lacked depth of flavor, especially sweetness from fennel and tomatoes. Tasted more like Cajun seasoning. I liked that they were generous on the bread and didn't charge an auto gratuity for large parties. The rest of the party seamed to enjoy their food for the most part. I'm sure their reviews would be quite different.

I may have never tasted anything more delicious. I took home more than enough for a fabulous lunch. The hub wasn't as thrilled. He's not that much of a seafood guy, enjoying ribs or steak previously, but he decided on the fish and chips for this outing. He's used to cod for battered fish and noted that hoki didn't hold together well, breaking into small pieces, some with breading and some without. The fish and the coating were under seasoned and bland. He wasn't happy with the fries, either. He expected regular fries as our server specified, but received shoestrings, some of which were overly crisp but the ones under the fish were soggy. He did praise the cole slaw. Although neither of us could finish our meal, we did order dessert. We shared the pecan caramel cheesecake and it was ridiculously delicious: smooth, tangy, and not too sweet. Just perfect. We managed to finish it and mentioned to the manager/owner? how good it was. He laughed and said no judging if we licked the plate. The ambiance of the dining room is elegance, almost vintage, and feels special. The restaurant was very busy, which I am thrilled to see, but quite noisy. The first thing I need to own is that it's a shame I hadn't visited here before. We arrived at 5:30p and both the bar and patio areas were packed - standing room only, and no wonder. They have one of the better happy hours (daily! 3:00 - 6:30p) - able to accommodate both the slacker and the over-timer Lol. Basic drinks are all discounted such as house wines, well drinks, and beers. Their bottled wines and craft cocktails are all exempt though. Many of their appetizers are also discounted and some quite substantially. We grabbed a glass of the house cabernet ($6, normally $8) and the grilled shrimp wrapped in jalapeno bacon ($13, normally $20). NOTE: happy hour pricing is Only available if you order/consume at the bar or on the patio at that's clear in advance and understandable. The dining areas were only half full at this early point (but filled up by 6:30) and the host kindly encouraged us to enjoy our starters at the bar as she would hold our table. We were then sat near the "back" of this long venue and frankly, aside from the lone windowed table at the very front, this would be my preferred seating - cozy, intimate, with only five other tables around us. For dinner drinks she got an Italian Nebbiolo Bricco Magno Red Blend ($13/glass, reliably terrific/mellow) and I got the Chupacabra ($15) Mezcal/prickly pear cocktail, strong and excellent as well. We got an additional appetizer: the roasted bone marrow ($19). I had never had before but she raved about how good this can be if done properly (bonus, it is super healthy). Folks, a picture/worth a 1000... suffice to say this was simply outstanding! We both had long work weeks and were craving meat - just a damn good steak. Our waiter, without blinking recommended the 8oz bison filet mignon ($65) as his absolute menu fav, and the day's special: 14oz ribeye ($50). We ordered each. All dinners come with two sides and we each got the day's special: roasted half artichoke and she got the loaded baked potato while I got the mashed potatoes. Food arrived in about 15 minutes later at good temperature (warm/rested with a strong char) with each being accurately grilled (medium and medium-rare). Taste was outstanding. Neither one of us had bison filet before and marveled how it (subtly) added a "wild" edge to an always outstanding, lean-but-tender, cut of beef. The loaded baked was terrific, however, the mashed was the only disappointment... a plainer mash one could not make themselves - pure white and borderline dry, no milk, butter, egg, gravy(?), nothing to make it creamy or add any flavor dimension - a surprise frankly. The only other "critique" is that the dessert menu could add some kind of dark/chocolate concoction. All in all, though, we loved our experience and have decided to add this to our periodic special dinners rotation! Staff was outstanding - just the proper balance of attentive and quiet - and waters never went below half empty. Parking is free and plentiful, especially behind the restaurant (and yes, if you continue on around the back there is another long entrance/exit driveway that comes out the other side of Jimmy John's and Noodleholics.

Where they seemed to sit everyone coming into the restaurant. If the restaurant was packed I would understand but every other room was empty. Who wants to sit along the pathway to the bathroom? Service was so/so. Had to ask for drinks multiple times. But frankly the quality of the food was not worth the cost. Definitely will not be returning, until they revamp the menu to include less French style and more uniquely inspired fresh food. I mean if we wanted French we would have gone to Le Rendezvous or Wild Garlic which are top notch.

Sirloin steak was cube of course again to share w 4 at table . We let one person eat the cube which was enough for one 6 piece. Chicken was 3 again we had to cut everything up to share. 21/2 hrs later we still haven't finished eating they take approx 15-20 minutes to bring u the next set of meats . U can have any side u want that's on the menu, but it's a tablespoon in each plate , smaller than tapas?? We sit n wait because the grill smokes a lot from the dripping. Then they lower it down n u sit til your server come around again to put it up to cook the meat . I just don't know how this function at all? U get charge for supreme cuts at 43:99 n if u get tired of waiting for your 2,3,4 th portions they still charge u full fee. If u leave anything on table they charge u $5 per plate of food u leave?? It's a nice place w green vines all over the restaurant. Pretty busy with a lot of conversation. I'll come back if someone pays the bill but not me
