My friend just had to try this restaurant because Mark Carney went there, and it was all over the internet. So off we go to get some dim sum on a weekend. First off, the place was huge! It can probably seat around 200. There was a giant LED wall on one side, so the place has probably hosted a lot of events. We weren't sure how to order at first, until these ladies came to our table, each pushing their own carts with different plates of dim sum. However, a lot of times, we didn't know what they were offering us, as most of them don't speak English that well. The food was pretty decent, and there were a lot of options, but nothing exceptional. I particularly liked the siu mai and the fried rice we ordered (I forgot which one it was). read more

Very good dim sum near the airport in Vancouver. Went with friends from the area who had been before. The sui mai were plump and large, with great flavor. The har gow were also delicious and juicy. We ordered a variety of other items and a noodle dish. We devoured everything. Service was prompt and professional, and occasionally friendly! Tea was replenished often. Lunar New Year and the year of the Fire Horse calls for an update to this dim sum restaurant as it is not only known as the restaurant with traditional dim sum cart trolleys. Continental is also now famously known as the restaurant that Prime Minister Mark Carney visited in lunar new year of 2026 to hand out red envelopes to the diners. Carney's visit may have further boosted their business as there was a lineup before 10am on the following Sunday and the line up/wait for a table started way before noon. Service was efficient and has been consistently good over the recent past years. Food-wise, the dim sum items here are authentic and it's a decent dim sum spot in the Richmond Cambie area. Being in North America, our city of Vancouver is very privileged to be able to enjoy some of the finest Chinese cuisine. With numerous dim sum options in Richmond, it sometimes just comes down to personal preference on where one goes for dim sum. IMO, Continental does a great job in their niche of offering a fun dim sum trolley experience paired with excellent service and I appreciate that this place offers solid dim sum dishes with no frills. Ambiance - This location is located in a strip mall. Very unassuming from the outside, but when you walk in it's like you've entered a GIANT high energy restaurant that you would never expect. Very nice and traditional Chinese style with a bar as soon as you walk in so there are drinks! Service - This is why we chose this place. They are the first dim sum restaurant I've found since 2020 that still does dim sum carts! This has always been a missed part of the dim sum experience. Having a cart come around and loading up on all the options you want before they move on, having them try to drop plates on your table lol I missed that. Overall service was actually good as well, if we needed something they were on it right away, the only time we felt the wait was long was when waiting for the check and wanting to pay. Food - Great dimsum. Idk if it tastes better cause it comes off the cart but we enjoyed everything. Their "footballs" were probably some of the best I've had. Egg tarts were a little soggy but still good. Only issue with the food were the sauces. This was the first dim sum restaurant I've been to without soy sauce, vinegar and chili oil on the table, we had to ask for it and it was all very small portions and they didn't have traditional chili oil with the chilis and everything. It was a strained chili oil. We had to ask for a side of the sweet mayo with our fried shrimp balls. Ask for sauce for shrimp rolls. The sauce they served with the Chinese broccoli was bitter when it's always had a savory sweetness at other locations. Literally all the sauces had some issue but other than that, food was solid. We went here on a Sunday lunch around 12:30pm. This is a gigantic restaurant with a large parking lot but the demand is also very high, so expect to find a lot of difficulty in parking and expect wait times. We waited about 10 minutes for the table. This dim sum spot stands out as one of the few restaurants left that offer push cart style dim sum, as a lot of restaurants now do paper ordering system. We got the usuals like har gow, siu mai, etc. I love the har gow here as there is generous portions of fresh shrimp, and the siu mai is 2nd best I've had in the Richmond / Vancouver area. The chicken feet is larger than the typical, and well spiced. The egg tart was flaky and buttery. The shrimp egg rolls were almost entirely shrimp - love it. The sticky rice is pretty good - generous amounts of pork inside. The beef noodle rolls have the al dente texture but still steamed and soft. The dim sum here is definitely above average. Dim sum prices are on the higher end here, as we somehow ended up spending 50 CAD a person or more, in comparison to other dim sum spots where that number is 30% less for similar amounts of food. The quality is comparable but I'd go to the other ones for value if I don't care for push cart experience. read more

Came here for Sunday brunch after being recommended by multiple people and it did not disappoint. The initial flow of dimsum carts were good but it dropped considerably afterwards. My partner has been on the lookout for some of her favorite items like chicken feet and they went everywhere but our area. Been a while since having dim sum and recently went for a father's day gathering. Even with a reservation at 9:30am, didn't get a table until 10am which is common for busy restaurants. Dim sum is still rolled around on carts and sometime need to chase after one with your paper to grab a dish before it runs out. Had all the standard and staples like har gow, sui mai, buns and cheung fun. The parking lot is large, but only spots along the edge are for longer parking. We came on our most recent trip to BC and we reserved ahead of time at 1 PM which was the right call since there was still very much a wait even later during lunch. I liked the ambience and the space as well as the presence of dim sum carts which are all so rare now. The best items here are definitely the chicken feet and honeycomb tripe. We have old people in our group and it's just a zoo here. If u can't honor reservations, don't take reservations. It's not ok. Food wise, the 炸两 was soggy, the beef ball, hargow and siumai were good as always, chasiu rice is good and delicious and beef organs r very good. Tofu dessert was good but gingery. We sat near the big stage, few carts never came to us, we had to beg to get a menu, struggle to get water refilled, and had to order dimsum from the menu and continue asking and asking for those. It seems rare to find restaurants with dim sum carts in Vancouver, and Continental still serves its dim sum on trolleys to keep their food fresh and hot. We were very satisfied with their savory and sweet dim sum. Highly recommend Pork Shrimp Parsley Dumpling--generous amount of jumbo shrimps and minced pork wrapped in siu mai wrapper. The Deep Fried Taro Pastry was stuffed with mashed taro and pork in a thin crispy breaded crust. For dessert, we got egg tarts and black sesame pudding. We were glad this restaurant opened early so we could get some food right after landing in Vancouver. This was one of the handful of dim sum places that actually still rolled carts around the restaurant. Most disappeared after the pandemic. Of course the pluses of the carts were getting to see all offerings and making on the spot decisions. The negative was just the waiting for the cart that had what we were craving. We chose our standard dim sums and while the hunger was addressed we just didn't fully feel satisfied. The taste and use of slightly thicker wrappers resulted in just an average enjoyment for our lunch. Tops for us were: Chives dumplings were completely filled with shrimp and chives and nicely crisp pan fried. Probably the best ratio of filling to date. Siu mai was juicy and best tasting of all. The rest were a little disappointing: The fried taro was cold. The haw gau, bean curd and shrimp rolls were a little bland in flavors. This is our go to cart Dimsum spot whenever we're in town. It is in a plaza with a few other stores and despite having a large parking lot, the lot gets full pretty easily so make sure to plan ahead as well as make a reservation if you have a bigger party. They're almost always busy on the weekends I've gone here and with that, the carts are actively always coming by asking if you want the food items they have on their carts. A lot of the food is very delicious and has that comforting flavor you expect as if it's homemade. There are some items that I would say could use a bit more flavor but nothing from here has ever disappointed me enough to write about it. Definitely would be my go to spot more frequently if I actually lived closer to here. read more

Old school dim sum establishment with carts in the heart of Richmond. It is located in a strip mall so plenty of free parking, which is always a plus. The room is large with high ceilings and plenty of natural light with the large windows across one side of the establishment. We came just after 11 am on a weekday and there was no line up. We ordered several dishes...and most were quite good. I was not a fan of the schezwan green beans or the salt and pepper squid. I found the beans were a little undercooked and soggy (not crispy) and the squid was overly breaded. I did enjoy seeing the carts coming around and the service was pretty good. Their durian mochi is not as good as Kirin's but their warm ginger syrup tofu is my favorite. They much so variety its great to come with a big party so you can try different items. Continental Seafood Restaurant in Richmond is the second restaurant we've been to now where you can get dim sum from one of those carts. This one was much better than the one we went to last year. The service is not great and food is not worth the price. We went there on 12/21/25 for Chinese celebration and right before the holidays. There was a lot of people, lively place, and everyone enjoying their meals. Unfortunately, we were stuck with an assistant manager who was in a foul mood, didn't know what type of red wine the restaurant had, all serious and he didn't smile...so that was too bad. We ordered a special soup and a 2 pound lobster, with other goodies. He didn't show us the live lobster before cooking which made us question the freshness. Then when we paid for the $600 bill and tipped (15%) he did not even say "Thank you". One of the worst take out places I've ever experienced. They will prey on the fact you're not Chinese-literate. The sign said 15$/lb for roasted pork but they charged me 60$ for 2lbs. This is on top of the worst pieces I've ever seen. Cheap cuts with 80% fat that no one would even feed their dogs out of fear of them getting heart disease. Whether it's racism or them being the cheapest disgraces to humanity, I recommend against ordering food from here. Take your business elsewhere and save yourself from obesity. read more

We western Washingtonians were spending three nights in Richmond for Dim Sum, gardens, and the night market. Arrived here around 11 a.m. on a Sunday for Dim Sum. Spent the first 10 minutes scouting the parking lot in the strip mall for an open space; finally found one back behind the restaurant just a short walk away. If you're hoping to eat here on the weekend, try to make a reservation or COME EARLY! We stood, along with tons of other folks, packed in the entryway like sardines in a tin. Waited about a half hour before finally being seated at a little table for two. This is the only remaining Dim Sum restaurant with push cart service in Richmond that I'm aware of. That's what my wife and I enjoy most about Dim Sum...except for the food. This place is a huge dining hall that also has dancing to live music at night (or so says what I've read). There were plenty of choices of all kinds of food on the numerous carts that made their way through the restaurant. We had about five selections and then had to say "Enough"! fried rice, humbows, shumai, crab balls, and tofu skin wraps. So many choices, with a few just too exotic or unappealing for us. First visit with a friend who is a seasoned Dim Sum connoisseur (he lived in China for 20 years). We arrived late on a Sunday afternoon, still busy with families dining, but too late for cart service, we ordered off of their extensive menu. Service was very prompt, and per our tradition we ordered way too much food. I gotta say, everything was really good. Very lively atmosphere, large space, clearly they do a lot of business there. If you don't read or speak Chinese, fear not: the menu has photographs of the dishes and English language titles of the dishes. Dim Sum in Richmond is an absolute MUST whenever we head up to Vancouver, and Continental was a great choice! We were looking in particular for a place that still does cart style, and Continental came recommended. We did not have reservations on a Saturday around ~10:30-45 AM, but were able to get seated at a table for 2 right away. We were, however, seated in possibly the worst location (literally the very last table at the corner by the projector screen, on the way to the men's bathroom), but this didn't turn out to be an issue at all. We were concerned the carts would skip over us, but the cart ladies were diligent about their coverage, and other staff came by frequently to refill tea/water, condiments, etc. They have a cart dedicated JUST to radish/turnip cakes and pan-fried shrimp/chive dumplings, so you know those are a must get. Both were delicious, and I have to say the radish/turnip cakes were the most flavorful here that I've ever had. Carts came by often, selection was vast, and we'd be happy to come back here! read more
