So I completely understand the aggravation when people come to the drive thru and are joking and messing around while they order. Well tonight me and my friend came to cookout and we had two separate orders... we placed the first order and we were waiting for the total. My friend began talking to me and we started laughing. The lady responded and said "can you order correctly ma'am" and I was stunned. Cause I ordered correctly the first time, but I ordered the same thing again and the lady then cut me off while ordering and told me what I had asked for the first time. I was very confused cause I did nothing wrong! Then I come home and my chicken on my sandwich was half the size of the bun and completely burnt! Opened the bag only to see the regular fries that I ordered had cajun and the cajun chicken sandwich I ordered was gray. One of my all time favorite places to go, especially late at night. This place has the best milkshakes. Ever. The selection of milkshakes is so huge, that they have something for everybody. I don't think I've ever had actual food here, except for the occasional side order of fries, but I always see signs saying that they were voted best burger around. The restaurant doesn't have a dining area; it's drive-thru only. I almost always missed the entrance because it's separate. There are two drive-thru lines to help it move faster, but expect a bit of a wait anyway. read more

Lowkey, I don't think I've ever been to such an excellent cookout, and I've been to quite a few. Normally, when I review fast food restaurants I'm kinda just jokingly complaining, but I'm here today to let the people know, that this is the best cookout in North Carolina. I got my tray and unwrapped my quesadillas. Warmth. Cheese was incredibly melty. The bacon in the bacon wrap was perfectly cooked. I did order the egg nog milkshake. Basically just a vanilla milkshake but. The hooked me up fat with the sauce. Ranch monster on the Cajun fries. Deletion. Very good experience. read more

Awwww my first ever Cook Out experience! Not knowing what I was doing I was just like I'll follow the lead of the others with me and go with this tray. I got a spicy chicken sandwich, fries, and hush puppies. It took for-fucking-ever to order at the drive through though because their speakers are horrible and I don't think the people working there are very good at communicating around it. So it took so much time. So yeah, it's fast food. The hushpuppies were pretty good, the fries weren't that great. The spicy chicken sandwich reminded me a lot of whatever the really cheap Wendy's chicken sandwich is. Not like it's a bad thing, just it wasn't OMG!1111 like I've been lead to believe about the food. But holy shit it's cheap. Except...there is nothing bad to say about CHEERWINE FLOATS. I was addicted upon first sip. This is a tiny one with nowhere to even eat outside. We ended up going across the street to the mall and eating in the car. OK am I really writing a review on a fast food place? Well hell... I never order milkshakes but when in Rome right? I ordered the blueberry cheesecake milkshake cause my b.f. loves blueberry... OMG was it good... I had to use a spoon to eat it... and probably shouldn't have finished it before my actual meal came... which was only $5.25 which included the shake...! I got a grilled bbq chicken sandwich and two sides which I made double onion rings. The chicken was as tender as could be and REAL meat! The onion rings were fresh and seemed homemade but I prefer batter fried over breaded.... overall can't beat the meal for the price. I gotta check out some other fast food places in these here parts! read more

Absolutely recommend... the food is great here I had my order incorrect once but that's not a big deal food is food for the most part when dealing with fast food . Local fast food. This is not a gourmet place, and if you are going to Cook Out for the quality of their burgers go someplace else. The milkshakes on the other hand are fantastic and come in a huge variety of flavors. What a phenomenal find. Thank you fellow yelpers! As first timers the lady in the drive they was super patient and helpful with suggestions. The chicken burger was awesome! The fries were amazing... No one wanted to share with anyone else. The shake, good lord the shake! I ordered a cherry cheesecake shake. It tasted like they took a ice of cherry cheesecake and blended it with ice cream to a shake consistency. It was perfection! I would consider moving south of only to utilize this place. So, even with the crummy service and lack of customer service skills, I have made multiple returns to this establishment in hopes of things improving. Sadly, they have only accomplished to go from bad to worse! Tonight I went through the drive-thru and ordered 2 big double burger with cheese trays "cook-out style without onions", for the sides on one of the trays I ordered onion rings and a corn dog, on the other tray I ordered double corn dogs. I also asked for two orders of chicken nuggets. I was asked THREE TIMES to repeat my order!!! Finally, after doing everything except spelling out the my order, the girl repeats my order back to me. I even went ahead and requested some mustard for my corn dogs while at the speaker, since they ALWAYS give me attitude at the window when I ask for it as if I have totally just put them out! I made it through the line quickly and once I get to the window, I'm given my drinks, then the window slams shut and I'm left waiting for 6 minutes without a word from anyone inside. When the girl finally comes back, she opens the window without speaking ONE word, passes me the two trays and a bag and looks at me with a blank stare as if to suggest "that's it, now get out of the drive-thru". I asked her if she put the mustard I asked for in the bag and she looks at me like I just asked her to recite the United States Constitution backwards. She then hands me some mustard and slams the window shut! NO apology for making me wait for 6 minutes while the other side of the drive-thru had already served 5 other cars while I've sat there waiting for who knows what. I get home and unwrap my burgers and NOT one single, solitary slice of cheese on either of my 2 double burgers WITH cheese, which is what I ordered AND what she repeated back to me! Also, not even given a single napkin with this entire order. I will NEVER go back. I was so hoping they would get better, but if you compare my previous review with this updated one, you will see they are consistently incompetent and simply do NOT care how they treat their customers. This is a fast food chain that I wish was close by! Whenever I'm in NC, I always go. I love their hush puppies and shakes!! The hush puppies are cheap for a dozen, and so flavorful and crunchy! The shakes are thick and delicious, and you can get so many mix ins. Yum! One thing that sucked about it was that I have ordered a grilled cheese from Cook Out in the past, but this one wouldn't do it. It isn't on the menu but is possible with cheese and a bun! This is not a taco place or a chicken place. This is where you get the best hamburger in the area (outside a restaurant). The burgers are HUGE, hot, and very tasty. The fries are HUGE, hot, and better than any drive through. There are a hundred shake flavors. For drive through food - this beats Mickey D's; Burger King, and Sonic with one hand tied behind its back. I always get the standard - lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles burger with cheese. Great fast food place. A lot of menu items, and all at reasonable prices. I orded the pulled pork barbecue sandwich, spicy chicken sandwich, and banana pudding milkshake. All of these items were very good. Was a little disappointed that this was only a drive thru, and didn't have any seating. It should be noted that there is a chicken restaurant across the street with outdoor seating that I was able to make use of. read more

When you order, you have a 1 in 100 chance of them actually getting the order right. I have also gotten into arguments with them trying to tell them the flavor of the milkshake I want and they don't know what I am talking about, even though I am reading it straight from the menu. Overall, pretty bad for a cookout. They also charge a lot more for the hamburgers and trays than the one in Sanford. read more

This is the only place I know of where one of the sizes of the burgers is Huge. I'm always looking for a great burger and Cook Out does a pretty good job. They have a great menu of selections and from what I hear they have great BBQ, although I haven't had that....yet. Their milkshakes are great - I really like the orange push-up shake. I'm not a fan of franchise fast food. This is different. They have the best fast food BBQ anywhere! The Menu is varied and vast, the sandwiches are off the hook, the fries are perfect. I never thought I would get BBQ like this from a fast food restaurant, I can't say enough about it. Burgers are fantastic, my only downside is the chili, I can't eat it, so I get everything else on the menu without the chili. The food, pricing, and open hours are amazing at this location. The employees generally do not listen to your order, so it is really hit or miss. The place is amazing.. but beware that you need to check your bag before you pull off. I would have given 0 stars but since i HAVE to put one then here we go. It took forever to get my order in. I wasnt even finished ordering, and she hung up the mic on me, and never asked if i had completed my order. I get up to the window, she tells me the total, and I ask her for the shake i Never got to order. It takes like 5 minutes for her to get the money, then she gets the shake wrong after i told her 3 times the correct order. She mixed up "Oreo" and "Peanut butter fudge" The Lady may have been new,but the stupid manager in the back was just sitting there eating and doing nothing. to help her. the line was very backed up and she was basically doing everything herself.
