Today I went to my local Lexington Cookout to get a BLT for my mother and I before I had to be at work. I ended up waiting for 30 mins, I asked once at 15 mins into the wait "it's gonna be a bit longer" was the reply. Finally 30 mins into my wait and I ask the girl again how much longer same generic response. I wanted a refund as I was leaving for a different food choice,whom I perceive as the manager came and gave me my money but she was exceptinally rude when I told her what my issue was;which was "You just dont wait for 30 minutes for 2 BLTs.." Exceptional dining experience. We got the cheddar rounds and the chicken tenders, some great choices. The service was great, felt welcome like you would at a 5 star restaurant with French food, they made sure we got all the right sauces, but they did forget napkins. The place was empty at lunch. Soon found out why after waiting 40 minutes to order and get the food. It was colder than a walk in freezer. People were eating out on the sidewalk to keep warm. Being locals, we have visited here on four occasions. Twice with friends, twice without. We disagree wholeheartedly with the first (and only thus far) reviewer. This is slop food at best. Yes, at best! The staff at the register is not only uninterested in you as a customer, but rushes you through. Though cheap food, one would expect there would be SOMETHING on the menu that would be tasty and palatable. The last and only time we visited Lexington's new Cookout, one of us ordered a flour tortilla of some kind. (BTW...the gal at the register didn't know the difference between a flour tortilla and a corn tortilla). The tortilla was nothing more than a folded tortilla in half with a teaspoon of some concoction that was labeled as "chicken". THAT'S IT! When we pressed the Coke tab at the self-service soda station, half was water, half was Coke. The best of all is the ladies' room is located barely off the dining room and tables, and there is NO privacy wall, either inside the ladies' room, or out. What I'm saying is - is that you can see people sitting on the commode who have forgotten to latch their stall door - some do...particularly children and the elderly - while you're dining at your table. I have eaten here on two occasions once with my wife and close friends and another with a close friend. The first time there was fantastic. The food was great tasting, one of the better tasting hamburgers not really a top five but definitely a top ten. My only complaint is that the burgers are too small. The available sides are also really great and overall the meals are filling and with the cost. With the second visit I went with a friend who has been there many times. He helped me move so I treated him to food so we went here and it was a bit of a disappointment, we went through the drive through and it appeared that they were training new associates the food was sub par and service was a bit slow, but I don't think that should be held against them as both he and I agreed that service was generally great. Overall this is another great place to eat. My only other qualm is that the menu presentation is a bit confusing at first. read more

Asked for a cheddar style burger and drove home to realize I got a cookout style burger. The last time I went I asked for a cookout style hotdog without slaw and they took both the slaw and chili off. I will make sure to check my food before I leave from now on. Every where I go to get a burger I get a bacon cheeseburger. I love cook out. So, when we came here I was happy that we were going to eat here. After we ordered we waited 30 minutes for the food all of it was cold. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger but the cashier didn't hear it. So I went up to just ask for cheese. They put the cheese on but, she didn't give it to me until I gave her the receipt. The receipt had bacon only. The woman took the burger and receipt and took them to her manager. She came back and said she wouldn't give me the burger until I paid $.45 for a slice of cheese that is probably not real. Plus, the bathrooms are filthy and the faucets in the sink don't work. We visited the Cook-Out in Lexington on 3/14/2015 at 2:21 P.M. Order 3072. The cashier was very rude and sloppy by slamming milkshakes down on counter causing lids to come off and also a meal with the lid popping up. Didn't know if toppings such as tomato or anything else was extra. Told me they didn't have any mustard cause they were out. Very loud at times on the intercom. Taking orders from customers while lying on the counter on her arm hand to elbow. Drink dispenser nearest cashier was leaking water around the Diet Coke dispenser. (half water, half drink) I put a napkin over the dispenser so you would have to use the other one which did work. My hamburger did taste pretty well. I arrived Monday, 5:05 pm with my daughter and was greeted by a polite young man, who smiled, greeted us, asked "What can I get for you," took our order, and prompted us for a specific drink. We paid the young man and went and set down. Business this time of day on Monday's is typically slow and with only about 8 people in the restaurant we had plenty of seating options. We ordered chicken strips, hush puppies, and a sprite. Sometimes I have a burger, but really this is taking my daughter out before activities. Less than five minutes later the young man brings us our food -- that is not typical but, since it is so slow, extra service is provided and welcomed. Fast forward to the next Monday -- we typically make this a routine. We arrive at 5:09. The cashier, a younger woman, simply stares at us, did not smile or speak and did not greet us or ask if she could get us anything. She took our order -- the usual chicken strips and hush puppies. The ticket time said 5:11 pm. The business was typically slow with approximately 8 others in the restaurant and at least 6 workers that I saw at various times. Only one customer arrived to order between the time of our order and when we received our food. Our number was called to get our food at 5:24 -- 13 minutes later. Remember, this was chicken strips and hush puppies. Perhaps it take 6 minutes cooked to order but 13?!!. I could not see the drive through traffic but it doesn't really matter. This was totally unacceptable. What is worse is that it is not the first time. We typically get wonderful, speedy, and friendly service. But there are times when the story I relate happens as well. The food is average as far as fast food goes, the decor typical for Cook Out, and the cleanliness outstanding. But with other fast food restaurants near by, this poor service creates a long pause. Which type of service can I expect today: smiles, helpful and speedy or blank stares and PAINFULLY slow. read more
