He commented that it was better than a blizzard. My husband is not a fan of French fries. He likes that you can pick from sides such a chicken nuggets and quesadillas. I like the chargrilled taste of the burger. It is convenient to wash your hands at the hand washing station. If you are a Cheerwine fan, then good news, they have it. They have great "flaky" ice. Every month on my college kids bank card I see "The Cookout" EVERYWHERE. He swears by it so we stopped here on our way back home. They have this this tray combo for $4.99 where you can upgrade your drink to a shake for $1.00. I tried to fight the urge to break diet so I thought but less than a minute after I paid asked if I could pay to upgrade to a shake and the cashier (who had on these awful windshield wiper lashes that were so unprofessional) said "Oh it's too late"... I'm confused so I asked, "It's too late to upgrade from a fountain drink that I pour myself to a shake?".. surely we're just not on the same page. "yes" stated confidently. I laughed "So it's too late to give you a dollar and get a shake in return" it seems like that's when the lightbulb went off for her. This wasn't calculus, just $1. We waited for our food and of course no milkshake. It took over 10 minutes to finally get a shake. Lashes never told them & cared less, one employee was listening to his music loud on the floor and it wasn't the family friendly version. The manager ended up making my shake when he saw we were still waiting and he gave me two shakes for my troubles. The food was fine. The fried okra was pretty good, the burger was decent, very tender it just had old lettuce on it. We like to try restaurants we don't have at home when we travel. We saw a sign for Cook Out and decided to give it a try. I had a hot dog and onion rings. My husband had the 2 hot dog tray, which had 2 hot dogs, onion rings and a cheese quesadilla. All the food was good and the price was even better at $9.61 with 2 large drinks. read more

This establishment of Cook Out has some of the nicest customer service I have ever received. With a warm welcome and a sincere goodbye. The wrap simply made the meal great with its simplicity and juicy flavors. But the sandwich on the other hand was average because of the chicken itself. The chicken is very rubbery and the taste is very bland if you don't get any sauce with it. But $5 for this whole meal is the best you can possibly get and the quality is quite good! read more

I heard about Cookout over 10 years ago from a college friend who was from South Carolina. We were in town visiting family and the brother in law informed us Cookout was here. My husband had been before in Virginia, but I haven't. The burger was good and tasted like it came off the grill, but I was wanting more. The burger was so small and it was a double. I was recommended to go here so I went, I've been in Macon, GA for three days now and most food places here stink. I went through the drive-thru where an employee was very rude to me after I asked for a couple minutes to order (I had my wife and two very young children) After I ordered my food I went straight to the drive-thru and somehow forgot what I ordered less than a minute from ordering. Overall, the employees were horrible but the food was good and the hot fudge milkshake I ordered was great. I like to try the new restaurants in town. I've been here only once but was very impressed with the food and how quickly they had it ready. I ordered the cheddar burger, fries and a vanilla shake. The burger had stewed onions on it and was thick and cooked nicely. The fries were good and the shake was more like a soft serve ice cream that I had to scoop with my straw. Stopped for a quick bite to eat as we were driving through GA. We only went through the drive thru window so I cannot comment on the inside. The menu was of good variety, prices were reasonable and we were excited to order. However the food was subpar at best. Everything fried that was ordered was over cooked and too hard to eat. The hamburgers did not sit well after we ate them. Overall, I thought they offered a great variety with some Cajun flare. But the quality we received on this particular day was not good. In a league of it's own! Everything on the menu is really, really good. Most places that have a lot of variety on the menu have dud space-fillers on there - not Cookout! Burgers have unique backyard grill flavor that isn't duplicated anywhere else. Their shakes are the best I've ever had - homeade, real ingredients, no artificial flavoring, and tons of different combinations. Always down to try the local/regional burger chains - this one is apparently based out of the Carolinas, but when the other dining options were all international franchises it seemed worth the stop. So glad I did! The staff was friendly, the fries were nice and crunchy and well salted, the burger tasted like an actual hand-made patty grilled on a grill and was topped with onions and cheddar and bacon - yum! Pro-Tip is to get the "tray" which gives you a burger, two sides, and a drink for something like $5. I was overwhelmed by the menu (which looks like it has a lot of other Southern staples - BBQ, hush puppies, etc) and ordered a la carte. Great price, I go to the college near by, so I'm usually broke, so its prices being so cheap is great for me. That being said, the food is definitely not bad at all, it's got a large selection of food and for first time customers, they have a nice 5$ set of select your choice meals which you can easily configure to you choice, when you normally go to a place you never eaten before, you sometimes panic when there are people waiting behind to order so having the choice meals really saved me In terms of food quality itself, it's not bad, it's not oily (so it's probably healthier in that aspect) or moist (so having a soda or ice tea would be great when ordering) but it does taste like something from a proper grill which if u like that type of taste, it's definitely good to you. The time it takes to get the food is always quick, it's probably the only food place that I've been to that gets me the food that fast (drive thu is great for that reason at this place) and the employees are really great to, I've not had a problem with this place since I've been there, that being said, atmosphere is ok, it can difficult to enter or leave the area since the location ain't the best compared to other restaurants in the areas but compared to that, I've seen no noteworthy flaws and it's also usually packed so lots of others like it too (though because it can be rather packed, it's a more stressful atmosphere rather than peaceful so bring someone to talk to if plan to hang out inside and eat) read more

I have heard nothing but good things about this place. But after my first visit I'm highly disappointed in the place. First of all the lady taking my order was extremely rude. I told her that my co-worker wanted the cherry flavored beverage and she said well I don't know what you're talking about so I guess she won't get a drink. I then noticed Cheerwine in the menu so I ordered that. Thankfully that was correct. Then the order I placed was not made as I specified. I asked that there be no lettuce, onion or mustard on the burger and guess what?!? Yep you guessed it, it had these on it instead. I asked for Mayo and there wasn't Mayo on it. They did however get the ketchup and pickles correct. But alas they left my tomato off. I also ordered Cajun seasoning on my burger and it had none. Oh! And I also ordered a cheese burger and got a regular hamburger. SMH! I ordered several orders with mine and none of them were labeled so that we had to open and guess if we were getting the right order. Then we had to switch burgers.
