Just had bbq plate. delicious!! We eat there quite often. Great prices and service.

Okay. So to start, I've been coming here since they opened and everything is always perfect. Food is great. Cheap. Always $13 and some change for the fiancé and I. Except today. I just got off of work and was craving a simple thing, chicken tenders and honey mustard. So we go into the dining room when the girl inside makes us leave because they left the door unlocked and we're now closed when usually the dining room is still open. So that was okay. We pull into the drive through and we order our usual and pull to the window and the total is $14 and some change. So we try to see what's up and turns out they rang us up for Cheese Fries instead of Cajun fries, and a fruit punch instead of a shake. So I tell her and they fixed it. Then, when handing me my change, she dropped it. To make matters worse, we pull off and find they gave us BBQ instead of my honey mustard I was anxiously awaiting. My fiancé fixed that. Then we open our food and find out, they still gave us the cheese fries and no napkins. Needless to say? We might be changing our usual location and traveling an extra mile or two to get to the Battlefield one. read more

This place is awesome they have great hotdogs, hush puppies, chicken fingers, and onion rings and that was just awesome they have awesome service and this is the only place that I can find my favorite soda Cherrywood. read more

I have been going to Cookout for more than half my life. I grew up in North Carolina where it all started and I love going there as often as my wallet allows, which considering the awesome prices is more than I should care to admit. I LOVE their burgers. They aren't pre-manufactured, frozen, flat bricks of filler, they are real hamburger patties cooked on a real grill. People who complain about the "hype" are probably looking for gourmet food. THIS IS NOT IT.... It is delicious backyard cookout with your family on fourth of July food! Just today I got a delicious burger, corn dog, fries, and large swet tea for under $6... Try going to any other "have it your way" burger joint and get the same thing.... And people want to complain about cheese being like what $0.50 extra (BTW my $6 included a CHEESEburger). If you don't like North Carolina BBQ, then don't get it. It has vinegar... Just don't do it and don't complain. If you LIKE NC BBQ then get it... Also, to those who dislike getting a corndog for a side.... why? It's delicious... With the Cookout Tray you get a main entree of either a burger, sandwich, or chicken, then you can get 2 sides, fries, hushpuppies, coleslaw, chicken nuggets, corndog (Perfect for splitting a meal with a young child)... take your pick! I will tell you one thing, McD's ain't gonna give you 2 sides.... unless you want to pay for another one. And btw, McD's can't TOUCH the sweet tea they have at Cookout! It's real southern sweet tea... And the milkshakes.... Oh good Lord they have delicious milkshakes! I always get the peanut butter fudge and you can see the and taste the REAL globs of peanut butter (not just flavoring) that they put in there. It is spectacularly delicious. Don't like peanut butter... no problem they have literally 40 more flavors to choose from. How many does any other fast food place have? Check..... wait for it..... mate! read more

4 onion rings? Really? So, I hear so much about how wonderful this place is, and the food is awesome, and seemingly there is always a line out the door. Well, the wife and I decided to grab lunch and noticed that the parking lot was not slammed so we went in. Gotta say, I am not impressed. The folks behind the counter seemed unsure, and didn't have a clear line or set of lines, nor did they separate the counter area into "ordering" and "waiting for food" , so there was just a gaggle of lost souls trying to figure out where to go. So, I got the $5 combo meal, burger, quesadilla, onion rings and drink. The burger was really well done and dry, I asked for no pickles yet there they were and then... 4 little, overly crispy onion rings.... 4. I know it's a value meal, but that is just stupid. I can not say I ever see myself waiting in some crazy line for this type of service or quality of food. So many other choices to go for so much better food. read more

literally just came from this place and i asked for reg. burger tray and my two sides were two chicken wraps and i got an cheese cake, usually don't have a problem with any cookouts but tonight i didn't even get a fork to eat my cake with and then look in my tray and i have union rings and french fries if i wanted that i would've ordered it !!! so mad they ruined my appetite... i pay my money for what i ask for the least you can do is make sure my order is right!! read more

My son came to me and asked if we could try this place. After reading all write-ups on this place I decided to go ahead and try it. We drove to cookout the parking lot was packed I had to park in Taco Bell parking lot and walk over. When I went inside the restaurant I was surprised to see that there weren't many people. The main reason there are "lines wrapped around the door" as many of the reviews have said is because the menu is not that easy to read for one. Also because it is a new place not too many people know what they want. Cookout is a knock off of five guys. My son ordered a huge burger with cheddar cheese on it. The burger did not come as a combo. I ordered the Cajun chicken which came as a combo with two sides. So I got onion rings and French fries to share. The burger according to my son was ok! He said I can make a better burger at home than what they had. My chicken was juicy not over cooked at all. The spices were not of Cajun tasting at all, but it was a decent sandwich. I hear the shakes are pretty good but not sure as of yet! read more

Great place and you know it from the busy drive thru. The food is good for a decent price. If this place would more agressively compete in the Hampton Roads area it would kick out a lot of fast food restaurants that are lacking. Some of the milkshakes are less than though, like the watermelon (it was bland). I get the 1/2 pound hamburger with slaw and mayo all the time and my husband gets the bbq plate. Hushpuppies are small but cheap and good. Be forwarned though, be loud and clear when ordering your food and check it before you leave the window. They have messed up my fries, especially if you want cajun seasoned fries because it's a damn madhouse in that food prep/kitchen area. So again, be loud when ordering and check that food before you go home. I'm surprised there's not a larger seating area for those that want to eat in because it can fill up easily. I'd much rather see a Cook Out than a McDonalds or Burger King in my neighborhood. Oh yeah, the place is open pretty late so it's good for late night snacks and stuff too. read more

ok well it was a good meal.. just right for a i don't want to cook night.. and i have put 3 stars for one reason only.. THE AWESOME SHAKE.. i mean it is the reason i will return and wait in line which by the way went faster than I would have expected for the amount of patrons, both in cars and going inside to place their to go orders.. long story short for a nice burger and a great shake visit :-) read more

This place saved the night after I overpaid across the street for a banana split. I drove over here and purchased a milkshake which was way more filling and tasty than what I had at the drive inn place! read more

I really like Cook Out. The burgers are great, and so are the fries. They were plying some of my favorite music, which is a plus! The best part is the milkshakes! They have so many flavors, it takes a while to decide which one to get, but whichever one I choose, I am never disappointed. Great restaurant. read more

The prices are great. The hamburgers and chicken are good, The BBQ sandwich sucks with a bad after taste, Overall good food, onion rings, shakes , floats,fries Just don't order BBQ .
