This is my favorite breakfast place. Not because the food is perfect (it's very good though) or because it's innovative (this is no-nonsense breakfast)... but because it's been the same every time I go in. Usually the same staff, the same cooks, even the same customers. These folks have the routine down to an art. Since I moved from my hometown, I'd been looking for a place like this, where the servers would know me and know what I want as soon as I walk in. I've found that here. Yes, it's a seat-yourself establishment, which is a double-edged sword... once you know that's the deal, you know to just find a place to plant yourself. But it also means hovering in the entryway until someone gets up. But that's okay. To me, it's worth the wait. The sweet tea is SWEET (southerners will be pleased) and not weak at all. The bacon is thick-cut and baked in the oven (which I prefer). And everything else is pretty standard, good quality. They even have a "junior breakfast," which is a smaller portion, available to order regardless of age. It's the perfect size for people who want the traditional breakfast but don't want to gorge themselves or be wasteful. I've also been in for some lunches, and the egg salad is lovely, chopped fine and generously portioned on the sandwich. Their soups are also good (especially the split pea). read more

Today was my first time visiting this cute little spot. One of their signs says: Enter as strangers, leave as friends. It's true. The staff is very nice and the conversations are live and personable. Within walking in, my order was taken and my meal was in the table in 10 minutes. Wow! The waffle with powdered sugar was amazing, along with my eggs and bacon. Only thing I ask: Don't forget to check on all your customers. After my food was delivered, no one came back to my table to ask if I was ok or needed anything. But I would go back. read more

Walked in didn't know whether to seat ourselves or not. 2 waitresses having conversation ignored our presence. had to excuse an interruption to ask if we should seatb ourselves. we arrived at 11:01 and were told breakfast stopped at 1100. They decided to accept one more breakfast order. However was told they were out of home fries. I said no problem just give me a pancake instead. witress refused as that is not a normal sub for home fries. The service was quick and nice. The couple servers we met were both very talkative and informative as we have just moved into the area from further north in Towson. My dad had the special soup which was the sausage and barley soup when we were there. He said it was quite tasty. He also had a standard cheeseburger which they cooked to his liking(medium rare). It was big and remarkably juicy. The fries that his order and my order which was the dinner liver and onions were both very good. They were crispy, and had some sort of flavorful batter on them. My fries (and the liver) were smothered in their house brown gravy which was also very good. The liver was maybe just a little overcooked but was still mostly very tender and flavor-wise it was exactly what I had asked for. My other side was the apple sauce which was fresh and chunky. My mom ordered the tuna salad sandwich which came with chips. Her sandwich was also good and the chips were good, although I wouldn't think they were homemade. Disgusting! My family made me stop here for breakfast and it was over priced for how cheap it is. I thought that it would be a great place to have breakfast due to how packed it is, but they proved me wrong. I had an omelet and it was made with the cheap Kraft cheese. They are right across the street from two grocery stores and they can't get deli cheese or shredded cheese??? Also, the omelet had zero flavor. I've been here a few times. It's definitely different from most breakfast places. It's in a remodeled house. It's very small but I think it adds to the charm. The waitress was nice and made jokes the entire time. She was great with my toddler also. The food was homestyle and came in huge portions. The only complaint I have is the price. I ordered grilled chicken breasts with a side of broccoli and apple sauce for dinner. Apple sauce, lovely. Tasted homemade. The chicken breasts were shaped like protoplasm and flat, smothered in grease, salt, and pepper. The broccoli was cooked within an inch of its life; not edible. Rolls are served with the meal. Might be made fresh. Would have been very good if not slathered with butter which took away from the taste. Optional butter would have been appreciated. Onto the waitress.
