My wife and I were really looking forward to trying Illusions Restaurant & Bar after a good friend and his wife recommended it. Originally, we planned to go for my birthday, but when we couldn't get a reservation the day before, we made other plans. Fast forward to last week, excited to finally check it out I called to book a table for four for Sunday, August 10th, 2025. That included our friends who recommended the place. During the call, the music in the background made it hard for the hostess to hear me, so I had to repeat my info several times. By the end of the call, she confirmed everything and told me our reservation was set. We all made plans, kids with family, the whole day lined up. This was supposed to be stop #1 before hitting a few more spots together. But when we arrived, the hostess told us our reservation was canceled because we hadn't paid a deposit. This was news to us. No one mentioned a deposit during my call. I checked their website before booking, no deposit policy listed. Our friends even pointed out they'd been there before, sat in the same section they could see from the door, and were never asked to pay a deposit. Instead of trying to help, the hostess told us it wasn't their responsibility to inform customers about the deposit. No apology, no attempt to make it right, just moved on to the next guests while we were left outside figuring out our next move. Later that night, I messaged the business on Yelp hoping to clear things up. The reply I got back felt like an AI-generated template. So careless they even left "Sample Text Below" in the message. That told me everything I needed to know: the staff's behavior is a reflection of the leadership. For a place that only allows brunch with reservations, you'd think they'd have a clear and consistent process. Clearly, that's not the case. I wanted to like Illusions. I still believe in giving a place the benefit of the doubt. But this experience showed me that customer service here isn't a priority, and that's something no good food can make up for. read more

First time here. Made the reservation a few weeks prior via IG. Brunch on a Sunday is done in waves, so our time slot was 130-330pm. Free, surface parking lot in a shopping center (Food Lion). I arrived at 120 and checked my party in. No one is seated until 130p, so everyone just stood around waiting for their name to be called. Also, when you reserve, they send you a link to officially make your reservation and also pay a $20 deposit, that is taken off the check for whomever made the reservation My guest and I were seated in a comfy booth. Our waiter came over and was attentive to our needs/questions and explained how everything worked as "newbies". The buffet brunch was $55. If you want unlimited mimosas (OJ/Pineapple) that was an extra $20 and for flavors (Strabwerry, etc.) is was an extra $25. The buffet menu and "made to order items" were included in the $55. There was also an a la carte option. 18% gratuity is automatically added! DJ AJ Showtime and hostess started playing right before 130p and the restaurant lights were dimmed a bit. Music was great! Various food options (except any kind of desert) and they were all pretty good. There were two women who put food on your plate. It seemed like, we got in line for the buffet on order of seating. We sat down 2nd, so we were first in line. I went back for a 2nd plate (to try the soul food) and there was never a line at all. Mimosas came in a carafe. And midway thru, the guy brought a bottle of champagne to our table! Around 230 the Black Woman owner also came around and gave everyone shots. That was pretty cool, and kept everyone engaged. If you wanted to "dance" it was done in your seat. No people dancing on seats or anything lol Bathroom had 2 stalls, and was tight when you walk in Only hiccup was that it didn't seem like there was any air. There is a nice menu and buffet that is served so that there is no issues with others not being sanitary. When I say the food is awesome and environment. Even the patrons were awesome. I found out about Illusions on IG and have been trying to visit for a while. I finally got a chance when my cousin decided to have brunch here for her birthday. Illusions is definitely pretty inside. Each wall gave an opportunity for a pretty backdrop for photos. While they do have a la carte small bite options, we opted for the $55 bottomless Sunday brunch buffet option which included made to order dishes. I tried a little bit of almost everything. I really enjoyed the cornmeal crusted catfish, Bourbon glazed brioche French toast, salmon, pasta salad, collard greens, Bourbon me chicken thighs, breakfast potatoes, and cornbread. The mac and cheese wasn't bad but I wasn't crazy about it. The grits were very bland and not very creamy. For drinks, some in our party opted for the $20 Unlimited mimosas and some of us ordered cocktails. I ordered a Peach on the Beach. While it was good, it wasn't much liquor in it. This is a nice spot for Sunday Brunch. They have a lot of rules that will be texted to you. After you leave your credit card info for the $20 deposit. Which if you no-show. They keep but if you arrive. It will go towards your bill. They don't split bills. They don't accept cash unless you're paying for your complete party with cash with no return change. They automatically add the 18% gratuity. So you don't have to worry about that. I booked this because I heard they had a jamming DJ. Which I find out he doesn't start on Sundays until 1:30. We arrived at 11am. Someone was celebrating their birthday so he said he would go ahead and play earlier. He was good but they didn't make that clear of his start time when I called. They just said yes he will be there. You have a two hour slot time. One good thing is they offer free shots on Sunday. The buffet is $55.00 some things on the buffet menu was good. While others was overly salted. Now I loved the crusted catfish. The salmon was good. The salad, was it worth it to me. No I would stick to the small bites next time and book my time when the DJ is guaranteed to be playing. Nice that they have a dance floor. We did get up there for awhile but keep in mind your time is limited there for two hours so eat as much as you can beforehand. There's plenty of parking available. read more

I've been following Illusions Restaurant & Bar on Instagram for a while and was excited to finally check it out for Sunday brunch. This Black-owned spot in Anne Arundel County definitely caught my attention. I made my reservation via ig DM, which they confirmed through Toast Tab, choosing the 11 AM-1 PM seating. Our server, Jasmine?, was attentive, and the overall vibe of the restaurant was amazing. The DJ brought all the energy, and the ambiance was stunning, from the green wall to the LED lights. It's definitely a beautiful spot to celebrate and vibe out. The brunch is $55 per person, with bottomless mimosas for an additional $25. For two of us, the total came to about $250, which included a few specialty cocktails. I ordered the Mango Mimosa, and my fiancé had the Pineapple Mimosa. We also tried specialty cocktails--the Peach on the Beach for him (he found it a bit weak) and the Hennything Goes for me. Although they were out of Hennessy, the bartender improvised with Woodford Reserve, and my drink turned out strong and flavorful. Brunch features a buffet with a variety of options, but I found the food to be on the cooler side and felt it could have been spread out more for easier access. There was a long line at times. However, you can also order items made to order through your server, which adds a nice touch. The cornbread and biscuits brought to the table were warm and delicious, and a highlight was the complimentary round of shots offered to the entire restaurant--a fun and generous gesture. They are very strict about their seating times, and by 12:45 PM, the lights came on to prepare for the next seating. Parking is free, which is always a plus. Overall, I'd give Illusions a solid 7.5/10. It's a great place for celebrations, good vibes, and gorgeous decor, but there's room for improvement in the food's presentation and temperature. They were very accommodating when we had to push our session time back due to car trouble. I went to brunch at the second location. We got there late but they were able to accommodate us. Once we got in, the atmosphere was great and they had Porkchop as the Dj. However, the food and service were not good at all. The options on actual buffet were mostly cold or over cooked. There are certain items that are made to order on the brunch menu but it was hard to order them. Our server didn't really come to the table so we had to keep flagging her down. $265 for 4 people (plus a $20 deposit) just wasn't worth it. My friend celebrated her 40th bday here this past Friday and let me say this, it was definitely a night she will remember forever!! A time was had! The restaurant is located in Glen Burnie, which is epic for this area. As a proud Anne Arundel county girl, we would normally have to travel to Baltimore or D.C. for this vibe! The location is very convenient, safe, with plenty of free parking. The decor is what you would expect from a lounge- type restaurant. Trendy and a bit typical, but it was clean which is what's most important. The cleanliness extended to the bathroom as well. The dining room is nice and open, with plenty of space between the tables. There are also TVs throughout the restaurant and on this particular Friday, there was a DJ. I'm not sure if that's normal for a weekend night, but he definitely did what needed to be done. Our server, Cody, was the absolute best! He was very personable and attentive. We were not sitting for hours waiting for him to take our order and our food came out in a timely fashion. He also made sure we had plenty of water and that our drinks were constantly refreshed. I ordered three of their blueberry drinks with gin, I am kicking myself for not remembering the name of the drink. The drinks were nice and strong, just like I like them! They were also offering five dollar green tea shots, so we ordered a few of those. As for my meal, I had the angel eggs and the catfish with grits. Both dishes were super flavorful. I had some leftover catfish and grits and it was just as good the next day. Ten of us dined during our visit. Now, I will warn you, they do not spilt checks, which I personally don't mind. But if you have any of those "who ordered the gratuity" type friends, this may not work for you. We opted to split the check nine ways, minus is the birthday girl and were able to pay using multiple cards. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Illusions Restaurant and Bar! I ordered the seafood flatbread pizza. The pizza was good, but I didn't care for the sauce. The sauce wasn't bad, but it didn't go with the pizza in my opinion. I ordered a lemon drop mocktail, which was okay. The bartender was nice. It is very cold at the bar. I had to leave out to get my jacket and come back. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to come here finally. I've always heard great things about Illusions, and I can conquer that they were true. This place is most definitely a vibe. They have a whole DJ section, the decorum is so chic and it's got a sense of "maturity" to it. I came here with my sister to celebrate her birthday, and the server we had was so so sweet. I loved the food A LOT. Everything was cooked so well, my favorite part of the meal was the Angel Eggs. I could eat 10 lol. Came her one Sunday evening or the first time. This was the first Sunday of the month which they have comedy night. May want to check to see the type of show they will be having. They have a clean show and they also have a explicit language show. Friendly service starting at the desk when you first come in to the waitress. Nice music and not too loud playing. Started with the hot honey shrimp angel eggs. Highly recommended. Not too hot but came taste the spice and the honey went nicely with the egg filling. Also order the crab cake egg rolls. Upon walking into this establishment, I must say The decor is amazing and with the live DJ and live music on this particular day (R&B singing and saxophonist) *chefs kiss* He was really singing "Charlene" and all the hits that are responsible for birthing the gen-z generation. For food, we got chicken fingers and fries to share. The craziest part about this whole thing is the fries had sugar on them! Yes they were sweet. I'm not sure if someone mistook the salt shaker for the sugar shaker, but we couldn't believe it & I asked two people, including my server if sugar on fries is standard and no one really had an answer or offered to do them over. We packed up the chicken to go. The table next to us got the mac & cheese and when I asked about it, they said that it was "okay", dry and needed some seasoning which is consistent with other reviews made in the past. Our slot was 11-1 which they will cancel if you aren't there on time but even though we got there around 11:30, we were still seated and had plenty of time to eat. I did the brunch buffet option with the bottomless mimosas. Everything, and I do mean everything I got on my plate was bomb. Usually there's always at least one thing that isn't that great when it comes to buffets but I can honestly say everything I ate was a 10/10. For a split second I thought I was back in Texas the way the catfish was fried to perfection. If you're from Houston, this place is basically Phil & Derek's ala 2016. Went for a bday brunch on a Sunday recently and was not disappointed. For 55.00 you have access to an unlimited buffet and a banging DJ. The DJ jammed so hard, my party barely ate its food. On the buffet were your standard brunch items: bacon, sausage, potatoes and French toast. Then there were some other items: collard greens, yams, salmon cakes and etc. I will say the buffet had a little something for everyone. And then you had your made to order items: fried catfish, shrimp and grits, Belgian waffles, steak and eggs. They truly do give you your monies worth for your 2 hr window. My party went at the 11am hr so it wasn't as turnt as I imagine the other time slots being. For an additional 15 bucks you can sip unlimited mimosas. The service was courteous and swift. So I'll preference this with letting you know I went to new illusions (or as the DJ kept calling it, Illusions 2) located in Grand Ballroom in Glen Burnie about 10 minutes away from the original location. I'm not sure if this Sunday was their first Sunday open or if they just have all new staff -- but I was HIGHLY disappointed in the experience. They were not ready to open and should probably close down, get themselves together, and try again. The brunch food was a brunch buffet and the food was simply not that good. Definitely not $55 worth. The chicken was frozen chicken tenders, the macaroni and cheese had an odd taste, and the bacon was beyond soggy. Also, I ordered some eggs (which are made to order) and it literally took an hour and 15 minutes for them to come out. The flank steak was overcooked, but the gravy it came with was okay. The saving factor for this restaurant is its "vibe". The music is good, the DJ was interactive, and they walked around handing out shots. The fried Cat Fish it was made to order, and it was delicious the Mac and Cheese was also good it was the two best things that had. if you go for the brunch stick with the small plate offers skip the buffet. I am not sure what music they play at other times but everything that was played today between 11-3 was explicit and rachet music defiantly not a place for kids hence the menu says 21 and over. They are a cashless establishment so be prepared to use your card. They also automatically add 18% gratuity and if you have a large party you are also charged an additional 2%. To sum it up if you don't mind loud sometimes explicit music then this is the place for you. I am not sure what it is like after dark however I'm sure its turned up. So glad my friend brought me here for brunch. The vibe was everything in the DJ was pretty good for brunch. It is all you can eat for about two hours, but when it comes to the phase, I like to be in right as they open and that's exactly what we did.. the food was fresh and it was not too packed. The only downfall to coming in early, is that the DJ doesn't really start playing till about 1 PM or so.. however, since he was relatively early and one of the girls was celebrating her birthday, he went ahead and played a few hits for the few of us & we took to the stage. Also, we had a few adult entertainment to include a hula hoop contest, which was lots of fun because they use the kids type. Anyone that does hula who, there's a difference between the kids and adults type. She was fine to watch his fumble. The food was amazing from the mac & cheese to the greens & this is amazing French toast with some spice to it, I think it was bourbon. My homegirl has fried catfish and it looks so crispy, and she actually loved it.. surprise, they also passed around lemon drop shots as well as some kind of watermelon shot which was superb. Went here because I was in the area. The restaurant sits in a strip mall on the hill. The restaurant is a decent size but it's not massive, so to have a DJ is cool but the volume of the music was really loud. My Apple Watch kept sending me loud noise notifications. The music was 90s-00s which I appreciated. The food was 8/10. I got the Mac n cheese, greens and salmon. The food wasn't greasy or salty. I wanted to try the dessert but they had sold out. Service was not bad but not great. Our orders were taking in a timely manner and were taken correctly. Check ins were minimal as drinks needed refills and napkins to wipe our hands and mouths. Let me start off with the atmosphere it's so cute in there. Black female owned which just makes it better. I went on a Friday night the band was too loud for that size space. Now food was great the peach lemonade was top tier. Would go back just for that alone. I had the salmon Mac and cheese with sweet potato casserole. The sweet potato casserole was tasty and perfect but not a casserole it was just sweet potato with butter and parsley. The Mac and cheese was cheesy just had an after taste. The salmon was cooked perfectly asked for jerk pineapple sauce tasty with a kick. My friend had the chicken greenbeans and Mac. She said everything was tasty. But green beans were crunchy. Food was just okay, they need way better seasonings because it tasted very bland. I had the catfish & grits and I don't remember ever having some this bland, and my sister had the pasta with chicken and the pasta was SO FLAVORLESS wtf?? How do you miss with pasta?!! Literally tasted like they didn't even put salt on it. The service was good but the server could've been more attentive. The hostess advised it would be a 45 minute wait because certain tables were reserved. Cool no problem. The way the message was delivered was not ok. Then called 25 minutes later and asked do y'all still want the table all aggressive. Girl!!! So we are now seated and said tables that were reserved were unoccupied the entire time we were there. The waiter was awesome. Very alert and attentive to our needs. She did all that was required of her. She was definitely appreciated. The food is mediocre at best. The Fish, greens and green beans all salty. The Angel eggs were ok but why cut the shrimp in half , put a whole shrimp on top. Wings were average. A friend had the blackened salmon and stated it was covered in what tastes like heavy cream. Another friend had the seafood pasta and the steak was not good at all.
