This particular location is on my way home from the office, so periodically I'll stop by here to grab something to go if I'm in the mood for a burger. I've never used the drive-thru as all of my visits have been walk-in. But the service I received when placing my order was decent for this type of establishment and I've never had anything wrong with my order. They also had my order ready to go in 5 minutes or less. Although some would say Five Guys has better burgers, I have to say that I prefer Cook Out a bit more due to the fact that my food isn't dripping in elbow grease (something I'm sure my arteries would thank me for). The burgers are definitely better than what you would get at any of the national fast-food chains. I always like to get the "steak style" burger which is always perfect to me and delicious (although I prefer my burgers without mayo). I also like their BBQ sandwiches that come on a bun with coleslaw and Texas Pete. I'm not really a hot dog person, but once I decided to get one and thought it was pretty good. Their fries are also pretty good and not greasy like that other place I mentioned above. The best part is that all the sandwiches come wrapped in foil and taste exactly like something you would get at a family cookout. I have yet to try any of their shakes, but I hope to rectify that soon. The portion sizes are also good considering the reasonable prices. Ok I live .8 miles from this store I love that they have added an hour on to their close now it's 3 on reg day and 4 am on weekend bc the flow of business is still store around that time but what's the point if the order taker starts off rude that's the only person you deal with at drive through so that sets a bad name for the brand and the orders are not being taken fast enough or people are not being told hold on and some one will be right with sorry for the wait no instead people are driving off that's money waking away I've been managing fast food retail you name it for the last 6 years like Wendy's ,Burger King , popa Johns ,Pizza Hut , stuffys , Jersey Mike's cook out has the advantage bc only places still open after one is Waffle House and Denny's and IHOP now would like to see happier employees ok it's not the greatest job but but having a smile greeting at the window and saying things like thank you for choosing cook out how's intake your order or it's a great day at cook out how may I take your order and always thank you have a nice night or day the little things go along way just thought I'd share my opinion on this and so me and my girlfriend both went 6/10/19 and she had hair in her hush puppy I had hair in my cook out try but at least it was on the foil bc everything was wrapped in foil so it Wasent on my food still nasty read more

Friendly staff. Always clean inside. I love the particular location. The staff seriously is always welcoming and attentive, and if you're not sure what you want, you can run some things by them and they'll suggest somethin. Get the tray special, is the best deal in fast food. $5 gets you further than any other burger joint will. I'm hired to deliver it. 12 orders in the past 3 days, and 7 of them were incorrect. -If you order cheesecake, once they give you your food, ask for the 'slice.' They WILL have forgotten it. -If you order a huge burger, make sure they used the proper burger patties. They like to sneak 'Big Doubles' in as 'Huge' burgers. -If you order ANYTHING 'plain,' double check it. They like to add extra toppings that you didn't want. read more

I decided to try Cookout on Midlothian because everyone always says how cheap it is and how It is always packed. I have dined in and been through the drive through. The service is good and your food does come out pretty quick. The food is good, but honestly, its just about the same as any other fast food restaurant. The prices are a little below average but not by much on most items. The menu shows $0.99 to make it look cheap, but for a lot of items people want to add things to their hotdog or burger but to add something like cheese or have it made a certain way like Cheddar Style or Southwest Style is an extra $0.75 - $2.39. So its really not much cheaper than other places. The milkshakes are smaller and about the same price as a large milkshake from Burger King. But the plus side is that they have a much larger variety. Are you kidding me? This location of CookOut is cutting so many corners, its not even funny. Order a cheese burger and expect cheese on it? Nope! You're going to get a hamburger patty slathered in Velveeta cheese! Yum! I raised the issue with the manager, and I was told that 100% CookOut does not use real cheese on its burgers. Let me write that again -- CookOut does NOT USE REAL CHEESE. Nevermind that the Parham location does use real cheese, but whatever. The service in this restaurant is also a joke. When you are heading home from a late night on the town or having midnight munchies Cookout is the perfect spot to fill your belly. I love that they are open dang near 24 hours during the weekend. The double lines make it easy and fast to get your late night junk food fix. I normally order a big burger with everything. The charbroiled burgers are so good, especially after a night of drinking and dancing. The chili cheese fries are the perfect accessory to the burger. My meal is not complete without ordering one of Cookout's thick, creamy shakes. There are so many delicious flavors it can be difficult to choose. My favorites are the Snickers Shake and the Strawberry Shake. These concoctions are worth the calories. You will not be disappointed by indulging in one of these dairy creations. read more

I'm a big dude. Usually takes me a lot of food to get full. That usually costs me a bit of money. Cookout is one of those rare places where for about 10 bucks I'm well fed. Burgers are juicy and delicious. Their onion rings are amazing. They have Cheerwine! Their milkshakes are fantastic, and the whole menu is cheap. Had heard good things about the burgers at Cookout..tastes like they just came off the grill they said..closest thing to homemade he said..I disagree with both to some degree. First things first..this restaurant was very dirty and obviously the employees..several of whom were just standing around and talking..did not have any concerns about cleaning up. Multiple vacant tables had trash piled up on them. The floors were scattered with food debris, used napkins and the like..and the trashcans were overflowing..very disappointing. As far as the food goes..it was decent. My son and I each had a burger and fries. The burgers tasted closer to homemade then your average other fast food restaurant but they were in no way comparable to that which just came off the grill. Overall decent food but lost major marks for cleanliness..if your thinking of trying the place you might want to ask yourself..if the main dining section was that filthy..what's the cooking section and back line look like? Good burger for the price compared to other fast food burgers, great shake for the price, rest of the food is pretty average at best. The menu can be bewildering at first and fairly large choice for a fast food place. The price is very reasonable, so if you are hungry and on a budget, this place is great. We were visiting relatives in North Carolina from Massachusetts, and decided to try this place because we saw their signs all over the place while driving to Richmond. Woman with terrible looking fake eyelashes never cracked a smile as she took our orders. She actually rolled her eyes at me when I had to repeat what my wife's aunt was ordering. Once I ordered, she waved her hand at me to tell me to step aside so she could help the person behind me. I signed the credit card slip and handed it to the man who was standing next to her. He looked at it then threw it aside. "You don't need to sign that, man." He said. We got our food and sat down. I went up to get some ketchup but couldn't find it. The mustard, mayonnaise, salt and pepper were all together. I asked the unfriendly woman but she ignored me. Big shocker there! The man looked at me and said "what do you want?" I said I wanted ketchup, and he pointed over to the soda fountains. "Over there, aren't they?" I said "Well I guess I'll go find out. Thanks for your help." And there they were! What a fool I am, expecting the ketchup to be together with the other condiments! I looked up at the guy and he shook his head as if I really was an idiot. The unfriendly woman grinned, but not in a friendly way. On top of the lousy service and the unclean sticky tables, the food was average at best. Certainly not worth the terrible treatment we received from unfriendly woman and the unhelpful guy standing next to her! Selecting one star because it's as low as I can go! The wait in the drive thru took over half an hour. I asked for condiments on the side and got a hot dog drenched and watery. BBQ sandwich was soggy & dry. Looks completely unappealing. The woman in the drive thru forgot we didn't have our food and was yelling and laughing with other staff AND eating while handling our food and drinks. Disgusting and unsanitary. Correct me if I'm wrong but this is a job not social hour. I go inside to correct it & get an attitude from all staff I interacted with. Their kitchen was dirty and disgusting;Food, milk, trash all over the floor. Asked for sweet tea got unsweetened. I just don't understand what happened! If I tell you my order twice, I expect it to be correct. If I order the chicken spicy, I expect it to be spicy. I do not think that I am asking too much as a paying customer. The woman at the window had an attitude with me, but did manage to get the order correct on the ticket after a large struggle with communication due to poor speakers. However, we received food that did not match what was ordered, and was messily thrown into trays, not even divided into the correct trays. Employees clearly did not care about customer satisfaction. We've been under the weather, actually my wife, so a hamburger sounded good to her, no cheese ever. Me, Cheeseburger, always. So I ran up, stumbled thru the left hand turn in front of the restaurant from the outside right lane....you'll understand, the short lane/line makes a 90 degree turn in front of the restaurant. Went to the Midlothian location about a week ago for the very first time and was not impressed. I simply ordered a cheeseburger, fries and a corn dog. The person at the drive thru repeated my order incorrect the first time which I had to correct her as she left out my corn dog. Get to the window, pay for my order and then was handed my food...WITHOUT the corn dog. Urgh. There was no apology for the error whatsoever and I was asked if I wanted to pay $1.04 for them to give it to me...I said no thanks and drove off. I went to try this new cookout twice this week just to see if I would like it, unfortunately it's not as good as the one off West Broad. The service was fast and easy. I ordered the cookout tray with a double burger add cheese and bacon with fries and union rings and a milkshake. I waited less then five minutes and my meal was ready. I sat down inside and the place seemed nice, a good setting. Once I tasted my food however it wasn't what I expected my burger was salty for some reason and it looked as tho they just tossed everything together.
