1/2 hour and $10 part to make things work again. AC went out last night and slowly got warmer in the house up to 82-83 by the time Billy showed up. Reached out to several AC people this morning to schedule something while trying not to have an anxiety attack over how much this could potentially cost to get repaired whether a small part or a complete system replacement. Within 15-20 mins of sending a request on here Vixi reached out for more info on the problem. I sent the info and got something scheduled within a couple of hours of when the tech will show up. Initially Billy thought the fan motor on the outside unit was shot and gave a quote around $400 for that part but, I reminded him that it was working in the last 24 hours when I checked it this AM around 3am. We moved onto the Capacitor and that tested to be dead. Found a replacement in the van and hooked it up. I could feel a difference in how the outside unit was performing more like normal but, with a touch more gusto to the CFM's coming out of the top. AC is now working and the number is slowly dropping a degree every few minutes which is more than I could say before Billy came out to assess it. We went through other devices and checked all wiring within the shroud, ended up crimping 1 wire to an inverter, and just double checked everything else. Going from thinking this could be in the thousands to under $200 for the service call and part is a great relief. Billy tested out the charge on the system and that came back good which is nice since no service has been done in the past 3 years since buying the place which indicates the copper lines are solid and performing well still. Billy did give some advice on the motor / condenser to keep an eye out for and that sums it up! The reviews here do ring true as to Coll-It's integrity and customer service. Their prices are in line with everyone else in the AC game but, there's no need to upsell you on something you don't need if it's not broken. They will come out same day and give it to you straight on what the issues could be and systematically troubleshoot the issues working from one element to the next to rule out the issue. read more

Vixiene was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. He diagnosed the system very quickly and fixed the issue with no hassle. Turns it out it was a plugged drain and only needed to be cleared. Cool-it was the third company I called to diagnose the issue - I should have called them first. The other two companies tried to sell me on parts, repairs and even an entire new system that was not necessary. Have been using for ~5yrs. and continue to do so! Warranty and Follow-Up: Cool It has been AWESOME. I have been using them since a bad experience with a different A/C company under AHS Home Warranty. They've been very responsive. Most recently, May 17th, they came out to check why condensate water was flowing out my emergency drain instead of the primary drain. It turns out the A/C unit in the attic wasn't level. Billy quickly checked on the problem, asked me what I encountered and then went about fixing it. They didn't charge me for it as they replaced the evaporator coil in December under the A/C unit's 10 year parts warranty. Vixiene and Billy called it part of the follow-up from December. These guys are great. Cool-It has been my go-to A/C company for almost 5 years. I have not had a bad experience with them, and they are fair and reasonable. I called today and they had someone come out same day. I'm so grateful for that because my AC had been out for a couple days as I was waiting for someone else to come look at it, but that someone else was a no show for both days I expected him to come. The guy that came over to look at my AC, Billy, is a cool dude (pun intended). He found and fixed the problem that I had within an hour. A/C wasn't cooling despite unit running. I originally called company who installed the unit years ago, but they wanted what I thought was too high of a price just for service call. I called Cool-It whose service price was half as much as original company so scheduled appt for next morning, and Vixienne (I hope I spelled his name right) came out and had me back in the cool zone within 2 hrs. I was imagining having to take out a second mortgage for a new unit, but found it was just a part needing replaced as well as Freon. I found Vixienne to be very fair and reasonably price, very professional and just a nice guy all around. Would definitely recommend Cool-It to anyone needing a/c work. read more

I called yesterday to ask for a second opinion after a competitor recommended a new AC unit and started the aggressive hard sell routine. Vixiene fit me into his schedule the same day! He walked me through everything he was doing and explained the reasoning behind it. There was no hard selling and an enjoyable experience. He gained a customer for life. I called Houston-Cool-it because my A/C was not working this weekend. Houston is not the place to not have A/C. The tech can out was very polite and made sure my wife understood everything he was doing. He got to a point where it looked like the compressor was shot. We agreed on a price and as he started to change it out he discovered a wire under the compressor cover had burned open. A $$$ repair turned into a $ repair. A nice polite HONEST company to do business with. Found this company on yelp. Called them because he was a Angie's list and BBB endorsed, I would definitely recommend this company read more

We need a new unit for our 30 year old home (original unit is still in place) but it wasn't in the budget this year. I contacted another company with good reviews as well, but they wouldn't make a repair because they couldn't warranty it. I know the unit is old and not nearly as efficient as a new unit will be, but I just need it to limp through one more season. The gentleman from Cool-it Air was fantastic. While he did agree with the first repair man that it needed to be replaced, he was understanding that we couldn't do so this year. He was able to replace the broken part and wire it correctly on his visit. We also got an estimate to replace the unit next year, and it was a more cost friendly. I have to echo what everyone else on Yelp is saying about Vix and Cool It Air conditioning. So refreshing to have an honest person run a business. I understand how its so tempting for HVAC repairmen to price gouge. Your AC breaks in the middle of summer, you are desperate to get your family cool, so they come in and charge you 20x what it probably should cost. Vix is the exact opposite. He is as honest as they come and I am sure that is serving him well. He understands that reputation is everything and I am sure he has a client list a mile long because of it. My AC was acting up on Memorial day weekend. I called hoping to leave a message but he actually picked up while he was spending time with his family. I don't normally write reviews but I just had to share my experience. My AC stopped cooling and it was running nonstop at 77°for a week. I called a company (JM). After $400 out of pocket the problem didn't change. I called the company back and they came back then told me that the only reason my AC was not cooling well was because of the high temperatures outside and that I had the option of purchasing a new unit for 12k. Long story short I called Cool- It and explained to Vixen my issue. He worked me in the same day and checked it thoroughly and It turned out to be a very simple problem(wrong filter). Thank God for honest people who know their trade like Vixen. My AC started cooling right away. I'm glad I looked on yelp when our AC wouldn't kick on. Cool-it Air Conditioning and Heating couldn't be better. The gentleman who owns and operates the business was very professional and willing to work with my schedule. He came out on a Saturday morning and quickly determined the issue was the capacitor on our compressor. He thankfully had a replacement and installed it in no time. I think the whole visit was less than 20 minutes. I will definitely call Cool-it again if we have any other AC or heating problems. read more

The time came to replace HVAC system..could've waited a bit longer but just didn't want to chance it with Htown weather and 100+ degrees coming soon. Reached out for a quote from Cool-it and other vendors. Billy came out, looked at the furnace, condenser and evap coil and we talked about options. I never felt like it was just a sale for him--he really spoke to me like he cares and gave me several options. I didn't feel pressured at all. I decided to go with Cool-it bc they were the only vendor that really spoke well about their product selection. Also, they have serviced my place (maintenance) before so I am willing to have them come out and do same once HVAC is replaced. As soon as I called to confirm they won the bid,we scheduled a date to make it all happen and their team came out and finished the work in 1 day, ~8 hours (maybe). Decided to go with Cool-It for our annual a/c maintenance after reading the reviews. I had sent a message through their website - very quick response time with all questions answered and appointment set! Billy arrived on time and did a thorough job. The power of a Yelp review! Our AC unit in our 4 story town home wasn't cooling and we had been suffering with 77 degrees in our bed room for months and HIGH energy bills. We thought that we needed to suck it up and purchase a new unit and fork over $14k+ I do the majority of my vendor searches on Yelp, and I truly believe that I have saved thousands of dollars and great services because of the reviews. We called this vendor and he was able to come the next day. He did tell me that he would charge me a service fee to come out on top of any labor. When he got here he checked our units and said that he didnt think we needed a new unit, but that we were low on freon and our AC unit was filthy. We were still skeptical because other repairmen had come in the past and they told us that our AC needed to be replaced. He checked for leaks and said that if our unit didn't work after 2 days that he would come back out and bring a new unit to install - 3 days later our AC is blowing at 68 degrees and we only spent $250! This guy is as honest as they get! A few months after moving into a new home the AC stopped working in the middle of June! Also we were getting some water damage from leaks due to the condensation building up on the unit. We thought the AC unit was broken for sure. We received quotes from Majestic Air and 2 other companies. All three of them said that we needed new condensing coils, etc. blah blah blah. They all quoted a fee of a few thousand. I did some research on yelp and found Mr. V and thought I'd give him a try. He came to our home promptly and checked out our units and determined that we just were low on freon. He re-filled it for us and ever since then our AC units have been working perfectly. He really saved us thousands and I'm shocked and thankful there are good and honest technicians out there. I've had Vixiene out several times now in the last 9 months or so, and he is awesome. He always comes out within 24 hours of when I call him, and always charges a fair price. Actually, half the time he tells me to just pay him next time, which one might think is some kind of scam if not for the fact that all the work he and his guys have done (including a recent AC coil and unit replacement) has held up perfectly so far. This guy is a scam artist and I quite frankly believe the majority of his reviews to be false. He arrived at my home over 2 hours late, went outside and hooked his equipment up to the "low" side, came back and told me my coil was leaking and it would cost $1100 to replace. When I told him I would get a second opinion he then lowered the price to $900 and I continued to insist I'd get a second opinion. He then said he needed to check the "high" side and went back out to the outside part of the unit. He then pointed to some gauges as I watched him and told me he made a mistake, I had a broken valve and it would only cost $450-$500. Suffice it to say, I did not agree to do business with him. I got a second opinion from a reputable company referred to me by someone else, and quickly confirmed Vixiene tried to scam me. The other company could not confirm or deny whether my coil was actually leaking until they went into the attic and used a tool to detect whether Freon was present around the outside of the coil. They didn't find anything and told me other tests could be used to confirm it. They also explained to me that NO ONE can diagnose a coil leaking without some additional testing and at least going into the attic where the coil actually sits. And it was no shock to me to also learn my valve was just fine. And for the record, I learned there is also no testing separately of a high side and low side. When you hook the equipment to the outside unit it reads the high and low side simultaneously. And to think he has the gall to reply to my review with a "God bless" when he knows what he did. Vixiene from Cool It A/C and Heating was a breath of fresh air after a different tech from another company came and check out my mother's A/C after it stopped working. We asked Cool It A/C for a second opinion and it was a good thing we did! Our father just passed away so my sister and I are staying with my mom and helping to take care of anything that comes up during this hard time. The first technician that came out completely lied to us saying that we needed a whole new system because it had a leak in the coils and the coolant levels were low. He quoted us $5600 not really giving us much options. Well Vixiene came in and within 15 minutes figured out it was the electronic thermostat that needed to be changed out. After replacing it and getting the unit to turn back on he checked everything out in the attic and the outside unit. He said the coils didn't have a leak and the coolant levels were good! My A/C unit went out on Saturday night and after getting a quote of $10000 for a new A/C unit and some other bogus repairs, I decided to get another opinion. Thank you for the quick service and turnaround. I will use Cool-It again. My upstairs AC had not been cooling very well the last week or so and I originally thought it was bc I had it warmer during the day when we were not home and it just took a long time to cool it in the evening since it had been so warm. Well, this past weekend was really bad since we were home during the day and had the AC running nonstop and it could not get cool. I then realized that there really was something wrong with the AC. I called Cool-It this morning and he was able to come out within the hour. I explained my situation and he went straight to the outside unit and rigged up the gas gauge measuring thing and was able to tell (and show) that my AC unit was low on Freon. He told me the price of the freon and the approximate amount I would need and if it was ok to proceed with filling it up. I gave him the go-ahead and while he was filling it up, i couldn't help but ask him if he needed to check anything else, like a leak or whatever. But given my description of the situation, he thought it was only the Freon. He did add a dye in the Freon so that if my AC didn't cool again in the near future, he would be able to check the tubes or duct or something (I didn't get clarification) to find out if there was a leak. He said he could come back in 2 weeks (after giving time for the dye to run through) or I could wait until next Spring when I have my AC checked and see if there are any leaks. My assumption on why he said this is that if the AC is going strong, then i don't need to worry about leaks since it's still working. And the later time frame is that the Spring checkup would identify additional issues. Only thing is i didn't do a Spring checkup this year, so I'm wondering if i have any other issues. Whatever the case, he addressed the issue at hand. I hope this lasts and that I don't have a leak...otherwise i just spent a boatload of money for Freon that is leaking out of my unit. He was very respectful and polite, a trait that I really appreciate. read more
