A friend of mine referred me to Cooler Days. They gave us the best quoteand so we went with them. We spoke with Jim or Mike I can't remember exactly. But despite me not remembering the name of the gentleman the customer service was phenomenal. They worked with us as we got our house painted right before they started so it was a lot of scheduling that had to be done and even though the gentleman we were working with had just had surgery he still helped us and gave us top-notch customer service while recovering from surgery. On installation there the workers were so helpful and kind and considerate. They cleaned as they went and did not leave a mess after they left. Super unprofessional company. We paid 50% deposit and they've been giving us the run around for over 2 months, not giving us an install date for a patio cover. Dumb excuses like, they got robbed and didn't have a phone all weekend, it's too windy outside, they'll call Monday to schedule an install date then when you call them it goes to voicemail. I understand that lumbar prices have gone up from recent news, and they would be better off by communicating that to customers instead of dodging calls and treating us like idiots. I looked at and got bids from several companies when deciding to have a patio cover erected along the back of my home. Cooler Days came in with the lowest bid and I was most impressed with Jim, the sales rep. I could just tell by Jim's confidence that he had a lot of experience and was just easy going. I did not feel pressured to sign right away and it almost seemed like he understood that this was a big purchase and knew I would need time to compare companies and give it some thought. I took a quick look on Yelp for reviews and found all five star reviews, so I gave Cooler Days the job, which included replacing an existing patio with colored concrete and a two-toned patio cover. Everything came out wonderful. Except one thing. The water to the irrigation system did not work when they were done. I looked everywhere I could think of, but I couldn't figure out the problem. I called Jim, who was out of town, but he answered his phone and told me he would have someone come out and take a look. It turns out they turned the water off at the main valve outside. They came by, turned on the water and everything works again. Through previous jobs I have had a lot of experience with vendors. My philosophy is that everyone makes a mistake at one point or another; it's how they deal with it that matters. They dealt with it the right way: they took ownership, apologized and made it right, even though they already had the final payment. Most importantly, the colored concrete patio came out just as Jim said it would and the patio cover looks great. It just rained last night and the water went just where it was supposed to go. Overall they did a fantastic job, kept communication open and did what they said they would do and when they said they would do it. After plans were drawn up, they couldn't follow it. They built our cover too close to the fence, a fire code. Fire department denied the cover and when I told Mike this he kept b.s.'ing me that he'll come out and fix it. After months of trying to get this guy to fix HIS mistake I gave up. He didn't finish the job and I have a not to code patio cover. I would never in a million years suggest this guy to anyone. Mike is a scam and a terrible contractor! I had my patio done with cooler days and I think they did a decent job. As far as trying to get a hold of them now for some small issues, seems close to impossible. I've tried calling their office for almost 3 months, left a VM with my name and number on August 20th and today is October 5th, no one ever called me back. Paid $1600 deposit in September 2020 to Jim, the saleperson, and we are in January and still no patio cover. After MANY calls to the office, Mike finally spoke with me in November. After a long winded and nonsensical explanation, he said we would refund my deposit. After that he never took my calls. Jim said he would get a hold of Mike to find out about my refund. When he called me he said to show up at the office on 1/13 at 1pm. When I showed up office was closed. I returned the next morning 1/14 at 8am. One worker was sitting around waiting for Mike. He told me he would show up in 30 minutes. I waited. The employee called him to tell him I was waiting. No show.
