To cut a long story short, I have not had good experiences with HVAC companies in the past where they try to scare you into paying for overpriced (and unnecessary) replacement parts, expensive service plans, and then end up doing shoddy work. This was why my AC never cooled like it was supposed to.....for the last 6 or 7 years! Until now. I had read through all the reviews on Yelp for a HVAC company I could trust, and finally narrowed my choices down to Stanley at Irvine AC. I emailed the company about what I needed done....that is, AC was not cooling as it should, and to have my themostat replaced to a smart one. The response was quick and detailed....and surprised me as it was on a weekend and I didn't expect any reply till the following work week. Anyway, I later learned that it was Stanely himself who responded to my email, informing me what he would do, what it would cost, and even made several suggestions on thermostats for me to consider over the rest of the weekend....I really appreciated that. Anyway, Stanley texted me 20-30 minutes before ETA...nice....and arrived on time. He nicely greeted me, came prepared with his bag of tools,and a fully equipped van, and was even respectful enough to have brought shoe covers so as not to dirty our floors.....very good impression made so far. Stanley went to the AC unit outside to do his diagnosis and some time later came back to tell me what he found and made suggestions to fix the problem. It seemed the capacitor the previous HVAC tech installed was an unapproved model, and they had left the gas caps off, which is why the AC's freon had been leaking all these years, making the air in my home not cool. OMG! I couldn't believe it....finally, a solution! Stanley then gave us a breakdown as to what everything would cost, and I was pleasantly surprised it sounded very fair (compare to my neighbor who recently had his AC serviced). He also told us what we did and didn't need, never tried to upsell me into expensive parts and services, and definitely didn't try to sell me some overpriced service plan. Just simple, honest, friendly and fair expert service...that's it. During Stanley's time at our home, we chatted about this and that, and this gave me even more confidence in his abilities, his personality, and his character.....not only is he a true expert in what he does, he's a good, honest, and affable person, and as far as I am concerned, this is exactly what I been looking for for so long.

He explained about the capacitor--been hearing that word for years but never knew it meant something sort of like a battery in the condenser unit (that big metal cube thing that sits in your backyard that powers all of the life-sustaining cold air in the house that keeps you from certain death during a heatwave...LOL!l), flushing the drain lines etc. Also learned how to do simple things like opening the drawer for the filter--DUH! I'm so lame, I'd been trying to open the big flat panel to put in a new filter for some time but gave up --then the other day I realized the drawer on the bottom was the thing with the filter, but because I'm arthritic, I didn't think I could pull it out. Alan made it real simple for me and showed me there's a latch on it that you squeeze and voila!--it just opens! For a year, I haven't been able to master that one simple trick--LOL!! This time I needed HVAC service because my Air Conditioner stopped working during this awful heat-wave and despite being super busy & being around a holiday weekend, Honorable Air was able to come out in less than 48 hours from when I called them - which is amazing and I really appreciated! Today I had the pleasure of having Jesse as my technician (he is the owner and brother of Jeremy who was the awesome technician I had last time). Both brothers truly are honorable, as I was charged fairly and given options for upgrading items on my unit. I never felt pressured and Jesse was very fair-balanced explaining what was optional vs his recommendations, etc. Jesse is very knowledgeable and kind! As a woman, often we ladies aren't treated as well by contractors, but that was NOT the case with Jesse! Jessie treated me very respectfully and never 'mansplained' me and never made me feel dumb (not even when one of the issues with the AC was something I could have easily remedied on my own). Jesse was extremely professional, attentive and considerate! Truly honorable!! The best part is that Jesse had the part I needed already in his work van, so he was able to install it immediately and I didn't have to wait for him to order the part or go pick it up - as he was able to fix everything the same visit! My house is already cool again and I'm so thankful that the entire experience was so fast and efficient! What I also appreciated was how Jesse educated me on preventative care for my HVAC unit so I can keep it running without problems/service for longer. I will totally put his tips to use - as one tip was that I wasn't changing my air filters frequently enough, which was putting unneeded stress on my system (and that is a simple fix to make!). I also had a question about some HVAC products I had seen online and he was able to give me his professional opinion that one was gimmicky/not worth my money but the other would be worth looking into.
