Went to this restaurant for the Mother's Day Buffet with my son and husband. After waiting a while to be seated, we sat for 20 minutes and still had not received any service so we hit the buffet. There was no bacon, fruit salad was a mess, baked items were severely picked over and there was no beef at the carving station. What food we did take was good, waffles, french toast, turkey. There was only one knife on the table that we all had to share. Half way through the meal the waitress appeared and asked if we wanted a beverage. There was coffee but no mugs were available. My husband and I were so excited to visit this restaurant after reading the wonderful menu and so many positive reviews. Unfortunately, our entire experience was disappointing from the moment we arrived. When we entered, we were told that only a limited menu was available because of an "event going on." However, the event had already ended. The limited menu consisted only of pizza and very basic appetizers like mozzarella sticks, calamari, fried shrimp, and chicken wings--there were no actual entrées or meal options available. We arrived at 4:40 PM and, after reviewing the menu, were extremely disappointed. Having driven two hours to dine here, we asked both our waitress and the hostess if any additional meal options would become available. One staff member told us the full menu wouldn't return until 8 PM. Reluctantly, we ordered a couple of appetizers, which unfortunately arrived cold. What made the situation even more frustrating was seeing two tables that were seated around 4:58 PM--almost twenty minutes after us--receive the full menu and order actual meals. We then questioned the inconsistency and unfair treatment. If we were told the full menu would not be available until 8 PM, why were guests seated after us given it? Eventually, a manager came over and was apologetic, which we appreciated. Still, we left feeling disappointed that we never got to experience the food we had originally come for. While the location itself is beautiful--bright and right on the water--the restaurant unfortunately does not seem well maintained. There were noticeable dust and cobwebs around the space, and many surfaces felt sticky. Overall, it did not feel like a particularly clean establishment. Went to Cooper's Riverview for Easter Brunch. We had to wait at least 20 minutes for a waitress to take our drink order. When we went to the buffet most of the food was cold. I asked for a cup of coffee and that was cold. For a price of $40 per person I expected much more and will not be going back read more

Buffet had bountiful options, but very average in quality. For St. Paddy's, the vibe was off. Not overly festive in green/style of music being played (would have been nice to include some Celtic tunes). Specials menu was nice, but the Reuben was very lacking in corned beef. Still tasty. Lamb chops were a steal price wise at $24, but only came with 2 thickly cut. Was still hungry afterwards. They were cooked to perfection however and mighty juicy. Love this place!! We were there to see a band, Kindred Spirit, who were fantastic, dinner and drinks. Fabulous outdoor patio on the water with a beautiful bar. Drink prices were reasonable, as were the menu prices. Service was only okay but to be fair, the place was packed! Food was good. Will definitely be back with a crowd! Only negative and reason for 4 stars, not 5 stars, was too limited a menu. Could not find a dish I could eat with dietary restrictions & everything was pre-assembled, so couldn't accomodate changes for the allergies/food restrictions. Need some healthier, but still popular choices besides salads like grilled fish tacos, chicken & veggies, chicken milanese, broiled seafood, etc. Hope they will add to menu or have as daily specials options. read more

The hubby and I had plans elsewhere for Easter Brunch but with limited time since we had to pick up our son (last minute) from the train station, we decided to go close by to Coopers Riverview. I'll start off by stating that it was a holiday (Easter) and figured it would be a wait. I approached the hostess and she was so gracious to take a party of two. Typically, you would get a quick "NO" with most restaurants when you don't have reservations. We were seated in the room to the left of the restaurant which is where they have private events. The room is open with a stage and a bar. It so happens today they had Latin performers playing the guitar...great vibe. Now for their buffet. I've had better. The menu was limited. They had a continental breakfast which cost just as much as an entrée from the menu. The drinks were great and was able to get full (which is important). I've been here a few times on the other side for dinner. Their seafood buckets - crab legs, shrimp and mussels are good and the cocktails are awesome. High humidity, plastic utensils and a brigade of flies are usually not the markers that lead me to five stars but when considered against the magnificent view, stellar seafood boil and attentive service... consider me smitten. Basically, you're eating outside on a huge patio area that has seen better days and its share of Molly Hatchet tribute bands - or the cocktail hours for countless shotgun weddings. No way you say but I say... yes way... It's fun and liberating in a way that serious fine dining can never be and at the risk of repeating myself, the seafood boil calls to me even now. We've passed this place hundreds of times. I always thought of it as a nightclub. I'm glad we stopped for lunch today. The atmosphere is awesome!! You are right on the river which I love!!! COVID has things not normal yet but they did a great job! I had a sangria which was very good. And my husband had canned beer (no on tap offered yet). I had the Buffalo chicken wrap with homemade chips. It was delicious! My husband had the Coopers Cheddar Burger. He was craving a good flame broiled burger and he got it. He enjoyed it. He had a side of gator tots. He really liked them as they are not offered at a lot of restaurants. We shared the Marmont salad. Very good. The poppyseed dressing was delicious!! We didn't get a chance to taste the food, unfortunately. The two visits we made were in efforts to scout and reserve a great space for a graduation party for our daughter. We started early (maybe my efforts were considered too premature?) and maybe that is why our last two calls, and my last email were never acknowledged. When we walked in we were greeted warmly. The first visit we were told our contact would be there but she wasn't. But that's ok, we can look around, get a vision. We were emailed later emailed menu options and given a precise proposal. Looks good, but that club atmosphere needs to be celebrated! Why have kids sit and eat pasta? Let's do handhelds and dance the night away. And that I guess is where I pissed someone off. We went back to get a better vision with the contact onsite and to also ask if a more creative teenage menu was possible. I did ask if that would bring our costs down more to the minimum event cost. (It was reasonable to begin with, but this kid also wants a DJ, and photo booth, and I had secret tricks up my own sleeve to add to the experience and... well why should I have to explain asking questions about our money? Yeah I asked about costs.) She was kind and said it would be discussed with Chef and she would circle back. My daughter emailed her a couple of days later looking to see if we had the thumbs up. Silence. I called a couple of days later and clearly was not a welcome caller. I was assured the lack of response was because of the busy time of year, it being holiday season and all. I was told I would have info in 24 hours but of course 24 hours nothing. My daughter was confused. She was so excited about this place. And I was trying not to take the lack of communication personal. Who wants to tell their child there is a reason someone doesn't want to work with them? It feels personal when someone is in a service but doesn't want to give YOU the service. But, I kept trying. A couple of days later I emailed, apologizing for whatever frustration I may have caused, but hoping for an answer as we tried to balance good food, budget and a great experience for the guests. I was clear I didn't want to waste her or our time, but a response would be great. Crickets. I called one more time, asking for the contact by name, and it was clear the person who answered was not going to connect me- she was the gatekeeper, she took the message and that is how the potential plans ended. What this contact doesn't know is we were committed potential customers, our community is huge (Seriously. Huge.) and we return and refer, and we were planning our one light at the end of the tunnel that was darkened with two tragic losses. We were sad folks trying to plan a party when right now there was nothing to celebrate and being ignored added insult to injury. Such is life though right? It happens. Clearly I did something that was one thing too much for them, but she did something too, she added another rain cloud in my daughter's stormy year and I am not okay with that. After 40 minutes and still no food order taken we opted to abort dinner. It was clear that food was not coming out of the kitchen and being sent to the right customers. Two stars for the staff trying their best and enduring customers wrath to the point we saw a waitress cry. We tried to order the calamari with our drinks however they were out. It would appear they do not adequately stock food as it was after work on a Friday. We both ordered drinks and you guessed it they were out of stock. We opted for the Manhattan and a white wine. There's simply nothing else like it in town. I come here for happy hour and live music and will continue to. 90% of the staff ranges from adequate to excellent. The place isn't perfect. If it wasn't in Trenton I would probably rate it a 3 or 4. One server in particular is prone to getting herself caught in some sort of rift in the time-space continuum. Went in for lunch this week for my mother's birthday. She works in the State offices next door and has been here since it became Cooper's. Did some research and saw that they have some really cool specials throughout the week. We were going on a Tuesday so that meant we could do the tacos and margaritas along with the daily cheeseburger special. Figured that would make me, my mom, and my son happy. My mom ordered the cheeseburger special and my son and I shared 3 orders of the tacos (2 tacos, chips, and a little salsa and sour cream in each order). Our server would not let us mix and match tacos in an order (chicken/beef, soft/hard shell), but since we got three orders we could mix and match amongst ourselves. Tacos were fine. Nothing special. The shredded chicken was probably better than the beef. Came with cheese and lettuce on top. I appreciated that the soft shells were a little charred after seemingly being warmed over a flame. Nice touch. I would do that $5.99 special again. The margarita was decent too. The issues came with the cheeseburger. When it came out, there was no cheese on it. It looked incredibly sad. When I pointed that out, the food runner said "oh, you wanted cheese on it?" To that my mom replied, "Yes, I ordered a cheeseburger." The exchange was odd, but they took her plate to the back and it returned with cheese melted over top. Not a big fan of sending food back, but it was necessary in this case. At our food and everything was fine. The next issue came with our check. I had a sense something would be off and I'm notorious for just handing my credit card over without looking at the bill, and I was right. My mom's meal wasn't labeled as a "cheeseburger," but rather as a "smash burger" for the same price of $5.99. The issue is they charged us $1 to "add cheese" to her burger. When the server returned, I told her about the mistake and that we had been charged for cheese. She said we got cheese on our burger so that's why we had been charged. I explained to her that my mom ordered a CHEESEburger, and cheese must be included in that. She then basically told me that for the confusion they would just waive the $1 fee for cheese. I tried to explain that essentially it's not waiving anything because it should've never been charged. When she changed the bill and returned, I actually showed her the picture that I posted here and the fact that it says "cheeseburger" and not "hamburger" meaning that the cheese was included and that I wasn't complaining to be cheap but because the charge was a mistake. She refused to acknowledge that the charge was a mistake and kept acting like she was doing me a favor by waiving the charge. I get that it's a dollar. That's not the issue, but if that's your daily lunch special, how many of those have you served. There's no way in hell I was the first person to notice this additional charge on their bill. With two staff members acting completely confused by it, I almost felt like I was being scammed and that they try and milk an extra dollar out of ever guest who orders the meal. They need to either stop doing that or change their specials menu to say hamburger instead of cheeseburger. It's simple. It's not deception or anything by wording it in a confusing way, it flat out says it comes with cheese. End of rant. To top off the weird visit, I was sitting at my table alone while my mom took my son outside and I waited for my credit card to return from our waitress and this woman from the table next to me came over and took the ketchup off my table. Did not say a word, just walked to my table and removed something. Didn't even acknowledge me. What kind of loser human being feels like that is acceptable? How hard is it to say "hey, can we use that?" Didn't even look at me. It was fitting with the other issues I had I suppose. Neither is the end of the world, and I'm sure to most I'm overreacting, but it just makes me lose even more faith in people. What a weird hour of lunch. As crazy as I sound, if my mom said she wanted to meet there for lunch, I'd go back, but I'd clarify the prices fully before ordering. My sons favorite foods are grilled cheese and macaroni and cheese. I don't want to order those and find out the cheese is extra! read more

The "lobster " Mac n cheese was suspect. I found 3 chunks of what was definitely imitation crab or lobster meat, then a few flakes of fake lobster. last night me and my family came here to celebrate my great-grandmother's 94th birthday! the food was good, very fresh and hot. there salad was so good, very light and refreshing. there was a band playing called verdict carribean flavor that me and my family enjoyed so much all of us were dancing, it truly was such a fun experience. me and my family are carribean so the band was the cherry on top for us, the drinks were good as well! my great-grandmother enjoyed herself which matters the most. overall me and my family had such an amazing time, it was the perfect weather. we also got a wonderful view of the water right next to us and saw the train go by, and a couple of boats with people waving to us. it was very special. would 10/10 recommend. food was good, environment was good, drinks were good. definitely coming back again this summer! & a big thank you to our waitress for being so patient with us and making sure we were good, I think her name was mika/miyka I don't think im spelling her name correctly im sorry but she was so sweet and had wonderful energy. thx to her and everything else me and my family had an amazing time! read more

I'm so happy this place is back on track! Cooper's is in a great location in Trenton NJ. Right on the Delaware River, we can walk there from home. F and I have been there 3 weeks in a row for their Friday night happy hour. Happy Hour starts at 3pm and runs until 7pm with drink specials and an AYE buffet for $10. We have only had the food at the buffet and it's really good. They also have a bar menu. Cooper's is adding hours and events as they transition from the previous owners, who only did private events. This spot is wonderful for views, cocktails, service, food, live music, dancing... another great addition to the neighborhood. read more

We stopped in to check out this place. The interior isn't much changed from when in was Ro and not much changed when it was Katmandu. There is a large room with a stage for a band and a couple of bar stations. There's an indoor bar, a semi outdoor bar, and an outdoor bar. There's a dining area with a great view of the Delaware. There's also an outdoor band area. This is a beautiful area with views of the Delaware River, with plenty of free indoor and outdoor parking. It's right next to Trenton Thunder. We chatted with the friendly bartenders and some with the manager. They are pretty much going back to the Katmandu days, with bands, happy hour specials, $10 dinner buffets, outdoor bars, etc. I tried one of their fresh squeeze orange juice drinks, a little pricy at $10, but decent. I then switched over to house vodka and tonic for $6. Hubby had a White Claw hard seltzer, which was $5.50 and I thought should be more in the $3.50 range. He then switched to a domestic beer for $3. Our tap came to $30 for about 5 drinks, so not too pricy. According to the bartenders, the place doesn't officially open until next week. The menu will expand and there will be happy hour specials and the dinner buffet will start. A band was going to start at 8. I remember when this place used to be jumping on Friday and Saturday nights as Katmandu and the buffet food stations were banging. I hope it does well. We'll be back. read more

Today my colleagues and I came to Cooper's for our first time to enjoy a nice, stress-free lunch out. It was particularly special since it was to celebrate the holidays. We decided to give Cooper's a try, hoping due to its convenient location we may end up frequenting this establishment for future lunches. Once we were seated it took quite a long time for a server to come to our table. After placing drink orders our server disappeared. I had to go ask another server if we would be able to order soon since we had to go back to work after our lunch break was over. I stressed this very strongly to him. Once he took our orders we didn't see food for almost an hour. I had asked for our salads to come out earlier, but instead our salads came out 25 minutes after our food did. Any dressings or sauces we asked for on the side to enhance our meal were absent and never showed up. Other items from our order, such as dips, never showed up. It was a mere task to find our server to even ask him for refills on water. Twice a few of us had to navigate through the restaurant to try to find him. Unacceptable. The most upsetting issue was that one individual in our party never got her meal. She sat and watched the rest of us eat our meals as she was famished beyond belief. It was absolutely terrible. We even asked where her meal was and he told us it would be out in "one and a half minutes." This is verbatim. Her meal never came. Her order was never entered in. We eventually had our server put the meal in a Togo container before finally bringing it out to her. She ate her food as we physically were walking out at the end. It was pitiful. Even when we had to constantly ask for the check because we had to "go back to work" he asked "do you have to go back RIGHT now???" Not only did I stress this to him several times previously, but was that question even necessary? Unprofessional. It took a full two hours to get our food and finally the bill. My colleague gave her credit card to our server for a bill price there was $69. When he came back with the receipt for her to sign, she saw that instead he had charged her card for $143. When she approached him about this, he turned around and very rudely and abruptly said, "what?!". Finally once the $143 charge was reversed, a whole 15 minutes or so later, we were able to leave. This could have been a place we frequented, but instead will just be a nightmare. We all walked out feeling more stressed than when we walked in. This will be the last time we will ever step foot in this establishment and I am really unhappy and appalled by the experience I had today. read more

Made reservations for Mother's Day. Get to the front desk, another party was in front of us, hostess takes them to be seated, hostess never returns. Mom is 90+ years old, the 2nd hostess didn't acknowledge that, a woman that was working the door for a different event asked if mom wanted to sit while we waited. Very much appreciated. We get seated, after 15 minutes we order drinks and dinner. Drinks come, dinner arrived an hour + after we were seated. 2 orders of 1/2 rack of ribs, 1 with fries, another with asparagus. 3rd order was rack of ribs with fries. Got 2 orders with fries, rack came with no sides, had to request the asparagus and the fries, which of course were cold. Napkins were plunked in middle of table, silverware laid on top of them after another 15 minutes, would 30 seconds to properly place the silverware on top of napkins and place at each setting have hurt? One mistake they made is there was not a smooth transition from brunch to dinner. When we were seated the brunch menu was still on the bar. So several workers that should have been attending to dinner crowd were cleaning up from brunch. Have been here many times before for different functions, never has the experience been this poor. I set up my reservation with her and everything was good (so I thought). Arrived Saturday, no reservation, they had no idea. 3 girls asked the same questions. Finally got a table, we were from a distance meeting family. Service started out strong, drinks came out food order taken Appetizers came the same time with our food . Last week I stopped by to celebrate a friend's birthday and unfortunately I left hungry. While the view was breathtaking we were underwhelmed by the dining experience. The server remained enthusiastic as she attempted to service multiple large parties but it appeared that the kitchen was overwhelmed. The birthday girl ordered the Maryland "crab" Benedict. Unfortunately the crab was not pleasing to the eye and the eggs appeared to be hard boiled vs poached. Also there was nothing French about my toast. Love Coopers- truly great bands, adequate food and friendly staff. The inside room is spacious and has. a fun dance floor. However- every time we listen to superb bands like Seven Band , 80's Undercover my ears are bleeding. The indoor rooms acoustics are too loud (bizarre considering the usual age of the crowd) and over modulated. I don't know what system the sound person is using but same issue at Salty's in Belmar.
