Okay I really wanted to stay firm on 1-2 stars, but the staff/coaches and facility are exceptional. The coaches give great feedback during the sessions. Staff follow up from assessment with suggestions and helpful class suggestions. The coaches in EVERY session are ridiculously fantastic. The facility is magical, but the magic is nothing without the coaches. So thank you coaches. You all are amazing! The "good" classes were hard to get, but sometimes we get lucky with last minute cancellations. If your child loves soccer, you'll end up living there... it's an amazing space. Very disappointed with the lack of communication from the admin team. Their staff does not respond to emails or messages submitted through the "Contact Us" section of the website. After my child's class, I had a question and spoke with the front desk. I was told to contact Amanda, the senior manager. I emailed her and also submitted the same message through the website, but never received a response. I also tried calling during business hours, but she did not answer or return my call. I did come up again to front desk asking if she was even around. And staff said she was. The staff member still didn't call her and just addressed my question (for some reason this time they know the answer to my question). I was left wondering if it was even a correct answer as previously they referred me to senior manager. Unfortunately, this is not the first time I have tried to contact them and received no response. As a paying client, it feels disrespectful and unprofessional to be ignored when trying to ask a simple question. I hope management can improve communication and customer service from the admin staff. I know it's a large center. But we go other not much smaller centers and never experienced this. Our soccer experience has also been very mediocre so far. One of the reasons families sign their kids up for soccer is for the team spirit, consistency, and sense of belonging that comes from learning and playing with the same group. Instead, we have experienced constantly changing instructors and different groups of kids. You also do not see the instructor's name when scheduling, so there is very little consistency or transparency. Maybe the gameplay sessions are supposed to provide more of that team experience, but they seem almost impossible to book. I have been checking for availability for a few months in a row and have not been able to find any open spots. A staff member told me that you have to book at 9 a.m. on the 15th of the month. Sorry, but that is not the experience I was looking for when signing up. You pay for a membership, but then cannot actually get into the classes or sessions that are supposed to be included. After reading other reviews, I see that many people are mentioning the same issue. I really hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves both communication and class availability read more

Great coaches, fun classes. My son loves coming to COPA. Classes get booked up fast, so you have to be diligent as soon as the calendar opens up so you aren't left without any classes booked. It was SO well organized which made the games super fun for the kids and very easy as a mom to host an awesome party there. Somehow, the coach was able to capture and keep the attention of 12 nine and ten year old boys holding Nerf guns...seriously impressive. In October, we hosted our 6-year-old's birthday party at Copa Training Facility, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The entire staff was friendly, professional, and incredibly engaging with the kids. They organized fun, age-appropriate sports including football, soccer and other games that kept everyone active and entertained the entire time. The indoor turf field was clean, spacious, and perfectly suited for a group of energetic six-year-olds. The coach was fantastic and had as much energy as the kiddos. She even let the parents join for a dodgeball game vs. the kids, which was hilarious and so much fun! The facility itself was well-maintained, with plenty of room for parents to watch and enjoy the activities. The party room setup was efficient and convenient--we were able to bring in food and drinks, with ease, and the staff handled the transitions between playtime and party time flawlessly. They truly made the experience effortless for parents. The staff even reprinted his customized jersey during the party (there was a minor issue with it), which was above and beyond! Our guests were impressed, and most importantly, our birthday boy had the best time! He literally said it was "The BEST DAY EVER!" which made it all worth it. We couldn't have asked for a better venue for a fun, active, and well-organized celebration. Highly recommend COPA for anyone looking for a stress-free, memorable sports party. read more

The children practice areas are hostile towards patent observers. 2 large practice areas are closed off and have no parent observation area. Some practice areas have standing room only. The others areas have hard flat benches with no back support. The facility is massive and has about a hundred children practicing at any given time. Yet the seating areas are rarely more than half full of parents hunched over on the worst seating that money can buy. read more

We just hosted a 6 YO birthday party at COPA this past weekend. My son wanted a sports themed event in the heat of East Bay summer and I wasn't finding viable indoor sports venues that met our criteria. A friend suggested COPA as a possible venue and while researching, realized they have a very robust list of offerings! COPA checked off all the boxes for us: pricing, coordination, play options, timing, dedicated coach to lead the sports/play activities with our guests. The planning, coordination, and staffing for our event was super easy and timely. The day of everything was what we expected: Zabina was a welcoming person to check us all in and get us settled and Coach Max did a great job with our little team of athletes wearing them out before our time in the party room. Our guests were impressed with the venue, cleanliness, spaciousness and are considering COPA as a venue for future birthday parties. My only suggestion, if you're taking them, is to offer earlier times in the day for the 4-8 age range. We are excited to keep COPA as a strong option for future birthday parties!! read more

Review on our experience hosting a party at COPA. I do not recommend it. I called COPA to inquire about the party packages and was directed to the website to look at the packages. The website is elusive and I ended up choosing the "All Sports" package. I got an immediate response via email with requests for payment, which I immediately fulfilled. I was told I would receive a confirmation leading up to the date so they could have a final headcount. I also received an email with options to have things added to the package. The email said, "click here" but the web link didn't work. I called them several times, left voicemails and no one got back to me. I called the main line and the folks who answered noted they do not have any information on parties. I wanted to add a decoration package and couldn't get them to tell me what type of decorations and more specifically what it entailed. I once again called and emailed and finally got a call from someone by the name of Lyndsy, who apologized for their lack of follow through and provided me with her direct line. She was quite responsive to all of my questions. The day before the party, more questions came up as I still didn't have much information about supplies. Once again, I emailed and called - crickets! Eventually I spoke to someone from the front desk who said the event person (Deidra?)had received my message and would return my call. Fast forward to 1 hour before the party, I had no call so I went in person to ensure I didn't need any extra supplies and to see the decoration in person. I was told we didn't need supplies and the decorations are usually black so we can work with it in any way we want. So I panicked and went to Safeway (closest to COPA) and overspent on balloons and stuff to add to what I thought was black. My son was anted a football themed party so I got him every thing American football and when I am finally allowed to see the party room, 20 mins before the kids will be done with their "all sports," I see 'dollar store' paper clothes with soccer balls everywhere. My son was so disappointed. I would say shame on me for ordering a decoration package without knowing but my goodness I tried to get that answered for days! So let's now review the main and most disappointing part, I paid $500 for the all sports package and was provided with a coach who handed 20+ balls to the kids and had them play dodgeball for over 45 mins. At some point my husband inquired what would happen next as we innocently assumed "all sports" package entailed a variety of sports and games... so the coach who had a very passive role all along, suggested they play a soccer game and that is all folks! That's the all sports package. ‍ We all get moved to the party room and not a single staff person is in sight. We were on the upper level and in a more isolated part of the building so when we ran out of plates and napkins, that was not a single person to talk to. I had to rip the napkins in half to make it enough. The room was super silent so ask them if you can bring music because my goodness that felt like a dead party. I got a call from Lyndsy who apologized and was extremely polite and professional and waived the fee of the decoration, which by the way, was $100. Sigh *** I am indirectly embarrassed as that was such a lame party for my son. I feel like I need to make it up for him. So disappointing. read more

I hosted my son's 7th birthday here over the weekend for a 4pm event. I started the process beginning of January for a mid Feb party so I had plenty of time. The kids had a blast and really that's all that matters! I didn't know anyone else who had a party at COPA and what I saw recently on Yelp made me nervous. I was in constant communication with Lyndsy who was pretty responsive in providing the answers for all my questions. Planning and communicating with her was easy. This helped me pushed forward with the venue. Some comments. 1. They allowed me to drop off decorations and treats early in the day which helped me tremendously! Lyndsy noted we could drop off the day before too which I didn't do. 2. I didn't use their decoration I did my own soccer themed one. 15 min window to decorate and set up was a bit ridiculous but I overcame that by prepping everything in advance so that on the day off I just put everything on the table. 3. We used their utensils (didn't use), napkins, and plates. Be warned that you aren't given many but because our room was next to the reception it was easy enough to ask for more. 4. Our party room was so small for the 20 kids and their parents. I wish there were more space! A few parents had to step outside because of lack of space. It was almost embarrassing how crammed we were. We were downstairs again next to the reception. The room closest to the cube. 5. It's a total of 2 hours and we had 20 kids from 5-10 years old. I did the glow in the dark party and picked dodge ball, monster ball, and soccer. This was all played upstairs at the Powergoal room. The coaches were great and kids really did have fun. However, it would have been great if they had more control of the kids/direction. (i) dodgeball - if kids got hit were they out? It was not clear and the kids later told me they were confused. It didn't make it less fun though. (ii) Monsterball - maybe they need a mic or something to give kids direction because it felt like madness. Still overall fun, no kids complained. ( iii) soccer - my kids are so into soccer so it was not well thought out that they only played for like 5 mins, if that. Total bummer. 6. Now I knew going in that the whole party is 2 hours that was clear but maybe don't advertise 3 games when it's not. It's more a comfortable 2. The party room time felt very rushed. We could have added an additional hour for another $100 which would also add the glow in the dark option for the party room but opted not to because it was already so late. Overall the kids had a blast. It was enjoyable and I would do it again! Our group of kiddos enjoyed it! read more

EDIT- I walked late to copa around 4pm. Was convinced to sign up so I could attend a required zoom that night. Next morning, I wake up to an email announcing a membership sale that yes would take effect in a few days. Literally hours after I signed up. Funny enough, got an email today "extending the sale." Based on other reviews, the inflexibility and customer care seems to be an issue. Again, been at COPA for years, I like it for the little ones. But come on, you 100% can do better. This is only for the back office. I signed up for a membership hours before they announced a Memorial Day sale. They refused to give me the promotion though I signed up the night before. If I canceled, they still would not waive initiation. I have multiple kids and very involved in the surf and futsol community, and have been at copa for years (one of the founding members when my older son was young) The classes are good for the young age range but I would be very very weary of signing up here if you want any flexibility at all (as many families need these days!) The whole interaction left a really bad taste in my mouth. read more

Some of the folks working at front desk are also very slow to help or don't know how to - things like multiple folks working but customers waiting on checkin or questions. Had a meeting scheduled to discuss a membership for our son. Waited 20 minutes past our meeting time on a busy weeknight and decided to leave. I guess the girl working up front never told the person we were meeting that we were there even though we made eye contact with her multiple times. I was willing to look past the factory/herd atmosphere to get some training for my kid but that experience pretty much reinforced my vibe on the place. read more

Pros: Most of the instructors are good. Don't expect your kid to suddenly become a soccer star after doing COPA. They are good for repetitions if you can get the classes which is a big challenge. Cons: Many 1. If you are driving from other places not close to walnut creek then you want to make the drive worth it by booking 3-4 classes back to back. That is a huge challenge!!!!!! Their scheduling system is ridiculous to say the least. 2. They make their own policies as they go and don't really care. Their motto is how much money can i bring then quality. For example, in open house they hype about Cube first and make it seem like you get the class but most of the cases you don't get the cube. They won't even tell you which classes are assigned to cube before release. I was told by front desk person, its based on my "luck". 3. Schedule release is 15th of current month for the following month. So if you want to book classes from April 1st, you need to be ready at 9AM on March 15th to book 2 classes per week. That is the restriction for 48hrs. Most of the time in last few months at least, scheduling page opens up at 9:10AM. So they expect parents to leave everything and focus on this. They have day jobs!. After 2 days from the 15th, they open to book as many as you want. But if you missed again at 9AM, you can't get the classes. Its like fastest finger first. Solution: Keep these scheduling on the weekend where parents don't have to pick between working and picking class for their 9yr old. 4. PDF file of schedule was always released before the 15th of the month and even says in their website. When contacted, they indicated it will be released on 15th only. Contradict what they say on website. From COPA stc website: "The PDF copies of the calendar on this page are a great resource for families building schedules for multiple athletes at once. They're especially helpful for planning and preparing your bookings in advance of the schedule release, making the process more efficient. You can also find printed copies of these calendars available at the front desk for added convenience" PDF calendar was always provided week or so before release on 15th of month. Either they changed the policy now and didn't update customers and or website or their staff doesn't know the policy or what's on website. Either way, it does not help the parents/customer with no way to understand what classes are being offered until they leave everything and wait for 9AM on 15th of every month to plan. 5. Class scheduling itself is so ridiculous. The classes are overlapped by 10-15 mins easily every time making it challenging to book back to back classes even if you are "lucky" to get a class. 6. Classes during summer starts at 3:30pm and not like it starts in the morning. Sat and Sunday classes are from 8:30AM to 12:45pm. Not until 8pm. Keep Saturday and Sunday entire day to allow flexibility. 7. Front desk is a hit or miss. You have to be lucky to get a good answer and sometimes you won't be lucky. read more

We love the training curriculum and coaches here. I have three kids that have been going here for 1.5+ years. We've seen improvements in all of them in their technical soccer skills and physical skills. A few of our favorite coaches are Eli, Toye, and Gus. Coach Gus has helped improved my son's speed and agility. Coaches Toye and Eli both have helped on their soccer skills side. All the coaches provide timely feedback in each session and my kids love that. Thank you coaches and COPA. We also participated in the Winter Futsal league last year for my youngest son's team and his team loved it. We'll be doing it again this year. read more

Not one to write negative reviews. Facility is great, however, they severely lack in accountability and player safety. Had a match in the Tuesday adult men's league that was poorly refereed resulting in the game to quickly get out of hand. Opponents were playing dirty from the jump (shoving, elbowing, wrapping their feet around my ankles trying to sprain it, kicking the ball away during free kicks, and worst of all playing victim if a call doesn't go their way). Ultimately this resulted in me fracturing my wrist. Injuries happen in sport, I understand that where I draw the line is when there are incompetent people/policies to protect players especially when there are old washed up guys trying to hurt people. This also isn't the first time that a game has gotten out of hand. read more

This post is long overdue -- we started in Copa in 2022 when our son was 18 months. We tried soccer with the city rec and it was too overwhelming for our toddler, but at COPA he was SO excited and happy and looked forward to soccer every week. We've had several coaches over the years so I can't name and thank them all but Coach Amanda (obviously!), Coach Max, Jojo, Dylan. All the coaches are SO PATIENT with the kids. Especially when we were in the 2-3 yr old class, I mean, I couldn't do what they did. The after school energy of 10+ 2 year olds.... ya'll deserve an award. With the 18 month - 2 yr old class, I do think they could break this up a bit because once we got towards the 2 yrs, my son was extremely board with the same exercises.. I love the skills that he built in the 2-3 in terms of small kicks, balance, speed, etc. 3-4 was a good challenge too learning more complex skills, and finally at the 4 yr old class he's REALLY enjoying the challenges and I can see him develop as a player. We are relocating soon and I am SO sad to be leaving COPA. I've researched through and through and there is NO other facility like it (in SoCal... COPA can you please expand???) We've signed our son up for club soccer in the upcoming fall, so VERY curious to see how all the skills he's mastered at COPA will translate. read more

Amazing place! We have both of our boys signed up. There's specific classes and trainings as well as scrimage. The coaches are attentive and teach the kids the necessary skills. It's fun and builds confidence in out children. You can sign up for as many classes as you want all for one monthly fee. They also have "parents nights out" where you can drop off your kids for the evenings for some fun activities and go out for dinner. read more

We had our son's birthday party here. They were easy and prompt with communication prior to the party date. Check in was easy for our guests, and the boys had fun playing the coached games, but the time in the party room is much too long for a kids party. Once your turf time is over you have to contain rowdy kids for an entire hour in a room, the party next to us had only one adult and the kids were out of control, they kept opening the door and throwing food into our party, our boys thankfully were easier to control but were also so bored and hyped from playing. I wish they would give more time playing on the turf or at least give an option to go back out to the turf after food to play till end of party time. read more

I used to love COPA... The service and training was always great, and I was a loyal customer for 10 months. Unfortunately, after a recent experience, I can confidently say I will never be returning. The quality of service has drastically declined, and the way my issue was handled left me frustrated and disappointed. It's incredibly disappointing when a place you once trusted and enjoyed visits such a low point. I had hoped for a resolution, but instead, it felt like my concerns were ignored. I tried to cancel my membership due to lack of availability of Training and gameplays, and instead of making it easy, they gave me nothing but hassle. The process was unnecessarily complicated, and I had to jump through multiple hoops just to get my cancellation request through. To make matters worse, they continued to charge my card even after I thought the issue was resolved, and I never gave my consent for any further payments. It's extremely frustrating to deal with a company that clearly doesn't respect its customers or their rights. I would strongly advise anyone considering this place to think twice before signing up long-term, as their customer service is awful and they will try to squeeze as much money out of you as they can, even when you're trying to leave. If you plan on trying out Soccer training for your child do the month to month. read more

I like the diversity of activities that my child can enjoy. It includes both soccer related and general sessions that help a kid to develop in a balanced way. Interactive sessions are loved my modern kids and make them happy and really engage involvement and motivate the participants. The coaches are all professional and friendly and my child really enjoys spending time with them. Their trainers are excellent but some are very rude Customer service is arrogant and the worst thing is that they lack problem solving knowledge. Their membership is not clear and transparent. The only objective of the managers is to collect as much money as possible from the parents. I hope that the visionary Mark Hall (owner of Copa Soccer) appreciates these comments that will surely help in his investment of thousands of dollars in this sports center and in agreements with the city of Walnut Creek, CA Forget to bring your sons here.... We happily left after our 6 month commitment ended for the reasons below. I only have 2 positives, which are the amazing teachers, and the flexible booking. The teachers give a lot of energy and positivity, and we never had a problem with any of them. The booking is easy to understand, for the most part -- easy to book and to cancel. There are a lot of scheduling options as well. They try hard to make the times work for people. My negatives: The traffic is bad. If you're not within a 3 mile radius, it takes way too long to travel up Ignacio in the afternoons. They don't offer enough classes to schedule 2 in a row for 2 kids at different levels. That would have made it more worth it. Coed is tough. Boys are more advanced in their other private leagues, and play at a different level than girls of the same age. We found we needed to "downgrade" our 2 girls from their normal age groups. Playing with more advanced players is fine, except not with kids who just take the ball, use their elbows, don't pass, and score easily. My girls were often the only girl, or 1 of 2, in their class. Part of the issue is that Copa doesn't kick excellent players out of beginner classes. Perhaps the schedule works better for the parents, but I've seen many non-beginner players in foundational classes. I favor skills based class assignments, not age based. The players should test out of each level, much like swimming and gymnastics, so they can no longer book lower level classes. The prices should all be the same, so it wouldn't matter. There are major issues with their overall business setup. Commitment lengths all at different prices are annoying and ill received. Also, if your player ages up during the commitment contract, you need to upgrade, and sign an entirely new contract at the higher price (older kid) in order to have access to the older classes. However, if you want to remain in the lower age class (the original cost and level of the original commitment), because you feel your kid is at a good level there, and you want to finish your original contract, you have to call and book each class, as the online system "can't handle it" and kicks you out of the lower age classes as well. Essentially, you are suddenly kicked out of the lower age, and also kicked out of the higher age, until you pay a new contract. I understand the price differences because of the time differences of different aged classes, but couldn't we just pay extra to make up the difference, instead of signing a whole new contract? On another topic, the need for a doctor's note to get reimbursed the no show fee of $20 is an insult to parents (we're just trying our best!), and a waste of doctors' time. If the kid is sick, let them miss class for free. If someone is abusing the system by scheduling 30 classes and missing over half of them, then kick that member out of Copa. The bottom line is it all just costs too much. The basic membership doesn't give free access to anything except the basic classes. The more expensive membership is just too expensive. All the cool technology they have is limited to the higher paying players. If you go only once a week, it'll never be worth it. Twice a week is even questionable. Man, would they boost membership if it included the fancy technology, and kept a reasonable price. Forget the different membership levels, forget the different commitment lengths. Make parents feel wanted instead of squeezed. Let them pay month to month (not even a current option!) to see if they like it, then offer a discount for a 6mo payment upfront. Sorry Copa, we won't be back for the classes. We're maybe still willing to try the league because it's not co-ed and they seem desperate for female players, and sometimes offer discounts. Seems like everyone I've talked to is or was annoyed with them at some point though. Oh well! read more

The COPA facility and team have been great at motivating, developing, and improving my kids' athletic and soccer skills and everyone on the management and front desk team are so kind and helpful! The coaches (Amanda, Gus, Kiqe, Mark, Ryan, and others) are all highly-skilled and personable so my kids are always excited to go to class! We hosted a Nerf party for 20 kids. They had 8 pairs of safety glasses for the 20 kids to share, and when we asked for more, they said they didn't have enough but not to worry as "most kids take them off anyways." Many of the Nerf blasters did not work, and the coaches wasted the first 20 minutes of the party trying to get themselves organized. The kids had a great time running around, but it was totally disorganized. We had to go to the front desk and get the manager to go tell the coaches to start the games. We have hosted parties for our children at Rock n' Jump, Encore, Pump it Up and at our local community center. COPA was by far the most expensive and most unprofessional and poorly run. read more

COPA includes great technology and has many different levels of soccer that kids can fit into. One coach in particular has given my daughters a great experience. Coach Christine. She explains tactics in a very detailed way and shows the movements as well. Coach Christine also is very funny and skilled in soccer. We've been at COPA with my 4 year old for just about two years. We've really enjoyed it and recently they have added many more options to focus on specific skills. It's a tough age group so some days and coaches are better than others, but overall I have only positive things to say. The facility is great! However, at this time there... 1. membership model is confusing and not transparent, 2. customer service is lackluster, you have to chase people to respond, and 3. class availability is challenging. Copa management appears to be more interested in charging parents exorbitant rates than taking accountability for issues with their new pricing model, failure to provide good service, and being responsive. I would HIGHLY advise you to reconsider enrolling in Copa. There are other great services for kids to experience soccer. read more
