The peach cobbler was also a hit with the right amount of consistency and sweentess. The beignets were a pleasant surprise because we had never tried them with honey and after trying it that way, we could be down with it. On the other hand, the shrimp with grits had extremely plain grits and extremely salty shrimp, and mixing them altogether definitely made the dish tasted more balanced but it didn't change the fact that the shrimp was still salty and the grits didn't catch too much of the salt on the shrimp. The fried okra had soggy outer shell. The gumbo was a bit watery and didn't have enough roux, and the rice included was soggy which seemed like it was out for a while and heated up. Aside from food, it was worth noting that we were initially placed on the list and were told that we'd receive a text upon a table ready, and unfortunately we never received one, despite seeing people that came in later getting tables. After we went back inside 30 minutes later to see what happened, they didn't give us an explanation, but managed to get us the next table. This anecdote made us confused when we first sat down, but we decided to no longer worry about what happened and was in a mood ready to dine.

Drinks Disaster I ordered "The Blacker the Berry" cocktail. I saw photos on Yelp--it's supposed to be dark with a lemon and blackberry. The drink I got was light, no garnish. Another couple came after us and received the correct version immediately. Only after I complained did another server fix it with a lemon--but still the wrong color. Food & Service Failures * It took over 30 minutes just to place our food order because our server disappeared. * Food finally arrived after 20 more minutes--cold, except the shrimp. * Guests who arrived 20-40 minutes after us got their meals before we did. * When asked by the server how everything was I mentioned the above. She asked if I wanted the manager. I said no--I was over it--but she brought him anyway. When he came over, I flatly told him, "No, we're good, thanks." He asked again, and I repeated, "NO, WE ARE GOOD, THANKS." That was the moment that pushed me from frustrated to downright pissed off. Other Problems * Water leaking from the ceiling at the entrance. * Food was bland and ridiculously overpriced. * Automatic 10% gratuity added without our server even mentioning it--I only overheard another table's checkout. * Final bill: $113 for one of the worst meals of my life. The Bottom Line This restaurant completely ruined what was supposed to be a special first-night birthday dinner for my fiancée. I have never left a restaurant so annoyed, upset, and frustrated. Items were familiar but with unique twists. We were in heaven with the sweet potato cornbread. Appetizer but definitely shareable by 4. If you eat mostly plant based like me not a ton of options but good seafood options for the pescatarians out there. A little disappoint that the bang bang shrimp came with just 4 shrimp for $14. Presentation wonderful though, fresh and delicious. Shrimp and grits delicious. The dessert options are not your typical options. We decided on the peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream. Phenomenal. I'm not even a vanilla ice cream person and even it was delicious! What I love about Flavor Hills is that you will always find items on their menu that you're not going to get everywhere.
