I went here early on a Saturday so I could sit and enjoy a coffee while reading. The inside is nice, quaint, and dimly lit. The staff were so sweet. I told them it was my first time so they reviewed sizing with me and let me know how many shots were in each size. I note this because I don't recall any other shop doing this. It was helpful for me. I got a hot breve cardamom pumpkin latte and it was perfect! It wasn't too hot so I could drink it comfortably. It also wasn't too sweet and you could actually taste the cardamom. A lot of drinks I've had with cardamom, you can't really taste it. It was quiet and there was a steady stream of customers coming in and out. I was able to sit for about an hour and enjoy my book. I'd come back because product, service, and vibes were just right.

Stopped in on a rainy morning and it inside was the perfect, cozy vibe to go along with my fall drink. The espresso is high quality and the menu options are tasteful and not overly sweet. A new favorite coffeehouse of mine!

    The ambiance 10/10

Oh my goodness, If I could give 10 stars I would, this place is beautiful and lowkey and the workers are so sweet and welcoming in the short 2 minutes I was in there waiting inside for my coffee I felt nothing but comfortable. They asked all the right questions as Im not a coffee drinker unless its sweeter but this coffee and the flavor profile is wonderful, not burnt coffee like how im used to lol! Wonderful experience thank you to the Esso workers who helped me this morning! Have a blessed day

I was at a bakery around the building and needed coffee to go with it. Esso is a super cute small spot for a pick me up. The spot was clean and cozy and the employees were super friendly. I went with an oat milk pistachio latte and it was great! Great roast and not bitter or watered down. Would definitely stop in again!

12 oz. Hot Flavored Latte w/ Oat Milk, 1/4 Sweet Housemade Cardamom Brown Sugar Syrup, & Vanilla in private parking lot

Don't you love it when you find that magical little gem of a spot? This cafe @essocoffeehouse located in The Strip on Highland & 12th in Phoenix, right next door to Original Gravity, feels so warm and tasteful, cocooned in a shaded concrete patio that feels protected from the harsh spring and summer heat. I could sit in here and relax everyday. There is art covering the walls by local artist, all for sale. The deep jewel tones and metallics with greenery and comfortable seating of the cafe interior draw me in. Not to mention the absolute show stopper - the antique espresso machine setup. Today I ordered an afternoon latte to go: 12 oz. Hot Oat Flavored Latte with 1/4 sweet Housemade Cardamom Brown Sugar Syrup and Vanilla The barista was so friendly and made suggestions about syrup pairings when I was trying to decide. There's also a restroom inside.

I've been to this coffee shop a handful of times and I've enjoyed every visit. The staff is friendly, coffee is delicious and the seating areas are inviting. It was cold this morning and I needed something different and hot.. I ordered the tiramisu latte - dark chocolate, almond syrup with almond milk.. it's like a rich dessert but not overly sweet. The dirty apple cider chai from their seasonal menu is also delicious. They have pan dulce (Mexican pastries) to go with your coffee drink. Plenty of seating areas inside and patio, tables for catching up on work and a couch to lounge. They also host free weekend events (check their website for details). Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

First time here, randomly popped in. Cute, small, quaint. Ordered a small mocha latte with almond milk and extra foam. Man, you can really taste the espresso, really nice. It wasn't busy on a later mon am, almost wanted to stay but had things to do. I'll be back, interesting strip mall also. Good job to the owner, nice work!

What a fantastic spot for coffee, a place to hang out or study! The vibe is chill I ordered the salted butterscotch iced latte and it is so tasty and delicious. I highly recommend this drink from their fall menu.

Cold Brew brown sugar cardamom latte

heard this place has great cold brew, wanted to check out. small, cute space. little shaded, outdoor seating. ambient lighting, a great space to read a book. folky, easy going music. a good spot to have a relaxed start to your day. apparently you can buy a growler of their cold brew. up to a gallon! yum. random pastries, no food. cold brew: smooth, chocolately. great ice to coffee ratio. homemade brown sugar/cardamom latte: aromatic not much flavor. i like it. overall is well air conditioned, relaxing, good cold brew. great first date spot. nicole says 3.5 due to minimal seating. bernabe says 4, super cozy.

    Nicole A.

I really enjoyed this place. It's cute and shady (which i appreciate because I could still hang out outside without getting sun burnt). The menu selection is very basic which I appreciated because sometimes cafes tend to get too complicated. Overall it's a great place to study/work and the service was quite fast. The workers are friendly and polite and willing to answer any questions. They have wifi too!!

Esso is located in an incredibly cool commercial building. The interior of the building had a unique look, it had a mid century feel and featured local artists. The baristas were excellent. I kept it simple and ordered a drip. I found the coffee be decent. It wasn't as hot as I typically like it and the blend was noticeably soft. The small felt smaller than your average small. European style, but Free refills for drip for the win.

    Andrea H.

First time here and if I lived closer, would be a regular stop. Barista was new and wonderful. In house brewed delicious americano and best part was that the oat milk was FREE! Cool little spot for chit chat or a good book. Outdoor seating too and a small selection of pastries. Def worth a stop.

Had a great cortado this morning. Impressed they're attempting swan latte art on cortados. Nice. Was delicious.

Afterwards I hopped into Macys nearby to be inside the AC and could check the map for "cold drinks" near me. This spot popped up just around the corner. I give it a 4 stars. I drink a lot of coffee drinks from various coffee shops, and for comparison this wasn't amazing but good enough. It hit my requirements- nearby, COLD, slightly sweet, decent coffee flavor. The drink description says "vanilla cold foam" and this was not cold foam. I saw that it was steamed milk and turned to foam. Pretty much the opposite of cold foam. If they made their own cold foam this would have made the drink more unique. Could have been 5 stars if as described. Anyway, service was friendly and the small shop is cute. Gave me the hit of cold caffeine I was looking for.

Turns out, they use the xBloom for the most consistency in their pourovers. I don't mind that at all. I think it's the first time I've tried an xBloom, and it was pretty darn good.
