I have been here several times, and each time (lunch, dinner) it's basically the same. You are seated, you wait forever for your food if you get more than an app (busy or not), but the food is tasty and the redesign of the space is nice. I think this place would benefit from a handful of things. When you walk in, your standing space is tight to the coffee bar and hostess stand. If more than 2 people are waiting to be seated it is an awkward space to wait. The menus seem like they could be dealt with better. The wait staff seem to fumble around with the regular menu and the make your own salad menus and whatever else they are bringing to the table to seat you. Speaking of wait staff, there were so many people working one afternoon for no apparent reason... maybe it was for training, but it was, like, one wait person per 2 tables + several bar staff. The wait staff is very nice, but when seated in the small upstairs area, not as attentive to you when it's busy. Also, if people come for a meal (so maybe consider this for dinners more than breakfast/lunch) and you have to wait 30+ minutes to get an entre, give us a small snack to tide us over like a few pieces of bread and olive oil or something small so we're not just sitting and fixating on the food taking so long. Also, each time I've come, there has been something not available on the menu (usually the thing I or my husband wanted to eat). Not such a big deal, but the wait staff should know what is unavailable and tell you that upfront so you don't wait to find out when you're ordering and then have to reread the menu to pick something else. Hangry is a thing, and waiting longer to eat kind of sucks when that's all you want to do. The food is fairly tasty, but depending on what you get it can be underseasoned or not fully cooked (had some slightly raw potatoes with a filet mignon meal). Apps seemed to come out faster than meals, but again, if you don't get an app you are left waiting and hungry. Also, your outside sign is nearly impossible to read. It mostly looks like a rusty rectangle. I can't say I've written this place off completely just yet, but I can't say I'm rushing to go back any time soon. My wife and I dined here on Sat, 13th of May 4:30 pm. We split the (forgive me can't remember exactly the title) Chicken covered with cheese, garlic potatoes on the side with wilted spinache. Also split the shrimp gumbo and a Caesars' salad with tapenade. The waitress was very efficient and friendly. She pre split the entree and the salad, on separate plates, very nice. I had a lemonade which was fresh squeezed, delicious. She had a Pinot. We finished with excellent coffee and the sour cream coffee cake. Generous portions, tasty food, great service and atmosphere. Everything was perfect and the prices were great. This is our third time here and they are consistent. Support this restaurant, they know how to do it right! read more

This place has recently upset me and my family. First things first, I don't know if they changed their recipes, or chef, but the food tastes different. My niece and son would get the Mac and cheese with fries and it used to taste wonderful, until we went back for my nieces birthday and the Mac and cheese and fries were absolutely disgusting. There was oil coming off of the Mac and cheese and the cheese itself was clumpy. Also, the fries were stale, hard, and had no flavor. We used to love copperbarn but I don't think we will be coming back anytime soon. read more

This place is wonderful! The building is really nice. The service was very good, everyone was friendly. I loved the selection of beers on tap, lots of local stuff, but not the same local brews everyone has. I went with the fish tacos which were delicious, well-priced, and well-portioned. I have been to this place few times for most part. Last time was during brunch and i had ordered a broccoli quiche from their specials. It was very delicious. Portion size is small but its just right, appropriate for a brunch. I do recall most of my orders were all straight off their specials! But don't be misguided, their everyday menu items are just as good as their specials. Eggplant lasagna was quite good. Place halso has coffee and local draft beer as well. Service was absolutely terrible. I understand there is a shortage in the workforce however waiting almost 1 1/2 hours for food was absolutely ridiculous. Families that came in after us were served long before us. We never received bread for the table. Our waters and drinks were empty we had to chase the waitress down to ask for refills. The kids meals came out 1st and even that was a long wait but the kids were served and done eating long before our entrées served. Then the kids wanted dessert chocolate chip cookie sandwiches. No cookies available. So they settle for a scoop of ice cream which was the tiniest bit of ice cream and a cup full of whipped cream. Needless to say we will not be back. read more

Brunch time: Nice clean hipster place with locals coffee beans, food was good but they need to pay more attention to bring fresh plates, my brioche french toast the bananas slices inside were harder than the walnuts that came with it they looked like the plate was made in the morning put in the fridge and put back in the oven at brunch time when I ordered it, they have awesome coffee set up but their cappuccino was more than 150*f (overheated) destroying the coffee aromas; Cool thing they have artisan sparkling bottle water. read more

Really good food. The atmosphere is like scotchtown craft but more of a restaurant. Very good selection of local craft beer and wine.The surf and turf burger was amazing. The smoked salmon sandwich was expectionally good and is served all day. The chick pea salad is something I could eat all day, very well done. The kids menu is nothing crazy, made for picky kids, but the burgers are very well made just like adults. Overall this is definitely a repeat eater place. I will be going again. I've been here twice. First for coffee and dessert. The coffee choices are great and the cappuccino in particular was delicious. Lemon cake was yummy. Not all desserts are made in house but there is a nice selection. The second visit was for dinner. We tried the hummus platter - very fresh and tasty. I had the tuna with cabbage and wasabi. Tuna cooked perfectly. My husband had fettuccine which was very creamy and filled with large shrimp. He really liked it. House salad is fresh. The service is very attentive and friendly. However, my favorite aspect of this restaurant is the healthy options. Very difficult to find vegetarian and healthy choices along with more traditional food in this area. Love this place!! I've been here a couple times now, every time I've tried something new and it's been so delicious. Their menu isn't huge, but everything so really fresh and really tasty. Highly recommend the chick pea salad. They have a barista who can make speciality coffees/teas but it's not the kinda spot you can walk in grab a coffee/tea and go (at least in my opinion). I've been looking at this restaurant for the past few weeks and saying, "I need to check that place out." I'm glad I did. It wasn't the perfect experience, but they are still new, so I'm reserving final judgement until I can visit once or twice more. As for this outing, here's some highlights and low-lights. I checked out the menu online before my visit and was very excited to have the Eggplant Parmesan Lasagna. After a long wait, the server came over to take our order. When I asked for the lasagna, she told me they where out of it. In addition, my dinner date's choice, the Cheddar Baked Chicken, was also sold out. We were disappointed. We ended up getting the burger and a steak panini, both with fries. They were both cooked as we asked, and came as we ordered. It wasn't exceptionally great, but it was tasty. Our server, though slow, was kind and attentive. One suggestion I would make to management is to make sure the servers tell diners what is sold out, up front, to avoid potential disappointment. Also, I recommend that The Copper Barn offer some kind of complimentary appetizer when people first arrive. Bread. Chips. Something to snack on while people wait for service. One last suggestion for the owners would be to rework their main sign. It's barely legible from the street, and when it gets dark, it's all but invisible. The lettering needs to be distinct of the background. All in all, it was a good visit. I am going to come back again and reevaluate my review then. Some more highlights and low-lights from both visits. My second visit was a weeknight. Tuesday, I believe. We were greeted and seated immediately, but again, service was slow after that. The food took even longer to come out to us than our first visit. I was thwarted a second time in my attempt to get the Eggplant Lasagna. They were sold out (and they didn't tell us that up front, so we had to 're-order' again). And again, we did not get any sort of pre-meal offering (bread, hummus, chips, etc.). The food was the same, however: not anything I couldn't make for myself at home, but enjoyable all the same. My third visit was at two or so in the afternoon. There was a sufficient amount of choices on their lunch menu and several items looked good. I had the Eggplant Ciabatta and shared an order of the Pulled Pork Sliders with my date. The Sliders were very good, however, they seemed a bit pricey for what was on the plate (three for twelve dollars). The Eggplant was just okay. I was hoping the eggplant would be crisp but it was a bit soggy (which may have been from the pesto on it). Juxtaposed to that was the overly toasted bun. Toasted to the point that it shattered into crusty shards when I bit into it. It did come out fast this time, though. Overall, my star count stays the same. If I could give half stars, I would rate The Copper Barn at three and a half. Get there earlier in the evening so you have a better chance of them having everything on the menu. The parking lot was full but there was plenty of seating inside and out. Dinner was fantastic, the menu is very good and there is a large craft beer selection. We went again last night, serving size and pricing were much improved. The wait staff is very sweet and accommodating as they could be . We came with a group.of 5 (our book club). I called asking for a reservation in the morning but was told they do not do reservations. I find this difficult as we need a quieter spot.to talk. We were placed in a somewhat noisy spot. I was there today with 4 friends and I have to say the service was lousy. To begin with the place was just about empty (it was 3:15) and we had to wait 15 minutes for anyone to wait on us. I watched our waitress counting money and going over receipts from the cash register while we waited. Then after I went to the bar to see about getting something to drink, she finally stopped counting and came over. We asked what the soup of the day was and were told they had none - just the 2 listed soups. We then asked about the quiche of the day and were told what it was and 3 of us ordered it. We had to wait another several minutes to get our drinks. I ordered coffee and ice water. She brought all the drinks except for the water. I asked her again and she left. Another 10 minutes goes by without my water. I went to the bar to ask for a glass and started to pour my own water but she stopped me and finally brought me the water. By the way, the coffee was terrible and tasted like it had sat on a burner for hours. Had to send it back and get iced tea. Next, our waitress comes out to inform us that they were out of quiche. This was now 15 minutes after ordering. So back to the menus to find something else. By now we had already been there for 40 minutes. We reordered and then sat there for another 15 minutes for our food. Just as we were putting on our coats to leave the food miraculously appeared. None of us was thrilled with our food. Perhaps it would have tasted better if we hadn't had such terrible service. Since we had bypassed other more familiar and reliable restaurants to go to the Copperbarn, we realized we had made a big mistake. I'm writing this so you don't make the same mistake. read more

Had high hopes based on reviews, but was disappointed. Nice ambiance. But, despite a near empty dining room, was seated next to a very loud baby shower. Server was not very attentive. My sandwich sounded great based on menu description (ham and brie panini with green apple and honey mustard). But was bland and lacked texture (was expecting some apple crunch, some creamy brie, some salty ham, some sweet from the honey mustard). My partner in crime ordered the pulled chicken burritos. Bizarrely, they appeared to be topped with marinara rather than salsa. The iced coffee was very good. Will not be returning. read more
