It was kind of like a Mediterranean version of lasagna, except the taste was too sweet for my liking. House combo (kabob plate) This was probably the best dish because it had a variety of kabobs and is what we normally have at Mediterranean places. I would recommend if you want to try a little bit of everything. This area of Sierra Madre has easy parking. Don't let the patio and front dining area fool you, there's additional dining space in the back. read more

Luckily, there was a staffer outside cleaning and asked her if they were still open. The staffer went inside and in a second or two she came out and told us that it is still open. YAY! Best way to find is GPS this location (T-Neer) 142 W Sierra Madre Blvd. Sierra Madre, CA 91024, which will lead you to the general area. Ambiance/Decor: Very calming. Basically a mom and pop greek/mediterranean restaurant with modern furnishings. They have outside seatings also. Service: Started out rocky, but our server made the eating experience worthwhile. Emily (staffer) was very friendly and attentive. She explained to us our questions and concerns. Water cups were never empty last night. I was worried that our food was going to take a long time from reading some of the reviews, but the food came out rather quickly. I would say all three of our apps came out 10-15 minutes. Food: We order three apps which included free pita bread. 1) The pita bread was a bit hard and burnt. Later I found out that you can request the pita bread to be either not cooked, lightly crispy, or heavily crispy. By default, it's usually heavily crispy. Not fun to eat burnt pita bread. 2) The hummus was the main attraction. Loved every single spoonful that I had. 3) The Kopta (Spheres of ground beef and cracked wheat, stuffed with minced beef, onion, and pine nuts) I thought the kopta was fairly decent. The beef was well seasoned, but did not look like spheres. It looked more like footballs. Great way to toss the football around during dinner I suppose. Kidding aside... The best way to eat them is cut them in half and put a layer of hummus on top and then proceed to NOM away! 4) The Spanakopita (Spinach Boreg.... Spinach and cheese wrapped in phyllo pastry) didn't really like it. The top layer was beyond browned. Not pleasant eating burnt pastry... Instead of eating it, I ate th spinach and cheese part. We, a party of 3 went here on Sunday afternoon for an early dinner. Typical Greek and Mediterranean dishes, nothing too special but every dish was well prepared and tasty. I have watched this place grow and change over the years and I have eaten here at every incarnation. It is consistently A OK. Never great... but never disappointing. During its present incarnation, Corfu offers an American style breakfast in the morning followed by a decent middle eastern lunch special and then a full blown Lebanese/Greek dinner menu. On weekends there is an all you can eat brunch buffet... consisting of most of the dishes one would order anyway. The food itself consists usually of a yellow Armenian rice along with a Mediterranean salad and a kabob or two. Chicken Kabobs are often dry... but not these. In fact, what I just described is my favorite lunch special. On and out the door, tip included for under $10 a head. They also have dips like hummus, plus lamb, other Greek/Armenian dishes, and bakalava. For those who want American fare, they have that too. The dining room is small with all wood chairs and tables. But there is a lovely street cafe section right in front. Service is friendly and the portions are large. read more

Cute little restaurant with about 10-15 tables in the front and more in the back. It was pretty slow when we came in for dinner. Ordered hummus, gyro plate, and shawarma plate. It took a while for the food to come out, but the service was friendly. The cook even came out to ask if the food was good. The gyro plate with the Greek salad was good, except the gyro had too much onions. The Greek salad was delicious. The shawarma plate tasted more like a flat steak cooked on a pan instead of the usual shawarma cooked on a spit. The meat was juicy and seasoned well. We actually ended up ordering a plate to take home as well. Friendly service and good food. They just have to work on getting the food out a little faster. read more

Came by here last Saturday night with my husband for an early dinner at 6 pm. When we walked inside, the place was empty and it was much smaller than we thought it would be, but later on found out that there is an additional dining room in the back. Anyways, we were greeted by a woman, whom we believe is either the manager or the owner. She gave us our menus and seated us by the window. This is what we ordered: Chicken with Pesto: The portion sizes of this dish was more than enough for 1 person. The chicken was quite moist and it went well with the pesto and cheese. I liked the pesto sauce. This dish came with pasta instead of rice and I thought the pasta was just average. This dish came with a salad, which I asked for the dressing to be placed on the side. I would have preferred this salad to be made with the dark green leafys instead of the iceberg lettuce though. Souvlaki: (beef kabob) Very moist and flavorful meat. Loved the tender, soft rice. Portion for this plate was also perfect for more than 1 person (yay for leftovers for lunch tomorrow right?). Armenian Coffee: Nice and strong, just how my husband loves it. I am not a coffee person, so I did not have any. But my husband enjoyed it and said it taste as good at other places where he has had Armenian coffee. Our meals also came with pita bread cut into pieces, hummus, tabbouleh (actually it came with the souvlaki dish) and a dip for the pita bread (wasn't 100% sure of what was in it, but oil... most likely olive oil, and dried thyme). The pita bread was served nice and hot/ warm. The hummus was very tasty and creamy. The tabbouleh was perfect. I have had tabbouleh at other restaurants and they would overdo the lemon juice, which kills the flavor of the tabbouleh and all you can pretty much taste is the lemon juice (yuck). I liked the oil dip that came with the pita as well. Service was very prompt and friendly. Our server was very attentive in removing dirty plates, refilling our pita and drinks and checking in on us. The manager/ owner was very friendly and we had a few conversations with her while we were there. Overall, I would come back here to dine again. The price is pretty reasonable for the portions that you get and service. By the way, there is parking on the street, which shouldn't be a problem. There is outdoor seating with heat lamps in case you want to dine with your 4 legged pal (seems like Sierra Madre is pretty dog friendly, especially since we saw about a dozen people walking on the street with their dogs while we had our dinner). read more

Cute Greek place for a cute town! Can't believe I haven't tried this place till recently, they have a good balance of items on the menu at all price points. From a relatively inexpensive sandwich to steak. The tabouli and hummus was so good! Even though I tried to stop, I couldn't help but fill up on the pita bread while waiting for food to come out. The meals are simply prepared but fresh ingredients make it delicious. Kabobs are the way to go, meat was tender and not overcooked and went well with the large grilled green chili. The plate was both a good balance of color and flavor showing that good food doesn't have to be "fancy" to appreciate it. Though we made reservations I don't think they are necessary, when we arrived for dinner the place was practically empty. Table sizes are best suited for 2-4 and it is a small restaurant, so reserve anyways if you have any doubts. Summertime opt to sit out doors, waiters are great and won't forget about you! read more

Don't bother ordering the Fartoush salad as your main entree. There is nothing special about it. I sat hungry while everyone else munched down their salads that came before their dinner entree and I wished I had something to nosh on too. Several people offered to share but I knew I had a big salad coming. I got up and inquired if they could bring me a soup. No soup. The food came and 3 of our group had ordered the pastitas and it looked really good. The chicken swarma looked good. I heard the swordfish entree was kinda bland. When the Fartoush salad was put down for me, I almost cried. But I tried to keep my dissapointment to myself so as not to put a damper on the fun party. I have been to Corfu for their delicious breakfast, but finally got to try their raved about Mediterranean food. Corfu hits the nail on the head with their food. The chicken breast kebob was my favorite meat, it was so tender, flavorful, and juicy. Also, the souvlaki (beef) and lamb kebabs were amazing as well. Make sure to order their hummus and get extra garlic sauce for you garlic lovers. I think this is the best place I have ever gotten hummus and garlic sauce from, I could eat it everyday. The quality of the ingredients is always fresh and they have high caliber Mediterranean food. I grew up with this cuisine especially homemade versions and I can safely say Corfu is homemade quality. The food here is so delicious! I've eaten here twice. I usually don't crave Mediterranean food but the food here is just so good. I ordered the gyro the first time, with kofta and french fries. Everything was so delicious. Their garlic sauce is so powerful and garlicky, you need only a little but it's so good! Today I ordered the lamb kabob plate. The lamb was so flavorful. Everything is seasoned perfectly, not salty. Their hummus and tabbouleh is also really good and I don't even like tabbouleh, which says a lot about good it is. The best thing is that they have a lot of different dishes on their menu, not just Mediterranean but also classic American, Greek, Italian so there's so much to choose from and you can try something different each time. The staff is also friendly. Food doesn't take too long to be prepared either, about 15-20 minutes. It's the perfect place to eat after going for a hike nearby. read more

We always do take out. Have been coming to Corfu restaurant for many years when visiting my parents in Sierra Madre, where I grew up. The food is fresh, flavorful, and simply delicious! I must say, I have never tried anything other than the Gyro, but they are so good, I get a hankering for one every so often, and they never disappoint! I had lunch here yesterday and I was pleasantly surprised after my meal. The food wasn't half bad. In fact, it was rather delightful. I ordered a chicken kebab plate, which included two kebabs, rice, hummus, pita bread, marinated onions, and tabbouli. On the side, there was a little bit of garlic sauce as well. The grand total came to $13.09. Everything was delicious with exception of the pita bread. It was thin, flat, and dry. It mimicked the taste and texture of sandpaper. This is a nice place to go if you want a quiet brunch. I ordered an omelet with grilled chicken and tomatoes and it was just okay. The chicken was pretty tough but it was very filling. The hash browns were also undercooked and super mushy in the middle. I also got the beef kebab plate which was a hard pass. The meat was nice and tender but way under seasoned. No flavor only texture. Not sure if it's always like this here or if they just forgot to season the kebab at all. This place was just okay but I wouldn't be revisiting again. They come hot off the grill, the portions are generous, and served with great pride. Long overdue First off food is great. Always loved Mediterranean kabbab etc. they do exceptionally well . You can tell the ingredients are fresh some Mediterranean restaurants miss the mark with flavors running together and the food feels heavy leaving you feeling sluggish after eating it. This is hands down my go to when I want to eat healthy but feel satisfied. 2nd the people running the business and their workers are awesome. You can feel the family vibe in their. Their owner Vic (forgive me if I'm saying it wrong) called my girlfriend to tell her she left her car keys at the restaurant while we were searching everywhere and calling a locksmith. He even stayed after hours to wait for us because she needed them for work the next morning. There is a woman who works there most nights I do not no her name(sorry). Food is great. Manners from the service staff not so much. We came for a later dinner and asked the waitress about 10 times if we needed to rush out, she told us no 10 times. As we were enjoying our food, without warning, a gentleman that I'm assuming was the owner, came out and RANG A BELL and said "dinner is over, time to go". Never offered to go boxes, just kicked us out. It was appalling. I plan to contest my bill with the bank so I can take the tip back. read more
