Went for a Sunday Brunch and we will be returning. Here's a quick rundown. Food: All delicious. My table had the Lamb Chops, Drunken French Toast , Waffle, Fried Green Tomatoes, Catfish Nuggets, and Cajun Salmon & Eggs. 5 stars for all of it. Service: Great. Our server was Annette? She was fun and very knowledgeable of the food and the customer's needs. Ambiance: It was Christmas time so the Christmas music was softly playing, not too loud. Lighting was just right. My girlfriend treated me to dinner here for my birthday tonight and I must say- IT WAS BOMB.COM!!! I don't know if there's a new chef or what but almost everything was A+. Fried green tomatoes are still the best. When you top it with the accompanying toppings (a goat cheese mix and some tomato relish) you'll die and go to heaven. The lemon pepper wings are top notch. My girl got the spicy salmon pasta which is super spicy but flavored well. She loved it. I got the cajun salmon which came with rice pilaf and brussel sprouts. The brussel sprouts are sooo good now and the salmon was cooked to perfection. The only thing I didn't like was the sweet potatoe side. I thought it was going to be a hash but it was more like sweet potato cakes and they had a wierd after taste. I was ordering DoorDash, and got over-excited for the new Black-owned Business spotlight--so I decided to give this place a try! Like others, I was persuaded by the overall stars from the reviews. However, unlike the superb stars many were able to share in their experiences--I am honestly disappointed! For the price, I expected way more! The descriptions on the menu are great, but the food did not live up to the hype whatsoever. Besides not being properly seasoned, my Fried Chicken meal was overcooked/burnt on the outside, undercooked/raw on the inside, and I could see where the feathers were not properly removed. Also, the description was misleading as the red beans with chicken sausage and rice was straight beans and rice. Don't spend your life trying to find the sausage! By time I found mine, there was one lonesome slice. For the amount of food--the $4 craft soda was good, but overpriced. The bottle is cute, but it wasn't enough to wash away the bad taste. And after my $20 meal (I spent $50+ treating my coworker, plus delivery)--I still had to purchase food because I couldn't eat my order. I had high hopes, but I wouldn't go out of my way to try this place again. My order was trash, literally. I would give it one more try for being Black-owned, but I cannot recommend the food at Cori's Modern Kitchen + Bar, based on my poor experience. read more

My first visit here was amazing a few months ago. The food, ambiance, and service was on point. Sadly, I took a friend last Friday to support a black owned business. There was no AC with it being almost 90 degrees. We were both were sweating by the time we got our food. They couldn't accept card payments so they were sending invoices via email to pay, and the bathrooms were very unclean. The server was kind but I think that there should have been a number of adjustments for customers due to so many things not working. This could have slightly improved the customer experience. For example all customers should be refilled fresh water without even asking, the manager greeting every table to explain the situation and how they are planning to resolve it. We were just expected to endure through this unpleasant experience. This could really hurt their business and I hope they are able to make a positive shift soon. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. Food is expensive for the proportions, COLD and our food came out 45 mins after ordering. Drinks are basic. Service is TERRIBLE. Our server took 15 mins to get our order and he completely rung in the order because he didn't write anything down. Ambiance is ok. It looks like your Aunt's living room. Something my sister notice is the restaurant legit didn't smell like food. Like where's the kitchen??? I used to be a server so I'm typically very low maintenance but this was the very first time I just paid for my drinks and left. Will never return. Don't recommend. We planned to check out this Black Owned restaurant when it first opened but time got the best of us. However, we made sure to rush there days before Covid restrictions enforced no indoor dining in Prince George's County. Per the suggestion of a friend of mine that is a regular, I called to make a reservation for 3ppl when the gentlemen on phone laughed and politely said "you won't be needing one".... once there, I got it as we were the only ones in the entire joint!?! I would love to say that it was sooo nice to have an entire restaurant to ourselves IF perhaps we were on an intimate hot date, but with 3 chicks it was kind of sad & lonely!lol And unfortunately with no liquor license yet that really didn't help at all. Nonetheless the food was absolutely delicious! We started with orders of Lamb Chops, Fried Green Tomatoes, Brussel Sprouts, and Lemon Pepper Wings to share and a Chicken & Bacon Pasta to go. Everything was well seasoned, came out piping out, but honestly took quite a while because they were slammed with to go orders with what seemed to be 1 maybe 2 employees working tops. We were patient and understood while hungry and in dire need of a cocktail to help time pass. It was heartwarming to have a front row seat to see how the community is keeping this hidden gem with a fabulous interior up and running. The steadiness of takeout orders was nice in the absence of the warm bodies that use to need reservations to dine in the place. A lot of people order food delivery service from them... this time we didn't get drinks but I had a Shirley temple with extra cherries and it was just ok. I think it's because it was Bottled and on top of that it's $4 a bottle, which is average for a soft drink in a restaurant but both of my bottles were flat and then poured over ice so I didn't get the "soda" effect I wanted... however the food was bomb! We didn't do appetizers but I had the Fried Green Tomato BLT salad and it was SO good! It had pork belly, 2 HUGE fried green tomatoes and bacon on a bed of fresh greens tossed in a blue cheese dressing topped with bleu cheese crumbles... my sister had the Creole burger, which was huge and she said it was delicious and full of flavor. It had a fried green tomato, grilled onions, aioli and more with a nice spice to the burger. My mom had the Fried catfish sandwich. It looked like it was 3 pieces of fish on this sandwich. My mom cut it in half and had enough to take to go. She said it was fried nicely and also full if flavor... The prices for the amount of food they give you I think is perfect. Customer service is A+. Our waitress was not only bar tending but serving 2 other tables and I promise we felt like we were her only customers! I can't remember her name but she has dreads, witty and a great personality! The building this restaurant is located in is a kind of old building but the space and atmosphere is really nice. I think it's good for date night, lunch with friends or even a meeting... I've eaten here twice. Once I ordered through DoorDash and the second time I was in the area and ordered pick up. The ordering process was easy and straight forward. I have had their grilled chicken sandwich, spicy fried chicken sandwich, spinach dip and cornbread. I thoroughly enjoyed them all except the latter. It tasted fine but I wasn't really a fan. My daughter tried their cheeseburger which was really good and my friend ordered the fish sandwich, which she liked. Overall, we had a good experience and the food was tasty. I would eat there again. Their inside decor is really nice and I'm sure when the world opens back up, it will be a nice hangout or date night spot. read more

I decided to check out Cori's brunch for the first time as the restaurant was opened on New Year's Day. I have visited Cori's in the past, and as usual, the vibe is very laid back. Upon walking in, it's likely that you'll hear the sounds of 90's R&B through the speakers, although it's not over powering. The set up of the restaurant is nice with one side being dinner type seating, and the other side bar stools/bar. I am Leah's greeted by the owner who is extremely awesome. He is a young man and I commend him for running such a business at his age. Most importantly- the food is always excellent. On New Year's Day, I had lamp chops as an appetizer and catfish/grits as my entree. I admit, it was tough choosing from the brunch menu as everything looked amazing. I was very satisfied with my choice. The new bartender was attentive with my mimosas. Overall, per usual, this restaurant never lets me down. I know if I did have an issue, the owner would take care of it promptly. I hope to return soon. read more

Service ...utterly slow, my waiter took forever, a graduation party of 12 Took precedence according to my waiters words, so it's a sit your butt there and wait you want the food right. It's been 50 mins now and I'm still waiting for my salad. Ridiculous. Ambience is good for the location. On another note the high top chairs do not match the tables causes you to sit awkwardly and eat. The bathroom tissue dispenser is a nuisance to deal with, cutlery looks like it came out the $1.25 store, very tarnished. Also the music is so loud you can't hear yourself speak and it's not even happy hour. Who needs that loud of music at lunch. So you have to compete with the people talking and the music. read more

Even being at the bar, drinks too a while and we had to ask for water 3 times. Now the food.... I ordered the cornbread, it came out burn and cold. I sent it back and then they tell me they out after I just saw another person served. Our orders came out warm not hot but we were hungry and ate. The food was good. Out first time patronizing this establishment. I must say the atmosphere is nice for a local bar/restaurant. I really didn't expect it to be as nice on the inside as it was. I visited Cori's on a Tuesday around 6pm for happy hour. It wasn't busy at all--very lowkey establishment. With that being said, I was shocked when it took several moments before someone greeted us at the bar. There was a man there with a suit on, so I'm guessing he was of importance, but it even took him a while to greet us. When the bartender finally came over, she was pleasant though! Her pour is not weak at all! I tried the crab dip and the catfish nuggets. I enjoyed the dip, but I felt like the catfish nuggets could've been crispier. I will say though, they make their hot sauce in house and it was delicious. After a while, business started to pick up and it seemed like the bartender was the only one working while others just stood around, causing service to be slow. I would suggest learning to work as a team and not putting the responsibility on one person for better service for patrons. read more

Delicious gourmet food in PG County, count me in. If you're 8 innings deep: the spinach dip and house made chips - the stuff dreams are made of, the fried green tomato BLT salad - one of the best salads I've ever had, and the NY strip steak and sidewinder fries with the Mac and cheese - the best restaurant steak I've ever had and that's including more high priced steakhouses. The food here is ridiculously good and the service is very friendly. My company's food was slow to come, but they made up for it in taste. I had a disappointing experience here this past Sunday, which was Mother's Day. I called the restaurant around 5pm on Friday to see if they had any reservations for brunch on Mother's Day. I figured it was a long shot and I was right. The woman that answered the phone told me they were booked for reservations, but if I walked in I should be able to get a table. I asked her what time they opened and she said 12pm, so I decided that we would go at that time. Fast forward to Mother's Day, me, my mom, and my brother walked through the restaurant doors at 11:59am. The restaurant doors weren't open yet so we waited in the atrium with two other parties who were already there. Someone came and opened the doors at 12. The larger party was seated and I overheard that they had a reservation. I overheard the other party of two being told that they were not taking walk-ins because they were all booked up for reservations. She then came and told us the same thing. I told her that I called on Friday and was told that I should be able to get seated as a walk-in. She said I don't know why they told you that and that they didn't even have the staff to accommodate a certain amount of people. While it is understandable that a restaurant would be booked up on Mother's Day, turning people away is not. I wish I had taken a picture, but the restaurant was EMPTY, with lots of available tables. By that time, it was a little after 12pm and only one party was there on time. So either the other 12 o'clock reservations were late or they weren't coming. People cancel reservations all the time, so turning away business at the prospect of others showing up for their reservation time is crazy. We ended up going to the Red Lobster across the street, were seated right away, and had a lovely Mother's Day lunch. read more

Had a mother/daughter dinner here and it was awesome. We wanted to support a black-owned business and we loved it! The spinach dip was really tasty, recommend to ask for more crackers. THAT BERRY LEMONADE IS YES and the food.... I mean wow... very flavorful, well cooked and GOOD TASTING! The spicy salmon pasta is what I got and it def is spicy but it's really good if you prefer a kick. My mom the Brussel Sprout Zucchini Pasta (added shrimp and salmon), it comes spicy so ask if you want it as non-spicy and they'll make it for you. She loved it. We went during 4-5pm on a Monday so it was barely anyone there and the atomsphere is lightful, nice decor and spaces between tables. Didn't check out the bar during our visit. read more

I heard about this place last year and was itching to get here. When you walk in, the aesthetic is amazing. The decor is a modern, chic, royal look. It was clean and the staff was pleasant. That's the best I can describe it lol but I ordered the spiced pork chop and my mother ordered the catfish sandwich. We ordered fried green tomatoes as an appetizer and they were very tasty with the sauce and tomato they bring it out with. I ordered a black cherry cola that was so good. Our entrees were both tasty. I cannot say enough great things about the food at this restaurant. Everything was great (with the exception of the greens...they should consider taking those off the menu). The highlight of my experience there was my server, Amos. He had such a great attitude, and was so kind and understanding. He made great recommendations, and he also made some wonderful drinks for us. I will definitely be returning. This was about my fourth visit to the restaurant and every time that I go, the service improves and the food is always on point. I look forward to my next visit. This is a really old building, yet they made the interior comfortable and relaxing. The music is loud, but not overwhelming. The service was a little slow. Our brunch order was almost room temperature, but we were starving so we ate it anyway. It is a good thing that the cooks are excellent. The cornbread is delightful! They got the grits right!! In all, I will be returning to Cori's. Delicious and relaxing. If more of us show up to try out their delicious omelets and other dishes, they will be able to upgrade the exterior and the service will get better. The more practice, the better you get. read more

And tonight I finally have eaten a wonderful, memorable meal in Suitland MD, Camp Springs. 1/2 of a fried chicken, red beans with chicken sausage, rice pilaf, cornbread with vanilla butter. The price? Was $37.00 and the amount of food (1 meal) fed me & the hubs. The red beans with chicken sausage are listed on the menu as red beans and rice. The sprouts were delicious also. My husband got the half fried chicken. I had to stick my fork in it. The chicken was tasty. I think that the coating tasted a little burned.
