We were very excited to try this place! Ordered takeout for three adults. The pork pizza was perfect. The beet salad and other pizzas were not. The salad greens were already dressed, leading to them being soggy. The goat/fig/onion pizza was topped with tender greens which were hammered/slimy (we assume it was due to the hot pizza) which rendered it inedible. Good food that fell prey to logistical issues. When we called we were immediately given a refund for those items. Excellent customer service. We hope that tweaks in the process will ensure those who order takeout have the same excellent experience as those who dine in. read more

First, Eagle River desperately needed a classier eatery, and this establishment solves that need. I wish them nothing but success. I do feel the very new restuarant may have some kinks to work out and improve upon though. Starting with what's good: -The aesthetic of the restuarant is lovely. -The service was accommodating and friendly -The Crab cakes were very good. The 'could use improvement': -The beer list is pretty limited and uninspired considering the name of the restaurant. -the cheese plate consists of 4 cheeses, that are also fairly uninspired. A cheddar and a parmesan which were not aged, smoked or in any other way altered to separate them from a store bought platter. The brie and smoked gouda were decent. The fig jam quite good. The crackers were too big, bulky and heavy to be used easily for sampling the cheese and jam. -The menu is a bit on the small side... That is likely by design, but 3 or 4 more options not named Mac&cheese would be nice. We will gladly sample some again, including some other menu options in the future, and will review accordingly. Again, hoping for nothing but success for Corks and Hops! I hope many others in Eagle River swing by and give them a try! read more

Atmosphere and ambiance is nice and intimate. There is a nice mixture of high and low tables to sit at along with a nice rectangular bar top. The decor is a perfect mixture of industrial meets modern. They have a nice selection of unique and delicious wines and beers to choose from. The food menu is smaller, but offers many sought after traditional dishes with their own unique spin on them. Can easily accommodate larger groups if needed. The staff was friendly and the service was wonderful. It is nice to see a restaurant like this in Eagle River. Well done! read more

Ordered online for curbside pickup. We got the crab cakes, plain Mac and cheese and the fig and goat cheese pizza. Restaurants as clean, everyone inside was masked appropriately and online ordering was super easy/efficient. The crab cakes are so good. They were the best thing we tried! The Mac and cheese was pretty ok. The texture was perfect (al dente pasta and a little stretch on the cheese) but the flavor was slightly bland. The fig and goat cheese pizza had excellent crust but it was a little sweeter than I had expected as the balsamic glaze was super sweet. I'm hoping to try again and try some new items off the menu. It's so exciting to see these new places opening in Eagle River. We've needed good dining spots here for awhile! read more

First and last time experiencing this. We ordered two pizzas and a crab cake appetizer. The crab cakes were good, not outstanding. Fig, goat cheese and caramelized onions, soggy, too heavy on the fig and sautéed onions, not caramelized. Blackened chicken pizza, soggy and flavorless. Yes, I realize we're in lockdown, but no excuses for pizzas already soggy when you get them. The food pictures don't reflect what you get. This place will do well because it's a wine and beer bar, and great food options are almost non existent in Eagle River. The trend continues. read more

Everything was top notch! Our friendly waitress, Makayla, was so helpful with the menu and gave recommendations, which proved to be exactly what we were craving last night. Food was phenomenal, service was speedy and the environment/ambiance was perfect for a quiet date night. My husband had the Kenai River Hefeweizen which he said was one of the better beers he's had (he loves trying new craft beers), the two pizzas we got were so tasty, the Caesar salad was light and delicious, and the peanut butter ice cream was the most decadent dessert to finish the incredible meal. Last time eating here, had the 16oz dry aged ribeye platter which was bland and a sub par cut of meat. There was no pre-seasoning or finishing seasoning on the steak, too much fat and gristle. The potatoes were also unseasoned, the corn was overcooked and unseasoned, not even a touch of butter. They added a thing of garlic butter on the side that was just raw minced garlic and clarified butter(usually slightly sauté the garlic first-just a thought). Needless to say this dish was the worst I've had there and for $68 dollars(just the steak), very disappointing. This is not my first bad meal here but sadly will be the last. The wait staff and wine selection is excellent as usual. read more

This is a newer place in Eagle River. The place looks nice and there was plenty of parking. The inside is very modern, clean and bright. It was a little busy but we were greeted by a friendly staff member and seated quickly. It seemed a little expensive but you can enjoy an upscale place with a very nice atmosphere, tasty appetizers, great beverages along with outstanding service to match. We were quite impressed with Ashlyn, our server. She was outgoing and friendly. She had several suggestions that made our experience feel special. We highly recommend this place! read more

New ER option and I like it!! Its swanky, fun vibe is inviting and it's unlike anything we have in our small town. My girlfriend and I went to grab something to eat and have a drink and ended up getting the wine flight, a couple of pizzas, and the fruit and cheese tray. I took pictures but unfortunately they were lost so I'll do my best to describe what we had. The barbecue chicken pizza which was packed with flavor, the crust was amazing. And it was the perfect size for two people but we didn't just stop there. The other pizza that we got was the steak pizza and it also was very good although not as flavorful as the barbecue pizza. The fruit and cheese platter had an array of options and was pretty good but not the best I've had. There did seem to be a lot of staff standing around and the place was full so it was a little odd to see that many staff members not doing too much but I guess it's better to have too much than too little. They were very attentive and I love that it's a local family that owns it. Supporting small businesses is so important, especially now. I can't wait to go back and try some other things and if you're in town this is definitely a place you should stop for a fun little experience! read more

While grateful to have options in Eagle River I guess we always have higher expectations. Don't get me wrong...service has been great (5 stars), the place is clean and stylish (5 stars), they opened during a pandemic and managed to keep going...not an easy task. *Food (3 stars): Sometimes food quality falls short... Food overall is ok, albeit a limited menu. The kahlua pork and the prime rib pizzas are amazing. The french onion soup is spot on. We've tried the coffee bourbon ice cream once and it was very good. And while we haven't tried everything on the menu we have tried a bit. The charcuterie/cheese plate for two that was on the menu at the time for $30 (I'm not sure they offer it for two anymore) is so overpriced for what you are getting which is basically all the same things you can buy at Costco, the fig spread is good though...not sure if it's made in house or not but it is good. However, for that price I would expect some unusual cheeses or at least something you couldn't easily find without going to a specialty cheese shop. The mac and cheese is not a favorite...let's just leave it at that...too many things about it that we found lacking. Last night we went for dessert and drinks and had the chocolate stout cake (which we've had before and it was good and moist and we had no complaints). The piece we were served last night was dried as all get out, like it had been in the fridge for quite a while, uncovered, or it had been frozen and thawed out. The frosting on it was also dry and hard. We got a scoop of vanilla ice cream with it...it had a lot of crystallization going on which led us to believe it had melted and been refrozen or whoever made the ice cream didn't cook their custard properly (if it is indeed custard based, it was hard to tell)...in any case the subtle vanilla flavor was lost because of the iciness of it. In all honesty we should've sent it back and made someone aware, but I have such a hard time in this day and age complaining about anything when we go out...we are lucky restaurants are even open given the staff shortages, etc. *Beer (3 stars): Most of the beer they have is good, both bottled and on tap. I'd expect a better draft selection for something that has Hops in it's name, though. But then if they are basing the Hops part of their name off IPAs then they have it covered. Lots of pedestrian IPAs from various breweries. But overall not a great diverse selection of beer to choose from when thinking about pairing your beer with your food. The bottle list seems a little easier to work with for food pairing. *Wine (5 stars): Wine seems to be their forte and pairings for wines are offered on the menu. I wish someone would sit down and think about beer selections they way they do wine. Overall, I would love to say I love the place, but sadly I don't. It's ok for a few drinks and a pizza or some french onion soup, but that's about it for us. There definitely is potential, though. read more

Ordered the filet "Oscar style". It said it came with mixed veggies. It came with Brussels sprouts (which I love) but these were so mushy. Like they were frozen and then they tried to roast them. The steak was cooked really well but needed more sauce; a little dry even with the Oscar toppings (crab cake and béarnaise). Our server was ok.. made us feel rushed a bit like we were taking too long. My aunt loved the blackened shrimp pasta and others liked the khalua pork pizza and Mac n cheese. 2nd time eating here, the rotating menu is a plus, atmosphere is nice and relaxed, fairly easy to get reservations. Lots of beer and wine selections. First time I had the tenderloin salad, tenderloin was cooked well done, so a little to done for me. Hubby got the tenderloin pizza and it was absolutely amazing. This time I went for the tenderloin "Oscar Style" steak was perfectly cooked, crab cake was good, béarnaise was very good, broccolini could have used a few more mins in steamer they were quite crunchy. Let's lead with the good, server was attentive and friendly, interior is well done. The wine pours are generous. That is where the positive ends. Wine list is limited but it is a small restaurant so somewhat understandable, but lacks in fun finds. All the offerings are easily purchased at any liquor stor. Beer selection is somewhat better. Food is sub par at best. The beef short rib was ordered by three of us and all were sent back. They were inedible, so salty. It tasted like they used straight "better than bouilion", no rich seasoning with herbs for the sauce one bite left you wincing, thought maybe it was just the top nope all the way through and the same for all 3 plates. The pizza was under cooked and over sauced which was sad because the combo of flavors had potential and left a puddle of grease on the plate. 2 wedge salads we different sizes with different dressing and bacon quantities. The bruschetta, standard mozzarella and tomato had added chicken which should have been left off as it was dry. The bread wasn't toasted which left it soggy and tough. The chocolate chip skillet cookie was oddly grainy. I can only imagine that some teenage was left in charge of the kitchen that night. It was just bad all around. Our server offered to get us something else, but given that it took forever to get our order and the fact we sent 3 plates back I was like no thanks. It's a good concept but needs a major help in the food area. I know Eagle River needs more options but for the price, portions and food quantity this isn't it. read more

Stopped at the new (or at least new to me) Corks & Hops for an early dinner. Fantastic addition to Eagle River! Great modern atmosphere. Feeling decadent, I ordered the Blackened Shrimp Fettuccine. It was rich -- just as I hoped. I never detected the "blackened" part, but it was delicious never the less. A large portion, which in the future, I could easily split and have a salad and it would a great meal. It didn't need the bacon addition to the dish, but who am I to say "no" to bacon. My one suggestion (and I'm picky) is that the bread that came on the plate was . . . well . . . meh. You know what would knock it out of the park? Corks & Hops calls Fire Island Rustic Bakery and gets fresh baguettes. You pair that baguette perfection and decadent fettuccine dish and people should line up. :-) I give it five stars because the servers including Noah were stellar. P.S. I've been here 3 times now. The inside is very clean and neat. The staff is friendly and very timely. I am rating this place 4 stars for a couple reasons. 1st the craft beer selection is very small. Although I do appreciate there is some good ones on tap I was definitely expecting more options. 2nd reason, I've tried 3 things off the food menu but would only recommend 2 of the 3. The BBQ kahlua pork pizza is bomb! The thin garlicky crust is so good and it had the perfect amount of sauce and toppings. What I wouldn't recommend are the fig & goat cheese pizza or their king crab mac&cheese. The pizza had way too much fig jam/sauce on it and honestly I just didn't like the flavors. Not for me! The mac&cheese noodles were way overcooked and soggy. And although the serving was very cheesey it was kinda plain. Not nearly enough king crab in for the price either. They have other kinds of mac&cheese but I'll pass. read more

My spousal unit and I visited this new-to-us restaurant on September 9th, and I have to say that I really, REALLY wanted to rate them highly due to their modernist decor, cleanliness, and their excellent, personable service (our server would make any employer proud), and just for being a new Eagle River restaurant. I couldn't. We both had French onion soup; Tasty, hearty, cheesy, with good french bread, maybe a little less salty than I like, but still 4-out-of-5. She had a chicken/bleu cheese salad, and said it was first rate. I ordered the 'special', a filet mignon with grilled shrimp on top--at $55. What I GOT was, I fear, an 'assembled filet' of about 6oz, juiceless though cooked medium rare (ordered rare), with six medium, salty grilled shrimp--tasty, crispy little varmints, though--but NO comparison to the filet one gets at a certain, old-time downtown Anchorage restaurant. Disappointing, but my mistake--the place isn't a steak house. On the OTHER hand, said non-filet filet was nestled on a bed of GLORIOUS garlic mashed potatoes simply, succulently oozing butter, enough garlic and butter to completely kill the awful taste of mashed potatoes. THIS should be a side dish, in a larger portion; I'd pay extra for it--it's that good. Ask for it by name. As a vegetable/garnish, my plate had some odd budding greens that I think were maybe broccoli but with long, odd narrow stalks; A full half of those stalks were completely inedible, fibrous and woody. Seriously, something inedible like that shouldn't be served at all--it was that bad. We passed on dessert, but the selection looks grand--as does the wine-and-beer bar that we will try out in the future. We'll definitely go back--wine and dessert at least--mainly due to our server's attitude and attentiveness. Di I say that she was great? I just won't order the filet again. read more

I was so disappointed. We had heard great things from friends so decided to give it a try last night. The parking lot was half empty on a Saturday evening so we should have heeded the warning. The decor and ambience are excellent. However, I asked for a cup of coffee (granted it was 8pm), which arrived cold and was clearly from the morning. We were told they were out of one of the only specials on the limited menu (loaded Jo Jo potatoes) due to the kitchen having not made enough cheese sauce. Interesting that we weren't offered any substitutions given that one of the main menu items is Mac and cheese...we then tried to order a Caesar salad-but hark! The kitchen was verily out of...Caesar dressing too. Again, no offer of an alternative. Our Caprese salad included three end pieces of tomato from which the core hadn't been removed. And, I really typically care not about dress codes for restaurants-this is Alaska-but the combination of one server wearing a "You matter to God" t-shirt while standing around on her cell phone looking bored was the icing. It was really sad to see 4 servers in a half empty restaurant, one on her phone, and 2 trying to do busy work, in an economy where other establishments with better food/options are struggling to find staff...we won't be back, despite the good wine selection. read more

Amazing meal and amazing service. It is so nice to have an upscale local restaurant that even goes so far as to recommend appropriate parings that match the flavor palettes of the meals.
