Although I hardly write reviews, I feel compelled to write a review because this is the second time my boyfriend and I have been here and they deserve it! This time around we got the burrata and prosciutto to start. And might I say it's the best I've had to date. Prosciutto is tender and burrata is super fresh. For dinner we got the vodka fettuccine pasta and pesto gnocchi. I fell in love with the vodka fettuccine and the pesto gnocchi was great but more on the rich side for taste. I forget the exact type of wine but either a Pinot noir or similar to sip, which was the perfect balance of a light red, amazing! And lastly, the ambiance matched the quality of food. Very quaint, romantic (perfect for date night) and authentic. We'll definitely be back regularly. read more

We went here because we thought it looked cute. First time was the last time. Go here to eat if you are salt deficient, are used to putting a lot of salt on your food or if you can't taste food very well in general and can withstand a temporary spike in your blood pressure. The wine is OK. We must have witnessed an off night for the staff because the one guy that was waiting on tables was kind of cranky. There a better wine bars in the neighborhood for sure. read more

I've just returned home from a wonderful meal and experience at Corks. Part of me thought, "Maybe I shouldn't review it so that I can keep it all to myself..." BUT tl;dr, check this place out! It seems like Corks has been around for a couple months and has garnered quite a few great reviews. And for once, a restaurant lives up to its Yelp reviews! My friend and I stopped by for dinner -- she had been to Corks before, but only for wine. The restaurant is very cute, with an open kitchen, bar area, a row of 2-person tables, and one small round table by one of the windows. I took one of the tables next to the window because it was still bright out and it was just such a cute spot! I really liked the wooden decor and dimly lit ambience (along with the Warriors game playing on the TV lulz). I think the walls were decorated with wooden wine cases? I don't know what they called exactly, but it was cute and cozy. There is also a candle on each table that they light up once it starts to get dark outside. Since we sat at the window, it didn't get too dark but the tables inside definitely were more dim. Anyway, the menu is very small at the moment -- one page with food on the front and drinks on the back. Their website shows a more extensive menu...So hmm...Overall, the menu (wine and food) was very reasonable priced and surprisingly affordable! Either way, my friend and I had: - A glas each of the barbera wine - Tartara di Tonno, SO DELICIOUS! The tuna was fresh and served with a olive oil and a balsamic vinegar reduction. We were cleaning the plate with our bread to get the reduction...There was also a hint of citrus that tasted more like lemon, and that was very complementary to the dish. The dish came with two pieces of bread, but our server (I think also the manager) brought us a bread basket for us to finish up the rest of the tartare! - Piadina el prosciutto, also delicious! This was described to us as an Italian flatbread. It was filled with prosciutto, arugula and some type of creamy cheese. It came to us while the tortilla was still warm and toasty, which was perfect. - Pasta of the day, which was a vodka red sauce with 3 types of prosciutto. When the pasta was brought out, they had plated it in two bowls since we were sharing! So thoughtful! I have to say the service was really great throughout the 2.5 hours we were there. The server/manager checked in on us a few times, but we never felt rushed to leave. I wish we had gotten his name, but thank you! I've been to Corks twice now and am always delighted by what ends up on my plate. If you want some heart-satisfying Italian food, this is the place to go. My favorite thing about this place is the selection of exclusively Italian wine. Corks staff is able to very knowledgeably and gently introduce guests to a whole new world of vino. I love hearing comparisons to California pinots and zinfandels, to help guests appreciate similar wines from regions in Italy that people may just have not heard about. We had so much fun last night and also....what delicious food and wine, not to mention lovely proprietors and staff. We were on the road to Mandalay, next door, which was all torn up for remodeling. Luckily a quick pivot landed us with the last available table at Corks. For eats we had cauliflower soup, a Nicoise, a pasta dish, a cheese platter and a molten chocolate dessert. Everything was great, and if I were you I'd rush on over to Corks - I don't know how much longer they can hang on to their oh so reasonable pricing for both the food & wine. What a lovely, cozy, and quiet spot to grab a great glass or bottle of wine and some eats with a small party! My partner and I stopped by late last night around 8:30. We each had a glass of wine off the exclusively Italian wine list and shared the burrata plate with prosciutto. For $15, the platter of burrata was quite generously-sized and there were plenty of freshly sliced pieces of prosciutto over a bed of seasoned arugula. The order came with a basket of slightly toasted crostini drizzled with olive oil that was a great accompaniment. Highly recommend it. The joint is run by Giuseppe and manned by the gentleman behind the bar, Alejandro. Upon entering they make you feel like old friends and are quick to spark up a conversation, ask your opinion on the wine list, and take suggestions for the music. I can already tell that this will become a new favorite haunt -- the kind of hospitality and quality food that they're serving up will cultivate many a local and loyal customer. I'm so happy this place came to the neighborhood! I hesitated before reviewing it on Yelp because I'm greedy and selfish and don't want to have to fight for a table. BUT it's a small, local business and could probably use the extra publicity. Anyhoo...my husband and I stopped by for wine and a light bite one evening a few weeks ago. The wine list trends Italian (if not 100%, then very close to it) but has a number of styles at different price points. I had a glass of the valpolicella and it was very good. The menu was surprisingly varied for such a small space (and it sounds like they have plans to expand the food offerings even more). We ended up with a pizza-type thing covered with generous portions of prosciutto and arugula. We can't wait to come back for a date night sometime soon! read more

This is definitely my favorite place in town! I am so excited about getting to try everything in the menu. I went the first couple of days it had opened and I am looking for to go back soon. This place is a wonderful addition to the Inner Richmond. I've been here twice since it opened and I've had an incredible meal and great wine pairing both times. The burrata is well portioned and delicious. The tuna tartar left me wanting more - fresh and well seasoned. I had a penne cream based sauce with orange zest that was incredibly light and tasty. The squid ink spaghetti is also delicious. Lastly the chocolate soufflé was amazing. Service is impeccable and the dinning area is quaint, giving it a locals only, neighborhood secret feel. Corks is a beautiful little Italian wine bar with a warm atmosphere and delicious food. Our host (and the owner), Antonio Mure, was a welcoming and engaging character. Our group of 4 shared a bottle of red wine and started off with the delicious Piadina el prosciutto. The burrata in this dish was incredible. We each then had a delicious bowl of pasta. None of the pasta dishes were on the menu (they change day-to-day), so they were all just described to us by the owner. It felt like being inside a family home.
