We went for their Happy Hour menu and ordered the following: CROSTINI FUNGI PIE PASTA W/ MARINARA + BUTTERFLY PEA LEMONADE (kids menu) The fungi pie had a generous amount of mushrooms and we loved the chewy texture of their wood-fired pizza. The chili oil drizzle was a nice addition. The pasta from the kids menu had generous portion so you get more bang for your buck (my husband ended up finishing it since my son was full). I was blown away by their tomato sauce! I had to order a side of it to dip my crust ($3 extra). It was so fresh, flavorful, and well balanced! A staff member told me that they used two varieties to achieve this: a slightly sweet San Marzano type from California and an acidic/tart type from Italy. So good!! Seating in the front was kinda weird. The tables feel a lil like an after thought? So if you want the resto experience, request a table inside. For the two SFRW menus, we got - the asparagus ($23), meatballs ($20), pepperoni pie ($26), radiatore ($24), choc budino ($12), polenta cake ($13). Total on the regular menu would have been $118 instead of the $90 we paid, so a savings of $28. Not too bad for a SFRW menu. I adore their pizza and wings, so enjoyed both. The 4 of us (Me, Gayle and 2 granddaughters) had a nice outdoor patio lunch at Fiorella as a break from our trip to the nearby Japanese Tea Garden. The 2 girls had a long list of food they wouldn't eat and differed on what each of them liked. Pasta appeared to be a winning choice, as one had hers plain, and the other with tomato sauce and parmesan cheese. Gayle and I shared a pizza, along with wine and beer. When my friend chose to dine here on a midweek lunch, I envisioned the place being on Irving Street where numerous new eateries have and continue to open. After finding a parking space about two blocks away, I reread the address and had a good idea of the location. My gracious hosts have never dined at this restaurant and it was my 1st for this location after trying their Clement Street one about a year ago. My friends are both pescetarian and were happy that the menu was friendly to their needs. We decided to order a family style meal so we shared everything that was ordered as follows: Appetizers: 1. I ordered the Radiatore Alla Vodka Diavlo which easily deserved the 5/5. Perfectly Al dente paste, well seasoned (the ridges of the pasta catch the sauce), so tomato-y yet savory, perfect amount of cream from the burrata. It is some of the simplest and best vodka sauce pasta I've had in the city. Me and friends had a good yap at the bar, and service was prompt and friendly! Great Italian food with some of the less standard options. The pizzas here are simple and perfect. They really focus on highlighting just a couple of flavors and getting it very right. The funghi pizza, for example, does not distract you from the magic of the mushrooms. It hones in on it and highlights it. Mmmm, yes please! We have a "no cheese" member in our club and Fiorella accommodated them perfectly. Thanks! The burrata tomato salad, when in season, is a mind-blowing taste experience. It's perfect. I highly recommend the arancini appetizer and the Nonna's meatballs appetizer. These are also both perfect. You'll be saying, "Oh my gosh, I am so glad that Wolf told me to order this!" We got the mushroom pizza and the lamb sausage pasta. For the pasta, it was with gluten free pasta which was very good. Good balance of ingredients. Portion sizes were good. For the pizza, the texture was a bit on the chewy side. There's no Parmesan cheese on the table. It's something you need to request. It doesn't cost extra though. Our server was very accommodating(we moved tables after being sat by the door upstairs) he knew the menu and was very nice. We got the crostini which was so good. For apps, we ordered the East Coast chopped salad, Farro Primavera, and Arancini. Fave was the arancini, although the salads were good too. I'd like to see a meat stuffed version. Citrus salad $16 Interesting presentation with mostly fruit. I loved the stracciatella cheese in this but it's definitely not worth the price. Fungi Pie (Roasted Mushrooms, Garlic Cream, Scamorza) - The weakest of the three. The crust was good, but the toppings were bland and forgettable. STARTERS The OG Baby Lettuces Salad - Bland. Needed more acidity, seasoning, or standout ingredients to justify the price. Arancini al Parmigiano - Crispy on the outside, creamy and cheesy inside. Well-executed. Nonna's Meatballs - Just okay. Texture was fine, but the flavor was too mild to leave an impression. DESSERTS Tiramisu,Classic and delicious. Made with real ladyfingers and just the right balance of espresso and mascarpone. Fior di Latte Gelato,Light, creamy, and subtly sweet. You can taste the quality milk. Guittard Chocolate Budino , Deep, rich chocolate flavor. A good finish if you're a chocoholic. Restaurant my sis picked out instead of the regular pizza restaurant we normally go to. It was okay, we started with a green salad, nothing to get too excited about, it's just a green salad. The arancini came next, the sauce is out of the world great, not too bad, but I guess i'm used to them being double the size and a whole lol hotter in temperature not lukewarm. The meatballs were next, it was served in a little cast iron dish, so the question is, why the hell would you use a cast iron dish and not have it hot. Again the meatballs came out lukewarm. I really prefer my food very very hot. The pasta with vodka sauce came next, the pasta was nice and sl dente but again the dish came out lukewarm. The final item was a sausage burratta small pizza. Maybe it's just me but portions just seem dinky but the price just doesn't justify the price places charge. Everything was very good and tasty but the food that came out lukewarm was a big turnoff not to mention the price which i felt was a bit inflated. read more
