A for effort. This place got rave reviews for its roasted garlic pork and broccoli rabe sandwich. In Philly, where I'm from, a ladle of pork jus tops these sandwiches, creating a moist mouthful that ties the flavors together texturally. The Palm sandwich has no pork jus and instead has a spicy mayo, and some sort of chewy, smoky bits sprinkled on top. I'm really disappointed with this version. It's basically a very dry pork sandwich with a measly slice of provolone and broccoli rabe on one side and sauce on the other side. Unless your mouth is able to get around a 3.5" sandwich, the flavors don't mix. If you're going to make a sandwich that already exists and put your "take" on it, it should be at least as good, if not better. I hate paying good money on crap food. Boo. read more

Really nice spot for sandwiches in Outer Sunset! Vibe felt classy and very chill-- a spot you could sit at for hours and chat with someone or read a book. I tried the au poivre sandwich (roast beef, arugula, apple) and shrimp salad sandwich (shrimp, mayo, tomato, chips, lettuce) and the shrimp salad one was my favorite by far. Both sandwiches were difficult to eat due to their size but very very filling and tasty. I loved how the shrimp salad one had chips inside. The way the ingredients are positioned in the sandwich makes it hard to get a bite with all the ingredients though, so it will get messy. The bread is so good though! I came here with a friend, looking for a nice wine bar in the city. We decided to stop by Palm City Wines in the afternoon. They have plenty of seating indoors and outdoors (pets allowed outdoors). I decided to get a chilled red and my friend got some other type of red. The chilled red was very.. underwhelming. My friend's red also did not impress us. On the menu, it also said if you buy a bottle, they charge a corkage fee, which is a bit odd since it's in house. We did also order a small shareable garlic and cheese dip, which was incredible! After going home and reading some of the reviews of this place, it seems like their food is usually a hit (not much mention about their wines despite being a wine bar...). Updating my review to 5 stars because these are seriously some of my favorite sandwiches in the city, and really ever. Also, they are absolutely massive and half is more than enough to fill you up. I've come in a number of times and have tried just about all the hoagies now. My standing favorite is the shrimp salad, I could order this every single time and be thrilled with my decision. The garlic roast pork with broccoli rabe is still a heavy hitter, as is the au poivre. I need to start coming with more people and sharing more so I can eat them all each time! Other non-hoagie favs include the spicy cheese dip and anchovies. The choves are super mild and easy to eat even if it's not your favorite thing, and the cheeses dip is just pretty much perfection. I still don't like getting wine by the bottle here because of the corkage fee on bottles you buy to drink there, but I do occasionally give in if we're in a group. They also have a nice by the glass section and a good selection of canned beers, and a few on draft. read more

What a hip hoagie shop / wine bar / bottle shop in the Outer Sunset! They opened at the start of the pandemic, so kudos for surviving and pivoting and thriving!!! I've been twice now with a group of 5 or 6, and both times were great. The interior is light and bright with a wine bar, a few window seats and small tables, and a wine wall/bottle shop. The food menu is concise (a few sharable snacks, two salads, five hoagies). Everything is made fresh and so full of unique flavor combos! The hoagies are HUGE. I went for the Roasted Cauliflower. Cauliflower on a sandwich, you may ask? Yes! Highly recommend it (just wish I could add a protein). Roasted Cauliflower Hoagie: Spiced cauliflower, pickled carrots, fried shallots, hot honey, avocado, lemongrass-ginger sauce, cilantro Each of the 5 of us could only eat half of our hoagies. Came here with some locals to the Bay after a conference I was in town for and so happy they introduced this spot to us! It was a great way to be on this side of town and grab a bite. Sad I didn't get to try any wines but the sandwich really hit the spot. They have a good amount of tables and seating inside and the floor to ceiling windows offered a ton of lighting for inside. We sat by the door since there was a few of us and our server was super attentive. I ended up getting the shrimp salad hoagie per my friend's recommendation and it didn't disappoint! It had wild shrimp salad, tomato, salt & vinegar potato chips (in the hoagie), and iceberg lettuce. WOW! Now this is a sandwich shop. I would argue it's a sandwich shop that happens to have wine and beers. I came in with a couple girlfriends and tried the itailian sub with a local IPA. It was absolutely outstanding. My only complaint is that it was so big I couldnt finish the sub and was headed to airport and now I need to go back just to get another sub, but hang around and get a bottle of wine as well. Four of us finally had a chance to try the sandwiches from this place. It's not exactly easy to get to unless you live in this neighborhood in SF. Which none of us do. We arrived a few minutes before they opened and there were already several people waiting. We had ordered our sandwiches online and they were ready for pickup within about 10 minutes of opening. We had the American Italian and the Roast Pork sandwiches. Both were awesome - the bread, the fillings and the condiments ... all combined to make incredibly tasty sandwiches that were well worth the effort and the price. The open air industrial space was very chilly in winter; it felt colder inside than outside -- bring layers. I shared the Italian American sandwich and shrimp salad sandwich. The massive pile of peppery greens overwhelmed the more delicate flavors of the meat and cheese. Came here on a Monday night and wasn't too busy! The meatball dinner was definitely my favorite part of the experience! So yummy and the bread was toasted perfectly! Was really excited to try the sandwiches from here and it did not disappoint. I tried the Italian American and my Dad got the Roast Pork. The Roast Pork was really good; it had a nice managable spice that went really well with the fatty pork and bitter broccoli rabe. The Italian American was a bit unbalanced for me in terms of veggie:meat ratio. The arugula was really well seasoned with some sort of vinaigrette, but overpowered both the N'duja sauce and the meat since there wasn't as much of it. The food at this place is great. I recently ordered the shrimp salad sandwich to go. Unfortunately, the hours on the toast, website where you place your orders was incorrect and showed that they open 30 minutes before they actually did. So I had to wait. But that's not so terrible. I let them know. Hopefully, they will get that fixed. The business website list the correct hours. The sandwich was good as always. But very messy as they didn't cut it in half and it is a very large unwieldy sandwich. A little troublesome, considering I took it to the park to eat it. My wife and I have eaten here before. The place is nice clean and the wait staff is friendly. All the food we have gotten here is always very tasty and fresh. They also offer a large selection of beer and wine. I'm giving four stars on this review because the guy working the register on the day I got my to-go sandwich was having a bad day. And they had just opened. He was very curt gave me incorrect information and was generally unfriendly. It was the only experience I've ever had here that gave me pause about coming back. I had a coworker take me here claiming that they were one of the best sandwich spots in San Francisco. And while I haven't been to enough to say that they're right, they're certainly not wrong. The shop is super cute, with large windows letting in plenty of light. The place is colorful yet minimalist. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about their menu. I got the shrimp salad hoagie. These sandwiches are absolutely huge, definitely something you could share, although I admit I finished my entire sandwich and I took home half of someone else's. We each started with a glass of wine. I got the Skin contact (orange wine) and my friend got the Picpoul white wine. Both were yummy! We split the chopped salad and the Italian American hoagie. Both were delicious! Everything comes out in a reasonable amount of time and the service we had was great. Their portions are quite large so I definitely recommend splitting if you want to try multiple sandwiches or dishes. Lastly, we ordered two brown butter chocolate chip cookies. Takeout order: Garlic roast pork broccolini hoagie and a gem salad. Roast pork hoagie was HUGE, flavorful, and tasty! The broccolini contrasted the sweet garlic pork and was a good start. I see that the Italian hoagie was the popular choice but I cannot get past roast pork if I see it on the menu. The gem salad was perfectly dressed and balanced with romaine, goat cheese, avocado, pear and garlic croutons. I appreciate fresh made garlic croutons any time. Packaging: The takeout packaging was great but there was some leakage from the hoagie. Good point is That's what happens when the roast pork is so juicy and unctuous. Best to eat it there or hopefully you live nearby (not me). But not a problem for me. Palm City Wines is a hipster, clean setting but staff was nice, friendly and efficient. Food speaks volumes. This is definitely one of those spots that I wish I had came with a larger appetite. The portions are huge, one sandwich could have easily been split amongst two people. The menu is rather simple, you have a few different sandwich and appetizer options. I was recommended the shrimp salad and it was absolutely unlike anything else I've ever had. It's filled with prawns and is absolutely delicious. Everything you want in a sandwich, including some very stellar bread. Again, the portions are huge, and the sandwich itself is something you are going to wish you could unhinge your jaw to bite into. Parking around the area was semi-difficult as we came on the day and timeframe where they were doing street cleaning so a lot of the surrounding parking was off-limits. I love the airy, woodsy interior, and it's the kind of place you can really linger and chat with friends for a while. And then there are the hoagies. I've been meaning to come here for so long to try their hoagies, and even though I wasn't hungry, I knew I had to get some hoagies to go. Ended up trying the roast pork and the au poivre. Man were these huge hoagies - ended up lasting us 2-3 meals. The roast pork was well balanced by the broccoli rabe and provolone, but it is a heavy + oily sandwich, so be prepared. My boyfriend really liked his au poivre, the apples were a nice touch of sweetness (though tbh I didn't love the pairing of the crunchy apple with the beef) and he especially liked the peppercorn aioli. Reminded him of an elevated french dip.
