Since COVID we've tried to patronize local businesses, so this morning my wife and I wanted breakfast and we stopped by the Corner Bakery. After ordering, we were quoted our total, then the cashier walked away. Finally somebody else came to the register and asked to take our order. I pointed out that we had ordered and needed to pay. That should have been our warning. We planned to eat on their patio so they gave us a call buzzer and we sat down to wait. I should mention that the only other customers was another couple waiting for their food. After waiting 15 minutes for a couple of eggs and toast I went to the counter. The food was sitting on the counter and they gave it to me. I had to ask for the beverages they had forgotten. We sat down to eat and realized there was no silverware. Back to the counter. I got the silverware but no apology. OK, whatever. Sat back down and realized that there was no salt and pepper or butter or jelly for the dry toast. Back to the counter again. When I got back to the table, my wife informed me that her food was ice cold and she just wanted to take it home and put it in the microwave. Back to the counter a fourth time for a bag to take everything home. I had to ask two people behind the counter before I got a bag. TERRIBLE service here with cold food make this a place we won't be going back to. And if COVID puts them out of business, I won't shed a tear for them. BTW, both of us were supposed to get fruit cups with our meals, we only got one. Total amateur hour here. read more

I have been an occasional customer for years at this location. I usually order an entree sometimes with salad. They've added new items to the menu and altered the recipes that called for garlic butter. All in all, not good changes.. The new pasta dishes: pasta with vegetables and asparagus; and Pasta Rosa with chicken are lacking in flavor. I don't recommend either one. Asparagus can be tough and chewy, so only the tips should be used in a casserole dish, not the ends of the stalks which are tough and fibrous chewy. Don't order this. Ditto for Pasta Rosa which has 1-1/2 ounces of "grilled" chicken. No, it isn't grilled; it's the same, boring thin sliced processed deli chicken and not much of it either. Also, the pasta entrees used to come with garlic buttered toast; however, they've cut down on their butter, so you get an imitation garlic margerine with the toast and any other entree that calls for garlic butter, such as the Chicken Carbonara. Tasteless! Better stick to the salads, soups, and sandwiches here. read more

Parking....parking is great here since it's in a big shopping center no need to drive around and look for parking. I usually always find convenient parking. Service...there service here is always top notch hence the reason why I keep coming back. Down to asking what's good to them recommending different food for you to try. Food...always been great here. Fresh produce and bread. Went with the GF both had soup I had cheesy broccoli and she had chicken tortilla. In which she said it was by far the best chicken tortilla soup she has had. It is what it is - if you don't expect a lot you won't be disappointed. The food is standard for a chain coffee/lunch place. The ordering takes place at the counter, and the menu is huge, plus they've added a bunch of new combos/light offerings that are posted all over the place in tiny font. They need to figure this out because you can't really see anything until you are standing at the counter and feel like you need to rush. I ordered one of the new flatbread sandwiches and the insides were pretty good, but the bread was gummy and cold. The side edamame salad was the best thing I had there - really nice seasoning and it was a good portion. The menu is super confusing and it ended up that we ordered things that could be combined into one of their special combos - the girl kept saying, "do you want that as a tri-something" and it took me a while to figure out what she was talking about - really, it's not up to me to memorize your newest marketing schemes... It's a solid go-to for breakfast, lunch, free wifi and they don't rush you out. Tons of parking. The place seems well cared for and we were asked if we needed anything else several times. read more

I love watching those 30 second commercials bought by the Tourism Board for some humdrum state that you've never had the smallest inkling to ever visit. I start to look beyond the panning scenic vistas and smiling faces of families from a 90's United Colors of Benetton ad and start to think how people would react when I tell them that I'm taking a few days off to visit some far away land of total bewilderment like Wyoming or Delaware. "Oh, do you have family there?" I would get asked. I suppose I'd try to ignore the obvious inference that no person in their right mind would ever travel there without having some sort of serious obligation. "No, no. I saw a commercial and thought I'd visit for the rich history, natural beauty and tempting outdoor adventures," I would respond with my rehearsed answer. The feeling I think I would have in taking those first few steps off the plane and started to look around is the same feeling I get when I first walk into a Corner Bakery and catch a glance of the menu. You're as unhappy as when someone puts your cake out in the rain, and all the sweet green icing flows down and then you lose the recipe, and on top of that you can't sing worth a damn. read more

Good food, good service, and a hard working manager. I had a great experience here today. The workers have great teamwork. The manager I believe his name is Sarad. He was doing some paperwork on one of the tables, but was still attentive. When he saw customers needed some help. Instead of waiting for one of the workers to help. He got up and helped the customers. He did the same thing when I needed to refill my decaf coffee, because it was being brewed. First let me clear the air. I like corner bakery and their food, and *Most Locations* are just fine. I'm a fan of corner bakery. However, this location in Torrance has service of an internment camp. There are like 5 workers in there and 2 people sitting in the restaurant and nothing gets done. I've been here 3 times now, and each time I have to wait for effing half an hour or more for a salad and a sandwich. Trust me, it's not that hard to make one. Everytime I'm there, they eff up the order... and not in my favor. This time we're missing garlic bread, last time it was the wrong size soup, etc. etc. Each time the manager gives me some B.S. about how oh sometimes there's a mistake, bla bla. How about every single time I come to this location you guys try to give me ulcers by effing me over? The first time we waited for like 40 minutes after ordering a to-go order. I keep asking if our food is ready yet and keep getting told they'll notify me when it is. Like 20 min later, the manager takes my request and takes a look and then tells me, "Yea it's right here... it's been ready for a while. I don't know why they didn't tell you." Thanks a-hole. Another time, the person says something like, "Oh yea, every once in a while they take the order but don't give it to the kitchen. They're supposed to, though." Oh, great. I thought they weren't supposed to do their jobs. Now I feel better for having wasted almost an hour of my life. When I tell them about this, they just say, "Oh, sorry." Umm, I'm telling you nicely that your crappy store isn't doing it's job and needs to improve customer service, not that my friggin goldfish died. How about taking some action instead of giving me a half-assed apology. Just got to town and haven't unpacked anything from a single box. I took our kids down here in desperate need of pancakes. Victory. The kids loved the pancakes. The people were friendly and cool to my kids who always make a mess (and a lot of noise). The other diners were cool (I think lots of them fresh out of church). We'll be here regularly now, probably forever. And what I like most about this place, besides the pancakes, is that it really does feel like a neighborhood cafe. That's not easy to do. This place is mediocre. Reminds me of a panera with Parisian decor. My food tasted good. The Mac and cheese was a good portion for the panini combo. Unfortunately all the roasted vegetables in my panini were straight out of the refrigerator cold. The bread was warm and the cheese had started to melt but cold veggies?! I didn't want to be that customer to bring back a quarter eaten sandwich and no one asked me how I was doing so I was left to eat a cold panini. My first Corner Bakery Cafe I went to was in Chicago, and my family and I came in here by accident, actually. We were so satisfied with the food here as we had an early brunch and came here a few more times during our vacation. Coming back to Cali, it was slightly disappointing that there weren't many chain cafes like this around. But, it's quite exciting that they're continuing this chain in many places, now! I discovered this Corner Bakery about a year back, and I always come out deeply satisfied by every dish I try here! Their paninis and pastas are great here, and I recently tried their lemon chicken orzo soup, which was simply phenomenal!! This place is great for breakfast, but their lunch and dinner menus are great too! Perfect for those who want something light as well as their salads are good! I would recommend the power panini here as it's low in calories but has a lot of items in it (sausage, egg, etc). Their new pancakes are great too! Service is great here as staff is very friendly. The owner is chatty and super nice as well as he often talks to customers. I love the location of this place as it's so close to other great restaurants as well! I find this place very yummy! I've been here about three times and each time I've had something different and they've all been great. So just so you yelpers know, here are my dishes Ive gotten: 1. I forget the name but its a panini with turkey, bacon, melted cheese and i think avocado, came with chips and a cup of chilli, all were very yummy! 2. 1/2 panini 1/2 salad combo - i got the pesto panini and ceasar salad, also very yummy and probably best worth your money deal! 3. I got the breakfast panini - bacon, cheese and avocado and it came with very delicious breakfast potatoes! My first experience with Corner Bakery was a birthday scavenger hunt for my boyfriend who is new to California. As I wasn't able to be there with him, I pre-ordered a breakfast for him (Anaheim Scrambler and a variety of sweets) and sent him on a birthday adventure with only the address in hand. He loved it. We decided to come back for a sit-down breakfast. The interior looks like any other trendy coffee/breakfast place. Quite busy for my taste but quiet enough. We each ordered an Anaheim Scrambler, a coffee and iced tea for him and a capp for me. He decided to go with the Maple Pecan Bar as well. The counter staff was friendly and efficient. We were pleased with the counter service and sat down at our table and waited. After getting his drinks and preparing them as he liked, he brought them to the table. I love my coffee and am pretty choosy when it comes to coffee (but will drink any coffee if I must). The tea and coffee were rich, bold and deep flavoured. Strong, just as I like it. I was pretty happy. Our breakfast arrived. Super tasty, well seasoned, fresh. The espresso was as good as the coffee. Will definitely be back again. read more

On 8/8/2015 around 12:00pm at the first counter walking-in from the main entrance, below is my recent experience at Corner bakery. Food was okay, but services was poor.... Probably won't come back again!!!!! First time visitor, had question about the menu; however received no help from ordering staff at counter. That was not the worst of all. Besides getting no help, the ordering staff had attitude, impatient and unfriendliness. Perhaps, she had a bad day. That does not justify her behavior to customers...... we were in Corner Bakery Cafe yesterday for breakfast and found that once again, we had to wipe down a table in order to find a place to sit. While the food is generally very good, (which is why we have been going back), we have found that the staffing over the past few months has not been sufficient during breakfast or lunch to clean the tables after people leave. I don't mind pitching in, but I don't feel that wiping a dirty table down with a napkin is actually getting it clean. On a more positive note, the food is quite good. The chicken pomodori is particularly good and the Berry Almond Swiss oatmeal is a great breakfast. While I like the Corner Bakery Cafe, I may become less of a regular if the problem with the dirty tables continues. If it were not for this, I would have given the place 4 stars. read more

Scanning through the menu supported my initial thoughts -- signature sandwiches, specialty salads, grilled paninis, and an assortment of bakery goodies. It's a good thing, tho, because I actually happen to like Panera. Breakfast at the Corner... Quite a few choices - breakfast scramblers, scrambled egg sandwiches, oatmeal yogurt. I ordered the Anaheim Panini [eggs, bacon, tomatoes, green onions, avocado, and cheddar cheese grilled on sourdough]. Added fresh fruit to make it a Corner Breakfast Combo (as my friend said, "Fruit mixed with vodka just doesn't cut it"). The panini was served warm and was quite tasty.
