I did not enjoy my food here, my partner did. I only liked the sausage, I found my french toast to be very dry. I also asked for no bananas and they quite literally hid them under whip cream specifically. Thank God I'm not allergic, they just overpower anything they are in and I tasted them immediately what a terrible thing to do to a customer. The real issue came with checking out. My partner, ask for the checked, she brought it and he immediately handed her his card. She takes it and starts to go but then the table next to us flags her down and she literally stops dead in her tracks to take care of them. Im talking taking full orders, answering questions etc meanwhile we are staring at her in disbelief. We have never had this happen to us in a restaurant. My partner said shes just a bad waitress, I believe it was implicit bias. At least im choosing to believe that over outright prejudice. Everything in her told her she could not leave these white people waiting while she wrapped up a check, but we, the black people absolutely could wait. It was just so bizarre. She was standing there that long with the other table with my partners card and check in hand that at one point she even glanced up because again, we have never experienced service like this and just blatantly held hostage while she tended to people she deemed more important. This was our only experience like this in Newport, we will back to Newport but will not be back here.

Honestly, this place is worth the wait in line. The line actually goes pretty quick. This was our first stop once we got to Newport early that morning. I am such a traditionalist when it comes to breakfast, as long as I am not at a Mexican restaurant. So my goto would be two eggs overeasy, sausage, bacon, some sort of potato side, toast and a side of pancakes, and that's why I ordered The Beast. When somone else at the table gets something different they are always kind enough to share, which what happened at our table that morning The son-in-law order an omelete and I want to say it had salmon in it, and he let me have a piece and it was delishes. Our daughter ordered a sweet breakfast called the Portley's Portuguese French Toast, she liked it. The service was great, fast and efficient. The place is small but it works. They only have one restroom, so you will have to wait for it. I would definintely come back for breakfast.

Actually pretty good. We came here to enjoy tennis at the Newport Hall of famed and wanted brunch beforehand They're very, very, very small place. It's very tight. The line goes around the corner. Since it was just the two of us. They moved us ahead and had a seated at the bar which is not my preferred seating. But whatever. Maybe because it was Sunday and brunch hours were prime. California special Benedict. It came with avocado, toast, spinach, roasted vegetables, home fries. I added some pork sausage. It was a lot of food. I couldn't finish it all. I also got a cup of tea. They're tee options are not great. The other complaint I would have is that their bathroom is really insufficient. They have one bathroom for the entire establishment which is not acceptable. They actually have a waitlist for the bathroom. WTF. I get that they're small but they really need to fix that. That's not going to fly when they're very busy, especially during brunch hours. I don't know what their parking situation is but most of it's on the street and on Sunday it's free. Overall I think the price is okay given the quality of the food. All of my food plus my friends was over $60. It's a little bit on the high side if you ask me but given the food was tasty, I'll let it slide. I think if you're in the area you should give it a shot

Love the food here. I ordered the california Benny. Potato is well season with pepper. Love the poach eggs, with spinach and pepper. Wife got the victoria omlette, which i think is ok, but she loved it. Kids got the French toast and pancake. They both love the food, and pretty much cleaned the plate. We sat in the corner, which is fitting since the name of the restaurant is corner cafe. It is a cute spot, like sitting in a bay window. Service is very attentive.

This restaurant is a must go to if you're in Newport, RI! There's always a line, but it's worth the wait and it moves so fast! The service is the best I've seen! The owner checked on our table and the waiter was so attentive. The ambiance was very comforting. There's a lot of people fit into a small space, but it still feels so spacious. The food is amazing! They give you great portions, it comes out hot, and it's very flavorful. There's a variety of options which makes it so hard to choose from. I wish I could eat here every morning.

Great service. Delicious breakfast! This is a very cute place but does get busy but we were able to be seated within 10 minutes. Food came out fast as well and service was wonderful. The breakfast was really good and the potatoes were some of the best I've had in a while. Tried the cowboy scramble but there's a lot of unique options! If you're staying in the area, it's a short walk and worth it !!!

My friend and I were in the area on a weekday to visit the Audrain Automobile Museum and based on some reviews, we decided to have some breakfast here beforehand. It's a cute place, with plenty of parking in the area and about a dozen tables inside. Although it was a busy, the food came out at a good time and the service was good. I decided to have a typical breakfast - potatoes, English muffin, eggs, and bacon with an order of French toast for dessert. I was mostly excited about the potatoes because of what other customers commented; I was pleased with the pesto like flavor they had. The bacon was cooked well, but on the thinner end. The English muffin was grilled with butter, delicious. The French toast was simple, and regular bread was used (instead of the thick bread) so the syrup was able to penetrate through better. I would be happy to come back and try other items since their menu has a lot to offer.

Adorable cafe in Newport. Cozy small got here very early and didn't have to wait but you could see how busy it could get. We're in the off-season too! Sweetest wait service .. love the accent!!! food was very yummy. Price is really reasonable. I definitely must go to for breakfast when in the area.

What a cute place! Beth was an awesome server who, thankfully, told me to try the Wooten's French Toast with the DELICIOYS, homemade Pecan Maple Butter before using syrup... great advice! I had 2 eggs over easy on the side as well. It is a popular place with delicious and unique food, so expect a line outside. YUMMY!

We heard so much about this place and finally got to try it out! We waited outside for about 10 minutes, and we're seated in a really nice comfy booth. Service was very good, all staff were friendly and kind! The food was decent. Really depends on what you get. The California Benny was delicious, perfectly poached egg, fresh ingredients with peppers and spinach. Home fries are the large potato kind. Do not recommend multigrain French toast with apples.. The mix of ingredients did not gel well at all. But the staff was very kind and gave us our money back! On the other hand, the spice chai latte was delicious! We wanted to come back and get it to go, too bad they do not take to go orders.

There was quite a line when we arrived, but we were seated in about 15 minutes. There was seating indoors & outdoors, but we chose outdoors because the indoor seating was quite dim. We ordered the egg, bacon, and potato sourdough plates & the Longhorn burger with fries, and the pancakes topped with yogurt, raspberry, blueberry, and blackberry. Everything was delicious. The potatoes were especially well seasoned, and the Longhorn burger was cooked perfectly. All the portions were good. The service was excellent. It was sometimes hard because our server was inside, but she was very nice. FYI, there are a lot of bees outside so be aware!!!

One of the best brunch places I have ever been to. From the food to the service to the atmosphere, Corner Cafe is an must go-to in Newport. My friends and I went on a Sunday morning and even during the brunch rush, the wait for the place was not bad at all. We sat down and were very impressed by the large selection of breakfast and lunch foods. My friends and I ordered the Ovos Acores, Huevos Rancheros, the West Coast, California Benny, and the Home Fries Fiesta. ALL AMAZING! Not only is the food tasty and savory, the portion sizes were very generous. Some of my friends really struggled to finish it. I cannot rave about how good all the food is here. I got to try a couple bites from each dish and truly enjoyed everything. The service was fantastic as everyone who helped us was super nice and helpful. They make a really efficient use of the space, but it doesn't feel cramped at all. If you are ever in Newport, I highly recommend the Corner Cafe! read more

They serve the tastiest freshly squeezed orange juice I have ever drank in my entire life. Their waitress Beth is so friendly and very welcoming. I ordered a grilled cheese with fries because that's just what I was in the mood for. My party was the size of 3 people including myself. We waited 5 minutes. The seating is outdoors now of course all due to the pandemic. I definitely will return to visit this fine establishment. read more

All I can say is this.....one of the best, if not the best breakfast I've ever had. Keep in mind this is a breakfast (and lunch) joint not the Ritz. That being said, FANTASTIC, breakfast. I had the Dodgy Bob, chorizo omelet and it was so good. Great coffee too in a large mug. We're in Newport a few time a year and can't wait to go back. read more

We come to the Corner Cafe every trip we make to Newport - sometimes twice. They have an outstanding menu - very creative. It's very cozy and the people are very friendly. The Portuguese Scrambler is by far the best. And I can't not mention their potatoes - whatever they do to them - they are phenomenal. Get here early, the line grows quickly. The Details: When there's a line for a brunch spot at 10AM on a Saturday, you know it's going to be good. The three of us absolutely loved our meals! Looking for good food away from the harbor area over run with boat show people this weekend. Found just what I wanted at the Corner Cafe. Took a seat at the bar and greeted by Molly who was really hustling with lots of tables, but was very pleasant anyway. One of the specials that evening was a Portuguese fish stew. Took awhile to get it on this busy Saturday night but boy was it worth it. Tasty seasoned broth with big chunks of white fish, sausage, and plenty shrimp and mussels in a large soup bowl. Garlic toast on the side was just right. Couldn't eat another thing after this dish although the desserts I saw looked delicious. Corner Cafe lived up to its high star reputation! read more

The French toast was melting with flavor. The eggs Benedict were full of delicious flavor and the sliced pastries were amazing! I ate them all and I don't even like potatoes much at all! This place is great and clean. They have put up social distancing screens that are made from wood and a plastic screen. Very well made and matches the atmosphere, highly recommended ! read more

One of our favorite spots in Newport. A secret little hideaway in the busy Newport streets. The staff works very well as a team and are very friendly and make you feel like you have known them forever. It is BYOB with a couple dollar cork fee per person...no alcohol on the menu. Breakfast is served all day in which often frequents our plates. The dirty chai is delicious. Burgers are great such as the black bean burger. Burritos are awesome...basically all items are great. Ingredients are fresh and local and many gluten free options and vegetarian options. Truly a gem and one of our favorite spots! read more

I found this place on yelp and decided to give it a try. Im so glad I did, it might be my new favorite breakfast place while visiting Newport. The employees were all very nice and you could see them all work as a team. The service was quick and the food was delicious. The employees moved fast and the flipped tables fast. They have a pretty diverse menu so it was hard to pick what I wanted as everything looked so good. I ended up going with the make your own omelette and it was really good. If you're in the area and looking for a breakfast place this is definitely the place to go. They do have outdoor seating but it's only a couple of tables. The Indoor seating is small so if you had a large party it may feel crammed. But the food and Sevice is worth it! I will definitely be back when I'm in town read more

!Hello! Well, wasn't this a nice surprise. Sometimes ya just stay off "Main Street" and stop in a ma and pop's place and they blow you away. Not only is the menu expansive, but good! Interesting combinations of ingredients are used. The girls are friendly and it seems as though cleanliness was most important to the staff. We had just come from a Little Compton area upscale restaurant and were still hungry for lack of food choices. We were headed for The Red Parrot down town. Traffic stopped us so we decided to try a simple place...so glad! Hidden gem here! Keep it up...we're coming back soon! read more

The corner cafe is a cozy spot serving a delicious breakfast/brunch . We went back it was that good . The first day I had one of the omelettes that was a special . It had pesto , tomato , goat cheese and shrimp in it . There were home fries and a choice of toast . The home fries were red potato , skins on , seasoned and cubed . They were seasoned and cooked just right . There was too much to finish . Also had the fresh squeezed orange juice ...delicious. The next visit , was the California Benny .there is a reason it is a favorite , it is very flavorful. I had berries instead of the home fries and was happy with it all . read more

Amazing restaurant! I got the ovos acores and my boyfriend got the corn beef hash omelet (special) and both were delicious. For a Saturday morning Memorial Day weekend the wait was only 5 minutes. The service was great so they were turning over tables so quickly! We got the mudslide latte and I got the creamy hazelnut latte. BEST coffees we've had, definitely recommend this place. We will definitely be back, probably tomorrow . read more

Wow great food here! Small cafe on Broadway (which I'm so happy to see so much improved over the past few years!). Super nice people here and absolutely fabulous breakfasts. We ordered the ovos acores, two omelettes and a breakfast plate with scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast. Man these potatoes, so good!!! Was visiting with family and didn't have phone out so no pics but trust me when I say go here for breakfast!! read more

Best breakfast (and meal) we had during our stay in Newport! We arrived at 9am on a Wednesday and were seated immediately. Lovely service, good coffee. I ordered an omelette and my partner a scramble situation. They were huge portions, tasted like good diner food. But the possibilities to order healthy food seemed endless also. We waited about 20minutes at 9am. This place definitely gets crowded so plan accordingly! Ordered: California Benny: VERY GOOD. I would definitely order this again. The avocado and poached eggs were my favorite parts. The potatoes that come on the side are incredible! Wootens Sweetbread French Toast: DONT ORDER. There is nothing special about this. The pecans are in the butter and you can't really taste them at all. The bread itself is mildly sweet but just tastes like bread. This dish would be great for a picky eater who doesn't want much flavor. read more

This place seems like a pretty popular brunch spot, and for good reason! I had the California benny and the Portley's Portuguese french toast. Both of these dishes were delicious. We also ordered the home fry fiesta, which had some of the best home fries I have ever had! The ambience is comfy and casual, which is perfect for a brunch spot. The service was also pretty good. What a great cafe! The food and coffee are amazing. The staff is so friendly. There's a lot of charm here, the same level of charm you expect to see in a New England style diner. You're greeeted with a big smile and a hello like you're old friends. We got the Portuguese bread stuffed fresh toast and a ovos Azcores (chorizo benedict). Both were so full of flavor and super delicious. Add their lattes are out of this world. Next time you're in Newport, you need to stop by and grab a bite. read more

Terrific breakfast spot- omelettes and eggs Benedict excellent. Staff friendly and efficient although our waitress today seemed rushed and a bit impatient - the bus staff made up for it. Corner cafe is the ONLY place I will ever bring family & friends to when they visit newport! Today I went for brunch with my sister & our kids. We were seated in the back and everything was absolutely phenomenal. The owner, Jamey, came over to chat with us and made us feel so welcome! Our server, Signe, is a literal angel and was so knowledgeable about the menu. She made us feel right at home. Drinks and food came out promptly and perfect temperature. I got the portobello scrambler and I would die for those home fries. Our kids got the grilled cheese with fries from the kids menu. It was incredible. The ambiance is beautifully calm on a rainy day. Every time I go to corner café, I am left dreaming about it for the rest of the day. The people who work there and the food quality is absolutely phenomenal. Corner cafe is a must try! read more

This place was AMAZING! To be honest, I didn't know what exactly to expect based on the other reviews on yelp, but let me tell you that this place deserves 5 star across the board!!!! This place is a gem. Off the beaten path, this is the best place for breakfast in the Newport area. Don't let the wait deter you. The staff works like a well oiled machine getting you in and fed. We went with the specials. Eggs Benedict with avocado and smoke applewood bacon served with home fries and a generous portion of fresh berries was a winner. I wasn't thrilled with he hash browns. They seemed more like oven roasted red bliss potatoes and while they were tasty they left a huge pool of oil on my plate. The other special we tried was the seafood omelette with scallops, crabmeat and pesto sauce. Both dishes were packed with flavor. A must try if your in the area. read more

What an AMAZING spot for breakfast. It gets busy quick, but man is it worth it. Let me start off with the potatoes... Those homefries are some of the best I have ever had. I believe they toss them with a pesto of some sort but I could not get enough of them. Ok, so now that I got that off my chest lets back it up a bit. When we arrived they had about a 15min wait. They lady that took our names could not be more lovely. As we sat outside and waited for our name to be called they came around with a tray of little hot chocolates. What a special treat! They also have a bunch of propane heaters out there so you can huddle close and try to stay warm on those cool winter days. I got the beast or something like that. - 2 eggs cooked to order (I got over Medium) - Toast (I opted for Bolo) - Homefries (Literally the best I have ever had. Did I mention that already?) - Choice of 2 meats - sausage, bacon, chourico, bangers, ham or rashers. This is a small but popular place. I went here on a Saturday evening after covering cliffwalk. It was still busy but I didn't have to wait. I am sure if I went earlier I would have to wait. Food taste good here. One general observation is the salt level in food is slightly low here. There was salt in the table. So it was ok. I ordered coffee and it came with fresh milk in a small glass bottle. I felt that was very nice. California Benny was really good. Bistro scrambler was good too. This used to be one of our favorite places to go in Newport. One of the few places we would make sure to visit every time we came to town. We caught the tail end of a small rush that just filled all the tables. The manager showed us the clipboard where he wrote our name and said "you're first on the list. Wait outside and we'll call you." A small crowd had formed at the door, and more people were added to the list. We waited as a table in the window cleared out. The manager took a party of two to the bar. No problem. Our party of 4 couldn't have fit there. Then he came to seat the large table in the window. He called a party of three with no explanation to us. I should have spoken up, but I figured an experienced manager like him who I know has been there for years could handle a wait list. The other party was probably a group of regulars, and he figured it was better for business. Bad customer service is worse than a mistake on a food order. I'm a big eater and don't often leave any food left on a plate. However I've found myself walking away from a third of a bacon and cheese omelet for the second time! I can say with absolute certainty that the Corner C puts out the largest breakfest plates in town! The homefries are fresh and cooked on olive oil and are delectable. The staff is always pleasant and attentive to your needs, and I should also mention my gigantic omelet came in under six bucks which is more than a steal on this island. If you like breakfast, you'll LOVE Corner Cafe- an Irish breakfast place with some very creative and tasty menu items. I'm a regular here and it's just wonderful. When I moved away from Newport my breakfasts here were probably the thing I missed most. The atmosphere is homey and the food is great. The proprietors work in the restaurant and are very friendly. Mary especially makes even visitors feel like regulars. And even though the cooks have changed over the almost ten years I have been a patron, the food has stayed consistently great. read more

We found the Corner Cafe online at Discover Newport, and we figured we had to give it a shot. We arrived at 7:10 right after they opened, and they only had a few tables available! We were able to be seated right away by Jade, and despite being at "capacity" the food came out quick. The omelets were massive and so good, and the home fries were fantastic. I ordered a breakfast burrito and couldn't have been more satisfied. If your visiting Newport this place needs to be on your list. read more

We LOVED this little cafe. It feels like home and the staff was so friendly and the food was delicious. The juice was fresh juiced and fantastic. It's byob for $3 per person, bring a bottle of champagne or a small bottle of gin for a quick brunch cocktail. This will definitely be our lunch spot each week when we officially move here in the fall. read more

Ok I know the service is a little slow but it is well worth the wait. We generally go to this cafe a few times a week and it is always a relaxing environment and the food is great. We only have breakfast there so not sure about lunch or dinner but know they always have special running in the winter months. read more

Its very european style ,cozy and charming cafe. I ordered veggi wrap from Healtyzone section of the menu with bowl of fresh fruit. It was delicious and filling ! The food here is fantastic, creative and healthy too. read more
