My wife told me about this Persian food place and we finally made it over the President Holiday weekend. The market is run by a super friendly couple. My picky kids love the foods! The side salads were crunchy and delicious especially with the house dressing. Light salted Saffron rice was just right to go with the entree. The entree was a char-boiled ground beef sirloin and it was fresh and amazingly juicy. This is our second time coming back to the same restaurant in one week. We came back for Lamb shank Friday special. The lamb was amazingly cooked and the meat easily fall out from the bone. The gravy was good but a little too much oil floating on the gravy. The rice was amazing cooked and seasoned nicely. I like the cucumber, tomato and onion side dish. I am not getting paid for this but seriously this is a must visit place. We tried the rose ice cream for dessert. It was amazingly good too. You should take the ice cream out of their icebox as soon as you order your main dish as it takes time to melt. Honestly, this is a great place if you like to try good food. read more

When I thought the Corner Grill couldn't get any better, they upped themselves. I ordered my usual yesterday and was it ever delish! However this time they threw in a piece of tahdig. It's a rare find to get tahdig from a restaurant as it's the crusty rice at the bottom of the pot. I've only had it before at a friend's house when he made a Persian meal. After being completely disappointed and disgusted with my dinner from last night at North Park Produce just down the street; I still had the craving for a good Persian meal and quickly found out they serve hot food here after a quick search on Yelp. Seeking a Persian Princess and a good meal I made it in for lunch, ordered the #6 and was shocked when he said it'll be 15 minutes for my order. Not because of the wait time itself, but because the food was being put on as I ordered and wasn't just under a heat lamp. I gladly waited and saw flames erupt giving off an amazing smell as my food cooked on the grill. I could sense this would be #Naughty and something I had to tell my Yelp friend Emma about. Took the food home and everything was moist, fresh, and had good flavor. Probably one of the best places for this type of food in North County but far from being a personal favorite based off the other amazing places I've been to. I saved half my plate for later in the day... surprisingly even after microwaving it, the food was still tender and juicy. We LOVE corner grill. After a recommendation from a friend it has quickly become our favorite weeknight and dinner/lunch to go option but you can also sit inside or on the patio. The food is delicious, plentiful and the service is unbeatable. Hamad and his team are wonderful. I appreciate how kind they all are, even offering to carry my food out when I tow my toddler in and am short on hands. We love the koobidah and chicken skewers. The food is amazingly delicious! I am persian and I have lived in Texas and different cities of California, I can say the kebabs here are veryy close the what you get in Iran. We especially like the chicken kebab as it's very juicy and tasty. I also like the Barg(Filet) kebab. They put a very generous portion of rice in each plate and the rice itself is super aromatic and delicious! I also like the market and hospitality of the owner; he is always nice and welcoming and pays special attention to your orders and requests. I got a few more things from the store the cashier was rude had my items all over the counter front n back,of where she should have moved it to to the front to be bagged. I had 2 American Close friends whom they asked for Persian kabab, I order 4 dished to go from North county International market, when we opened the case, a cockroach jumped out of the food which was Rice and Kababs, Not only nobody touched the food but I also I got so embraced in front of my guests. Then we ordered Pizza Since that time, I am thinking: 1-Why he does not have a kitchen? 2-If he has the kitchen where is it? 3- Why he does not cook at the place the customer can see what he is doing? 4-was my food cooked at somewhere else and warmed up at his place? 5-How old was my food? 6- How long cockroach was in there? I was curious about the side salad that came with the meal which included a chunk of raw onions and mint. I enjoyed the mint, but the onion was just too overpowering to consume after one nibble. Seems very authentic. The market itself is quite basic, and bare. Interiors could probably use a little work. But really, just learn to enjoy a meal in a different setting, right? read more

This is definitely a hidden treasure that deserves to be discovered. I love Persian food and this market is like heaven to me. I go to school and work around this part of town and before I discovered this market, I'd be mad that I wasn't a UCLA student because UCLA is near a lot of Persian restaurants and markets. Don't worry, I'll attend UCLA in the future to get my Master's degree Anyways, back to the review. I can now finally get my Persian food fix on my lunch break!! Salam! I have frequented this market many a time... they have reasonable prices for Arabic foods that I can't get anywhere else around here!!! I ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS buy my pita bread from here... its less than a dollar for one pack! At the "regular" supermarkets around here carry fake a$$ pita bread and to top it off, they charge you like 4 bucks... that's why International Market is my lovely little gem in Vista. Other things that I like purchasing from this market are: "Bulgarian" cheese by the pound.. (very similar taste to feta), fava beans, and fresh olives by the pound as well. I havent really bought any meats from here, however I do wish they carried "luncheon"... an Egyptian bologna style lunch meat that I love love love! This place carries a bunch of authentic food - true. But beware! Lots of these products still sit on shelves long beyond their expiration date. I bought Russian candy and half of it was either crumbling as if attacked by termites or weathered with white stain when chocolate sits in warehouse way too long. When I was about to eat herring (salted fish) that i got from them, it smelled funny... sure enough product's best before date was over a month ago! Never coming back again! read more

In the Vista Place Shopping Center hidden away in the Southwestern corner of the mall (see photo) there is a nice little market that sells both Russian and Persian food. On the Russian side, there is a deli that sells all sorts of sausages and cheeses. They also sell frozen pelmeni, eggplant caviar, all the usual Russian grocery suspects. There is also a bunch of Persian items - I'm less familiar with those so I can't really describe them but I do like their sodas and snacks. I also always get a plate to go of one of their Persian grilled plates. They have all sorts of combination plates. Chicken Kabob, Koobideh (an Iranian minced meat kabab which is made from ground lamb, beef or chicken), or Barg (meat cut in strips and given a marinade in olive oil, onions, garlic, saffron, salt and black pepper - then skewered and grilled). You also get either bread or rice as well as a grilled tomato and raw onion. They also throw in some butter and a packet of sumac to put over the rice. Very reasonably priced. It usually takes me two days to finish one of their meals if I don't share. read more

First time visting Corner Grill ( Medditerranian Cafe ) with my husband. It was an awesome and delightful experience! Reasonably priced menu. Great variety of dishes to choose from. Tender meat items and vegetarian options. Clean and very tasteful! Fresh! Comforting black tea with rose water is a big treat! It is tucked in the corner so it's worth taking your time to find it located in mini strip mall. Decor needs improvement but not a top priority. Friendly and great service. Good cute place! A bit small, but fair prices that compete. I like to go both here a and to the larger North County Produce across the street. This one is smaller and more personal, and the other one has more options!
