I feel like this restaurant is confused. They offer American food on one menu and then they have a second menu that offers Korean food. I ordered the Korean fried chicken and that was fresh and delicious. My husband ordered the Korean bulgogi rice plate and the meat was very dry and was not grilled as is traditional. The service was great! It is a walk up order type of place but that wasn't made clear to us. We were given menus and told to sit wherever (most people were sitting outside so we chose to sit there as well) we waited and waited and then noticed a couple ordering at the register and were given a number. So after waiting for someone to take our order we went up to the counter. We were in town visiting for the weekend. We ate here for breakfast and there's a lot of potential. However, there's also some issues. First issue: no heat. The thermostat said 62 degrees in the main dining area, and 58 degrees in the bathroom hallway. I don't actually care if they make the bathroom area cold but it's embarrassing for a business to keep the dining room temperature at 62 degrees to save on heat. I even spoke to the person behind the register to ask if the temperature can be warmer but they didn't do anything. We all ended up eating in our jackets and it still felt cold. Second issue: the croffles look wonderful presentation wise but were super cold. I do not think the waffles were freshly made, I think they were premade and refrigerated, then when you order, they take it out of the fridge and add the toppings. The croffle would be an absolute delight if it could be served warm. One positive aspect was the breakfast sandwhich, which was served warm and the ingredients looked fresh and tasted very good. I would get this sandwich again. We paid $4 extra for a side of tater tots which were enjoyable. If the restaurant can fix the two issues of making the dining experience more pleasant and serving the croffle warm, I would be happy to return and try more items. My family just tried this relatively new restaurant for brunch on Sunday and so glad we did! It was a beautiful day out and even though there were plenty of tables inside and out, my daughter opted to eat inside. After you walk in, you order and pay before finding yourself a place to sit. We were in a bit of a rush since my daughter had a soccer game nearby, and the employee was very nice and said she would rush our order and put our drinks in to go cups even though we were dining there. The menu offers a variety of options to choose from, including Korean staples like fried chicken and rice cakes, as well as salads, burgers and croffles (cross between a croissant and a waffle). They also serve specialty coffees, boba teas, cocktails, beer and wine. We sampled the chicken croffle, fish and ships and shrimp fettucine alfredo. I must say, all the food was delicious! The fried chicken that went with the croffle was seasoned well and was very crispy, like it was double battered. I had never tried a croffle before, but it was really tasty! It came with sliced grapes and strawberries. My only complaint is that the dish was swimming in syrup. It wasn't overly sweet, but I would have preferred the syrup on the side. I'll know to order that next time! The fish and chips included 2 large pieces of fish and seasoned fries. The fish was pretty good, but the fries were excellent! At first I was reluctant to let my 8 year old order a $20 pasta dish, but with 5 large shrimps and prosciutto mixed in the sauce, it was definitely worth it. It was a generous portion and tasted like carbonara! Highly recommend! My daughter also ordered a mango drink with lychee jelly, which she enjoyed and I had an iced orange grapefruit black tea that was really refreshing. I was pretty impressed with Corner Kitchen. Happy to see that the place had a steady stream of customers coming in while we were dining there. I hope this place stays awhile! Looking for a quick bite on a Sunday morning, I found a new place in the Woodside Plaza. Not many reviews because it's only 3 months old. What a great find! Had a Loco Moco and Latte with almond milk. At first glance my mind said, "$21.99 for a Loco Moco? Yikes!" But then I read the description: Wagyu beef cutlet with vegetable fried rice and Demi-glace. Ok. We'll see. Then the food came steaming hot. The beef was a ground patty, but what a patty! Thick and flavorful! Demi-glace was delicious, not overly salted. The sunny side up fried egg had a bright orange yolk. The almond milk latte was frothy and hot, brought to my table by a smiling server. A little pricier than most, but the quality was elevated. I love supporting local small businesses so decided to give the corner table a try for dinner. The restaurant is located in a sleepy strip mall so it's easy to be missed. Portions are on the smaller side for the price but I know it's tough to run small businesses with decent margin. This might be due to the fact that they usually coat the chicken and I got the sauce on the side but even when I dipped the chicken into the sauce I still thought there was flavor missing from what I was anticipating from other KfC I've had. On the other hand the dish also came with coleslaw which I thought was well flavored and good so I might have to return to try a different dish. Overall, decent neighborhood spot. Went for weekday night dinner. It was pretty cold that night and they had all the doors open. The restaurant inside was freezing. Luckily we had brought our outdoor jackets so we just wore that inside. The croffle was probably the best thing on the menu. It came out hot but didn't stay that way for long. If the restaurant wasn't freezing it would have been amazing. The bibimbap was not bad. A little overpriced but expected as it's really the only Korean place in Redwood City. Closest other one is Kaya in Belmont. I personally didn't like that they used arugula in the bibimbap. But I guess it fits the fusion Korean food vibe. The tteobokki cream version sauce was quite good. Didn't think it was enough food for the price. Overall not bad for the first Korean place in Redwood City. The freezing restaurant was not great and if they had shut their doors and turned on the heater I would definitely be back for the croffles! The staff is lovely, offering recommendations if you ask, asking for feedback, and just being plain friendly, which is nice! I'm the one month that they have been open, they already seem to have regulars that they know on a first-name-basis, which is a great sign. We ordered the bulgogi bibimbap, and the All Day burger, and shared a Bare Bottle (local) beer. Everything was amazing, and in a twist, we couldn't even finish it all (ie: good sized portions). We arrived on a Sat at 12:15 pm and there was no wait. We walked up to the counter and were able to order right away. The only oddity was they told me they didn't have a veggie sandwich listed on the brunch menu. I don't think it has any ingredients you can't find in other items but we accepted the rejection. We ordered the crispy brussel sprouts (perfect texture, great with the sunflower seeds and the honey mustard sauce), the cronkle (ultra crispy fresh chicken breast with a dense waffle and cut fruit), the breakfast sandwich (it was the least exciting. The avocado was generous and ripe but the Chipotle sauce wasn't detectable as chipotle and a more exciting bread would've been nice), the Ube drinks are soooo good! We asked for extra ube and we got it for sure! The ube latte tastes like pure ube and isn't sweet so you must really like the 'root' taste. The milk tea is smooth and so strong with a delicious caramel brown sugar type flavor. Truly excellent! I reduced the atmosphere stars because like most establishments, their seating is hard seats and if you're like me and you can't sit on hard surfaces for very long, it's very uncomfortable. Our family went to have breakfast at this establishment. On the menu we ordered the cookies and cream croffle. Nowhere on the menu did it say the item contain nuts or Nutella. My son is severely allergic to tree nuts. They served the plate, immediately my son had a reaction, when we asked about the item, they denied it was Nutella, and said it was chocolate, upon tasting it, I confirmed it was Nutella and the server admitted to putting Nutella after saying it was just "regular chocolate". This lead to my son going into anaphylaxis and getting emergency care. No one in the establishment, including managers wanted to talk to me and when I spoke to the owner, I was expected to leave my information and the staff denied giving their information to our friends who stayed behind while we took our son to get cared for.
