    pot pie

My wife brought me here when we were visiting her hometown of Battle Creek. This place was a ton of fun and certainly is worth a visit. I imagine the next time we are here with our travel trailer that we will book well in advance to stay at their RV park on site. Cornewell's has a level of nostalgia that while I did not experience, I completely understand. The food was decent but honestly it wasn't phenomenal. I had the chicken pot pie and while the texture was pretty solid, it was rather bland. Aside from the food, they also have a fudge shop and a killer gift shop. The gift shop is a ton of fun and I couldn't help but purchase a few fun items. The wife and I will certainly be back again.

I was last here about 40 years ago. Needless to say, it has changed; I don't remember the giant gift shop or the ice cream parlor -- or all of the indoor seating, for that matter, but it certainly could have been there. Everything is pretty well-priced. I got the turkey salad plate (well, it's actually a plastic take-out container) and it was very good. Lettuce, shredded cheese, a whole egg and lots of thick sliced roasted and smoked turkey. It was a generous portion, and I ended up bringing some home. I was glad to find that their iced tea is freshly brewed every day, and it was good. I also had ice cream in the ice cream shop. Their ice cream is homemade, as are their waffle cones. I don't remember the name of the flavor I had, but it was something unique to Cornwell's Turkeyville. I got a "one scoop" waffle cone sundae, but it was easily 3 scoops of ice cream. My only complaint was that there was a hole in the bottom of the cone, so the ice cream dripped a little, and that the cone was so deliciously crisp that it broke when I bit it. Hardly an issue to be upset about!

Outdoor fundraiser event for Talons Out for Honor Flight did not disappoint!!! Great venue with plenty of room to roam, good food, live music and just a very warm feel to the place. On site camping for those who enjoy that, and a pretty cool restaurant and gift shop. A must see if in the area!!

Super quick service, you order at the counter after walking by pictures of your choices. I asked what is good and she said turkey, yes it should be and almost everything is turkey this or turkey that. We all went for the traditional meal. Meal comes with a vinegar based slaw side that was very tart. The cranberries were tasty and the meal was hot and a pleasant surprise to have a traditional November meal in February. Next door is a icecream parlor with their homemade flavors, to full this time but squeezed in a sample. It is jaunt out to Turkeyville and suspect it is busy in the summer with all the outdoor seating. Fun and unexpected dinner choice.

The waitress we had checked in regularly and made sure we had enough sauce and such. Superb manager. Im so used to not seeing a manager I forget they exist but the Applebees manager walked around and made sure everyone was doing alright. He even helped serve food. My food was great, nothing burned or distasteful and it didn't take a thousand years to arrive like other local restaurants. On the contrary, the other guy I was with ordered some steak and he complained afterwards that it was very fatty and chewy and how it was rather distasteful. I believe he ordered the steak medium so it may have been a fault on his part that it was chewy. Either way, it was admirable that everything was clean, even the bathrooms. Overall a positive review, nice job Applebees

Server took my friends out of state ID mistook it for a fake and refused to serve until cops came. Later said since the cops didn't come they can't hold it meaning the whole situation was for nothing. The second we left the cop immediately went to questioning my friend. Terrible service the server came back twice and that's it. Never been more uncomfortable at a restaurant and I'm a server at another establishment so I know this isn't normal. Staring at us the whole time. I never blame service workers as I am one but this is not normal as a misunderstanding ruined my friends day. Will definitely not be coming back! A lot of flies flying around our table as well. Happy birthday to my friend I guess.
