This cozy Italian restaurant may seem intimate when first walk in and see the main room, but if you keep going to the back, there is a large, gorgeous patio that was super happening!! I have been dying to go to Corto for as long as I could remember. I finally got the opportunity to go for the first time for an early dinner last Saturday with one of my friends. Although the menu is on the smaller end, there were many options to choose from. Our waiter was exceptional, very knowledgeable and let us know that some menu items change seasonally. We sat in the heated patio which surprisingly got very loud when dinner ramped up. My friend and I tried two appetizers, two pastas and shared a main and dessert. The basil and mint on the spicy rigatoni was refreshing. Our favorite for the table was the mezzeluna pasta. Corto's been my spot since 2019 and I don't see that changing anytime soon. If you're expecting a super American, chicken parm type of place, Corto is not that (but you will be pleasantly surprised!). Some of the best Italian food I've had was in Rome and this place is the only one in the area that can compare. The menu is small but mighty and there's more than enough for a nice date night or a dinner out with friends. It's byob so bring nothing or everything. Ambience in the restaurant is great, very intimate and cozy inside (did not see the outside space but can imagine it has the same vibe!). BYOB is a nice touch too, we even brought in some grape juice instead of wine haha. We started out with the burrata. Honestly was not a huge fan of this dish - they paired the burrata with balsamic glaze and vinegar-soaked strawberries which was not appealing to eat nor did it taste that great. Our next course included 2 pastas: their classic rigatoni and a pasta with a butter sauce and sausage. Both were good, the only thing that was not expected was the addition of mint in the rigatoni. I found that it gave it a very weird taste that I didn't enjoy too much. Our main course was the sea bream with mushrooms and fingerling potatoes. First things first, make sure you make reservations. When you walk in you automatically feel like you're transported to someone's living room. There's such a cozy feeling. Second bring your own beer/wine, if you'd like the have some. They don't sell any but will uncork it for you. The service was so personable. Definitely make a reservation for this place on Resy- their indoor dining room isn't that big, but they also have an outdoor covered garden patio. We booked indoors and luckily got a table right in the window which felt private/secluded. When we arrived, we were immediately seated at our table and our server wasted no time in opening up our bottle of wine and pouring water. He was helpful explaining the menu and checked in on us countless times. We never had to ask for anything since their servers were on top of it - as soon as our water carafe was empty, a new one appeared without request. Not one complaint about service, which is rare these days post Covid-19. We decided to share one starter, one pasta and one entrée. Our starter was the ricotta & honey toast - it comes with 5 generous sized pieces of toast. Very tasty and perfect amount of crisp. For our pasta, we tried the Mafaldine. I loved the dish - it was cheesy and the speck was tasty. Finally, we shared the Angry Chicken as our main. The dish came with two big, juicy legs. The chicken just fell off the bone. The juice it was in had the perfect amount of spice. It came with some pieces of toast that you could dip in the juice. We loved it. Small store-front and interior, we're going to have to eat outside in a covered tent due to the COVID. I am not used to this frigid February weather so I'm hoping this meal will be worth it and it WAS! Corto specializes in cucina povera which I believe means Italian peasant food. The menu covers a variety of hand-made pastas and a small list of entrees. The bonus is that Corto is BYOB so while their menu is a bit pricey, you can save a bit on the vino. Decided to go in the early evening on a weekday and was able to make a reservation 20 mins before arriving. BYOB and good service! It's a small space with a open kitchen and a large outdoor area in the back. The outdoor dining space was nice, but come prepared in the winter - it took a while for them to get the fire working so it was a bit chilly. The appetizers stole the show. I recommend the Black Risotto and Ricotta and Honey Toast. The risotto was savory and rich. The ricotta was fresh and paired well with the honey, olive oil, salt and peppercorn. Would've loved a little less peppercorn and a little more honey, but that's because I have a sweet tooth! The Agridulce was their newest appetizer. It's a sweet, sour, bitter veggie dish. So moving on and staying true to the foodies that My friend and I are, we both order two entrées! He ordered both the Rigatoni and the Pork Stracotto. I assume that both entrées we're good because he'll left nothing on the plates. He usually offers me a taste of his dishes but for some reason on this occasion he didn't. But he did say that the Rigatoni had a little punch of spice to it and that he really enjoyed that. And he also said that the Pork Stacotto was perfectly cooked and very tasty. As for me, I ordered the Spaghetti and Angry chicken. Honestly the spaghetti wasn't anything to write home about but the Angry chicken was phenomenal. The chicken was delicious, tender, and falling of the bone. And the Au Jus sauce that the chicken was bathed in was just a heavenly. Dipping my bread into that sauce brought back memories of my first trip to France. Wow! For dessert we both decided on just splitting a piece of their wonderful (And I apologies if I am getting the name of this cake wrong) honey olive oil citrus cake. Truthfully I've never had any dessert that tasted quite like this cake did. It was so good! So do yourself a favor and make sure you order it for dessert. Came here for my birthday with my two roommates a few weeks ago. Was absolutely lovely! They take reservations through their website which is awesome. It also wasn't a problem we were running a few minutes late. Walking through the inside, I love the open kitchen floor plan. Gives such a cozy, homey feel. The inside design is also simplistic yet elegant. Our waitress Nicole was super sweet and down to earth. You could tell she's an experienced server and def lead us in the right direction. My roomate ordered the Ricotta and honey toast. I tried a piece - very tasty! I started with a special of the day a stuffed pepper. Good from what I remember! The main course def stole the show though. I think it was branzino? Whatever the fish entree was that week but so good. No matter what you get honestly you can't go wrong. Food is great. Maybe a little over priced. This area needs a good spot like this though. Service is hit or miss.

The only issue with this perfect lunch at Corto was that we chose not to bring in a bottle of wine because it felt too early on this particular Saturday. (It was noon.) The service was perfect and our server was especially helpful as our party of 4 shared 2 appetizers, 3 pastas and 1 main dish. It was breathtakingly tasty. I really enjoyed everything about Corto - from the food, to the service, to the overall ambiance with the open kitchen. I went with a friend, and while we weren't going to drink, the waitress had such a great personality and even told us if we were interested we could run next door to grab alcohol (since it's BYOB). She made the entire service fun, treated us like old friends, and gave great suggestions - which I got her name to shout her out. As for the food, everything was delicious. I believe the menu changes seasonally, but we got the Cacio e Pepe Tart, the ricotta toast, the spaghetti and the triangoli. All were great & I would order again. We didn't get dessert, but there were 3 incredible sounding homemade options of pies, tarts, etc. they looked great - we were just too full. Highly recommend! read more
