I have a strange love-hate thing going with chains and franchises, especially after reading "Fast Food Nation." It took me three years of walking past Panera Bread locations before I finally stopped in and realized that I really liked them. I typically avoid chains, as I'd rather support local businesses, but on occasion the consistency and security of a chain is just too hard to pass up. There are times when I'm simply too lazy to go through the trial and error process of trying out a new place, after all. Cosi is a little pricey for what you get. My lunch today of a big salad and an ice tea was over $10, which is sort of steep for something that's basically a step above fast food. It's a lot better than fast food, though, and it's worth it, especially considering the truly delicious fresh whole wheat bread they serve there, and the fact that you don't have to eat it in a fast food atmosphere, which I'm not so wild about. The smoothies are also really good. This particular location is right next to the PATH station, as well as the Light Rail, which makes it incredibly convenient. It is also right next to the Newport Pavonia Mall. If you dislike eating in malls like I do (come to think of it, I don't like being in malls period,) Cosi is a nice, quiet break from all the noise and activity. On a nice day, you could get your food to go, then sit down by the river to watch the boats go by. So I guess I'll have to set my prejudice against franchises aside for a bit longer. read more

Has potential, but they go through staff like crazy. There are some good days where the person making the salad knows their stuff and others where they fumble through it. The lines can be long, The biggest faults are, they often run out of Kale and spinach at the counter and are too lazy to get more from the back, and later in the afternoon the salad area looks like a food fight took place very sloppy. read more

Menus is standard like other Cosi, but this particular restaurant has very poor service. They often serve incomplete or incorrect orders, where you get surprise especially on take out orders (which many people do because they get their lunch from here). I have been a fan of the warm break fresh from the oven that Cosi uses. Being a vegeterian, this place offers decent number of options for lunch. Love thier lentil soup and the chili soup. However, the servers need to be requested for less amount of dressing, else they become too sweet. However last week I had a terrible experience at this place. I swiped my Amex card for $11 and was shocked to see been charged 24$ for the same. On delving further, noticed that I was charged $13 as tip. I have just called back and got the $13 refunded. Well, I gave this place a second try and the service was worse. If they aren't going to acknowledge their mobile orders, they shouldn't take mobile orders. I went to the mobile order pickup and waited since I was a couple minutes early. The older man at the register (manager or owner, I don't know) looked at me, but didn't greet me. When he wasn't ringing someone up at the register or spilling coins on the floor, he was on the phone. After 10 minutes, one of the line workers came over and I asked for my mobile order. It hadn't even been seen, let alone made. After I got the order, I asked to speak to the older man. When I told him I had been waiting over 15 minutes, he said it was my fault and I should have gotten in line at the register instead of waiting at the mobile pick up counter for my mobile order. He said he thought I came in to take selfies... Ridiculous, I had my phone out with my mobile order up. He was beyond rude to the point of aggressive that I would have the nerve to say something. It isn't worth going to this Cosi to be treated that poorly. read more

Management at this location is terrible!! I ordered online and pick up in the store. When I got home I realized my order was wrong, so I responded to the order confirmation email with pictures as it asked for feedback of any issues. I've also called the store and left voicemails for the manager and never recieved a call back! $20 thrown in the garbage. read more

This is one of my favorite chains. Cosi is a great competitor for Panera Bread. Their store made flat bread is fantastic and the sandwich combinations are fantastic. The decor and ambiance is nice a relaxing. It has a very Starbucks feel about it. There is free WiFi, which is a good and bad thing because so many people come with their laptops and take up a ton of tables. My favorite sandwich has to be the Chicken B.M.T melt. Cosi is a gr8 spot to have a quick coffee and sandwich. I love the Italiano flatbread sandwich which comes loaded with turkey breast, bacon, tomato, onions and the juicy bell peppers. Tastes great with a coffee for abt 8 bucks. It has big seating space with nice sofas to laze on. Good ambience, good variety in sandwiches, a recommended spot for a quickie. read more

A great place for a quick lunch. I got a Fire Roasted Vegetable sandwich and a Pumpkin Spice Latte. If you ask me, the latte at Cosi beats the hell out of the latte at Starbucks, which almost surprised me. The sandwich? The best part was the bread, hands down. That was some good bread. A fairly small shop in the bottom of the Goldman tower. Normal menu of sandwiches and paninis but basically no where to sit. Gets fairly busy during the lunch rush so get in early to beat the line. Staff is a bit slow and not very friendly. read more

Most unhygienic place and servers ! Servers here are not well mannered ! They are not serious about their job ! One server sweeped the floor with a dirty cloth from his hand ! And prepared our sandwich and pizza without washing his hands the pizza was for my 3 year old son! And the kitchen tools he brought it from the bathroom wet soaking ! I threw the sandwitch and pizza ! I dont know whether it was itentional but i would never go to this place again where the servers dont care for their customers health and are nothing but shit headed morons ! Cosi is my favorite place in Newport. I went there every weekend to have some coffee and food. The atmosphere is great, the food is decent and most employees are very friendly. I deduct one star for two reasons: (1) it doesn't have wifi, which is sometimes inconvenient, come on, it's 2013; (2) during the holiday they don't follow the regular schedule, which is OK, but they should post it prominently. Cosi is the best "fast-food" restaurant (along with Chipotle)!. There are so many healthy options. Unlike Panera, Cosi offers multi-grain bread so those who are conscious about healthy food can enjoy a guilt-free sandwhich at Cosi. Cosi also offers whole wheat wraps for breakfast which are amazing! My favorite dinner option though is the Adobo Chicken Bowl with Avocado. Best way to complement the dinner is with one of Cosi speciality drinks, The Green Apple-Tini, or Lemonade Mojitio. Simply amazing. read more
