I think cost less provides a great option for shoppers who are on a budget or want to save money. I like to come in here for my can goods and some fruits and vegetables. They really keep their prices low on the produce. I think that sometimes sacrifices some of the quality. As there tends to be some over ripped producers well as fruit flies. Today I walked all the aisles looking where they kept the formula. I finally gave up and checked out with the few items that I had in my cart. I still haven't gotten over their refusal to follow the rules during Covid, jeopardizing the health of the entire community, but now I am forced to return there since Grocery Outlet no longer stocks papayas in the Jackson location, and for digestive health in the past year I've been forced to rely on papayas in the morning. I've shopped costless Food Jackson, California for quite some time I was in there on 23 July, and I slipped on water they had on the floor. While everybody in the store just looked at me including the cashier I scramble myself up the bags of charcoal that were next to the ice machine. A man saw me from behind and went and got the managers they took an incident report. They gave me the runaround. They gave me nothing I took pictures. I really bruised up myself. I'm 70 years old. Every time I called they would refer me somewhere else and then just ignored me all the way until the end while I'll never go there again. I know it doesn't mean anything to them, but I hope to hell, but their loved ones don't slip and fall and suffer what I did. All I wanted them to do is take accountability and they didn't. read more

I love the store itself, but it seems that the employees have morning meetings reminding them to be rude to every customer! I go there as little as possible since I don't enjoy being treated so disrespectfully, but sometimes l really want to go to their veggie department. Three days ago I went there and the gal, (big gal, maybe in her 40s) was so rude, I was shook up when I got to my car! If I do go back, I will only go in the red head's (with the fancy glasses) line. I've shopped here for years. If you are looking for the best food prices in Amador, this is the most reasonable in produce, meats, dairy, eggs. (Breads and frozen foods are cheaper at Grocery Outlet.) The staff is always helpful and the cashiers remember you from week to week. This morning I was pleased to see they were back to opening at 7AM. I was not pleased with the lack of diligence by Cost Less regarding masks. I witnessed several staff and vendors without or incorrectly wearing masks. I saw at least 6 customers doing the same. The sign at the entry infers they are enforcing the mask requirement. Train and discipline employees and refuse service to non-compliant Customers. Poor Management is to blame. read more

Excellent bakers, produce, cashiers, baggers, overall customer service is top notch, Their prices are consistently the best up here and they have a large selection of organic foods, which is really unusual for a discount grocery up here. Good selection of ethnic foods too, the jarred, canned and dried stuff. Would love more specialty foods, artisan breads, unique produce and the like, but up here it doesn't sell that well, so I understand. I went to Cost Less about a week ago. Most of the customers were not wearing masks, but their staff was. I asked the checker why the customers are not required to wear masks. He related that there is no regulatory/law that proves that one has a medical problem. He said that they are customer oriented. Customer oriented to spread illness? I won't return. read more

CHECK your RECEIPT! Cost Less Foods was our weekly stop until Saturday night. Their prices are great for what they have on sale, but I shouldn't have to be treated like a thief! On 11/21/15, we visited the store later than we normally shop. We stop there weekly on Saturday afternoon and do our weekly grocery shopping. This evening we stopped by around 6pm and after checking out, paying and walking towards our car, I noticed I was charged $4.28 for a bag of chips that should have been $2.28. I went back tot he check stand where we had just paid and showed the clerk the receipt and explained the discrepancy. She called the manager, I think her name is Teri. We waited for a good 5 minutes before she appeared and asked one of the clerks to get a bag of chips from the front rack. There was no lightly salted chips there (the type that we had purchased). The manager stated that we must have gotten the wrong sized bag of chips. I asked my wife to bring the cart back with the chips so I showed her that was not the case. The manager followed with stating that the lightly salted chips aren't included in the sale. She proceeded to the chip area with our receipt and returned not saying a thing to us. We have now been standing with our cart in front of the check out lines with everyone watching for a good 15 minutes. I was called over to one of the check stands to sign something. No sorry, no statements about the mistake and I was handed $2 after I signed the receipt. I felt humiliated standing there for 15 minutes not being told anything except we got the wrong sized bag of chips that weren't part of the sale. I felt like a thief to get the $2 back from the overcharge. There are not many Asian in the store when I shop there but I can see why. Because the store makes a mistake, I should not feel like it is my fault for wanting a refund for an overcharge of the item. I work hard for our money and there are many other places to spend our money. SAD! read more

My wife and I have been buying primal cuts for the past 5 or 6 years like, NY strips, Top Sirloins, Pork Spare Ribs, Boneless X-Ribs, etc. I am a retired meat cutter, (25 years). We just wanted to thank Cost Less Foods for the high quality grade of meat, as we never came across a tough or dry primal cut. The Meat is always very tender and packs a lot of flavor. The name of the store is really misleading for one thing. The prices are as a regular stores pretty much for most stuff, you can easily get same or better deal at Trader Joe's, Safeway, Costco, however some produce had reasonable pricing. For example I thought that this store would really be what it says it is but in comparison apples per apples...Winco Foods, Grocery Outlet, and 99cents stores for groceries and salads of the same brands have much better pricing then Cost Less Food Company. read more

I love this grocery store! They have by far the lowest prices in our area. The workers are very friendly and knowledgeable. Their weekly sales are incredible. Their meat section is large and the butcher knows his stuff. The produce is good- sometimes it doesn't look all that great but if you pick through you can find some really fresh vegetables. He is an older store and sometimes I think it's a little dirty. But overall they have the best prices. The bakery is good also. Fresh cookies and bread daily. read more

I am going to rant for a minute. I have never been treated so crappy at a grocery store. I went to Cost Less in Jackson and the cashier was so rude to me because I had coupons. I put all my stuff on the belt and she says "I need your coupons first", Shaking her head I handed them to her and she set them down. One was expired which I didn't realize and she yells is out. I apologized but now that I think about why did I. Then I grabbed the wrong cake mix and she says this is the wrong brand the whole time with an attitude and tossing my items around like it was garbage. I told the manager how rude she was and said I will never return to the store. I pay cash just like everyone else. As soon as she is done ringing me up she asks to go have a cig. I walked out and told her how rude she was and with attitude again she says" Oh I had an attitude I apologize" and rolled her eyes. Done done done. Cost Less Food Company is the best supermarket value in the region. I gladly drive a 40 mile trip to shop there and always save more than the extra gas costs. The produce is great quality and reasonably priced. The service in my many visits has always been good. want customer service? go else where unless you have an ebt card! the checkers will talk around you to each other without saying 2 words to you. The aisles are choked with displays for regular priced products in front of their regular locations to the point one cart can barely get through. then you get 2-3 stockers side by side shooting the crap instead of working. ive had to bag my own groceries several times but the latest was the worst experience ever. when the card reader failed to acknowledge when I pressed to accept button after signing the checker gave me attitude telling me she is still waiting for me to sign. I explained that I did but the button wasnt working she replied " yeah go ahead and blame the computer" and rolled hear eyes. If she hadnt been so busy chatting over my shoulder to her girl friend she would have seen my attempts to get the pad to respond.
