Costiera just opened up and after a long work week I stopped by. The entrance was cute and I love a pretty mural. The space was open and had great lights, well spaced tables and a bar. Everyone was very friendly. I sat at the bar. My meal was wonderful. I stared with a drink-So It Was You. A version of an old fashioned. I like a sweeter one, because I have ruined myself with homemade simple syrups, but this was still good. Then I had a kale and brussel sprouts salad. It was really good. The mustard dressing had a little bit of spice. It was unexpected and nice. For my main dish I had squid ink gnocchi with calamari in a tomato sauce. The gnocchi was like a pillow and there was so much calamari. I resisted the coffee ice cream for dessert. I don't know if this happens all the time, but my check came with Limonchello shot. Came to Costiera during the first few weeks that it opened and have been thinking of the food and drinks ever since! The various spritzes they had to offer were all so fun! I've dined at Costiera for dinner twice now. I can confidently share that a meal here will easily be one of the most enjoyable you'll have in Baltimore. Costiera checks all the boxes: cocktails are original and tasty, appetizers are so scrumptious you'll regret offering to share and entrees are flavorful, nicely sized, and beautifully presented. I was incredibly pleased during a recent visit to see they've installed panels to help with sound and ambiance as that was my only complaint during my initial visit (it was so loud inside the space, my dinnermates and I had a hard time hearing each other). Repeat highlights for me have been both the chicken liver appetizer and the fresh baked focaccia! The octopus is another favorite dish of mine however it tasted much smokier this trip than last, I don't recall the dish being so smokey during my initial visit. A gem in Fells Point! Decided to come here because it's a newer spot in the area and the menu looked adventurous - it did not disappoint! We started with the house-made focaccia and all I can say is, wow! Absolutely delicious - to the point where I immediately trusted the chef and wanted to try everything on the menu! We kept it light, as we were going to a movie after, so decided on the arugula salad and mushroom soup. Both were AMAZING! The salad had such a perfect balance of flavors, with the combo of the arugula, mustard vinaigrette dressing, apples, and blue cheese. I don't even like blue cheese or fruit in my salads, but it was truly the perfect pairing. The mushroom soup was delectable - creamy and flavorful, with fresh goat cheese and pine nuts. I wanted to order another one after I finished it! Whoever made this unique menu is creative and very talented. We can't wait to go back and try more items, just based on the few things we got. To make things even better, there's a $5 parking garage right across the street, which for the area is super convenient. I was in town for a medical / scientific conference and had a chance to have a meal with my older son after drinks with work colleagues, and we read nice things about Costiera, so we booked a late dinner reservation and checked them out. Nicely situated restaurant with an open floor plan and high ceilings. Friendly staff and very helpful waitstaff helped us work through this adventurous menu. We shared two starters - the grilled octopus with roasted potatoes and a delightful sauce and a raw hamachi dish that was buttery, flavorful and with just the right amount of heat and citrus tang. We ordered a whole boned grilled fish that was beautifully prepared, really tasty and moist and filling ! The dining space is beautifully decorated, but I would make a reservation because seating is limited. A lot of the menu is for foodies and adventurous eaters, but is a very cool dining experience! We shared starters and small plates and everything was good! Be prepared to spend a pretty penny - they are going for upscale vibes! For this price point (we spent $85 on 2 mocktails and 3 apps) I wanted to be a little more wowed by the food, but I would go back to try the pasta or entrees! They also have a happy hour on weeknights and this is such a pretty restaurant, it'd be a great spot to sit at the bar and enjoy. First, the service was fantastic- the team was ever present, when one of our party accidentally dropped a knife on the floor, they brought a new one before we even asked. The cocktails were original and tasty, and the selection of Amaros for after dinner drinks was great. For those who ever tried Gnocco and were as devastated as I was when it closed many years ago, we have all been eagerly awaiting Costiera's opening. The space is gorgeous, the location more central than Gnocco was in highlandtown. Making the dinner order really a make or break for my mood, so that means our mood, so that means ordering fish is a gamble. The food was perfect. The appetizer was good- not bland but somewhat boring. But it's a salad so not sure what I expected. Main course- Whole Orata Fish. Mostly deboned. It was cooked perfectly, the sauce was immaculate, and safe to say I didn't get an "I told you so" but more of an "Ooo let me try yours" She got the Porkchop. Delicious, cooked perfectly, and the sides that came with it were to die for. The dessert sounded good in theory but came out somewhat dry and the velvety and delicious caramel gelato picked up the slack. The Vibes- 8/10: This place is actually in my ex-favorite burger place in Baltimore (Ex because it unfortunately went out of business and this place took its space). The interior is well done and vibey but I would recommend some more aesthetic or accent lighting, it was seriously ~Hollister dark~ in there. Giving them the benefit of the doubt as it was their first weekend open, I am sure they thought of this. The Service-10/10: Couldn't have gone better. You don't need to know everything you just need to give good service. Our waiter killed it! The Drinks- 8/10: They were weird but in a good way. We had a sampling of many items on the menu (apps, pastas, large plates) as well as delicious drinks. A few highlights from me - 1) The tenderness of the octopus was incredible! I also loved how crispy and flavorful the potatoes that they came with were! 2) The vegetarian campanelle pasta was quite creamy 3) The focaccia with whipped ricotta was delicious - the focaccia was crispy without being too crunchy and the ricotta had a perfect salty-sweet taste The service staff was so attentive and helpful and the space inside is beautiful with the brick and all of the windows. We have been looking forward to checking out Costiera, and the food did not disappoint! We made a reservation to dine there on a Saturday night and found it to be bustling already even though it recently opened. The space is relatively small but feels spacious given the very high ceiling. We were seated fairly quickly and our waitress greeted us right away. Service was friendly, attentive, and quick the entire night. You wouldn't be able to tell they recently opened because everything seemed to have run very smoothly. The menu had a great range of Mediterranean offerings, including seafood-forward options for each course. We tried the chicory and fennel salad, which tasted fresh, light, and perfectly acidic to start off the night. It was the perfect transition to the octopus, which was cooked well and complemented nicely by the crispy potatoes and the flavorful purée underneath. We went for the whole roasted fish, which came head on and all! The fish was nicely seasoned and a slight smidge overcooked but it was hard to notice when eaten with the lebneh. The potatoes were similar to the ones in the octopus dish, which we didn't mind because they are that good. The braised escarole turned out to be one of our favorite bites of the night because of how tender and flavorful it was. We did not go for dessert but there were a couple of options in addition to the doughnut dish on the menu--they all sounded delightful if you have a sweet tooth. Our first time dining at Costiera was a wonderful experience we will not soon forget. This will be a regular in our rotation for fresh, delicious mediterranean fare! read more

I'm mad at myself for not taking pictures of the space or dishes (was having too nice a time to remember such things), but I suppose I'll have to come back immediately and correct that. The dining room was beautifully minimal, intimate, and warm, with large windows and light wooden finishes. Here, you don't have to worry about getting "the bad table"; I'd have been happy sitting anywhere in their dining area. We had the octopus, the veal sweetbreads (the star of the show I thought), the bucatini (handmade and perfectly al dente *mwah*), and the ricotta donuts (woah...I'm not into sweets but they're perfectly cloudy and come with fennel bee pollen and coffee gelato so just get them?). Everything was absolutely lovely. Substantial, but not gratuitously so. Take a date here and feel nourished for whatever comes next. I was beside myself when Gnocco closed (literally) and this really is a salve. Different enough from Gnocco to have its own identity, but clear that it comes from the same heart and minds. We visited Costiera to celebrate my son's birthday. I loved this place. It's very nicely decorated, clean and friendly. I'm picky with food. If I don't like food once, I usually don't come back for second disappointment. Food here was delicious. My favourite were scallops crudo apetizer. Scallops were fresh, sweet and melted in my mouth. The sauce was little over salted but still delicious. Another favourite were swordfish meatballs. That dish surprisingly was delicious without fishy taste with delicious sauce and not over salted. The food was nicely presented. All appetisers and entries that we ordered were very tasty with delicious sauces. We had great customer service from G. He was knowledgeable and attentive.
