Undoubtedly the best dining experience of 2021 and most certainly the best service I have experienced in my life of dining in Miami, FL. We had a 5pm dinner reservation on a Saturday. The restaurant itself is in a really cool building on one of the main corners of the Design District. I almost expected the hostesses to be that typical snoody Miami vibe but instead was greeted with polite, efficient and willing to help hostesses. Everyone was on the ball all evening long. Nothing was ever rushed. We weren't forced out of our seats after two hours, we never waited for a drink or water. Every single dish was explained in great detail by every member of the staff. This was a wonderful dining experience. If Miami (or FL for that matter) were to ever receive a Michelin Star, it would DEFINITELY be here. I read reviews from other yelpers that praised waiters but to be honest with you, I couldn't pinpoint just one staff member providing exceptional service, because they all did. Chefs are dressed in pencil skirts and heels or full on suits. They can answer any and every question you have as in depth as you'd like it. The bussers (if you can call them that) are just as knowledgable and helpful. We had equal contact with about 4 different staff members- Carlos, Bojana, Yusef and another lady who was excellent. We splurged on the omakese and had cocktails. I had the heat cocktail and my girlfriend had a martini. The heat cocktail was delicious and I don't even like tequila. It is a spicy passion fruit cocktail that is oddly made with coffee that is such an amazing twist to make it delicious and not overly bitter. I highly recommend it. After dinner, I went to the bar for Espresso Martinis. They were fantastic and were ready immediately. I am used to waiting about 20 minutes for espresso martinis. The omakese was AMAZING. The well dressed chefs come around constantly to check on and cook your food for you. Everything was amazing but by far the stars of the show were the steaks and that caviar filet appetizer. The portions are perfect. My favorite steak was definitely the Japanese wagyu. My girlfriend loved the last one that is on the sweet side. I will admit it was also delicious. The little caramel ice cream at the end is light but delicious. I can't wait to go back for more and for that amazing dining experience. Let's clear up the obvious, it won't ever be bad, but at this level and price, I'm expecting much more than "okay" Would I go again: No. Especially not if I wanted Korean food. Total bill for 2: $385 Included feast for 2 2 drinks 1 app 1 extra side of filet (thank god we got this because the flatiron was terrible on the feast) Food: This is primarily a steakhouse using Korean cooking methods. That's about all the Korean aspects of this restaurant. Their "side dishes and Korean soups" are far from the real things. They taste heavily Americanized. With the Kimchee tasting sweet, Kimchee jigae was bland, and overall nothing great. However, the meat was fantastic. As a steakhouse it nailed it. Oh except the Cote Flatiron. I was horrid. I don't know what marinade was on ours but it had a fishy taste and was awful. Drinks: honestly, these were amazing... but they were also $28/piece soooo. Service: Our server was really nice chill guy. Knew his stuff about the company and the products. However, the cooking process was sooooooo lonnnggg. They cook in segments, and frankly I wanted to cook it myself. Or at the very least have the option. I didn't want to taste the steaks individually in 20 minute intervals. Wife & I went for our anniversary dinner. We both love Korean BBQ, so we wanted to try a new spot. You have to valet, a little down the street, not sure where regular parking is. Once you get inside, there is an Instagramable hallway that leads to the main entrance. We were brought to the bar as we waited about 10 minutes for our table to be ready. The place was packed (Wednesday Night). After we sat and decided on what to eat, the feast begins almost immediately. All the staff were very friendly and servers very helpful with explaining the menu. What is different than most local Korean BBQ restaurants, you will not have to cook your own food. We started with wine, that the waitress recommended to go along with the meat. I opted for the peppery tasting COTE only wine, the Poira. Right up my alley. My wife went with Chappellet, which she liked as well. Both of us are Red fans. Onto the food, we started with the wedge salad ($20). It wasn't served traditional, they cut it into 4 squares, which was good when sharing. It was very tasty, everything was fresh. We decided on the Butcher's Feast for our entrée, which also seemed to be the favorite amongst tables around us. I think it's "the thing" that most order. The Butcher's Feast ($64), is 4 cuts of meat, Hanger Steak, Dry Aged Ribeye, American Wagyu, COTE Galbi, which is Marinated Short rib. You get 7oz's of total meat per person. 4 pieces of each cut, except the short rib. All of the meats were cooked to perfection. The staff will recommend how to eat the meat (which temperature). They were all so mouth watering flavorful. It's hard to pick which would have been the favorite. Our waitress recommended how we eat the Hanger Steak, with what toppings and wrap in lettuce. All the meats are a bit on the "salty" side, so plan to drink a lot of water or wine. But nonetheless tasty and delicious meats. It comes with a whole bunch of sides, veggies, a mixed greens salad/toppings, mushrooms, rice cakes, an okra dish, egg soufflé, rice, two different stews and a few different Kimchi style dishes. They come out in different times, so don't get fooled when they bring out the first round and think that's it. We made that mistake. They bring all of the stuff at different times. So the pics you see posted on here of everything together is not completely accurate, unless people let stuff get cold and don't eat it as its served. Once, we finished all that, they end the feast with a little ice cream cup like when you were a kid, wooden spoon and all. Its a soft serve vanilla with soy sauce caramel mixed in. It was an amazing way to finish off the dinner. Total dinning time for 2, was 2 hours. So we didn't feel rushed. The pace was just right. Dinner for 2, will run you $300+. One thing to note is that we went back-and-forth about whether or not to get the butcher's feast vs other cuts because it seemed like such a good deal with all of the sides. Turns out, most of the sides, including the soft serve, come out with any cut you get, so don't let that sway your decision. This is now one of my favorite restaurants in Miami! A friend and I came in for dinner and we were completely blown away with how incredible the experience was from the minute we walked in until the moment we left. We arrived early to have a drink at the bar first and had some of the most incredible dirty martinis made by Stelios and then one of my new favorite drinks a tequila dirty martini made by Abel. This one should 100% be put on the menu as a cocktail! My friend and I love tequila and love dirty martinis but never had this mixed together so delicious. Once we sat down we had a few wonderful waiters helping us through the evening but Jay really stood out and made our first visit memorable! He recommended the perfect dishes for us, especially for my vegetarian friend. All of the food we had was amazing and we can't wait to come back and try more items. TL;DR: This is a great KBBQ place that is especially worth it if you take the time to appreciate the little stuff. ------------ Here's a helpful tip: Costco's deli section sells some good tasting KBBQ for $25. By contrast, complete main courses from COTE start from $75 for the butcher's feast (which is what my table ordered) and can go upwards of $200. So why even bother going to this fantastic restaurant? With food, as with most things in life, the difference in quality between something low-end and the mid-range is usually quite noticeable. The difference in quality between the mid-range and the high-end, is more subtle. (Cars and clothes are a good example.) The food at COTE is great and is some of the best KBBQ I have ever ate, but it wasn't 3x better than the cheaper stuff. The $50 dollar difference was made up from the hint of fruitiness from the marinated pork, the perfectly stacked kimchi, and the excellent service where water glasses were always filled and napkins were always folded upon returning to the table. I can't tell you whether you will find COTE worth the price of admission, but I ultimately thought the little things did add up to a very enjoyable experience. This restaurant has a Michelin Star, well their New York location does. So when we heard it was coming to Miami, we immediately booked a reservation. We came, we ate, we drank and we were satisfied. As you enter the hallway and check-in and you get whisked away to the dimly lit restaurant. The vibe is high energy and each staff is on high alert. They smile as you walk by them and even if you just casually stand up from your table, an army of hosts will gladly approach you and assist to whatever your needs. Now that's service! We basically ordered the Butcher's Feast and some fabulous cocktails. The feast consisted of UDSA Prime and American Wagyu Beef for $58 per person. It came with Korean accompaniments such as Ban Chan, Scallion Salad, Local Mushrooms, and a Soft Serve at the end. The server came over and explained all the different cuts and started cooking them on the grill. It is basically Korean BBQ but the server will initiate the cooking procedures, one cut at a time. Everything we ate was definitely high quality and loved the fact we didn't smell like a grill after. This experience was definitely something to remember. Just the service itself was over the top. The butchers feast also included scallion salad, egg soufflé, lettuce for ssam, 2 mini stews, and soft serve as dessert. The egg custard was delicious but everything else was a bit underwhelming to be considered Michelin banchan. Been searching for a korean bbq place since I left dc. This is a good steakhouse with quality meats but I wouldn't categorize it as a typical kbbq experience other than that they cook in front of you. Waiters are trained to offer the most expensive appetizers and entrees. The butchers feast is plenty of food on its own - $60pp will get you 8oz of meat (4 varieties) and some mini sample plates of veggies (really small for large groups). But overall it ended up being plenty of food. The meat was very tender and they take great care in cooking it in a precise way. I did notice that they cut way larger pieces for the men (I'm a girl but I want my equal share and if I want to give some to my bf I will!) so I might not have ended up with 8pz after all. They ask everyone at the table participate in this but if you have a vegetarian they do let them do their own thing. Meal ends with some vanilla soft serve (very fluffy and refreshing). We finally made it to Cote, the new Korean steakhouse in the Design District, for a special occasion dinner. Yes, it is great. Though the atmospheric entry left me ready to leave - much, much too loud - I got into the restaurant proper as quickly as I could. We had read the menu and watched an amazing YouTube about how the meats are prepared (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAADFdfa-G4) and went for the Butcher's Feast. The meat is so tender and cooked toward your need. The sides are amazing - the soups and egg souffle are enough for a meal alone. The scallion salad is delicious. And the banchan amazing - I have never had cauliflower or okra banchan in Korea, both good. The cabbage kimchi and daikon kimchi are great. I asked if we could get refills on banchan as in Korea and was old yes - there was absolutely no room for more food! The sweet dessert was a nice finishing touch. My husband is lactose intolerant and our amazing waiter brought a substitution without being asked. Service was some of the best in Miami, keep it up, please. I also had a wine - surprising a red Greek wine, Douloufakis Liatiko, Dafnios. Perfect accompaniment for a beef dinner. Six of us went on a Tuesday night to celebrate a birthday. We were excited to try this place, what with its Michelin star and great reputation. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience, much of which is attributed to the truly outstanding service experienced from the doorman to the hostess to the server team. It's welcoming, professional and charming, in short the very definition of hospitality. The room is nice enough though not especially impressive. Which brings us to the food. The appetizers were all outstanding. The group shared wedge salads oysters, both with and without Uni, two different kinds of steak tartare, which was really great and tuna Tartare. We chose as a group to do the butchers feast, which I do recommend for the first visit to the restaurant they give four cuts of beef, which are prepared on the grill that sits in the table, Korean style. We enjoyed three of the four, but none of us particularly cared for the short rib . This choice includes six or seven Korean sides, which were fun to try. Personally, I really enjoyed the pickled vegetables and the stew and rice. I was less a fan of the kimchi, but it all made for an interesting experience distinct from the normal American steakhouse. The only dessert, which came with the Butcher's feast, was a modest sounding vanilla, soft, serve with caramel sauce, but it was actually really good. At first I was a little bit underwhelmed by the appetizers, a fresh salad (shrimps were extremely good tho) and a very basic tuna tartar (no punch). It seemed like super rare to find a korean restaurant in miami and It was lovely to see such a decent korean restaurant. Meat qualities are superb. Honestly the best marinated rib Ive ever had - perfectly fatty and juicy. The korean foods (kimchi stew, etc) is perfectly adjusted so that people who aren't used to authentic korean cuisine can fully enjoy. Tried Omakase and It was great. They grill the meats for you and they know what foods are gluten free, etc. Their drinks are great too. They have many staffs and they are all super professional and attentive. This really helped us to have a great experience as they really know what they are doing and they give you immediate attention when you need anything. The food was stellar and the only thing better than the food was the service. With an empty cocktail glass I had three waiters ask me if I wanted a refill. Look y'all I have never disliked a Michelin starred restaurant, and this is another one following this rule exactly. This was our second time at Cote - first time we did the prefixe butcher's feast, the second time we just ordered random things. The NYC spot is basically impossible to get a reservation, but this one feels like it's been a bit easier. I LOVE Korean food, and this is a fancier version of a lot of familiar dishes, but in a beautiful setting with someone cooking for you (hehe). As the usual resident Asian who gets handed the tongs at almost every KBBQ spot, this is probably my favorite thing about Cote, awkwardly. Everything else is as everyone else said - ingredients are fresh, everyone is super nice, drinks are tasty, and everything is basically perfection. The food is absolutely out of this world. Every bite was delicious and the sides are also amazing. The service was 10/10 and you don't lift a finger when you eat there. They even cook the food for you and then slice it for you so the only finger you lift is to put food in your mouth. The ambiance is awesome. Excellent dining experience! Loved the food, ambience and family friendly! We have a 8 month old and are always nervous about trying a new trendy spot! This restaurant went out of its way to make us feel at home! We chose the 4 course meal. For 58$ it came with a variations of meats, sides and ice cream. We also ordered the bacon (must try) and the tuna tartare. The music was also a nice vibe! Great wine and whiskey selection! I tried a Japanese whiskey neat which was nice! I hope this restaurant becomes a Michelin as miami desperately needs one! read more
