This is probably the *consistently* best pizza in Saline. Also, delivery will take at least an hour -- probably more -- so this is really a pick-up only location. The employees have always been personable, which one does not find everywhere, and I appreciate. We did have an experience that was a bit frustrating today. Everyone likes their food differently, but when a restaurant goes off-book in preparing your go-to item...you can't order it without something it's not supposed to have on it, right? One of our subs had about half a bottle of italian seasoning mixed into it. Normally this sandwich has none. We probably could have ignored less, but there really was a lot on there. Like - the cheese took on a green tint -- that much italian seasoning. As in "we wondered if a container had spilled" amount of seasoning. Ya know, an "this almost seems spiteful" amount of seasoning. Maybe there are people who like their herbs and spices abundant enough to crunch, but it's not for us. We ended up throwing half the sandwich away. (We powered through because we had to be somewhere and no time to procure other food.) So again, "bad" experiences -- once you give up on the idea of delivery working out -- are few and far between. And for restaurants in Rich People Town? That is definitely something to brag about. Cottage Inn is a semi-local establishment based out of Ann Arbor. They don't have the chain-feel of Dominos but still maintain a few dozen locations throughout Michigan / Midwest. Chain pizza places can be hit or miss. The pizza here was a big hit. I got the two pizza combo that included a premium pizza. It was a good value for the price. The pizza was delicious. Plenty of cheese, sauce, and toppings. 5 stars for the pizza, especially considering this is a chain pizza place. I wish my order would have stopped with the pizza because my other items were misses. My mom was trying to shed five pounds before a wedding so she wanted a salad. I ordered a "large" antipasto salad. For $9.99 I was expecting a salad that would satisfy at least five people comfortably. This was not the case. The salad was much smaller than expected and the ingredients were quite sparse. It reminded me of supped side salad you'd get at a restaurant. I also ordered a 12 inch chicken club sub in an effort to appease my daughters who are trying to avoid lactose. The sub was... Meh. A lot of bread and not enough "guts.". It was basically a single serve chicken breast spread out over 12 inches with some toppings thrown on almost as an afterthought. My suggestion- Stick with their pizza and go elsewhere for your salad and sub needs. The pizza really was on point. read more

I received a hot tip from a fellow Yelper that this Cottage Inn location was now under corporate ownership. A welcome change. Maybe we'll like Cottage Inn again now. We ordered the All Meat deep dish to be sure we'd have plenty of toppings. I had asked for extra sauce over the phone. I wonder if they misunderstood me. If this was extra sauce, I'd hate to find out what regular was like. You see, for me, pizza is just a handy way to convey tomato sauce into my mouth. Hubby loves the deep dish crust. But he said it wasn't as chewy as he remembers. It seemed fine to me. Delicate instead of tough. We got some sesame butter garlic sprinkles on the crust. It seems that all the pizza places are doing it now. So they return to a barely OK until I can figure out how to get my minimum daily requirement of lycopene. Really bummed because we've ordered from cottage inn in Saline several times and never had a problem. Made sure to place our order early on a Friday night (5pm to arrive by 5:45). Drivers are always nice and on time - our food even arrived early. The pizza we received tonight (a medium half cheese half pepperoni on regular crust) was awful. It looked sloppy, like they tried to get it made and out the door in 30 seconds. Im surprised they let it leave the store. The dough was stretched paper thin in the middle with huge thick bubbles around the edges. There was so much cheese piled in the middle giving it almost the appearance of a regular thickness, but it was one big oily mess. Pepperoni was sloppily thrown to the side and the slices weren't cut evenly. What happened to checking your product for quality? Gave two stars because the Greek salad and breadsticks were fine :/ read more

I love cottage Inn pizza. I have been to many of their locations in and around Ann Arbor. This location, in Saline is one of the dirtiest restaurants I've ever been in. The food tasted fine, but lost some of it's appeal Due to the fact that the tables were all dirty. They use Vinyl tablecloths that are textured, and there is a layer of grime deeply embedded in the texture of the table cloths. The floors looked as though they have not been mopped in several weeks, and the floor mats which run all along the buffet line are So saturated with grease and dirt that they are no longer effective at all. The bathroom has dirt and dust collected in every corner. I wonder if the owners are involved in the day to day operations... I was just sad, and kind of grossed out. read more

I had not ordered from cottage inn in years, I'm so happy we did today. It's my boyfriend's birthday, we ordered a large deep dish Philly cheese steak pizza,a large salad, and a bunch of ranch (homemade ranch is far superior to bottled). I special requested alfredo sauce instead of pizza sauce (I am not sure if it come with or not) this is one of the only places that will do alfredo on pizza in town! Not only that, IT WAS AMAZING. That pizza was BEAUTIFUL AND SATISFYING! I use to write a lot of these but I don't anymore. The staff was super nice, great job guys. I'm a cook too, you guys deserve a gold star! The lunch buffet was very cheap and so was the pizza. The pepperoni pizza in the buffet had one pepperoni per slice and the rest of the food seemed quite old. We would have been better off ordering fresh food and waiting. I've also tried ordering online and they never received my order!! This occurred at two places in town now and the owner gave me an attitude like I was trying to get free food even though I printed out my receipt with me. I have ordered food to be delivered many times and everything is usually very good. The rare occasion that I was not satisfied, the manager knew how to take care of it. I really appreciate that as not all restaurants (Smoke) know how to treat AND keep a customer. The delivery people have been great too, you don't mind giving a nice tip when they remember to bring everything you ask for, and bring it while it is still hot, even when you are the last delivery of their day. Today my husband and I took our 3 children to the Saline Cottage Inn for the lunch buffet. We got there at 12:55, well within the 1:30 time frame. First off, their credit card machine was not working, so my husband drove to an ATM to get cash for them. While we waited, I noticed that the buffet was out of salad, all three breads, and only had 9 pieces of obviously old pizza under the heat lamps. My husband returned and we paid, expecting that more food would be prepared, as we had just shelled out over $27. In the following twenty minutes, the gentleman who works there (perhaps the manager, he is the older man who is always there) brought out lettuce because I asked and one pizza. Before he brought out the pizza, my husband approached the counter and asked if more pizza and bread were coming. He got a "Yeah, yeah." When we told him that the quality was not appropriate and that this was certainly not a $27 lunch, he became belligerent and told us that we had eaten what was deemed appropriate for the buffet. When I told him what was on the buffet and what our concerns were he said "You want bread? Fine, I'll make some bread." When I told him we wanted a refund he told me "Fine, you give me back the pizza you eat." I have been a loyal customer of CI for over twenty years and spent a summer working at the downtown restaurant. This is not the quality or attitude of the company I once appreciated. We will not be returning to the Saline store. And, frankly, in a town that is as saturated with pizza stores as Saline is, this brand really can't take the hit that that man is giving them. read more

I have to say it was EXCELLENT pizza we ordered the deep dish and it was flavorful well cooked and just a very pleasant experience. I would have given it 5 stars except the bread sticks were doughy and it did take a little while to deliver but it was worth it. The employee that took the order was so helpful (Todd I believe)since I hadn't ordered it in years even thru in a coupon that I wasn't aware of! Our family has allergies to gluten and dairy, so I was thrilled to see that Cottage Inn offers GF options. Unfortunately, they still put cheese on the pizza, despite having asked for no cheese on the toppings list. If you're gluten free AND dairy free, make sure to specify that several times on the order, otherwise your pizza will likely be inedible. As another review stated, this place has really gone down hill since the new owner took over. The guy seems to be out of touch with reality. I will give him a slight pass because he is foreign, but the stinginess is over the top. Literally no sauce to be seen and very little toppings. The guy is a major tight wad and it shows in the pizzas. With how expensive Cottage Inn is compared to other places, this is inexcusable. Now here is what I do like about the place. The hired staff is very friendly. Don't know his name, but the guy with the curly hair that runs the counter is the man. Hopefully he can take ownership of the place some day. We just had the worse experience ever at the Saline location. If I had the option to give less than 1 star I would!! We were told that it would be a 20-25 minute wait for our order to be up. It ended up being OVER an hour and a half!!! After we ordered and paid, the manager announced that everyone waiting would get a free drink. We never received any compensation for our 3 drinks, plus we heard her give coupons to others (who hadn't waited as long as us) but we were never offered any coupons. We witnessed several people going up several times and asking about their orders and heard MANY phone orders being cancelled. I understand that they may have been understaffed but that is not a good excuse as it is a Friday night and they should have planned for this amount of business. If they would have been honest with us and told us it was going to be 1 1/2 hr wait, we would have had the option of going elsewhere.
